Went to take advantage of the beer garden in the sun. Nice little pub to grab a pint! Food looked good, will have to go back to try that!

Food was home cooked and amazing couldent fault it .. so tasty n gravy was lush well done guys we will be back will reccomend to friends and family without a doubt

Fish and salt & pepper meals are a must, I wasn't a big fan of the burger so won't be ordering that again. Staff and atmosphere amazing, we pop in now and then on a Saturday walk and always bustling which is nice to see. Need to go back and get the roasts now

At the moment my partner is finding mobility and eating increasingly difficult.i saw a review on Facebook of a roast take away order and roast lamb being his favourite I decided to order one for us both. I had chicken and there was plenty intact so much I had to eat it in 2 sittings.my partner got the child roast and even that was plentyful. Ordering was simply over messenger but normally you just ring.i ordered for 4pm and i came just before 4pm. We've only just moved to runcorn in January and im hoping as soon as he is back on his feet to visit I person. Thankyou!

Sunday lunch today was gorgeous 5 of us went and it was 1st class as always Barman Bobby served with a smile highly recomend 🥰🥰

Called in for a Guinness and Madri while walking the dog up the hills. Great view out the back and the beer was superb, served correctly and obviously looked after 👍

Been going here for 30 years, or more. Seen many owners come and go. Hopefully the new people running the pub can make it work, they deserve too, nice people in a well run pub, deserves to succeed. See you all again soon.

Great to return to a quality venue, welcome atmosphere, wide selection of beers and wines. Menu is not vast but excellent throughout. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff who went out of their way to help us out. Great drinks with a decent range including two cask ales. The food was excellent; arrived quickly, very hot, plenty of it (Sunday lunch) and very tasty.

Absolutely awful, £11 for 2 slices of beef, some mash, soggy roast potatoes and a soft Yorkshire pudding. I had to pay £1.25 extra for any sides, I had cauliflower cheese which I wouldn't recommend, overboiled parsnips & soft soggy carrots & what seemed like bisto gravey. The whole meal was tasteless. I overheard the chef saying he was hung over from the night before & judging by the food you could tell he couldn't be arsed making any effort. All in all a very regrettable decision to eat here. Never again will I grace them with my presence.

Just had Sunday lunch at the prospect Runcorn if you haven’t been yet then treat yourself. Friendly atmosphere spotlessly clean. We had the roast beef cut straight off a joint not the processed stuff you sometimes get, fresh veg roast/mash potatoes and gravy. Good big portions tasty hot food followed by a nice chocolate desert and ice cream. Great lunch would really highly recommend it and will be going again. The midweek menu looks good too.

Went in there for my tea after we had a power outage, the staff were lovely. I originally ordered a pasta dish and they apoligetically came back and told me they had no pasta. They let me order something else at no extra cost to me, will be going again.

Well we did the right thing choosing here for our Sunday dinner. Big, big portions, plate was warm so it kept hot whilst we worked our way through it all. Very reasonably priced for the size. They also do an “ultra” sized portion where you get extra veg, pigs in blankets, stuffing etc. But no way could we have eaten any more than we did, glad we got the normal size. Staff were very pleasant and helpful

Friend booked ages ago for 3 Ladies for today at 1.30pm , confirmed booking on line yesterday from Prospect Inn. We arrived to find place shut and only open at 2pm for drinks not food. Not impressed , no one told us and we where left in middle of nowhere having been dropped off and had to sort out lifts to some where new at moments notice. Cannot give comments on food etc as didn't get in , should have been informed of cancellation. 3 Ladies at lunch.

Very nice pub with friendly staff and the Sunday brunch was spot on the four of us all loved it and it was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. The food was hot & very tasty thanks for the good experience

Went for Sunday lunch with my partner, I had a standard lunch he had the bigger portion, both were delicious, plentiful and well cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Covid rules were followed, the place was spotless. Thank you we will book here again.

Had a Sunday Roast this week and probably one of the best I've had as a take away. Good size portions and fresh veg. Good selection of meats. Got a slice of beef turkey and gammon on the large roast

Absolutely 1st class dinner! Highly recommended, homemade yorkies, pigs in blankets, homemade stuffing and huge portions of locally sourced Ham! AND I AM VERY PICKY REGARDING FOOD WOULD NOT BE OUT OF PLACE SERVED IN THE SAVOY! 👍 Can take away remainder if your kids portion defeats them!!!🤣

Good choice of beers, food is reasonable

When we phoned to enquire about booking a table, we were advised it would not be necessary. When we arrived we could not get into the car parkas a bin wagon had blocked entrance. We were the only people in the lounge and were advised a number of dishes were not available. The food was hot and well cooked (fish batter over cooked). Most of the deserts were also not available, only enough ice cream for one. Staff friendly and it was clean. We will not be returning.

Back to how it used to be when I lived across the road. Brilliant pub.

I ate here today for Sunday lunch, the reason I have given a 4 is the food was gorgeous. They advertise 2 Sunday roasts for £12.95 outside Gents toilet yet charged £15 90, when we ask barmaid was just told , "Idon't know, but thanks for letting me know"??? We didn't bother challenging as these are young inexperienced girls who clearly have not been trained properly, so not their fault. Bar a bit of a mess not much choice, used to have variety of gins etc. Gone down hill. Pity used to be a great pub.

Wonderful little pub. Staff are great. Particularly the kitchen staff. Allowed us to order off of the take away menu despite sitting in. Would 100% come back again. Good to see the venue is back up on its feet with staff that genuinely care.

I have had many a Sunday Lunch here,with family & friends over the years . Not been for a while as it closed .. went today ,looking forward to a great Sunday lunch...after 35 minutes sitting in an empty room ( apart from 2 ladies ) ...with no sign or smell of food ..I asked how long it might be?? The young barmaid said she had no idea ..we asked for a refund and left ..Such a shame the place has ended up so disorganized

First time visit since previous owners left as wasn't sure if it was open, first normally couldn't get a table but there was no one in which was a surprise,food was ok not much choice and beef not up to standard,the pub itself didn't look as bright as it did before, I had a soft drink but only served from a bottle so was flat, husband had cask and that was ok, staff friendly and service was quick, overall ok

Have been here a few times under the new management and the food is gorgeous. Nothing too much trouble if you need a dish adapting or just want advice. I had a blue cooked steak tonight and it was perfect, hubby had chicken curry which he really enjoyed. Food is always piping hot and well presented. Totally recommend

Last week we had 3 takeaway roast dinners which were still warm when we got them home (winner winner chicken dinner!). The gravy was amazing, everything is home cooked and you can really tell. Veg was cooked to perfection, no soggy boiled to an inch of its life mush! Beautiful meat (beef, ham and chicken thighs) which were cooked just right. Fab Sunday lunch at a fab price! Good job guys. We’ll be back!

Decided to give the Sunday lunch takeaway a go, was honestly amazing, everything was cooked beautifully and was very filling. Ordered a glass of wine while waiting and food came out just as I’d finished it. Will definitely make this part of my Sunday routine and will certainly be back. 10/10

My wife and I visited the pub this evening for the first time since it reopened.The bar maid Aimee was so friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome.The Moretti beer on draught was a big plus but the big bonus was the fantastic fish,chips and mushy peas but more so the homemade chips, they were delicious, it’s about time the majority of establishments got rid of the frozen/ crimply chips and take a lesson from the Prospect Inn...Thank you, first class...

Visited with my daughter, what a lovely place! Staff very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Beautiful home cooked food at very good prices and excellent portions. Ive been told dogs are welcome in the bar area, great little place to call into for a drink and bite to eat when out walking nearby. Can't wait to come back!

Had a lovely meal. Steak night ( sirloin ) for 2 with bottle of house wine £24.99. Home made chips, steak cooked medium rare, homemade onion rings, peas and mushrooms plus sauce of choice. Highly reccomend. Can't wait to try the Sunday roast. 10/10

Steaks cooked perfect, with homemade chunky chips, onion rings and sauce with peas, mushrooms and grilled tomato on the side. Absolutely delicious! Had a lovely time. All staff very friendly, good service, nice atmosphere. Will be back very soon!

What a gem of a pub! I visited with my mum every week for a fabulous Sunday lunch. The food was amazing and what a good atmosphere and lovely staff. Its so sad that the current landladies are leaving - they created a wonderful friendly community and will be sorely missed by all their customers, including all the ones who popped in for their gorgeous takeaway Sunday lunches! A very hard act to follow!

Very lucky that this is one of my locals. It has a good draught beer selection, with new options each time I go in (3 or 4 times a month) and a wide selection of gins. The food is absolutely delicious - even the side salad garnish is amazing. I'm vegetarian and their choice is really good. They have a grill dinner but with halloumi instead of meat, so I get to have chips and mushrooms and peppercorn sauce like a normal person 😋 - it's probably my favourite pub meal. I've dropped a star only because it's not clear to new visitors what the process is for getting a table and ordering food, which tends to make me a bit uncomfortable. But once you're past that, or if that type of thing doesn't bother you anyway, it's a really good place 😊

I ordered chicken nuggets and chips as a meal for my child and it came on a SIDE plate ,with no option of peas or beans ,was meant to have a fruit shoot but came with out one ,so asked and got a cheap alternative (simply fruity ) paid £7. could have went Macdonald's and paid one pound more for a LARGE 20 chicken nugget MEAL with a large drink and chips with it.

I’ve been taking my mum out for Sunday lunch for about eight years now and for the last two years we have gone to The Prospect. Their Sunday roasts are the best we have had anywhere. It’s a 30 mile round trip for me but well worth it, we just can’t fault it. They’re very considerate of my gluten-free requests, the staff are lovely and the pub itself is really nice and very clean. Also, you don’t have to wait long for your meals. A friend who often dines with us chooses different meals and is always happy with them. Wish we’d thought of going to The Prospect from the beginning!

I didn't eat but lots of other where enjoying nice looking meals.Our drinks were served in matching glasses, I found this a nice touch. We had 2 kids with us and they were made welcome too

Honestly don't like writing reviews but on this occasion I will make an exception as it was awful :( Meat was more like dog meat and everything else was basically deep fried. I understand its pub grub and wasn't expecting a Michelin starred plate however this was truly terrible. I will never go here again for Sunday lunch unfortunately

This is a small pub which serves excellent food to the local community and is well supported. If you are in the area and want a reasonably priced meal, this is the place to go.

Sorry I really did not like the food here. The meat was nothing like a freshly roasted joint. The staff were lovely though.

Love the prospect, shame they redecorated the bar as I think it lost some of its character, that said the food is excellent as is the beer. Always like to nip in for a quick few after a walk through the hills.
