Apurba in Melton

Cold and tasteless, rice was cold, chicken had a very strange taste to it. Waste of money

So glad we stumbled across this restaurant ! Went as a family of six and all got different dishes and all of us really enjoyed our meals ! Staff were friendly and accommodating to us all even my youngest son who is a very picky eater ! Will definitely come back !

Food delivered on time. Popadoms were stale. Food cold. Tasteless and bland. Onion bhajis were horrendous. Tasted like they’d been made weeks ago. Absolutely disgusting all round. Not worth a penny paid which was over £40!!!! Will not be going to New Apurba again

All seemed okay (although the man behind the desk was a bit abrupt when I asked about the menu) Poppadoms came out, I had a hair stuck to mine and it looked dirty as if cooked in old oil? I said nothing.. starters came out and there was a large thick black hair right in the middle of my chicken tikka 🤢 2 courses 2 hairs was enough for me so we sent the food back and left.. definitely won’t be returning!

We've only ever had takeaway for the Apurba and the food is superb. I've lived all over the country and had curries everywhere, and this is as good as any and better than the majority. The taste, look, and quality is superb overall. However, in my opinion, the Onion Bhajis are ok but not the best I've had. Everything else we've eaten has been delicious. Great timings for ordering and collecting, really friendly staff, excellent takeaway all round. I gave marked atmosphere as a three as I cannot judge that in fairness.

Yesterday night, we came across this restaurant and ordered a meal and a beer. The food was fine; we loved the curries. However, the staff who attended to us were extremely disrespectful. As this was our first time trying this restaurant, we were looking for something special. Unfortunately, I felt very disappointed, and my friend even considered leaving immediately. We waited 10-15 minutes for the food, and it was pleasant. Later, when we requested a napkin or a tissue, the staff told us to take it ourselves from another table. I have never encountered such poor manners in a restaurant. To top it off, at the end, they were speaking and making fun of us in their own language. It felt very bad and disrespectful. This experience occurred yesterday (27/05/2024).Also there was no proper bill given to me. i would like to get my proper bill and the explanation regarding this! Can not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values respect! It was not a reservation on the 1st place. And i am sure of it. They told me in the end that they are from banlgadesh

Lovely food, friendly staff and very clean.

Went here for the first time on a Friday night. A few people in but got a table no problem. Friendly and prompt service. Chicken Madras and Achari lamb were both excellent. My only criticism would be the very bright cold lighting which robs the place of a bit of atmosphere, but would definitely visit again.

They try and call a 14.95 5 course but poppadoms and pickle tray is not a course as comes free in all restaurants then the service terrible thought we was drunk and tried to over charge when questioned said ifbyou want to take your left over food away uou jave to pay £1.50 per tin foil container A absolute joke so if having takeaway you have to add extra for takeaway unless you bring your own plate also have under age waiting staff serving alcohol Will avoid in futures

Had a delivery last week, small portion and missing my sheek kebab but as I order here very often, I messaged them which they said they would sort me out in my next order, today I placed an order, I was missing my extra dips I ordered and they have tried to fob me off with couple thin onion bhajis to compensate for missing kebabs, absolute joke, naan bread was cold and stale

Thoroughly enjoyable, great service and superb food. Baz went out of his way to ensure we went away satisfied and I can honestly say we were. The offer for £14.95 for 5 courses is on Monday and Thursday and great value

Had a lovely lamb curry with rice and as usual the food and service was excellent. I was very impressed with our waiter bazz, despite the restaurant being very busy he managed to keep everything running smoothly. If i could give 6 stars i would.

Chicken not cooked.... I ordered shashlik chicken, halfway through eating because I thought it tasted weird, I inspected the chicken closely and noticed it was under cooked! Partner ordered buttery chicken he had no issues, you can see the comparison between both chicken dishes, ones cooked and ones undercooked. Never ordering from here again!

What a pleasant surprise. We dined on a Monday evening and took advantage of their offer of 5 courses for £14.95. We eat regularly at The Red Rose in Syston where they have a similar offer. The New Apurba is equal to The Red Rose. The food was hot, tasty and authentic. This place is an undiscovered gem.

Really enjoy the food here but on multiple occasions, keep rejecting my orders online, quite often late but within the order times, not helpful for those who work late and want food

We were visiting Melton Mowbray so decided to eat here. There were lots of different meals as well as the usual dishes and the staff were very helpful in making recommendations as we were torn between dishes. The portion sizes were good and the food was full of flavour, they even offered us a doggy bag as we couldn't eat it all. When we are next in Melton Mowbray we will certainly eat here again.

I visit this restaurant fairly regularly with 2 different groups of friends. 1 group go on their banquet nights & are very happy with the staff & meal which comes from a surprisingly large choice considering the reduced price. The 2nd group usually go on a Friday which is not a banquet night. All the food I & my friends have is lovely & plentiful & although sometimes we have to wait a while if it’s busy the service is great.

Went there super early on Monday night , staff welcoming and happy to help with menu choices. The menu has lots of dishes you don't normally see at a standard Indian and we all decided to go go a little off the beaten track and boy were we pleased! Quality food, you could taste the freshness of the veg and good portions. Clean and reasonable, around £50 for 3 of us. Recommended

Had a table booked at 7.30pm. Starters took about 45 minutes to arrive and mains didn't arrive until 9.35pm. Reasonable prices. Food ok.

I am so annoyed. I placed an order on-line in plenty of time knowing that the restaurant had a 70 minute delivery time and made a payment by credit card. It never occurred to me to check my emails but when I looked 45 minutes after placing the order I saw that Apurba had sent me an email saying "We are very busy at the moment and we are forced to cancel your order. Please feel free to try again a bit late. If the order was paid, we will refund your order amount within 3-5 working days. Thank you." Not only did they cancel my order but are hanging on to my money for 3-5 days. Aaargh!

Had really tasty meal and given we were with two older relatives we all felt they took the Covid risk very seriously. Would absolutely go again as food was delicious.

Food was very late and arrived stone cold. I love Indian food but this was bland and tasteless. Bhajis were dry, unauthentic, bland lumps, I've had far better supermarket bhajis. First time ordering and will never return.

Very disappointed with the changes of menu and general level of service from Abdul and his team. I know Indian cuisine is very much a matter of taste and some clearly like the offerings here. For me and my partner the recent experience was of relatively tasteless, bland food and, upon commenting to the manager, we were met with complete apathy. The previous team operate out of the Purple Garlic, also in Melton Mowbray. Our experience there has been consistent and good. But again, I accept all is a matter of individual taste. We are very unlikely to venture back to the Apurba as Melton is blessed with a number of excellent restaurants which offer more enjoyable fayre and certainly a better attitude to customer care.

Been in the old apurba so thought we'd try and give the new one a go ,the food was very nice as was the nan and rice ,the service was good and they was all polite and attentive ,but it was a saturday and priority was or seem to be given to take away orders , the starters came out in good time but we seem to wait ages for the main course to arrive but it was worth the wait cos the food was excellent ,whether they can improve on this im not sure but we'll return again due to the fact the food was very nice indeed and end of the day thats what we went in there for

We ate here with friends on a Monday. What an excellent deal for the banquet meal on Mondays. Five courses for £10.95. Great fresh starters and curries, which we all really enjoyed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very happy to come back to Apurba again

We hadn't been to Apurba for a few years as there were much better curry houses in Melton. However, we thought we would give the new Apurba a try. The service is great, with welcoming and friendly staff. The food is now up there with the best in Melton. You can see and taste the difference between the dishes which are beautifully spiced and have their own unique flavour. We will definitely go again.

Banquet for 10.95 is an amazing Bargain for a curry house. The food was excellent and great hospitality. Very accommodating.

We went to a banquet evening which is held on Monday nights and costs £10.95. This is a 5 course meal and the food is served well and on time. The place is clean, staff are very polite.The normal menus are good value as well.I would recommend Apurba to anyone visiting the area.

my family went to apurba last night and had a great meal. the staff were friendly and the menu was varied. we all had starters and lovelly main meals and the lamb fell apart. the manager was attentive and the prices were reasonable, my father in law said it was the best indian meal he had tasted.

Monday night banquet offer for £10.95 is amazing value and delicious food. The staff were fantastic and made our evening so enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Apurba is under new management & 6 of us tried their Monday night offer of 5 courses for £10-95. The courses were, poppadoms, a choice of starters, a choice of mains (not the full menu for starters or mains but extensive enough), rice or naan &coffee; or ice cream. The place was packed which is highly unusual for a Monday but we could see why, the staff were friendly & approachable & the food was delicious, all in all very good value & a good night was had by all

The food standard here is amazing, the spices and flavours are the best around by a mile! The half tandoori chicken is the best I've ever had. Cannot recommend The New Apurba enough absolutely fantastic!

Excellent meal on Monday nights.

We meet friends in this restaurant for an annual catch up. Disappointing evening. Poppadoms were a little tired then the starters were cold as was an accompanying vegetable dish. My main course was muddled and I got the vegetarian alternative by accident but to their credit they didn’t charge for it although I found it full of onion and potatoes and couldn’t eat much of it. Although there was a brisk takeaway market there were only 12 covers in the restaurant so there should be no excuse for cold dishes. It seemed that they focused more on takeaways than the customers eating in house. We won’t rush back.

I arrived on a Saturday evening without a reservation and the staff went out of their way to accommodate me. Warm welcoming and above all attentive staff. The quality of the food is outstanding with a huge selection on offer. All reasonably priced. As the restaurant filled up it took on a lively atmosphere of happy diners. I have dined at most local restaurants and I can say that this is the best. Service was great and the food was just incredible, also the new menu has got some fantastic new dishes I've not seen anywhere, Well done all at Apurba for an enjoyable dining experience.

Didn't realise this restaurant was under new management, wow what a difference. I have used this restaurant many times before and it has always been great, but it is fantastic now. The food was amazing, new decor is lovely and the staff are friendly, attentive and certainly enjoy a good giggle ! Thanks MJ and staff, we'll be back.

Without doubt the very best Indian restaurant in town. Consistently great service, cuisine (which I accept is down to personal taste) & value for money. Others have come (& gone) but the Apurba continues to deliver the best, day in, day out. Long may they prosper. Recommended without hesitation.

I have eaten here a few times and would recommend trying it, unfortunately it isn't one of my favourites though but each to their own. The food, service and drinks are all great and reasonably priced and it's location is good too but I prefer other restaurants of this type.

Went with work colleagues on recommendation was absolutely outstanding meal the food was excellent very good service cant fault it will go there again.

We went here because we couldn’t get into our local Indian restaurant . We were eating popperdoms when starters came nothing to write home about then the main meal arrived both mine and my husbands were cold so they took them back and heated it up in the microwave we didn’t eat it so the waiter took off a round of drinks off our bill . 3am in the morning my husband was violently sick will not be returning we will stick to the one we are use to .

Food is very good so is the service we go every month so they are used to us now. Very helpful staff great variety on the menu, downstairs is spotless but upstairs in dire need of paint and new carpet

I last reviewed the Apurba Indian restaurant 6 years ago. How time flies! I am VERY pleased to confirm that this remains the place to eat in Melton Mowbray for Eastern cuisine. Over the intervening years, through regular visits, we have never been disappointed with the friendly service, excellent food and value for money. You will, I am sure, not be disappointed either. Thoroughly recommended.

If you want a curry this is a great place to go for one. It is your classic curry house and one of the better ones. Stuck in a certain time era the place has its charm. Service can be a bit too rapid and doesn’t always come with a smile. You have to try and slow the process down if your out trying to make an evening of it, otherwise you find yourself with the bill and on the door step all too soon. The menu is standard and the set meal does prove good value for the amount of food you get. Not fine dinning, but great for curry and a few beers!

We went for a spur of the moment meal here with friends, having not been for a couple of years.
