Excellent service, friendly staff and a great Manager who really takes care of his customers and staff.

Stayed at Premier Inn next door last week. Service on the Wednesday was friendly and quick. May not be many options for draught beers but carvery was good value for money. Girl behind bar (don't remember her name), was chatty and quick to serve. Went back on Thursday night. Again, great value for money. Kevan was a very good host, and made my short time there a pleasant experience. Thanks guys.

Relaxed dining. Nice meal. The carvery has had a refurb since I was last here. Waitress personable and no attempt to hurry us out. Only slight issue was that the hot air hand drier in the gents was not sufficiently warm enough to dry my hands.

The food was great but the mac and cheese was disgusting. It’s so burnt with hardly any sauce or cheese it almost cracked my tooth as the macaroni gone hard. Awful. The customer service could also be improved. What it looks like a manager guy had a terrible attitude. I don’t know how he got a job in customer service never mind being the front of the house to welcome customers. He said one of the servers will take our orders, nobody came. We went ahead and got our food and nobody turned up so I had to go to the bar to ask for the drinks instead. They also put us at the table beside the radiator which was in full blast. It’s nice to be warm due to the cold weather but the table was pushed to the radiator and I almost got a 4 degree burn on my leg. Whoever arranged the layout of the tables should get a proper check. Tables were all squashed together we could hardly get in or out. We had unlimited soft drinks and only managed to get 1 glass due to the hassle of walking pass all the tables and going to the drink machine on the other side. Why not put another drink machine on the other side?

Went for carvery with wife and granddaughter meat was ok but the sides were all dried out ,macaroni was tasteless ,and you only got 50% off if you had the app, I didn’t have the app .cost £6.49 for gravy and a yorkshire pudding for my granddaughter

Headed to Bathgate Toby carvery today first time trying it. I will definitely be back the food was lovely and service by Rachel our server was lovely very welcoming and friendly

Nice and quiet. All food was fresh and plentiful. We made use of the 50% off your main meal. Rachel served us and was very attentive. Looking forward to trying a breakfast next time. This place has recently had an a refurbishment and is very comfortable.

The staff were really welcoming, we just opted for the carvery and it didn’t let us down, the food was hot very tasty. Sophie the waitress did an amazing job, friendly and efficient even though she was dealing with a lot of tables. Would definitely eat here again.

Enjoyed a visit on New year's day. As always, the food was very nice and plenty to choose from. Server Chelsea was excellent.

Good spread of vegetables, but a very,very small amount of meat . You probably could not even make a decent sandwich.

Very nice restaurant. The food is really good and the price was unexpectedly low. The turkey was delicious and not dry at all, the beef was very tasty as well. There is a lot of variety and something for everybody. Even though it is a chain restaurant the atmosphere is realky warm and you have quiet and private corners and it is not loud at all. Rachel was a great waitress and really nice and helpful. Since it was our first visit they had to explain a few things and did without hesitation. Definitely will come back soon.

So went in for a beer with my brother who just arrived from Australia. First round he had a carling kids had a lemonade and my other half irn bru he then noticed there was Tennents. So I went and bought him one to which the female said is that for HIM pointing to my oldest nephew of 17 I was rather embarrassed at the tone and how it came out I just said no for me. She then told other members of staff who then just watched us and kept our eye on us not a great atmosphere at all was made to feel very uncomfortable. Not a great representation of Scottish hospitality .

Great experience, first time with Toby but it will be our future top selection. Rachel is kind as we do not know how the carvery works here but she explained it very clearly to us!

The breakfast buffet here is amazing! Always quick to replace any food that's been eaten with fresh! Service is fast and welcoming. Lovely place to have a nice hot breakfast. Great price also. Will keep coming back here, highly recommend :)

Was in today for a boxing day lunch had rachel serving us and would like to give her 5stars alone, rachel was extremely polite and friendly. Not only that rachel was constantly checking in to ensure we were happy and content with our food and service. She went above and beyond any customer service i have experienced in a long time .

We were there 25th Christmas Day for Christmas dinner.All I can say is never again! After waiting ages for main meal.staff were coming from through the back to take from the front for I assume takeaway or delivery I counted one server taking 15 portions of the macaroni cheese just as I was about to get some.Here’s a tip fill up in the kitchen and leave the food at the front for the people that’s been waiting ages to get served. There was no Mac and cheese due to fill up takeaway no Brussels sprouts and no sign of any coming soon Awful food uninterested server,had to hunt down someone to get our dessert as we waited ages. Won’t be back.

We had a lovely carvery, we had a good portion of meat each. The service was good, our server Jay was lovely and polite. The pub had a nice atmosphere and as we went around Christmas time it felt very festive. Would eat at this restaurant again. Thank you.

Went in for my partners birthday as we go in every now and again. First time we have ever had Rachel as our server and have to say she was fantastic. Friendly and professional can't fault her (she even wrangled Jordan the carver into singing happy birthday to my partner :) the food was brilliant as always and can't find fault with anything! We had a carvery on Xmas eve. The food was awful. Peas hard, carrots mushy, potatos cold. The meat was ok. As for the gravy it was thick and lumpy but only warm. I have been to other carverys and they were great. I will not be back to Bathgate. Today I am suffering from stomach cramps and feel so ill. My son has had tummy problems too.

Went back after the restaurant upgrade and looks really good. Service and food was excellent.

Just had the carvery here today so much better than the last time I was in there about 3 years ago. Lovely meat selection and trimmings thoroughly enjoyed it I will certainly be back

Perfect location for a good Christmas catch up meal with friends. Pudding was delicious and hit the right spot. Server Linzi was very welcoming, attentive, friendly and helpful.

Friday 6/12/24 My friend Janie g I read some good reviews on theToby carvery here - so off we went & arrived around 4.20 pm. We didn't book & only had to wait a few minutes to get taken to a table. Now the best bit about our experience on that evening out was how pleasant & professional the Polish girl called Nina was as she took our order & took time to explain the procedure that we would have to go about getting our food. The plates 🍽️ 🍽️ were only luke warm & the brussel sprouts weren't tough & I was pleased at that, & the rest off the meal wasn't too bad BUT it was only warm, at least the roast potatoes were hot. The near black Christmas pudding was very good & so was the custard BUT my latte in a small glass had not much coffee there to drink through the foam. PS. Sorry no photos 'cos i 4got 2 bring my phone 😔

We came in for our family Christmas dinner and were served by Rachel. The food was great and filling. The service was fast and effective, got everything we needed. Into downside the music was pretty quiet could’ve been louder and would’ve been a better atmosphere. Over all great!

They have good quality toilet paper. I never trust a restaurant which shooses cheap toilet paper.

A Fantastic Spot for a Roast! The roast was excellent, and the only downside was the wait time for a table. However, Jay quickly resolved the issue with her delightful attitude and excellent service. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be returning!

Food was fine but queue for carvery was sooooo long. What made our evening was our lovely server, Chelsea. Just the nicest, friendliest young woman. What a sweetie! She really cheered us up. An asset to the company.

Food nice but lukewarm and very small portions of meats.

Absolutely shocking service sat and waited to be served. No service from any of the staff.people arriving after us were being served to point we had to walk out. On way out was thanked and told them service was shocking.

Tonight was me and my man’s anniversary dinner, Our server was Sophie, to start with she was really nice and polite and when it came to ordering she was really accommodating to my coconut allergy as well. Overall service during dinner was more than 5 stars from Sophie. Overall happy with the service and atmosphere of the restaurant too.

It ws very busy when i was there , but the staff managed well.

Arrived to great service, then went for our carvery, to have to receive our meats, then wait 20 minutes for sides to be refilled. Wasn't too impressed at all.

This is probably the slowest carvery server i have ever been to The meat carver girl didnt have a clue what she was doing the queue was unbelievable and everyone was really fed up we waited over 40 minutes in queue to get served untik someone came and helped her The meat portions are far to small especially when your paying over £12.50 Probably wont return to this one and will only go to others when there us offers on Feeling quite deflated

Considering how busy the restaurant was, I was still served in good time. Nina was quick and friendly. The chef was polite and answered any questions. The meats were tender and tasty, roastys were a little dry but tasty. The rest of the sides and vegetables were spot on. Dumplings are new, okay but I wouldn't have them again.

Good carvery, plenty of choice, good gravy and friendly staff. It's even better now that you can book a table, order your food and pay your bill all using the app. And it's been refurbished, pity there was no Turkey left when we went as they had gone through 4 that day. But it was still good.

When is busy the veg and macaroni can be overlooked. You're left scraping the containers

The Toby Carvery has been recently refurbished and looks lovely. It’s so much cosier and cleaner in there. Our server Kevin was lovely. He was friendly and helpful. The food was fresh, hot and plentiful with dishes being replenished as soon as they emptied.

Went with my dad for lunch, place is lovely since refurbishment and our server Lins was very attentive. Ensured our seats were ok, checked on us throughout the meal. Carvery was fresh and tasty - what's not to like? Will definitely be back, great service and great food
