The Fairway Hotel in West Lothian

Perfect for occasion and great staff. We hired the function room for a wake. The food was amazing the staff were there and helpful but not over the top. There were leftovers and they helped us take them home plus they didn't rush us out even though there were only a small number of us. They were just amazingly hospitalable. Lovely people, lovely venue and highly recommend.

We recently had dinner at the Fairway Hotel and Restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A special shoutout to Soni and Demi, who made our evening extra special with their friendly and attentive service. They were both so welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Highly recommend this place for a lovely dining experience—can’t wait to come back!

What a lovely 3 night stay we had at the Fairways . When we arrived we was greeted by Alan, nothing was too much to ask for. We had drinks in the bar, breakfast & dinner for our stay. Service from staff was spot on & the food was delicious, I two deserts on my last night, yum yum. Will definitely be back. Thank you xx

Been twice in last week food been lovely both times mice amd fresh cooked. The staff were so nice. Even let my kids play football in function suite and gave them lollipops etc. The staff really do Go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Will for sure be back 🙂

My coworkers and I were in on Sunday for dinner. We highly enjoyed our food here, especially the mains. The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were incredible at keeping on top of our needs, Abby and Sam were so professional and friendly. Thank you again. Girls from TSD. X

Took my wife for a meal fairway about 12.00 and got a great welcome from 2 very nice people who made us very welcome we made our order and within 15mins got our meal at the table with the courtesy from this lovely guy that made us feel special and both guys would come over to make sure everything was ok, my wife even dropped her napkin on the floor and the gentleman was straight over with a couple new ones, with no hassle (very professional but tell u what we both would definitely go back again so well done the guys from the fairway

We havent been in a while and were pleasantly suprised. The food and service was brilliant june 2024.

We absolutely enjoyed our meals. The meals were served on the plates perfectly. My Balmoral Haggis was the best I've had. Heather enjoyed her Sunday roast and my mother really enjoyed her meal. We were taken really good care of by the two members of staff, Sam and Mike. Also thank you to the kitchen for making 3 lovely meals for three very happy customers.

Hàvnt been for ages as had went down hill but now new owners went yesterday no one in thought oh no but younge girl very polite and helpfull got steak pie and was delicious then got cheesecake delicious will def be back and worth a go everyone hope it gets as busy as it used to be

I stayed at the Fairway Hotel & Restaurant for four nights whilst on a course at a nearby training centre. Staff - All amazing. Mike (Manager) was awaiting my (late) arrival at 11pm, very a very professional and pleasant young man. Shirley saw to my breakfast every day, and remembered what I would have (soon as she seen me she popped the coffee machine on for my brew), and her breakfasts were delicious! Worth a special mention is that her Tattie Scones were prepared perfectly! Marty looked after my evening meals, and I enjoyed her chat and banter. Often coming over to check if I wanted "another prosecco". :) All three are a credit to the Fairway, and an asset to the hospitality industry. Room - The (family) room was okay, double bed and a single bed. The room was a little tired but clean and if you're just wanting a place to sleep it does the job. There's tea/coffee facilities in the room on a side unit, that can be doubled as a small desk but you've to sit on the bed to use. A lick of paint, some new sockets and mattresses and a small desk would make it an ideal room if you were working away. If I was down with family, it would of been fine, but would benefit from a little refresh. Food - The restaurant was excellent. I normally go for a burger if eating out, but I had Shirley had mentioned the steak pie on my first morning, so I thought I'd give it a bash. Delicious is an understatement. I had the burger the next night, before going for the steak pie again on night three. Haggis Bon Bons were my starter every night as they were also amazing. I'm not sure who the chef is, but they are a master in the kitchen. I have no doubt, if I'm ever in Bathgate, or the surrounding area, the Fairway is the only place I would go for food!

The Fairway is a lovely alternative to the monotony of premiere Inns and the like. The rooms are adequate and reflected in the value with tea and coffee facilities and plenty of plug sockets. The included, fresh cooked breakfast was lovely and served by the warm friendly, staff. Even if we were unable to stay here in the future we would definitely go for breakfast and Shirley’s lovely hospitality.

Visited with family for a meal and the food was lovely, service was friendly and efficient. Disabled parking was a wee bit of a walk from the restaurant door but other than that it was a good visit. :)

I visited on Mother’s Day and had been taken out for lunch by two of my grandsons for the first time. What a disaster this turned out to be, staff were pleasant but after lengthy wait for a drink we had to ask for a menu, sadly we didn’t order starters as these seemed to come out of kitchen reasonably quickly, however no mains came near our table. When asked how long we would have to wait for food, having waited an hour, the member of staff went into kitchen supposedly to ask but when she came out she avoided our table so we never got an answer. After waiting for an hour and twenty minutes we decided to leave as my 9year old grandson was very hungry, in all my 77 years of life I have never left a restaurant and told them I wasn’t paying for the drinks we had which upset me greatly.

Out of all the days you would think the restaurant would be prepared would be Mother’s Day. Im sure the covers would have been all booked and along with a function the restaurant would have known how many people they had to organise for. Where do I start, our booking was for 1pm for 5 people. There were 2 members of staff serving a full restaurant of customers. It took 20 minutes for someone to ask us for a drinks order. 20 minutes later my dad had to ask if we could order our food. The server took our starter order and nothing else so we had to ask the other server to take our main meal order so we wouldn’t get our starters and still have no order in place for our mains. This was also a set menu for the day that should have made service even easier for the chefs. I know this because I was a chef for 5 years. Our starters did arrive fairly quickly but that’s where the service ends. It took until 3:05 before we received our main meals. Over 2 hours after our booking time. The food arrived warm and no more, I had braised beef with pepper sauce which arrived with a skin over it and when I put a chip in the sce and shook it the full sce wobbled like jelly. The veg had dried mixed herbs sprinkled over it so was inedible. What chef on the planet would sprinkle dry herbs on dry veg just before the food is served. As this was all going on with my table there were tables walking out after drinks or after their starter due to the wait. It really was a shocking state of affairs. The restaurant in no way was organised for the day and looked like the pressure of serving the function took away any level of service from the restaurant. It is such a shame that another previously fantastic restaurant in Bathgate has faded into a poor restaurant and basically ran into the ground by owners that don’t seem to know what they are doing. I certainly won’t be back, I was there a few weeks back and the food was ok but the service was poor. It seems even the waiting staff have no experience. Young adults certainly are a big part of any restaurant but that only works if you also have experience working with them not left to fend for themselves. As I said previously it’s such a shame that a once thriving restaurant has become somewhere that most people wouldn’t go to eat.

We were here for a family meal 2 Adults and 1 Teenager. Food was lovely and price was good. Could not fault the service would go again

We had booked Christmas Dinner 5 adults one child £56 pee head .we was the last table in had to wait on table being laid can I say the Dinner was not worth the money Burnet parsnips frozen roast potatoes no sprouts and as for the Christmas pudding it was a joke I'm sure it was malt loaf cold and cold brandy sauce and for the service it was terrible, we felt like they just did not care we left and felt like we wasted are money. We went back in to speak to the owner he was not in ,so we left a contact number and gess what no call ,definitely will not go back.

Myself, other half and two friends booked here last night for dinner. I had never been for food before however had heard good things. We will all be back, the food was DELICIOUS with very generous portions, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the place was clean and warm on what was a freezing night, overall just a lovely experience.

Very noisy from the road. Floor and flooring very uneven. Decor very poor. Booked for 2 nights only stayed one. Breakfast very greasy!

This function suite is part of the Fairway Hotel & Resturant, which is listed separately by Google. A dear friend of mine held his wedding reception in this function suite, with top quality catering provided by The Fairway Hotel. This venue is large enough to hold large wedding parties, with tables & chairs spread out surrounding the wooden dance floor, where several dancing couples can dance comfortably together. Not having been the one to make the booking, I cannot comment on whether it is value for money or not, but I certainly cannot find fault with it.

Absolutely lovely place, staff are so friendly and fun. Definitely recommend good price and AMAZING food.

My wife and I were staying in Edinburgh on Vacation and decided to stay here our two nights. When we got to the hotel around 9pm and to no fault of their own they were double booked and didn’t have a room for us. We booked through Priceline and their customer service was of no help finding us a new hotel to stay at. Even though the staff here was super friendly and let us get out of the rain and charge our phones and use their phone call other hotels all this even after they were closed for the evening. We ended up having to wander around in the rain after midnight trying to find a hotel to stay at.

On the 29th of September 2023, My new Wife and I got married at the fairway in their function suite, and they done a remarkable job, with the information transfer between the team, and managers. With special thanks to the full team who were all involved. Staff were extremely helpful, quick at turn over with the room between phases of the wedding and The Owner Allan couldn't have been more of a Star than anything, and with a smile on his face the whole way (even with me being a pest with questions lol). Really glad we chose the fairway and hope that future events such as ours are as special as we had it

Just been to the Fairway, Bathgate for lunch. What an absolute joy Fiore the manager/receptionist/barmaid/waitress is. Great menu and everything served with a smile. Food was delicious too

Restaurant was lovely , food was great and service was absolutely brilliant, but the rooms really need updated as bathroom really old stains on walls and rooms to cramped , some wall sockets cracked and not one socket to where the kettle is situated as had to move to a socket near the floor to boil it

I would not recommend this establishment for a wedding or any venue. I booked here for my wedding reception the meals was ok the communications are terrible I had to ask about the drink for the toast they said it got cancelled which I didn’t we felt the meal got rushed we had no entertainment as in music for around 2 to 3 hours the dj came and set up and went away again the staff kept asking about the payment for the venue in front of everyone which is absolutely ridiculous my husband did pay it but a lot of our guests said he should have refused because of this. The buffet was nice but even that was getting wrapped up and taken away back to the kitchen which it shouldn’t have been as we had paid for it. The prices are absolutely terrible they even charge you for a glass of water from the tap at £2.90. If I knew what I know now I would never have booked there. There was a christening on the next day so it wouldn’t surprise me if they had used the our buffet for the christening that was getting held an absolute disgrace

Stayed for one night and had dinner and breakfast. Food was lovely and the staff were really friendly, especially the restaurant manager. For one night’s stay the room was okay, but the double room was very compact and the one we had doesn’t match the photos on their website. The hotel really needs some investment and upgrading. The room flooring and furniture was old and tired looking, the bed base was from two different beds (but comfy enough), the walls in our room had greasy marks on them and the bathroom looks about 30 years old. But as I said it was fine for a night and reasonably priced.

Visited for first time in years and am sorry but apart from reasonable prices that the only positive i can give the restaurant carpet is in bad need of a deep clean or replaced,and a definate lingerin odour in air but worst part from meal was last few mouthfulls of a pint of best the taste suddenly turned foul and upon then inspecting the glass pint itself was greasy clouded in prints and grime and very bottom had a layer of scum and am sorry but wont be back nor would i recommend despite staff being very friendly from years ago using this to tonights visit cleanliness had fallen far short

The Food was lovely and the staff were amazing, had my 2 month old daughter there and they had her smiling the whole time !

Friendly staff, good location, free parking. We stayed here for one night and had dinner. The stay was ok. The room was cheap and small but big enough for one night. We had to use the bed when opening our luggage. The bath room was bigger in comparison even with a full bath. The bed itself was fine to sleep on for one night a bit smaller than we are used to. For diner we stayed because of the many vegetarian options. Food was good and was served quickly. Prices were good as well. The breakfast the next day was again really good and again vegetarian options available.

Staff were lovely, really made a difference to the stay. Room was quite small and could do with a refurb or a lick of paint but I had a comfortable sleep. Wife had breakfast and she said it was lovely. Lovely big car park on site. Can’t say I’d have a reason to stay in the area again but if I did I’d be happy staying here again, great value for money

Establishment well located near the station (easy to get to Edinburgh), friendly welcome, pleasant and professional staff, small but functional rooms with private bathroom. Good Scottish breakfast.

Stayed one night for the purpose of work and it did not disappoint, the staff were amazing, especially the boy who was training on his first day. The breakfast was very good too and the lady who served us did an amazing job. The rooms are a bit small but very cozy and for the price paid couldn’t of asked for better. Definitely will stay again if in the area.

Rooms confirmed by email previously. After a 6 hour drive, arrive to find rooms now not available. Made to stand in main bar whilst coustomers look at us like we are a couple of muppets. Yes, they paid for 1 of the 2 nights at the nearest Premier Inn, that is not the point. Their tardiness set our plans back 2 hours and it became a mad rush to get to the event we were attending. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The staff were very friendly and both the breakfast and dinner were really good. However, no hot water in the room we were staying in and the fact that the whole place was very run down left a lot to be desired. To be fair, we were moved to a better room on the second night of our stay - lovely people working there, but needs some proper investment.

We arrived and told to sit anywhere. Lady gave us menus then returned 10 mins later to ask what we wanted. We told her what we wanted and were told oh that's the old menu. Had to bite my tongue as was so close to saying we'll that's the menu you gave us. Sunday roast was nice but meat very fatty. A bug bear of mine is the lifting of finished plates before everyone is finished. Didn't find the staff over friendly. Won't be back.

If i could give 0 stars i would! This restaurant is not disabled friendly and the staffs lack of education on disabled needs is shocking!! Took my mum for lunch, when we went in we asked where the toilets were and if they were disabled (with my mum struggling to walk using a walking frame), we were pointed in the direction of the ladies toilet, took her in and her mobility frame wouldnt fit. I came out and asked which part of this toilet is disabled friendly to be told by the manager that the disabled toilet is actually back out the restaurant, through the car park and in the function suite. 1) staff did not direct us here in the first place and had my mum struggling to get out of the ladies toilet 2) how is someone with a mobility issue expected to walk out the restaurant, through a large car park and into another part of the building and back? Complete lack of education from staff on their disabled access toilet and the fact their disabled toilet isnt even in the restaurant is laughable and completely inaccessible. Wont be back and i recommend going somewhere else if you are disabled.

Myself and my family booked a Christmas meal here.. we arrived there were no staff around had to wait ages to find a staff member to buy drinks. The food was just awful.. Brussel sprouts brick hard cold turkey no roast potatoes which were stated on the menu.. we complained and the staff member said there was NO chef on so it must have been bar staff heating things up in the microwave.. got offered a free dessert the dessert was overdone in the microwave brick hard Christmas pudding with watery custard no brandy sauce as stated. We paid the bill but really we shouldn’t have.. the food was disgusting and we left hungry the service was terrible too. Definitely won’t be back

Spent a weekend here, staff and food was brilliant.

Visited on Saturday as everywhere else was fully booked. Food was delicious BUT we were astonished at how pricey it was, Edinburgh or Glasgow City Centre restaurants are even less costs for a meal. I think that's why there wasn't many people in the restaurant as it's a bit pricey. Also, the restaurant was cold, most people sat with their jackets on and one lady even put her scarf back on. Having a meal in a cold environment is not really enjoyable in my opinion. Turn the heating on, it's winter. Apart from extortionate prices and cold environment, we enjoyed our food and the wine is reasonably priced.

I really couldn't find anything wrong to say..my husband&I wer there over weekend for a wedding at the Vue...staff more than helpful even organised taxi for us..night porter was friendly...breakfast was great...defo recommend stay here if very siting the Vue...thank you to all staff&manager that wer on hand when we stayed there...

Restaurant review only: Food was reasonably priced and well presented. The linguine carbonara was slightly bland, but tasty enough. Looked clean and well kept with pleasant staff. Only in the area for a short while, otherwise would probably visit again.

Me & my partner went here for a meal & it was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, from the minute we arrived. The food was superb, we both ordered starters, I had the mozzarella sticks & my partner had the bruschetta, she said that it was excellent & the mozzarella sticks were also excellent. Our main meal was, the homemade steak pie & with rustic chips for my partner & I got the Macaroni cheese with bacon, served also with rustic chips. The food was piping hot & everything was freshly made, no frozen rubbish. I cannot say this enough here, but it was absolutely delicious, the chips were superb & the macaroni was also superb. My partner said the same about the homemade steak pie & the chips, the steak was proper & melt in the mouth. The service was also excellent, you are not hassled & once you have given your order, you are left to eat it with no interruptions. The staff are excellent. Overall, it was excellent. We are planning on going back & I would recommend if you have not been before, please do go.

Stayed overnight prior to travelling so location wise, it’s perfect for those travelling from Edinburgh Airport. Around 15 minutes or so away. We arrived fairly late and there were staff available on hand to check us in. Plenty of parking available. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Your not paying a stupid amount of money so don’t expect a 5* stay. The room decor could do with a little updating and the pillows could have been better but did the job for a night stay. Local supermarket within 5 minutes by car which was also convenient. Breakfast was served by a lovely lady and was fairly quick. Overall would recommend the place. Staff were great throughout our stay and nothing seemed an issue.

Staff go out there way to help everyone is very friendly. Girl behind the bar help us to get tie for hubby we left behind with short time someone handed one in I thought that was amazing.

I had my husbands funeral wake here (31/08)and it was horrible , sandwiches were filled with sloppy stuff mixed with peppers and were halved snd sat drooping on plates , staff were not much better , asked to speak to someone about this and was refused

Restaurant - lovely! Hotel - don't waste your money! I know you get what you pay for and this place is budget, but it didn't even meet the low expectations I had. Bed was awful, the springs were broken in certain parts so we woke up feeling like we'd been in a car accident. The floor was sticky, I wore flip flops the entire stay. The walls were covered in stains/marks and there were some dodgy electrics that absolutely wouldn't have passed building regulations. When we advised the hotel staff the next morning we were told 'they'll take our feedback on board'.

Fantastic value for money hotel... restaurant and function room Only a twenty minute drive from the hotel with easy access by Train or bus Check in is a little confusing...as no information outside.. Check In at the bar... The room was comfortable enough with a homely feel..tea and coffee making facilities.. Bathroom is quite large for en suite.. large bath and shower Double bed with wardrobe and dressing table... ample electric socket's The hotel consists of a bar restaurant and function room... Enjoyed a fantastic meals and highly recommend you try the food here Breakfast is freshly cooked and order is taken by a lovely lady called Shirley... Absolute breath of fresh air in the morning All in all a excellent stay...

I have stayed hear for almost 3 weeks now and the staff and management are lovely as well as the cleaning staff

Staff were great and the breakfast was spot on. Good value and a nice clean room with a comfy bed. We did however, get a considerable unexpected charge later on which could have gone unnoticed and has not been explained. Probably a simple mistake but speaks volumes about the administration of bookings if nothing else. Considering all payments were done online in advance this should not be an issue, and has reduced the overall review rating.

I did a booking via booking.com, when it came to check in in the afternoon it was no room for us! In some magic way a person with same surname as mine cancelled booking, so owner put the room on website. But anyway this person checked in. What a coincidence - another polish person in such a tiny city with same surname as me🤣🙈 which is rare anyway. No comment!

Went in for a quick Meal with my sister. Showed to a table promptly after arriving. Plenty interactions with the staff checking if we were ready to order or needing anything else etc. Great Food. Steak looked beautiful and according to my sister, cooked perfectly. Macaroni cheese was absolutely brilliant. Will be back for a proper meal in the future.

Really went down hill recently. All the good staff left and struggling to get get a beer poured. No one in leading to no atmosphere. Its a shame as was such a good pub and such a good location.

Amazing place and good steak and friendly staff

We had a table booked last night for a 50th the staff were outstanding. We asked to put banners up and the staff kindly did it for us. The time waiting for food we’re amazing considering there was 11 of us. Would highly recommend this place to everyone and will definitely be back. Well done to the chef also the food was amazing there was not 1 bit of food left on every plate.

Booked the Fairways for a mother's day meal at short notice after a booking at another restaurant was cancelled and I'm so glad I did. We got the £20 mother's day menu which was delicious and great value for money. Really lovely friendly service.

My daughter and I visited on Mothers Day. We were going to a theatre in Edinburgh so explained this to staff (although we had given ourselves an hour and half to eat). We didn’t realise it was a set menu (our mistake) and thought this limited menu would work in our favour time-wise. Our haggis bonbons arrived and were cold which was disappointing. Steak pie was ok but chips were cold and over cooked. Chicken was dry. Sweet was ok but how wrong can you go with chocolate mouse. A requested second drink never arrived. Service was slow (restaurant was not full) and main course arrived 50 minutes after arrival. In my opinion, the meal was not worth the £20 set fee. It’s a long time since I had been here for a meal and I suspect it will be a long time again till I return.

Decided to take my mum and dad out for dinner, and I know they love the fairway. All I can say is never fails to please my mum, and she is the most fussy eater. The staff were amazing. I think the lady was called steph? Nothing was a problem. My mum was so happy, and I was so shocked 😲 . As she is very hard to please. Amazing staff, great service and lovely to see some changes on the menu. Great gob fairway. Will be back very soon for sure. Loved ot.

Was a shambles when we arrived .booked with booking.com & Hotel.didnt have us marked.in Then eventually we got a room. Which I booked.double.room & when taken.up.to.room.its a single bed for 2guest shocking but staff were lovely

The only reason it's not 1 star is because the staff were really good and friendly. The decorum was like stepping back into the 90s and the food was like it was made then too, and just reheated now. A few points on the food, the steak pie admittedly was quite nice but a if a meal is advertised on the menu as dairy free, don't add butter to the veg. The Diane sauce tasted like peppercorn and vinegar. The rest was as drab as the carpet. Nice staff, really friendly and helpful but don't eat here if you value your stomach or taste buds.

I had pate for starters & fajitas for my main both were tasteless 🙄 very disappointing

If I could give 6 stars I would. Excellent hotel and restaurant, lovely food and cheap drinks. Always personal service. Would recommend to everyone who comes past here.

Excellent value, above a pub restaurant, main meals a little above price, but worth it. Drinks prices are excellent price. Will definitely be coming back again.

Went for a meal with my kids and partner. Food was ok, didn’t have to wait too long. Prices for kids meal were good but the main menu was a little expensive. The customer service from Barrie was second to none. He made our night very enjoyable and went above and beyond for us.

We were there on Christmas Day and we had a wonderful experience. Meal was absolutely fantastic, portions generous, atmosphere very festive and stuff friendly but professional at the same time, place was spotless, over all a great experience, I highly recomend it
