Had a meal at a reasonable price. My portion was small and I didn't feel I had value for money on this occasion, although it was cooked to a satisfactory standard. Good selection of ales and beers too. The bar and serving staff were very helpful and friendly. It's a dog friendly pub, I probably won't be returning anytime soon.

Maybe marked down the atmosphere a little harsh as it was Easter Sunday but there was barely anyone there. Food was ‘fine’ and service was ‘fine’. No complaints at all, just not 5 star. Value for money wise I’d say it was 5 star. The price you pay for what you get is great. Would go again but would try a different day and menu

So disappointed with this pub, we booked a table for a special occasion as its in the next village and wanted to give it a try and the menu online looked very good. On arrival we were sat down with menus and were not asked whether we would like a drink at this time. The menu was basic, not the one we had viewed online. Then we waited and waited... we had 2 children with us that were very hungry and getting fidgety. The staff were no where to be seen and only 2 other tables seated. I said to my husband if we aren't offered a drink within 5 more minutes we are leaving. We were there 15 minutes with menus and noone asked us if we wanted a drink (despite the response) or took our order. We were here treating my aunt to a birthday meal so it was embarrassing. We got up and left and noone noticed as the staff were chatting by the bar. Will not be returning.

UPDATE Warren & team did the first outing of the NHSRF lunch club a superb lunch and a celebration of a members 75th birthday. UPDATE 03/24 Another fantastic luncheon with the NHSRF lunch group. A return visit with 23 members for another fantastic lunch. High quality food and drinks great attentive staff. Well done Warren.

could be good, no staff and told sorry you cannot have this & you cannot have that. expample fish tapas for 2 no prawns! ok so what replaces the prawns. TOLD NO IDEA. and other items the same. people on the next table 6 who had book waited over 1hr for starter to come.out of 4 of us 3 had rack of lamb and all agreed it was not cooked correctly!!!! 4th person had pork tomahawk steak and this was good. plus point the 1 young server worked his fingers to the bone. EVEN GETTING DRINKS WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.

I'd read several positive reviews about their Gluten Free Roast Dinner so thought it I'd give it a try. Delicious! One of the top gluten free roast dinners I've had, extra points for the gluten free yorkshire pudding! My gluten free roast included Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes, Carots, Parsnips, Cauliflower Cheese and Gravy. For good measure there was a good selection of gluten free starters and deserts. Highly recommend!

Wheelchair accessible pub, with disabled toilet. Brilliant!!!!

Take away fish and chip supper cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend. When ordering I was informed of how long it would take to cook and then had a phone call to say it was ready for collection. Great service.

Had a top-notch weeknight dinner here with friends. Well worth the drive! Service was very attentive, the manager is super friendly and accommodating, the pub is cosy and we all thought the food was prepared beautifully. I recommend the steak w/ red wine jus and the berry crumble.

Comfortable surroundings and friendly welcome from the staff. The menu looked enticing and I will return to sample it soon. There are a number of promotions proposed to welcome locals back in. This has become a watering hole since my local closed down. It is comfortable, the staff are friendly and there is,alway a seat available. This continues to be popular with customers who used to frequent the Red Lion in Denton. The Food whether eaten in or takeaway has earned an excellent reputation especially with some of the promotions! This continues to be popular and produce excellent well priced food. The acid test will be retention of their new customer base after the Denton pub reopens in January.

We had dinner here on Saturday eve. Not busy, so lacked a bit of atmosphere. However, we shared a camembert starter, followed by two mains of fish and chips, and bacon wrapped chicken breast. Food arrived promptly and was beautifully presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

What a great and delightful Sunday roast we had yesterday. Couldn’t fault any of it so a huge thank you for making our last together day perfect. And our vegetarian sister was impressed you recognised the difference between a veggie and a vegan so she got a Yorkshire pudding. Good wine recommendation, too. I will be back with friend.

Getting busier and cheapest Sunday roast (excellent)

Went for a Sunday roast and sadly that was a disappointing experience. Overcooked lamb, dry potatoes and parsnip and tasteless Yorkshire pudding. The service and the apple crumble for pudding saved the experience. The high chair provided was also not very clean and I had to wipe it all down myself before my <1yo sat in it

We visited for a family meal on Monday and had an excellent evening. The food was perfect. We pre ordered as a group of eleven and the service was excellent throughout. Thank you to your team for making the evening such an enjoyable occasion. We will definitely be visiting again.

The pub only had one other table occupied for the duration of our visit on a Saturday evening - we left around 8 pm. 2 of us ordered Barnsley lamb chops, what we received I can only describe as half a Barnsley chop, what's more it was more fat than meat, the accompanying greens and potatoes were small portions too. This review is for the food I received not the party I was with who were mostly satisfied, but we all thought it was expensive for what we received. I have visited this pub many times in recent years but will not be back until it changes hands again.

We've just had a wonderful meal in The Red Lion - it was definitely nicer than my recent meal Farringdon's Bleeding Heart Bistro (and this as a very good meal), and I'm happy to report that it has returned to the same standard not seen in more than 5 years (since 2018). I'm half-minded to make this an appalling review, just so I can keep The Red Lion for myself; but the reality is, that we've just had the nicest pork and chorizo burger, and lamb with dauphinoise potatoes. Highly recommend the sticky banoffee pudding, although next time, I think I'll switch the custard for ice cream. Thanks guys

By any standard this was not a good experience. Sunday lunch in an near empty pub . The food was warm. The quality poor. Service slow. Staff ok but not trained. The response to our observation about the cool meal was I'll let them know ! We won't hurry back.

Had lunch with my family on Remembrance Day . I can honestly say that was the finest roast beef and Yorkshire pud lunch that I’ve had for a long time . Excellent service will be back before Xmas rush

We enjoyed a lovely family night there celebrating fire works day. The staff put on tasty hog roast baps and a well put together fire work display, It felt very personal and lovely to feel part of the local community.

Lovely and friendly people and fantastic food. Fast service too. We didn't book a table and they were so nice about it and fit us in. Sunday lunch Pork Loin was so tasty and great value. Lovely atmosphere and so stylish inside. Definitely coming here again. (the photo of the Lasagne was after my partner had started tucking in 😂)

Decor is lovely and quirky, the guy who served us all evening was amazing, knowledgeable about the food, really friendly and attentive. The mains were spot on, chicken burger, jackfruit burger and lasagne were beautiful. The only thing I wouldn't recommend was the Christmas taster which had a dry cake and a gingerbread man who looked like he'd been to Tenerife holiday and forgot suncream (burnt).

Me and my wife visited last night, this pub is fantastic! All the staff are very friendly and professional, the decor is lovely and the whole place has a wonderful warm atmosphere. The drinks and food are top notch. We have always loved this pub after visiting before but Nathan and Dave have excelled in creating a true gem, we will be back, Thankyou for such an enjoyable evening.

We red an article about this pub, that it won best destination and decided to try it out. And you know what it was lovely!!! Atmosphere in the pub is electric, decor is cool and fresh, every little touch makes you feel like I'm the cosiest place ever. Service was lovely and smooth, nothing was a problem. Food was really good as well. I have been missing few bits on my plate over dinner, but that didn't make my meal any worse. I think I missed crab on my burger, but it was amazing anyway, probably the best burger I had in a long time. Because everywhere you go you get them mass pressed cheap burgers, but this one was proper pink inside and had not even one gristle in it. So I definitely recommend everyone who wants good food visit this pub. It was delicious 😋

Really friendly, family run pub which we go to most weeks to enjoy a peaceful drink in the garden. We also take out dog who loves it there and enjoys having a fuss and treats from the staff.

First time back after 2yrs, new management and a spruce up have taken place. Friendly, helpful welcome, place spotlessly clean and unchfood not bad either (fish plater and desert wagon wheel).

We visited for a Saturday evening meal with some friends, first time we have been here in years. The food was very good and the service very friendly.At the end of the night when we were struggling to get a taxi home & were the last ones in the restaurant, one of the owners David gave us all a lift home to the other side of Northampton! What a lovely guy and well beyond the level of service you would expect !Thank you so much & we will definitely be visiting again.

Another lovely visit to this lovely pub for a lunch date with 3 friends , we were welcomed by very friendly helpful staff and dined outside as it was sunny. The food was delicious and very good value for money and the staff looked after us the whole time and nothing was too much trouble , making sure we were ok . Excellent experience lovely welcome by the landlady food was lovely. I had chilli chicken wings and a cod goujon brown bread sandwich. We had come out for my birthday after months indoors very memorable day.

The food was awesome as it always is at the Lion. Sunday lunch is particularly good value although I’m not sure about having a Yorkshire the size of a small baby and this Sunday was a little heavy on the parsnips. Starter to die for! The table had a real wobble on it, and one of the slats was completely broken, good job I spotted it as if I hadn’t then I would have been coated in red wine

Second visit to this amazing pub and did not disappoint. Our first visit was in April when outside dining was only permitted. Wow what amazing food, ambiance and staff polite welcoming and friendly. Today our second visit and able to dine inside. Beautiful interior, could not be made to feel more welcome. Great lunchtime menu excellent value for money and will definitely been visiting again. If you are looking for a relaxing environment would highly recommend. 10/10. Well done to chef, waiting staff Melissa and Manager Elle. Look forwarding to visiting again.

We have been here and enjoyed the food and establishment before and during ( legally) the pandemic. Old management were great and the newer one's are l good hosts too. The menu could maybe do with more than 5 main courses to chose from but the food was excellent. Wife and friends loved the real and properly made cocktails. Could maybe try some non alcoholic Doom bar or old speckled hen as a choice other than the acidy alcohol free lagers on the market. Worth a visit as thoroughly enjoyable.

5 prawns in shells with 3 pieces of bread for £12 considered rather expensive. The lunch menu was hard to understand which had to be explained. Lovely surroundings friendly staff, but far too expensive for what we had. Unfortunately we won't be returning

This review would have been 5 stars until i checked my receipt the next day! We had a really lovely time, amazing food, fabulous cocktails and really friendly staff who couldn't do enough with more blankets and heaters. When we paid and the options for a tip came up on the card machine we happily ticked 12%. However the few cocktails I'd had meant i didn't check the receipt properly until the next morning and discovered a 12.5% service charge had automatically been added to our bill meaning we tipped 24.5%...and while I do like to show appreciation for good service this seemed a bit much. I feel that a customer should be able to choose to tip or if not then the company should be a bit more transparent about their charges! A good experience with a disappointing end.

Overpriced, pretentious and to sum of; tasted like sh1t. Meat platter of £20 contained soggy unflavoured pieces of of low quality meat. Served on slate so it’s upper class, eh?

Fantastic place. Very accommodating with blankets etc to keep you warm. Wonderful tapas. Nice wine. We'll be back without a doubt.

Staff very friendly and smart. The atmosphere was very good. The limited menu on choice was also good. However the standard of food that arrived was under parr. The meat board was made up of packet meat, and pretzels and a handful of mixed fruit and nuts?..The cooked meat was over cooked. Expensive for the quality of food. Unfortunately I am unlikely to return to eat.

Visited for a mid day meal having booked the gazebo area as unsure what the weather would be like. Limited Tapas type menu at the moment whilst outside eating.The food was very nice although we felt on the expensive side by the time you had ordered enough to satisfy your hunger. The beef cheeks and cold meat platter excellent. Definitely recommend and we we’re informed that a more extensive menu would be available when indoor eating aloud.

Really pleased to see this lovely pub reopened with passionate new owners offering amazing and interesting food.We had a lovely welcome and it was so nice to hear that its a real family concern.The small plates menu was fantastic, great options for all, including vegetarian. Good choice of drinks, especially if you like a G&T!Thoroughly recommended, but don't tell anyone, we don't want it to be fully booked next time we visit!

I had a few beers with my neighbour at the Red Lion the Monday after lockdown three! The effort the crew at the Red lion have put in to make a comfortable outdoor seating area really shows. All the staff were very polite, welcoming and Covid safe. The beer was very morish, I can't wait until next time!

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who took us to our table, the pub is decorated lovely and has a nice atmosphere. We then ordered our food and drinks.both menus have enough choice to keep everyone happy. Donna ordered her favourite G & T Brockmans and I had a brew dog zero Punk AF, now onto the food and we were spoiled for choice. We ended up sharing the starters and both of them were superb. ( Panko Fried Tunworth & Mackerel Pate ) and for main I went for the Venison Burger and Donna had the Gin & Tonic Battered Fish & Chips again both looked and tasted wonderful, The chips are outstanding. We then had another round of drinks before having our chosen dessert again these looked and tasted amazing, Donna had the Chocolate Decadence and I had the Cheese Board again both were lovely. I take my hat off to the team at the Red Lion for having the courage to open up a new business at this time, I hope it all works out for them. To finish get yourself over to this lovely pub and enjoy an excellent meal with them.

What an absolute delight! We’re so glad to see the pub open again. We went for Sunday lunch and what a lunch it was! The food had amazing flavours, the plates looked stunning (the sauce on the chicken was out of this world). There was a perfect cosy atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were friendly and efficient. The new owners, were chatty, friendly and have clearly thought about the decor and how to create a lovely dining experience. We’d definitely recommend and very happy to be supporting an up and coming local pub.

Visited Friday 21st for our 1st wedding anniversary dinner with my parents after they recommended us from previous visits, and they did not disappoint us!! Staff were welcoming, very friendly, made recommendations and had great knowledge of everything that was available. Food was perfectly cooked and everything served hot. We are so happy with our entire evening from start to finish.

We visited here earlier today at approximately 12pm and walked into a beautiful bar and restaurant area which neither of us could fault.Staff jump on us as soon as we entered and were also faultless as well as friendly too.The lunchtime menu was extremely basic ( pictured)and when we asked for the steak sandwich the staff member said that they were still waiting for a meat delivery which limited choice even further.My daughter and I ended up ordering the chicken schnitzel with hen eggs ( they had ran out of the other listed eggs)which came with a rocket salad and onions.We had a pint of Guinness and a pint of coke which took the bill to just over £30.I cannot say anything complimentary about the food or the lack of missing stuff other than it was hugely disappointing.It really is a great shame as the pub both externally and internally is stunning with lots going for it.....just change that menu...you are well signposted from the main A428 Bedford to Northampton road so trade is there waiting to be snatched up.If you like a drink then this place is cracking........will not return.Visited 17th February 2020.

Lunch Thursday 13th Feb 2 persons. Used to dine here regularly when it was refurbished. Re-visit after a 9 month break Menu not what we have come to expect. OK if you like basic fried food (we don't) . Just cheap basic pub food, not even any fish that isn't fried. Can't be too difficult to do Sea Bass / Bream, can it? "special" burger not available. Hanger steak on salad ordered since nothing appealed. Not asked how steak required. Came in a bowl running in blood on top of the salad, ruined the salad. Steak was rare which is ok but blue in centre. Requested a side plate to put steak on, cannot cut a full steak in a bowl on top of a salad pile !!! Also, not offered a steak knife, very poor table service. Will not be going back.

Came for a drink after not visiting for some time. It used to be a cosy bar but now it seems to be an unloved room while the pub focuses on its restaurant. It was cold and everyone in the bar kept their coats on. Despite it being in the depths of winter, the fire was not lit and when asked, it was explained it did not work now. Despite their being a big heater by the fireplace, it was not switched on. There are no curtains or blinds for the windows so that makes it feel cold too. The bar lady annoyingly kept trying to trade orders up to large sizes and sell snacks. The overall feel of the bar is just not one to spend time in, including the lighting. Can see why the locals are in the Rose and Crown and the place seems to attract criticism for its management style.

I have been coming to this pub with my wife and brought lots of friends and family for some time now. We know that we can always rely on the service and good food.However, today we came for lunch both ordered the mushroom burgers - shame you have stopped the fantastic pizzas! so for me it was the burger or a salad as a vegetarian.My burger bun was non-edible it had so much mushroom juice on it had gone soggy and nasty the mushroom itself was a bit past its sell by date. Anyway, the chips were good! What was disappointing is not at any time was we asked if it was all ok? or when we paid the bill and the plates were taken - and my plate has most of the bun and mushroom left was we asked.I would have given feedback quietly and constructively. Such a shame as there isn't any reason to go back for me and as we have a family of 5 and quite often bring 6+ people we will no doubt go elsewhere in this very competitive market.

Fantastic food very warm welcome

Arrived at the Pub it was cold, we sat in are coats the whole time we were there, when asked if heating was on I was told heating was playing up, then I ask if the fire could be put on there was an excuse that couldn’t be lit. Starter arrived Brixworth Pate that came already on a thin biscuit and very sparingly spread with the pate very disappointed would never order that again! Then ordered a hanger steak sounded delicious from the description, it had no flavour it was like rubber even though it was served rare, I couldn’t eat it. I was told as it was my preference I would have to pay for a replacement, but I could have a free dessert, yes it was my preference I hadn’t tried a hanger steak before, my daughter had recently had it and had said it was delicious, that why I had it. I found the chap in restaurant very arrogant and dismissive. I brought the steak home for the dog but before I gave it to the dog my daughter tried it she spat it out saying that was not like the hanger steak she had. Won’t ever go back to this restaurant!

Beautiful village pub, staff are very friendly and there is a wide variety of food, I had the chilli burger which was very filling and my husband had the 10oz steak, cooked as asked for, would definitely come here again.
