WOW, JUST WOW! I kid you not, this was the best curry and service I've had in many a year, absolutely delicious food, incredible! I'll definitely be back. Thank you so much!

We've been several times, and it always gives great food and service.

Er how can I sum up this place. Let’s start with the positives food was great very tasty and really enjoyed however the service was the total opposite it was dreadful. We waited well over an hour for mains and I asked what cider they had I was offered Kingfisher. (Didn’t know they had gone into the Cider market) Then I asked again and another waiter snatched the pad out of the person hands who was serving us and basically told him to go away. Not very good in front of customers. I think the main issue is the amount of takeaways they were doing it meant the restaurant was falling behind… wouldn’t be in a rush to go back…

The food was the only redeeming quality of this place. Unfortunately, we didn’t get food until 10PM, it took an hour and a half and we were turned away when we arrived and told to come back in half an hour even though we’d booked. We could tell staff forgot about us as our food came straight out once we asked where it was and it was much colder than normal and people around us started to get their food when they’d arrived 40 minutes after us. No reduction in price or even an apology. Such a shame as food was good, one of the rare times that we haven’t tipped.

It’s OK. The whole dining experience was OK….. I have eaten in lots of Indian restaurants in my time, all over the world and have to say the food was very bland but well salted. We had a variety of dishes on the table but they were all pretty much the same heat and not that different in taste. That said the amount of salt in each dish was huge and as such became the dominant taste regardless of the dish we ordered. The staff were very good with us and although I waited 10 minuted after the rest of the table had their mains, they were very accommodating and apologetic. I wouldn’t rush back but that’s my choice…. There seems to be a lot of people who enjoyed their meals so perhaps we just hit it on a bad night ?

This is the second time I’ve been to the Purple Garlic & everything was just as good as the first time. Menu has a varied choice. Food is excellent & good value for money. Staff friendly, helpful & considerate. I can definitely recommend the Purple Garlic Karahi.

Had to place my order several times and when we came to pay they had charged us an explicable extra £20. When queried they apologised as though they had not done it deliberately. Disgraceful, they've lost a family of regular customers.

Can’t fault the food which was great, rich and spicy and decent sized portions. Unfortunately, having booked a table when we turned up they had no record but did get us a table after 25 minutes and provided a couple of drinks on the house. Unfortunately service at the table, whilst prompt was a bit rushed resulting in a bowl of rice being spilt on me by the waiter. Also, probably due to it being a Saturday night the place was very noisy with some obvious party crowds in. No fault of the restaurant obviously but would probably suggest visiting on a quieter day if you want a more relaxed experience.

Family of 4 adults, first time visit to Purple Garlic. We all enjoyed the food well prepared/presented and very good with excellent /friendly and professional service. We look forward to having dinner here again as we are a huge fan and enjoy the various curry dishes.

Absolutely amazing food, i think I had two of the best dishes I have tried. Honey chilli paneer and chicken tikka curry. The main I wanted something different so the staff recommended me this and it did not disappoint. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very funny, food amazing and the price not bad considering the quality of the food. Looking forward to going back there.

We had our first takeaway from Purple Garlic yesterday and it was delicious. Staff were friendly upon collection and our food was fresh and hot when we returned home to eat it. We will definitely return to Purple Garlic again.

We have been a regular user of this restaurant, we will not be using it anymore, we had a table booked tonight, we arrived on time, the place was mobbed, no chance of getting our table, we order drinks twice whilst we waited, none came, no apologies for their mistake,we left, not impressed

Just had our first takeaway from the Purple Garlic. Great food and good sized portions. A good curry should have lots of complex layers of taste, and as a guy who's eaten a lot of Indian food in his days, I can say that this restaurant does things correctly. If you are in the area, well worth a visit.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Just bought a takeaway and chicken was pink inside tried another piece and still really pink, not cooked. Phoned them up and asked if they could deliver another (giving them a chance) but all they offered was a complimentary one next time! No thank you purple garlic you’re a disgrace

Best curry this year. Not from Melton going to a gig at the Noel's Arms. Amazing Chilli Honey Paneer followed by a Chicken Naga, Rice and Peshwari Naan. Superb meal followed by a great gig by Gun Money at the very good live music pub the Noel's Arms. What a great night!

Visited the Purple Garlic for the first time Sunday night and found the customer service and the quality of the food excellent in fact I would say it was one of the nicest curries I have eaten for a very long time and I would strongly recommend a visit

First time dining here, decor was smart, front of house were all very polite, and up for a good joke. Food did not take long to come out and our whole night ran very smoothly and efficiently. Reasonably priced as well. Thank you Purple Garlic.

As the title says, this is definitely the best Indian food I’ve tasted this year.The service at times was a little slow, but that’s to be expected when they’re busy and food is cooked fresh to order.Friendly staff, attentive and willing to make our stay the best it possibly could be.Food was delicious, drink selection was excellent, will definitely return whenever in the area!Thanks again

I've just ordered from here for the first time and I must say it's one of the best Indian takeaways I've had, the depth of flavour is incredible, the portion sizes are great and I'll definitely be back! Would highly recommend this place to anyone, it's delicious.

New Year’s Eve I ordered in plenty of time for a seven thirty collection .... on arriving at the appropriate time I was told the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half as they had not even started to cook it .... by the number of people inside and outside my guess would be that they just take orders and worry about the logistics afterwards .......... but it was NYE so I expected a wait of about 10 minutes but their attitude was awful ...... I walked out and went home empty handed !!! so being a glutton for punishment, and as my family love the food there, I thought I’d give them another chance tonight .... so booked for a seven pm collection and guess what same situation ... waited 45 minutes this time ...... trying to support local businesses in these trying Covid times but it’s not as if they are doing anything to help themselves or consumers.... despite the good food I will not be bitten a third time !!

Ordered a takeaway and arrived at the correct time to collect. Waited a further 20 minutes for the order to be ready! The food was lovely but was marred by the wait. As I walked in a customer who was leaving said I would have a long wait - they were not wrong

Ordered a take away which consisted of a Lamb Madras with Keema rice, jhinga Jalfrezi, a chicken Biryani, poppadum’s, a cheese and chilli naan and a plain naan.I turned up at allotted time and paid, then proceeded to wait another 15 mins for them to "finalize" my order? Shop was not busy 1 customer before me and 1 after.When the food was unpacked it was of average quality, and some had to be reheated.The chicken (Biryani) was dry and half was left over as inedible.The Madras was uninspiring and the meat average qualityThe Jalfrezi was average, lacking any original spice and tasting more of “off the shelf” curry powder, the prawns had been cut down and were of average quality.On a plus note, the poppadum’s were ok.As a family we really enjoy our curries and recognize a good dish when its presented....this was way down the scale from good. It’s a shame, as many reviews seem to praise the establishment highly….maybe it’s a lockdown thing.

Had chicken mayo in Peterborough and too full for Chicken Korma tonight, So, had Onion Bhaji, Mint Sauce and salad! Very nice and looking forward to full meal next time!

Awful, some people recommend this place to us for a takeaway. Never again we only tried this one because our favourite place was closed this evening. (We usually travel 15mins from just outside Melton to get our Indian. Starting with poppadoms and dips, watered down mango chutney no chunks of mango, onion in tomato sauce. Main meals too much food colouring no flavour, very salty. All dishes were so greasy. Rice was all clumped together. Naan bread had been reheated and was like rubber and no flavour. Will not be revisiting, all Melton Indians seem to be the same. We will keep travelling out of Melton for our takeaway

Went here as part of the eat out to help out scheme, food was absolutely delicious, restaurant was very busy but couldn’t fault the staff! I have an intolerance to milk and I said this to the manager and he knew exactly what I could and couldn’t eat, most places have to speak to the chef but he knew everything! Will definitely be going back!

Booked table for 7.15 got there early and only one table already in, was shown to a table right in the middle of the restaurant that was that small two plates would have filled it, we asked if we could sit somewhere else and abruptly told no. We went to the Simla good decision. We won’t be back to the awful garlic

Placed and order at 6.45 PM paid and was told to come back in 30 mins. I cam back in 40 mins expecting to just pick up and go. But instead I was kept waiting an extra 50 mins yeqh that's right I walked out with my food after I had to complain about the wait and my daughter is now asleep and not impressed at all. Will not be recommending due to service.

We called at the purple garlic for our evening meal, it was busy for a Wednesday but staff found us a table. Food was really nice plus excellent service, worth a visit.

We had an excellent meal here for my colleagues 50th, food was hot and served in a timely fashion. Quality was excellent. I particularly liked the the green chilli sauce with the poppadoms. Be warned that the curries are towards the hotter end of the scale, which was good for us

Ordered to collect and I arrived on time, restaurant was very quiet. When we unpacked the food every single component was cold and needed microwaving. Don't appreciate spending £30 on cold food.Bhajis and naan tasted good, everything else was alright, except poppadoms which tasted odd.It was a birthday treat for my partner so we're really disappointed. They also didn't deduct 20% for takeout collection which I didn't realise until I got home. Will stick with SOI next time. Sad as Purple Garlic always looked so inviting.

Food was ok. It was very noisy so difficult to have a conversation. Not knowing how much rice would be provided, or how big the naan bread is (do I order 1 per 2 people or 1 each) I asked and was told "normal size". Right, thanks. That helps. So not the best customer service. I don't think we will be there going there again.

Disappointing as we had to wait just over an hour and a half between courses and when it came it could only be described as barely warm! We had to flag down multiple waiters to order anything. No customer service whatsoever! We wont be going back in a hurry 👎

I visited with a mate on a Thursday night and the restaurant was really busy.The food we had was good. I had Chicken Madras and sag bhaji both were nice and tasty and the Chicken was just 'so tender', some of the best I've had.My friend had a prawn dish which came with rice and that was also really good. Both of us had the Roti bread which was great - nice and dry - not covered in oil. We had poppadoms to start with and the coriander dish in the pickle tray was an absolute 'wow'. I jokingly asked one of their guys if they sold it in jars, if they did I'd have some. When he bought the bill he also bought a tub of the coriander pickle for me! So because of the good experience and the fact they do Cobra 'on draft' we will definitely visit again.

Don’t book for New Year’s Eve, absolute shambles. The restaurant was more interested in dealing with the ‘Takeaway Orders’ therefore leaving those pre-booked tables unattended. Waited 2 hours for our starters. Luke warm main course which they did reheat on request. We were with lovely company, only good part of the evening.

We went Sunday night it was very busy.. the menu looked ok.good variety . The food when it came was ok. I’ve had better I’ve had worse. The bill wasn’t that bad and we left happy. We would return but wouldn’t say it was the greatest ..

My wife and I were told about Purple Garlic as good place to eat and decided to give it a go and feel a little let down. The madras and rice was average in terms of taste and texture but the naan bread was outstanding. The restaurant is obviously popluar, but for a couples night I personally found it noisy and tables too close, as any privacy is lost because of it. Service was again average. It is unlikely that we will go back for a long time.

We went early on a Thursday night and the place was empty. We ordered and were served quickly. The food was excellent, we had the thali, vegetable masala, naan, onion bhajis and a few other bits. Everything was excellent, would definitely recommend

Never thought Purple Garlic would get a poor rating but tonight they were clearly under pressure, I guess not enough staff. After half an hour we asked for our order to be taken and another half an hour later the food came. It’s the first time I’ve sat on the bar side and it felt like being in a cafe. The tables are so close together I was drawn in to listening to the conversation on the next table all the time, there doesn’t seem enough room for the waiters to service the tables properly and when the diner on the next table got up to squeeze between the tables he was uncomfortably close. My curry was okay.

Wow. The best Indian i've ever had. Really nice interior and great staff. Plenty of options available and the specials sounded amazing. I recommend the duck masala! What's great about this place is that it does take away too. Everything is good value for money. Highly recommended eating here if you live in Melton Mowbray, definitely the restaurant there.

Visited with friends meal and service was o.k. but they had run out of Cobra lager on tap,so had warm kingfisher instead Ordered food and drinks which came very quickly,not very busy when we visited.

On arrival we saw an empty table near an enclosed wall water feature brilliant, we asked to be seated but was told it wasn't possible as we was a group of 4 and the table was for5 . OK so we sat elsewhere . but in two minutes time we was seated at that table . the service was very good and the food excellent we had a great meal at purple garlic thankyou , my only issue was as soon as the bill was paid they was clattering around our table clearing up like a whirling dervish . not good as we had only just finished dining and paid . great restaurant great food just needs owners presence .

I have visited Purple Garlic around 10 times usually ordering their Madras curry. The Madras is wonderfully spicey and flavoursome, often I have found even though advertised as a spicey dish, many places dont deliver on this, not the case at Purple Garlic! Hand down the best madras curry I have tried.

Been here a few times and always found it good. Tonight went as a party of 5 adults and 4 children, and ended up waiting over an hour and a half. When raised told smaller tables and take-away orders take priority as 'that's how we do it'. Message: if you go as a larger party you'll go to the back: would have been helpful to know. Having queried the delay we were then ignored. There's apparently no manager to speak to and the kitchen was fully staffed. A pity really as it spoilt the visit.

The food was cold, slow to be served, not fresh and there was a large price of egg shell in the curry, will not be going again.

Very good food, but they put us on a nice quiet table, then a group of 20 blokes turned up and we couldn't even hear each other, why didn't they put us further away as they knew the group was coming. Disappointing
