Superb lunch, apparently best ploughmans., quality & quantity! I had pork loin steak with mushroom & peppercorn sauce which was superb, highly recommended, also lovely garden for good weather

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime as a party of 5. I ordered a beer and asked if they sold hot drinks - tea/coffee etc. The guy serving replied "only if I have to" 🙄 I took my beer and sought out the other members of my party who had at this point scoured the empty pub for somewhere to sit. Almost all the tables had reserved signs on them and we weren't allowed to use them, even though some obvioulsy weren't reserved until 2 or 3 hours time. I can't comment on food but it's obviously popular. Service and atmosphere = seemed we and our money weren't wanted hence the low score.

Very nice spot for a hearty lunch

My wife and I selected this place after doing a search for waterside pubs. It has a huge outside area, backing onto the canal, where you can sit and watch the beautiful longboats float by. The inside is very spacious, with friendly, helpful staff and a wide range of drinks, including at least 3 or 4 real ales. Menu was quite comprehensive, with a wide range of dishes, including about 6 daily specials. The food was absolutely delicious, my sea bass in mango and sweet chilli sauce was absolutely incredible. We will absolutely, definitely be coming back again next time we are visiting our relatives. Thank you for a fantastic experience.

Lovely pub for drinks or food with friendly staff. Nice just to pop in for a few drinks but the food is good too. Often can’t resist some bread and olives with a glass of wine. The garden is big with ample seating and a view of the canal. Highly recommended

We decided to go to the Barley Mow to treat family who had come over from Singapore but unfortunately the experience was the same as the last time we was there with good friends. First time the batter on the fish was totally over cooked and we put it down to a one off the second time under cooked. It's not as if the food or drinks are cheaper than others as they are definitely not Unfortunately we will never be returning

Arrived and were seated quickly. The service was very good, and the meal was served, nice and hot, within a short time of ordering. Would definitely visit again.

Attended yesterday as a member of the Grafton fields shooting party. Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and service! Absolutely well done the whole team… it’s impressive to see such a large party provided with freshly cooked food and made to look effortless. My steak was absolutely perfect. Thankyou and we will see you soon for a return visit.

A real pub serving food rather than a restaurant with beer. Good regional beer comes as a welcome change from one of the countrywide breweries.

As always a very warm and welcoming place to have a bite to eat. The food is always excellent, with most of the menu being homemade. We love meeting our friends here as it never disappoints. The Sunday roasts are delicious too and very reasonable.

What a great Pub and fabulous food. Would highly recommend for couples or families with children. Dog friendly, lovely staff and a great vibe. We've now been several times whilst staying in the area. We'll be going again too.

I took my Mum and sister to the Barkey Mow for a Sunday lunch and we were all mightily impressed with the experience. There was a real cosy feel to the restaurant as we were greeted warmly by our waitress and taken to our corner table. Two of us opted for the choice of Sunday roast and this did not disappoint! Tasting as lovely as it looked, this was a real treat as well as there being plenty of on the plate.My sister opted for the Scampi course and also enjoyed hers. Throughout our meal the waitress was very attentive and had a lovely manner about her which added to our enjoyment of the meal. I would definitely like to return to the Barlow Mow on one of my next visits to my MK home.

We really enjoyed the whole experience. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.Food was great. We were surprised to see the menus, condiments being wiped clean. Can’t wait to go back.

Dreadful. The man who served us was rude, impatient and obnoxious. Most ordered Sunday Roast and said the beef was tough. Never again

Family meal with 2 doggies who were welcomed and sat quietly under the table. Nice warm and cosy evening, we were well met and seated quickly. Service was first class, and the food was very nice and well received All round, the gammon I have to say was amazing, as were the onion rings. Table starter of nachos went down well with the group and I would recommend those too. We moored outside on the canal and walked up via the horse tunnel but was a large car park adjacent so however you are travelling, easily accessible. Wheelchair friendly, dog friendly busy And overall a Great place, highly recommended 👍🏻

A solid choice for quality food if you're in the area! They also have live music and events on weekends sometimes.

Excellent countryside pub next to the canal, little bit pricey but it's worth it

I enjoyed the experience. The pub was nice, cosy, clean and traditional. The staff were very helpful, the food was good so was the ale. Was visiting along the grand Union canal and stopped the boat by the horseshoe tunnel and just walked through it and straight to the pub. Worth a visit if you are travelling down the canal.

Firstly the service was great, the waitress was excellent and friendly. The pub is really nice in a great location. The food was extremely bland. We had the vegan curry and pie of the day which were about 16 pounds each.

Lovely dog friendly pub next to the Grand Union canal. The staff encouraged us to take our three dogs inside. The two meals we had were tasty and well presented.

The service was absolutely first rate and attentive without being overburdened. Despite being very busy the food turned up in a reasonable time and we all agreed cooked to perfection.

First placed I refurbished in Buckingham, 5+ yrs later, it became my local, well localish........like walking into a time slip .......love it

Lunch for 12 bellringers, with wide range of orders, from prawn baguette to vegan dish of the day and gammon & chips. All dishes were delicious, great service. Good range of real ales, too.

Excellent food locally sourced and always served hot straight from the kitchen. Great selection of ales, beers, IPA. Big garden plenty of events.

Nice pub, lots of seating inside and out. But if you're eating outside they will only bring out your meal, no other table service.

Lovely canal side pub. We moored up outside and came with our dogs. Tried the vegan pasty, chicken and bacon lasagna, ham, egg and chips and the beef burger. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of vegetarian and vegan options! Such cute gardens and a beautiful view of the canal. Thank you!

Tried this place on the off chance. So glad we did! Staff were friendly, service was great and the food was delicious and plentyfull. Definitely recommend the chicken and bacon lasagne. We sat outside where we enjoyed Morris dancers playing instruments and occasional singing.

A lovely village pub, nice indoor table areas for dining . Large outdoor gardens for warmer days. Food is homely bit well cooked and presented. Staff friendly and welcoming.

Lovely food. Great service too. Makes a change as lots of places are awful these days. Have used for 3 years & never been let down. Table service outside would be an extra bonus.

Lovely food served by lovely staff and a fantastic pub, the location is lovely by the canal and close to Cosgrove park, we have recommended the pub to our friends and those that have visited love it and have been back.

Great food, exceptional staff and clean.

We went with a friend for lunch. We had a friendly, warm welcome and Katy was our smiley waitress. Great choice of food and a very good pint of Everards Tiger. We hadn't been before as we don't live nearby but we would recommend and will visit again.

Moored nearby on a narrowboat. Called in for a couple of beers in the afternoon. Nice bar, recommended

Not had food yet .went to Boat inn at Stoke !!! Never again am so poorly ,they took no responsibility when I complained and told me I had eaten all my meal .i had not ,the veg had obviously been frozen ,the meat was very fatty and the jus on the red cabbage has caused me lots of pain due to Diverticulosis and Diabetes ! Am greatly looking forward to a meal at Barley Mow when friend can bring me as I do not drive .

Excellent Pub and Paul and the Staff do a wonderful job . Don't waste your time at the Navigation up the road , the fact that the Barley Mow is where the local go should tell you all you need to know .

Outstanding location in the countryside, next to the canal, brilliant beer garden, classic proper pub, outstanding service polite professional staff, million per cent we will return, this is a must visit venue.

Found by accident when we moored our canal boat opposite. A most enjoyable evening meal. The staff were friendly and helpful and the menu engaged the wide variety of tastes in our group. When served the food lived up to our expectations being hot and tasty and satisfying.

Lovely place to unwind over a cold one. Real Ales and IPAs are really good, constantly changing guest ales are fantastic. Lovely garden.

The barley mow is a lovely pub to go when it’s sunny. They have a wonderful outdoor area, with a lovely garden in front of the canal. Food is nice, service could be better. The village around the pub is also pretty charming!

Super menu, good value, home cooked pub grub. Lovely atmosphere. So much better than mainstream fast food restaurants. Highly recommend.

The food was very good not that much on the menu but enough went in the lunch time but it was very busy liked it.

Nice country pub accessible from the canal. It's an Everard's Pub so has some good ales which were well kept. Did not have food but menu looked good, and best of all very dog friendly 👍

The staff at the barley mow were so friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate us. I don't eat vegetable oil, and they made sure to check with the kitchen to ensure it wasn't in the dishes I was eating. The chicken and bacon lasagne was also delicious. Cider was really reasonably priced too. We'll definitely be returning!

More a restaurant serving below average food than a pub..Nice beer garden..Best to carry on cranking..

We went for a quiet lunch with my brother and his wife. Plenty of parking, busy but not packed. A very friendly welcome from the landlord as we ordered drinks and found a quiet table. Menu had a good variety of baguettes, wraps and jackets, with choices available for vegans/ vegetarians. My s-i-l is vegetarian and settled for a falafel and Moroccan spiced hummus wrap with a "pinch", as they call them, of chips. Delicious, apparently! We ordered a tuna mayo wrap, prawn Marie rose and cod goujons baguettes. Everything was fresh, tasty, service was prompt and good value for money. A good selection of draft beers, lagers and wine but they don't do WKD, mules, or similar but still plenty of choice. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to this countryside pub.

A quaint village pub in Cosgrove, Milton Keynes. Good food. Treats for dogs also-doggy icecream, which our dog loved. Nice large garden. Very popular pub so worth booking. Will go again.Food was very good

Great place for a light bite and a good pint. Atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were great. Would definitely recommend for families.

We came in, before we sat down the waitress asked our drinks, we asked to wait 2 minutes. Because a member of our table was at the bar we asked for a further 2 minutes. She seemed visibly annoyed. We later gave our drinks order, and asked for a few more minutes before ordering food, and the food order was thrown at us, and when we asked for the food options half the options were unavailable - which is fine as Sunday afternoon, but then asking for what we then thought was available was also unavailable and we were then Told “well if you ordered earlier that wouldn’t have happened”. We decided to go elsewhere and the attitude was shocking. We have never been before, and won’t be returning. I’ve never witnessed such terrible service. We are a polite table, we were friendly to the team and all very shocked with this situation.

Visited for a Sunday dinner as family with various items selected from menu. We all really enjoyed our food especially the roast which can be disappointing when visiting a pub but not on this occasion. We will return

Lovely old pub restaurant with fabulous outside eating space as well as inside. Lots of parking spaces in own car park. Not far from the canal. Delicious homemade food. Would recommend!

Always a lovely experience. Traditional pub with friendly staff, a good range of drinks, featured brewers and craft ales. Sunday roast is recommended but also offers decent pub food.

Good Sunday lunch, but pity I missed the Sunday roast section of the menu. Bill was a bit of a mess, we were presented with another table's bill.
