The West Port Hotel in West Lothian

We visited the West Port on the last night of our holiday in Scotland. The restaurant was not to busy when we arrived for our booking at 18:30. After a couple of minutes we were shown our seats and ordered drinks which quickly arrived. I ordered the Steak and Venison Pie, which was really nice with flaky pastry, the veg were great and still a bit crunchy just like I like them, mashed potatoes and a lovely graveyard, yummy. My had Fish and Chips, the portion size was massive, she failed to eat it, one granddaughter had the ribeye which was cooked to perfection, the one had Burger that she really enjoy. Great place for food and the perfect way to end our holiday.

We stayed at the West Port Hotel for three nights and everyone there was awesome. The room was basic but just what we booked along with a nice breakfast daily. 12 minute walk to the train station.

Having been recommended to the West Port, I went for a long overdue catch up with a good friend. Immediately on arrival, there was a very warm greeting from the waiter, Ewan F, who showed us to our booked seat and immediately asked if we wished drinks. He remained with us throughout our stay. The menu was superb. Our mains were served in a very quick time and the food was hot and tasty. The desserts were outstanding. All was excellent value for money. There was a good range of beers and ales also at reasonable prices. Staff were all helpful and asked regularly if they could be of further assistance. Visit lasted about 5 hours in total. Definitely to be recommended.

Booked a room for the night in order to attend a wedding in the area, we enjoyed an evening meal and a few drinks. The room was cosy with full working facilities and lovely branded toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic value and absolutely delicious. The staff were all very helpful and polite - Martin in particular, was excellent and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

A nice pub with rooms above the pub. Friendly welcome. Great hospitality. Brilliant breakfast Comfortable room. Only reason I haven’t given five stars is that the room had an unfortunate pervasive smell that seemed to be a feature despite leaving window open

Singapore noodles is my favourite takeaway, occasionally have the shredded chilli beef or duck dishes, all delicious woth the best fried rice

Great for food or drinks with friends and family, dog friendly with great parking facilities and super friendly staff, Theresa and Martin were amazing as were the rest of the staff.

Never answer the phone when they are supposed to be open If they are not open a simple post or change the time on their page I always forward to the food but this is about the fifth time I’ve phoned on different days and if they’re closed or on holiday Put on the website ,If you shut different days put it on the website it’s easy I’ll come show uses how to do it. Used to get u every Thursday now it’s pop luck if ur even open

Went for a meal for my husbands birthday both had Gammon it was lovely compliments to the chef excellent meal and great service from Jim, will be coming back for my birthday .

The best Sunday lunch we have had for a long time and certainly the best meal we have had at The West Port, which says a lot as we often eat here. The only gripe is the price of a bottle of wine, but that is the same everywhere these days. Would certainly recommend the Sunday menu. Thank you.

Came in for breakfast the other day. Was a really good experience overall. Staff were attentive and gave massive portions of food. Kept us full for ages. Will visit again for sure.

Just back from a wee cheeky last min deal. Hotel was fabulous, Staff were super friendly and helpful. We had dinner, bed, breakfast and a bottle of Prosecco for £99. Totally worth every penny. The rooms were clean and modern. Plenty of facilities. Couldn’t fault a thing. Dinner was tasty and the breakfast was massive. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. I genuinely can’t wait to go back.

Went for a lovely valentines meal and was very impressed with the service from, Kimberley, Liam and Theresa, Lamb shank and hunters chicken were amazing, will definitely be returning.

Took about an hour for starters to arrive - chicken was clearly not fresh & had been bought from a supermarket. Mains arrived at the same time as most of the starters and were all distinctly average at best. Not worth the wait. Probably won’t be back.

Food was good. Served by Nicole who was friendly and helpful. Ate the set menu but had good choices. Wine was Chenin Blanc and was very nice.

Nice place for pints, decent food, reasonable prices, good selection of live sports (football, rugby etc in particular)

Came to The West Port with a friend for dinner, and wasn’t disappointed. Food was great, drinks were brought to the table really quickly and Kimberley was so attentive and funny, made the experience even better!!

I would like to thank Liam and the rest of the staff at the West Port for looking after us. I had a wonderful 65th Birthday. My steak was very enjoyable and I never had to wait on any drinks 🍾🥂 Thanks again, Jim

I have been here a couple of times and allways ys found the food to be nice but on this occasion sadly not ..we both had hunters chicken ..it was smothered in cheese And pink in bit ..£7.55 for fizzy drinks ..rediculious prices ..staff could do with going on costumer service course and shown how to smile..not once were we asked if everything was ok .. Overpriced and not very friendly

Had a nice lunch today before going to see Macbeth at the Royal Highland Centre. Plenty of choice on the menu, staff (Kim, Sam & Caren) were very welcoming and helpful, food came quickly and was delicious. First time here, but will be back again.

We ate here on a quiet Monday afternoon after hearing good things We were disappointed that not all menu options were available Food was very underwhelming and not as advertised on the menu Our waiter was pleasant enough but we did here a full training session being delivered to another staff member on how to answer questions on the phone appropriately, after discussing his shift pattern and salary - some conversations are better away from the floor

Was charged £3.45 for a bottle of water which I think was very over priced, but I payed for the drink as it’s the price. The man who served me was EXTREMELY RUDE to me. All I said was that’s expensive, to which he replied it’s not me who makes the prices is it I believe his name was Jim. I then asked where the toilets where. He was extremely unpleasant and pointed where. I don’t ask for much but good manners is one thing politeness and friendliness. All of these I never got. I won’t return again in the future because of this. As for a venue it seemed a nice establishment just a shame about the staff.

Chicken fried rice with curry sauce absolutely Slaps. It’s awesome. Other reviewers are saying about not being able to pay by card , I think it’s fantastic. Like no one has cash lying around, come on….. or maybe make sure you have money before you order, there’s an idea.

This place is brilliant, food is great and the venue is a decent size with a nightclub on the back at weekends. Went with a large table and despite lots of drinks and three courses the staff made sure our every need was attended to....
