Brave Old Oak in South Northamptonshire

Went on Saturday 9th November and it was a fantastic night. Great atmosphere brilliant, good prices and was very clean. The staff have always been cheerful.

Very warm, friendly and welcoming for family and for dog lovers. I would certainly recommend the food here and the cowboy cheeseburger meal.

Super friendly staff, great deals on food. I had the spicy burger with pulled pork, it was really juicy and tender. What a lovely pub.

Splendid little pub. We visit every year during the Silverstone Festival. We usually get a breakfast but this year we were too late so we both had a lunchtime portion of fish and chips. It was very tasty and well presented. We would have stayed for a couple of pints but I had to drive back to the campsite. Highly recommended

My wife chose The Brave Old Oak from a list of pubs in the area for us to have a meal after visiting Silverstone. It was part of birthday celebrations. We were given the use of the function as it was to be a surprise party. The venue is really nice. Proper old British pub feel. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for us. 100% recommend the Brave Old Oak to anyone looking for a place to eat, or just somewhere for a good pint in a nice pub!

I rang to enquire about booking a meal to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We were going to be visiting the Silverstone museum during the day and wanted to eat before heading back to Sheffield in the evening. My family were going to join us as a surprise. The team could not have been more helpful, allowing us the use of the function room which we were able decorate with balloons and banners, and they were quite happy for us to bring a cake for the birthday boy too. There were 15 of us in the end. We were asked to order in advance, which was a very easy process, and the food was served in a timely manner and was all delicious, with good sized helpings. The pub itself is a lovely old building and the facilities were clean and presentable. The staff were chatty and helpful. Really pleased with my choice of venue

We made an impromptu stop here on a long journey home. We couldn't have done better for friendly, obliging service, olde worlde, homely surroundings, and delicious, fresh cooked meals. Quality food, all nicely presented, and good value. A decent choice of real ales too. Highly recommended.

I have to say the 'short woman with glasses' that was critisised in another review was wonderful today as she managed the bar, taking orders and serving food independently. All with great manners and a smile! The food was good and fair value. Management might want to timetable more staff at lunchtimes, over school holidays, but the lady deserves a raise for managing so well!

Fantastic family meal for Mother’s Day. We all had a roast dinner and dessert & drinks. The food was hot with fresh vegetables, home made yorkshires with good size portions. The staff were all lovely and friendly and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal today, the pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning to try the other menu items that we saw being brought out, they all looked delicious too!

Came for Sunday roast food delicious very hot all fresh staff very friendly and welcoming something on the menu for all of you don’t want a roast dinner very reasonable priced unlike other places most definitely be returning

We booked the function room for my partners 40th birthday we had 17 adults and children the service was impeccable food was amazing and everyone who served us had a genuine smiles highly recommended to anyone can’t thank the staff management enough for making my partners day so lovely we also had 2 surprise guests and wasn’t a problem sorting additional seating and making us all feel welcomed

This pub really is a little gem, One of our favourite places to eat as a family there is seven of us and we are always welcomed by the staff no matter how busy they are. We called up at Christmas where there was fourteen of us and was fitted in at short notice. nothing is too much trouble for them. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, and the food is amazing. The menu has something for everyone. I highly recommend this pub if you are visiting Towcester pop in you won’t be disappointed or if you are new to the area give it a try you will defiantly return.

We arrived as a large group of families from a Cumbria village on our holiday. The staff were fabulous, very helpful and accommodating for the children. Lindsay a member of staff was amazing with all the children and made us all feel very welcome. Food was fantastic and the chef was very accommodating to my super fussy 11 year old. Steak was cooked to perfection! Would definitely return again if we were ever down that part of the country. 10/10 !

After a visit to the Silverstone museum a much needed pint and some food was the order of the day. Popped into this place and was greeted with a friendly smile. A very relaxing drink was had with a special request of a Ham salad sandwich NO ONIONS. Myself and the lady behind the bar had a chuckle about my over insistence on NO ONIONS. Would highly recommend especially for solo travellers as I was made to feel so welcome. Thank you 🧡

I’ve just moved to the area and love local old traditional pubs but I’ve now been to this pub 3 times and every time I have been served by the short lady with glasses and obviously she’s been here some time as some locals / regulars have told me . She’s quite rude and her customer service skills are amiss with no pride or passion in her service at all , I have been a Publican running high end and gastro pubs for 36 years. I have operated huge sites all types of pubs/ locals/ style bars / clubs / hotels …. There is one thing I’ve trained my team to deliver … exceptional customer service . This lady needs urgent training as she’s rude and in regards to dog friendly she’s not ( didn’t get the dog water after asking twice ) Food was ok and I was served by another lady last night when I visited who was pleasant and had good customer skills … Marston’s Locals need to step up as the high street has to many other pubs etc to take your business !! Look after your locals and visitors or lose them. Train in #prideandpassion #guestserviceculture

Are here for my husband birthday with his parents and our children. What a lovely place, the staff were all very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious, no complaints whatsoever from us and highly recommend a visit 🥰

Never been before but you could tell straight away that it was obviously a popular pub with the local community as the atmosphere was so warm and friendly. The staff were fantastic, being super attentive and quick to serve, so no complaints there either. What let it down for us was the food, which was (sadly) terrible. Maybe it was an off day, but the quality was awful and the portions small. We were told by a local afterwards that this was one of the better places to eat in Towcester so it seems we could have ended up a lot worse!

Came here for our works Xmas meal couldn’t fault the food or the staff never hurried us up in between the courses this was our 2nd year trying the festive menu definitely be back in 2024

Lovely place to go for a drink. Can't comment on food we didn't eat there but I can say what lovely people. Customers and staff make a great environment . Will be back. Dogs also welcome if we'll behaved.

After a couple of hours on the motorbikes , this pub provided a very nice and most welcome Sunday roast lunch. Would certainly recommend.

Good lunchtime meals, at decent prices. Didn't try the full menu but that looked interesting too our baked potatoes with toppings came very hot And with adequate fresh salad

Just popped in for a early evening meal after a hard day walking around Stowe Gardens. Menu was fairly standard, and we ordered scampi and chips, and sausage and mash, didn't have to wait too long, but food was excellent, so much that we didn't have room for a sweet, which looked very nice on paper Marston's pub, which was a plus, Pedigree on draught, service was excellent, and very nice atmosphere in the place Would definitely call in again if going through Towcester. Also a three hour free car park off Richmond Road, which was only about 100 metres from the pub.

Had a great experience of this pub when my partner and I visited Towcester and the food was great. Chicken burger with real chicken gravy we loved it! Only thing that gave me a bad taste in my mouth is the barmaid who appeared lovely then proceeded to say to my partner when he was buying a drink that she really liked him and she liked his top. I’m sorry but flirting with the customers is one thing but when you’ve served us food and he has a partner this is another story. Really not happy and won’t be going back even after everything else was great. Shame.

This was our first visit, we were made welcome from the start, staff are so friendly, we were given a choice of where we would like to sit, the food was served promptly, hot and good quality. Would highly recommend.

Took our elderly uncle whom is wheelchair bound and in a local residential care home in Towcester for Sunday lunch, the staff at the old Brave Oak were lovely and warm and welcoming and very accommodating. The food was delicious and didn't have to wait long. Will definitely be back thank you

We quite often go to the Brave Old Oak for something to eat on a Sunday and they are always friendly and the food is usually pretty good. On this visit we tried their newly introduced Sunday Roast, I had the Veggie option a root...

I can't praise this public house enough. First impression, the staff was friendly and very approachable, finding us a table for 2 despite not booking in advance. Second, the toilets were immaculately clean. Finally, the menu looked very reasonable and our choice of Sunday roast was fully justified. Four veg, potatoes, meat and yorkshire pud. Perfect balance and value for money. A big thank you to Caroline for her friendly service, and the lovely lady behind the bar.

Went out for a quick lunch, 3 meals and 3 drinks for £40 so an absolute bargain. I had the mixed grill and was skeptical about the chicken and medium rare steak. Fortunately it was perfect. Definitely recommend and will be coming again.
