Caitlin was first class. Very friendly, efficient, personable and bubbly. She made us so welcome and is a great ambassador for Toby Bathgate. We will certainly return.

After experiencing how dismal the Carlisle Toby carvery is I will never complain about this one again. Always fresh food, haggis and tattie scone!

Brilliant service from Chelsea food amazing

Went here tonight and it was awful. There was no pork or gammon ready and the roast beef looked a bit ropey (dried and the carvers knife was just tearing it instead of cutting). The sides were a disgrace. The green beans, peas and carrots had all dried out (the (what I assume was) butter on the carrots had split it had sat for so long). There was no onions in gravy aside from a scraping on the bottom of the container. The stuffing was a single congealed dried mass. The parsnips looked like leather. The roast potatoes had been heated to the point they resembles pebbles. It’s a far fall from the quality I had expected.

Arrived a little early due to traffic being good for once lol, had to wait as was busy but again we did arrive early so not issues with that our Server who I can't remember his name but he was absolutely fantastic nothing was an issue he was great with out 3 kids and was well mannered and presented well, however the food wasn't anywhere near as good as it normally is the carvery service was slow and the carvery deck was a mess with old food and dried out veg not geat the staff member carving wasn't exactly welcoming either I did ask the server if this was normal for a Sunday because paying more on a Sunday I'd expect better quality on the food side of things today was a let down for us we will be back as we enjoy Bathgate Farm but praying it's better than today!

We stayed 2 nights in the Premier in next door on the 25/26 April, unfortunately the Premier inn did not serve food, we ventured next door to the Toby, on arrival we had a drink, then tried to book to go into the restaurant, to be told there was no tables available, another member of staff came over and just pointed to a corner, the whole restaurant was cluttered with dirty plates, and dirty tables, this was around 7.45pm, and I’d say the restaurant was only half full, the food was all dry, and the staff, were very unhelpful, once we had finished, we ventured back to the bar, for another drink, the staff seemed confused and again unhelpful, no one seemed in charge, and there was no organisation, we wish we could have gone to somewhere else, but we’re on the outskirts of the town, the second night, was exactly the same, very poor, fortunately we’d eaten this time before we got back to the hotel, but the staff in the Toby, were shocking, the attitude they had, there was zero customer service, we have a Toby in the village where I live back home in Cleadon, and never had a issue,

Very delicious dinner, also for vegetarians. Stylish, atmospheric place. You can spend time pleasantly with a beer or coffee, many possibilities. I will definitely go back there.

Sophie served us, she was very nice and welcoming. Food was very good. Service was excellent, waited slightly longer than usual for dessert but apart from that it was perfect.

The main course was the carvery which was good, I ordered a floter liquor coffee Which was on the menu but apparently only the manager know how to make it and she was in a meeting so I had to wait 30 minutes, surly if it's on the menu the bar staff should be able to make it?

Ann provided great service. Was knowledge as a bar tender. And was a pleasure to deal with.

We didn’t book a table as we had expected it would be quiet with the weather being poor. To our surprise we were greeted with an extremely busy restaurant. Thankfully, we were fortunate enough, not only to get a table, but one by the window with views over the beer garden. After being seated the most delightful young lady named Caitlin took our order. She was the sunshine to this rainy day, with her warming embrace and lovely smile. Her professionalism was not unnoticed and despite being a busy period, made us feel welcomed by taking her time to ask us about our day. Throughout the evening her personality shined through with her great whit and humour. Toby Carvery is truly lucky to have such a bright individual work for them with an eagerness to work(I never noticed her stop once) We will definitely be back and hopefully get served by Caitlin again.

Went in 12th April at 5.30pm veg selection poor no carrots parsnips burnt cauliflower nearly gone and looked dead green beans not even green no onions in gravy just put me off my dinner spoke to the manager he just did not get my point

Really nice lunch, good service. A special mention to Mark the KP, I met him when asking for directions and he was so nice, he is also very passionate about his job and clearly works very hard behind the scenes.

We went for breakfast, wasn’t the best. Place was quiet and service wasn’t great either.

Staying in the hotel next door for work so popped in for Dinner. The food as is OK, you kind of know what you’re going to get, it’s not Michelin Star but then it’s very reasonably priced. Service was great, Hannah was friendly and helpful so overall a pleasant experience.

2 bits of gammon (overly salted) and 2 bits of turkey. Mash dry, roasties could put a window in. Almost £20 with delivery. A Bisto frozen ready meal would trumph the carvery 👍

Another positive visit , colleagues professional, the new veg tray bake is absolutely delicious, We were sat at or table for two and there was a family with small children who were impeccably behaved , when we lift I complimented the parent how well behaved their children were .

Very happy with my order, the food was lovely with a good selection. It did require a quick re-heat but since it was coming from Bathgate to Whitburn I’m not complaining (veg is hard to keep warm). Will definitely order again.

Only restaurant I've ever been to where the tables NOT to sit at are the ones with cutlery,bit embarrassing being shouted at from bar for going to wrong table/wrong section etc.not for me,ate elsewhere

Great for a Sunday Especially with the family

If the service wasn’t so poor, we’d be back in a heartbeat… My partner and I visited last night, got shown to our table as soon as we entered and the server was friendly! However, it took the server 30 minutes to take our drinks and starter order! Plus, a family who were shown to their table AFTER us got their drinks order taken BEFORE us. The carvery however was absolutely top notch, delicious and lots to choose from. The cheesy mushrooms for starters were probably the best cheesy mushrooms I’ve had in a while at a restaurant. I was annoyed that the gammon had ran out literally as soon as it was my turn as it was one of the meats I was going to choose, and the chef said the next gammon won’t be ready for another 15/20 minutes. My suggestions would be: make sure the next meats/veg are ready for when they run out, and make sure your servers are on the ball with the customers they are looking after! Sadly, although the food was nice, I don’t think we will be back.

The beef was full of fat and pretty inedible - which was a shame as we had only ordered beef for one meal. The veg was nice

Didn't book a table but we were given one straight away. Lovely attentive staff. Informative off my gluten free choices available. Only negatives we found were...food wasn't very hot. Some of the vegetables, especially the carrots cold. And the parsnips were cremated, way overcooked!!. But good value for money. We would return though, hopefully the food would be hot 🔥.

Visited on a Friday afternoon. Not overly busy. When we got in line to be served carvery. There was no pork( no harm done ) it happens. But the problems started when the server was prepared to cut the beef. It was the smallest lump of fat you had ever seen. When mentioned to server he informed us he had to use it all before he brought other joint out ( I would not have given that bit of fat to my dog) . After roast beef came out we were faced with the very poor selection of vegetables. When we asked the server, were we expected to eat these he just gave us a blank stare. After refusing to eat these give them their due the kitchen burst into life . Now not to complain too much . But surely one of the staples of toby carvery is mash potatoes and their famous gravy. No mash potatoes for 20 mins we were told and the gravy would be right out. But to be expected to scrape the pots for vegetables is beyond the joke. We eat here all the time. So maybe just having a bad day because it’s usually good

Ordered salmon and dill pie what I got was flaky puff pastry and the smallest piece of salmon which took 35 minutes and nothing else they seem to struggle with anything other than carvery
