Ellie was very efficient this evening and was very helpful in changing my meal which I wasn't happy with, she had a lovely smile and was happy to change it .

Just held my father-in-law’s 100th birthday party at the Welby. The Welby holds a special place in his heart since he had been visiting it for over 80 years. Emma and Will, together with the rest of the staff made a special day absolutely wonderful. The buffet was excellent, with both quality and quantity and enjoyed by everyone. A fantastic afternoon and thoroughly recommended.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Emma the manager was really friendly and informative and spoke us through the menu as my friend has some allergies. Would definitely come again as great value for money too.

Sharon was very polite and attentive to our group !!

Ellie was lovely to me and my family. Our table was still occupied when we arrived , we were early for our booked table. But the previous party were not finished. Ellie cleared a table free for us and worked exceptionally hard to make our experience a lovely one. She deserves a medal for how she dealt with busy night.

We pop in when returning from Twinlakes, plenty of tables available, no booking need (Saturday) . Parking available. The place is a little dated but generally very cosy. We had an amazing meal in very reasonable prices. High chairs available. Absolutely spot on ! We will be back soon

Food was ok if you're happy with instant mash and crunchy cauliflower. I tried to my Blue Light Card for discount but told I had to use the app. I didn't want to download it so paid full price. I then realised I could have used the QR code on the Blue Light app, but was told it was too late as I'd already paid. It wouldn't have hurt to have refunded and charge again, but it wasn't offered. I didn't like the attitude so didn't pursue. My son was also given some attitude when he asked for an extra water glass. Needless to say he didn't get it. Cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for.

Can't fault the food and the staff. We all enjoyed our meals. Thank you

Very rude manager on sun 26/05/24. First of all the food was dreadful, the kids sausages must have been microwaved from the morning, I’m not surprised the little one didn’t touch them, his kids plastic ones would be less rubbery and the beef looked like Ghandi’s flip flop. We just accepted the fact the food was bad but when we realised we’d been charged extra for a kids drink even though it was supposed to be included and didn’t receive a pudding the manager said there was nothing she could do as it already went through. So we’ve been overcharged and missing items but there wasn’t anything they could do. If you care about your hard earned money and at least receiving what you’ve paid for, then definitely stay away.

I ate here with my girlfriend last week. We both had a Super Special for £9 each. Really good value. Nicola was really friendly and helped us because we didn’t realise there was an offer. Would definitely recommend.

Always come here for lunch or dinner. Service is always excellent and the staff always go above and beyond. We come to the karaoke nights every month too. Always a great atmosphere. Food is superb and they always cater for me with a gluten allergy. Shana has done a fantastic job there with the staff. They are all a credit to you.

I am a regular at this place arrive on a Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. To section of areas. Asking if we can sit in a comfortable area. Snotty nose ladies says no I have cleaned them areas. They don’t close till 10 o’clock. Disgusting service for regular people.

Don’t expect to get the meal you see on their website you won’t. Picture on the left is the meal I received, the meal on the right is what I thought I would get, disappointed isn’t even near to what I thought.

Been here a few times. It is what it is and does the job of a reasonably priced family eatery pretty well. However, that means it isn't the place to go for a quiet meal unless you pick your times. Staff all friendly enough and ordering through the Greene King app works well and service prompt.

Could do with a major refurb, but it's a cheap and cheerful place to grab a quick bite and drink. Friendly with a massive outdoor area out the back.

Very popular- very keenly priced. Have been a few times and have always been surprised at price of the beer. Last time I popped in I was with my son for a pre- Christmas swift one ! He did have some cheesy chips - but I dont think that qualifies us to comment on the dining here. They were prepared very quickly ! The staff are great and the service is good. The one downside I would comment on is the volume of the background music - it's almost disco loud! But I will be going back.

We often eat at the welby, today Christmas Day was great, 3 course Christmas lunch. Food delicious the staff as always happy, polite and efficient. Well done to you all for an excellent day xxx

.The Welby Pub offers a pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff, but the limited real ale selection left me disappointed. On a brighter note, the excellent food served here is a definite highlight. Overall, it's a mixed experience with room for improvement in the beverage choices.

Very disappointing range of ales. Choice of one weak one. Food was good, decent portions. Main meal plates were not cleared away, even when deserts arrived. Kid friendly and plenty of parking.

Not a nice Christmas atmosphere

Wouldn’t come again, starter was very small my partner was disgusted how much it cost for what you got, then his steak was full of gristle And couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife he didn’t even have any of it, and when we showed her she agreed it was, when he went to pay her wasn’t offered any discount of the price.

I visited a few days ago and the experience has stuck with me. The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Big thanks to Isaac and josh for their hospitality and help

Carpark has plenty of parking no child spaces but has blue badge holder spaces available, there is an outside play area for children as well as outside tables, when arrives we hadn't booked a table and all tables had reserved signed allocated to them so we had to ask a table was available as time of reservation was an hour and half away always best to ask, take clean with menus available plenty of variety of food, placing orders is at the bar or through the Greene king app. Food arrived at the same time no waiting, although the children's meal burger the bun was over done and quite hard, called a member of staff over who promptly apologize and Wendy to the kitchen door a replacement bun. Over all though apart from that little miss hap the food was too a good standard and hot . Toilets were clean although no sink or urinal child size there is a disabled toilet also available

My husband and I like eating at Hungry Horse pubs, we can always rely on good food and service. This particular pub was pretty good. The big drawback was the handicapped parking. Good spacious spaces placed on a slope...not easy to navigate when you get out of your vehicle on uneven ground. Then there were 5hree steps into the building. If there was a disabled entrance it wasn't clearly marked. We managed, but shouldn't have to. Otherwise, everything was great.

I was staying in the area on a course and used the pub / restaurant for two weeks. The food was a good, honest pub grub, which was always quick to come out. The staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble, the reason for 4 stars one member of staff was terrible

It's exactly what it says on the tin! It's cheap and cheerful but genuinely have never had a bad meal here! Staff are great and I highly recommend the gammon.

Six of us went for a meal last Saturday evening. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was really good overall, however the chicken sizzler portion size is very small for one of the more expensive dishes, so was a little disappointed with that. The pub is in need of a refurbishment. Lots of chairs are very worn out and ripped and the place could definitely do with redecorating. But overall the food and the staff made it worth visiting.

Just had our meal here. The mains were as usual. Good value. The desserts this time was a bit of a disaster. We ordered the dessert and then had to wait over 30mins for them to arrive.. while we were waiting a waiter came over to us and said he needed the table for the next booking. We told him we had ordered dessert 20 mins ago and were still waiting. He then stormed off in a huff. We then waited another 10 mins for our desserts. We then offered if we had a refund on our desserts we'd leave so they could have the table. Again a not happy waiter stormed off into the kitchens. A few minutes later our desserts arrived. The horseshoe donut dessert didn't have any of the strawberries in it. The candy mania was missing the candy element. Basically only had 2 twixs in it. And the apple and berry crumble was about 3 mouth fulls in size. While we're still eating our desserts a waitress then came over and said she needed our table. We tried to explain what had happened and she walked off. Not a great visit today to be honest!

Great place which we visit most weekends and also with our friends but I must say it feels very unclean lately and the outdoor seating is looking and feeling a bit tatty! Inside is no better which is a shame because service is generally good but sorry guys you need to up the cleanliness before i start becoming a regular again :(

Ordered a tandoori sizzler (one of the big plate specials) it was anything but a big plate. £12 and the portion size was awful. Didn’t come with the salad it described just a little lettuce and hardly any chicken.

Typical English pub, open late so one could get dinner if the hotel’s kitchen was closed. The food is okay and the staffs are nice.

Saturday 22 July. Met friends for lunch. We have been to the Welby many times when visiting Melton Mowbray. No booking but lady found us a table for four, which she cleared and wiped over. However, the table was tacky, on the floor under the table there was food and a fork. The seats were worn and tatty. At the bar we ordered cokacola, only large glasses on offer but the lady did show us a smaller glass and explained even though it was smaller it would be the same price as the larger ones. So the Hungry Horse are quids in on that one! Food... compared to previous visits all I can ask is 'What happened?' English Breakfast - it looked sorrowful on the plate, THE sausage was overcooked, the toast was hard and crispy with hardly any butter provided. I think you must have counted the baked beans as there was barely a desert spoonful. Where was the tomatoes? The crowning glory was the small 'rubber' like button mushrooms! Chicken Curry - that looked even worse. The sauce was runny, small portion compared to previous visits and actually had to ask for the poppadoms. Lasagna - Burnt! Tasted burnt too. It went back to the kitchen. The new dish of Lasagna was only slightly better. The pasta was overcooked to the point of the dish looking and tasting like mince & mash potatoes. Never seen chunky cut cucumber and tomato before. Child's Meal - Chicken nuggets, Chips & Peas. Looked ok although the nuggets appeared dry. The desert... Spoonful of tinned fruit topped with two fresh strawberries. Strawberries were fine but she didn't like the tinned fruit. All in all a very disappointing visit and an experience we won't be repeating. NOTE: had to leave one Star to leave this review when actually you aren't even worth a star! The staff front of house and the bar were doing their best but are being let down by the 'chef' and management. They and the customers deserve better.

Was not expecting much it was just convenient that it was a place and near where we were at the time but wow the food was amazing and not even too expensive so definitely would visit again the place was quiet and didn't seem like it had much staff due to this but can't fault the food 10/10 absolutely gorgeous food and dessert! I woul recommend the mix starter platter it was a lovely selection of everything and really nice.

Not been here for ages, but my vegan breakfast was great. Coffee was good too.

Decent pub but it looks tired. The service is friendly but order at the bar - great if you like that kind of thing. Food is acceptable and to be expected from a value pub chain. There isn’t a lot of healthy options, and loads of calorie laden meals. Good value for a family though.
