Visited over the weekend with friends for a meal. Food and service spot on 😊 friendly and helpful staff. Finished off a few drinks in the bar area for a game of pool. Definitely visit again thanks and see you soon 😊

We have had several meals at the Wellington and can not complain. The food is tasty and quite filling. The staff especially Keith, Kate and Kelsea are amazing. Really friendly and welcoming. They make a real difference to a great little pub and restaurant.

Food was good . Service very poor , slow and inattentive. Previous visit we could not fault in all areas . Very disappointed.

Lovely atmosphere and staff especially Keith who is very polite and attentive. We have been a few times now since the new owners took over and we are very impressed ! Will definitely be going again.

This is such a lovely place!! They have amazing staff! Really make you feel welcomed! They do loads of social events to support the community... Absolutely lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely! Will be here again soon !

Great food, best in the local area and staff are unbelievable. Would highly recommend. We were originally going to go the childe for our weekly outing but decided to try the wellington after our friend group recommended to us. The reputation of the pub growing so we gave it a shot, we were greeted by a young lady who showed us to our seats, the chef came and spoke to us about what he recommended so we ordered two hand battered fish. To say I was surprised was an understatement, the fish was huge aswell as tasty and the portions were excellent. The pub is definitely picking up its reputation and we will definitely be back.

Welcomed with a warm smile and to a warm and clean space. Ordered food at the bar and drinks, was told to take a seat and drinks would be brought over. Food was cooked and served quickly - it was really nice and reasonably priced. It’s my first time coming here but came due to the recommendation from my Mum. The place seems like it wants to make a difference, raising money for the community and having an external defibrillator outside the premises for public use is a big plus. You don’t seem to get a really good warm local welcome in these local pubs any more, well this one delivers. I was present when the staff talked to their regulars and thanked them for coming back. Am here to support to this place, it has a quiz on this evening so decided to stay and give it a whirl. As I sit in the bar area and listen to the regulars and the staff engage and ask if am OK as I wait, do I need anything and the staff couldn’t work any harder to make this place. So give it a whirl, how many local pubs have we lost due to Covid, so am really looking forward to getting to know the staff and new management here and will be sure to visit regularly. I travel a lot with work and it’s just nice to be somewhere local and welcoming. Thank you to the team - PS love the teapots…. Still think they could be the prize for the winner of the quiz!!

Lovely food and accommodated our requests to swap chips for jacket potato - really appreciative of this. Serving staff truly friendly and helpful and food quality was delicious. Even finished my mother in laws sausage and mash because the gravy was absolutely delightful! Chicken kebab - flavoured beautifully with piri piri sauce on the side ! Steak - delicious with jacket potato, cooked to perfection Sausage and mash - gravy was thick and tasty and sausages were really tasty! Would highly recommend !

Staff at the wellington were brilliant, found us a seat within minutes even with the restaurant being being full. Food was amazing, I had a rump steak cooked perfectly medium rare, seasoned beautifully. The roast dinner my partner ordered was great. Gravy was stunning, thanks to the waitress who sorted the table for us and was so polite, we will be back.

We were a large family group and despite the service starting off well, when the food arrived everyone was disappointed with the quality of their meal. The roasts especially poor, obviously frozen and heated up. The Yorkshire puddings were cold and the waitress brought fresh, only for them to charge us for the additional Yorkshire puddings as they had started to be eaten. Never experienced this poor service in a restaurant before. The chicken burgers stated it came with a pot of gravy - it didn’t. Side order of onion rings never arrived. Poor communication from waitress regarding an error with the food order. Overall disappointing and won’t be returning.

Large table of us on a sunday afternoon. I ordered the roast turkey as they had no roast chicken, (how can a pub run out , it wasn't chokker). To say I was disappointed was an understatement. Yes I ate it all, I was bloody starving, but it was so awful. Frozen roasties , smallest portion of eat I've come across. Just bland roast dinner. Then came the Yorkshire pud. Flat, anaemic doughie. Wasn't cooked and was very cold in places. Same as my mum and dad's. I sent mine back. Also complained about my parents. They brought another one for me. Same again. Just warmer. Still flat.. So they came out with a plate of 3 more. These were a bit better. But at the end, they charged us for 2 extra ones, because mum and dad had started eating theirs. All other meals were mediocre. The service was good, given the size of the party we had and a few other big tables. Cannot fault the waitress. But the food , I would not go back here. Shame, hale village is lovely but has 2 really poor pubs for food. This is the worst of the 2.

came with my sisters for lunch today, couldnt fault the service, super friendly helpful staff and the food was excellent. lovely atmosphere and a special thanks to katie who went tbe extra mile to make it a lovely experience. also very good value for money and food was piping hot. we will definetly return and i would recommend to family and friends without hesitation

Just a massive thank you to all the staff at the wellington pub. They were a big help in arranging the gathering after my mum’s funeral. The food was excellent and everything ran smoothly. Thank you again. I would highly recommend the wellington for a function.

We have been visiting this pup since 1979, over the past few years, it’s had many managers, some making it work, some not! At the moment ias a family have used the conservatory upper part, once for an 18th in August, a baby girls 1st birthday 11th November and a grandsons christening on Sunday 19th November, each event we found Debbie and her team delivering a fantastic service going above and beyond!! The food buffet style has been a huge success on every occasion!! We hope we have many years of service with this team and all their future plans come to fruition! Keep doing what you do!!!

The food was absolutely amazing. I would recommend anytime to anyone that ask and to anyone that doesn't know the Wellington. It is a family oriented and the staff are friendly. Absolute credit to the community.

Visited today with a group of friends for Sunday lunch, the service was so welcoming and the staff were friendly and happy to see us again. We had the best Sunday lunch we have had in a long time, the homemade stuffing was a huge hit with us. We couldn't resist the dessert menu either and it didn't dissapoint. We will be back soon for our festive feast, so nice to feel like old friends of the team here .

We have been visiting for a while now and have never been dissapointed. The staff have become like friends and even know the kids names by heart and always take the time to check the kids are ok and always have plenty of fun things to occupy them on every visit. The food is delicious and we highly reccomend the fish and chips.

Came with my mum, baby and toddler for lunch, food was lovely, good portion size and staff were great with the kids. We live in the village so will be returning.

Visited Hale village with a group of friends 8 of us in total, had our lunch at The Wellington Hotel the food was delicious and with the lunchtime special we were able to treat ourselves to a nice pudding. Debbie and her staff were very friendly and really looked after us, would certainly recommend.

Went to Hale village today to visit the childe of Hale, we were a group of 8 feeling peckish we settled on a pub called the Wellington. Having gone inside we were greeted by Debbie with a lovely smile, really friendly and helpful. Suggestions on which menu, food was nicely presented piping hot and a good choice and value for money. All 8 of us would go again and highly recommend it.

We found ouselves passing through Hale in need of dinner and picked the Wellington. Pub was well populated with locals, one of whom reassured us the food would be good, and it was. I had the Nachos, well executed and far more than one person can eat (it is a "sharer"), my wife had the spicy burger with a lovely salad (her choice.) The ale was decent (I'm a Southerner so there's always a challenge there!) and the prices were extremely reasonable (I know there's a cost of living crisis but so many pubs are setting stupid prices for basic meals.) Best of all was the atmosphere, the manager and server were genuinely welcoming and friendly, as were the locals who pased us by. Plus a view of the crown green bowls on the back lawn! We would definitely return again...

The staff were very helpful and friendly generally and found us a table in the bar area to accommodate the fact we had a dog with us. The starters were very nice and generous portions. However, the main courses were not quite as advertised and had items missing. My vegetable chilli was supposed to come with guacamole, salsa, tortilla chips, jalapeños and rice. What actually arrived was a very small portion of chilli (no more than about 2 tablespoons) a portion of chips and a few dry tortilla chips. Two of our party ordered Mac and cheese which was supposed to come with garlic bread and a salad garnish,both of which were missing. After a reminder, the garlic bread eventually arrived,but the two who had the Mac and cheese had practically finished eating it by that time. My son ordered and paid for peppercorn sauce to go with his steak and he only remembered afterwards that did not arrive.So all in all we did not get what we paid for and will not be back again.

Excellent food .... Staff both front of house and Bar staff very welcoming and could not do enough for us . Manager was very friendly and made sure that all our needs where catered for .... Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We did initially want lunch but the place is so grubby decided against it. Only the bar at the back was open. The outside alone puts you off the place cigarette stumps everywhere. It is nothing like it once was so depressing.

I booked with The Wellington for my Mums wake, and my expectation was quite high as my Mum deserved the best send off. I paid for a cold buffet, and TBH I would've been happy with some butties and Mr Kiplings, but the buffet was really good. There was a selection of sandwiches, cheeses, pasta, salad, chips which were hot, onions rings and most peoples favourite chicken skewers. There was tea and coffee. My family were very happy.

Food took a lifetime to come out, once it did half was overcooked and other bits were undercooked, Very dry and tasteless junk. Been twice this month and WIILL NOT be going back any time soon. The beers we had also tasted like chlorine, yuck.!

Food was discussing, chef clearly has minimal experience in a kitchen, I had a hair in my food and my friends chicken was raw in the middle. Spoke to the manager who was extremely rude and explained the chef was new and has to learn. Terrible experience and will not be going there again, Childe is much better. All five of us called in for Sunday Roast and was not disappointed. It's been upgraded with some nice little touches and the food presentation and quality was excellent. They've got a new chef and it really shows! It was the best meal we've had in the Welly in the last 13 years.

It has been taken over recently and the new owners are both chefs.... You have to try this place to believe it... just a shame we have to shout about it because it’s hale villages’s best kept secret ....

We visited here after a long walk with our dog. The dog friendly area had comfortable seating for us, and water bowls for dogs. There was a good vegetarian and vegan choice. We had a selection of starters for our lunch, all really good, especially the cauliflower ‘wings’. We’ll be back next time we have a dog walk in Hale.

I think that this pub has fairly recently undergone new management. The owner/manager and staff are great, helpful and attentive. This is lovely dog-friendly pub with a grassed garden area outside too. The food is wonderful. A very extensive menu with a huge range of dishes suitable for vegans and vegetarians - and calorie counted as well! The food is cooked on the premises and the prices are very good. I cannot recommend this place enough and I have started to come here on a monthly basis with friends. Excellent all round. Thank you.

Would not recommend this pub to anybody food is disgusting management are very rude unfriendly unprofessional and never smile or show a friendly welcome.We had a problem with our meals and when we complained Ian the manager was vile never experienced anything like it in my life will never go there again unless there was new Management put in place.If I could give no stars I would.
