Stopped off whilst travelling up the M5. We rang ahead to book but although fairly busy there were lots of available tables. Had the veggie roast which was pretty good. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Met up with family members as we live in Exeter. We all had a carvery. Parsnips were solid burnt, potatoes anemic and the Yorkshire’s burnt and very greasy. The chef made us feel awkward as just glared at us putting food into our plates, very awkward silence. Very bland carvery. We all chose a desert at £6. I ordered apple pie and custard. It was smaller than a child’s portion and burnt and dry, I returned mine. Others ordered fudge cake which was so dry they struggled to swallow it. Many used plates and empty glasses on tables. The whole feel of the place felt grubby. We came here in April and was very happy with our carvery. Unfortunately this time around we won’t be returning.

We stopped here on our way back from Cornwall, and sat in the beer garden as the sun was shining. We had a drink and food. The lad who served us was lovely, friendly and chatty. However, over all the pub felt really grubby, old and dated, the beer garden felt and looked unkempt. The food was just ok, it wasn't great quality and we left most of it. Its a shame, we have been here a few times, but we will not return, due to the place going down hill and not being maintained.

What has happened at the Weary Traveller? This was our 4th visit and it is most likely the last! We visited the WT for a carvery, me, my husband and his brother, when we arrived we went to the bar to order drinks and pay for our meal. I asked for a Smirnoff Ice or VK equivalent, I was told by the barmaid that they no longer sold them as they are not as popular as they were, I settled for a vodka and bitter lemon. My husband and brother-in-law wanted a. Pint of Doombar "sorry, we don't have Doombar at the moment but we do have Otter" "Okay 2 pints of Otter please" The barman then called across "sorry, no Otter either but we do have IPA" Bearing in mind, this is the day of the final of the European cup! Hubby and brother-in-law reckon they are holding it back ready for the evening event. "Okay, fine, two IPA" Food and drinks paid for, we were given our tokens for the carvery. After finding our table and depositing drinks, we made our way to the counter and duly handed over our tokens. There was roast pork, beef, gammon and I think turkey... that's usually the other choice...and you could see straight away they were all way overdone. I asked for beef and pork. The server couldn't cut a slice because it crumbled as soon as he tried, it was more like pulled pork and beef, Yeuk! I hate meat like that! The Yorkshire puddings had seen better days, really brown, flat and rubbery. Had to search through a load of mush to find a roast potatoe. Cauliflower and broccoli in cheese sauce...the veg had been threatened with boiling water...the cheese sauce was very, very runny with a nasty, almost a blue cheese taste...okay if you like blue cheese I suppose! I bypassed the cabbage and swede as they looked most unappetising. The carrots were okay, peas okay...ish. Stuffing balls, tightly compacted and anaemic, parsnips burnt on the outside but crunchy in the middle and the gravy...what can I say, never seen gravy like it and never want to again...and it tasted awful. Should take instructions from Toby for gravy...yum! Dessert...hubby nothing, brother-in-law, millionaires cheesecake and me ice cream. Brother-in-laws came out on a large plate, tiny wedge of dark brown, rapidly melting substance in the middle of said plate...looked more like chocolate fudge cake...in fact I asked the waiter if a mistake had been made "nope, millionaires cheesecake, well that's what it says on the box anyway" Does everything come out of a packet/box these days! I ordered ice-cream...instead of the promised 3 scoops I received 3 curls and a couple of cylindrical biscuits..,you might have made a scoopful out of the 3...if you were lucky! This is not the cheapest carvery we have visited but on our last three visits the food had been superb so well worth the money. The other thing to note was, the last three visits, we have had a job to find a parking space and the restaurant had been "heaving." Not a problem this time though car park almost empty and very few diners!

We booked this place for a family meetup. Lunch time on a Tuesday. Pub was empty which was good. We needed wheelchair access so they gave us a table close to the door with good access. Kids ordered coke - they were flat and sickly sweet. I had water which was vile. As a group we ordered a variety of food. I ordered a shared platter for me and my daughter. It cost £16. What a joke. We got a handful of chips, 2 small garlic bread, 3 wings( in a shared platter for 2), 3 burnt onion rings and a small bowl of crisps. Utterly disgusting. Hardly any food and what we got was burnt. Tried some of the margarita pizza, it was vile. Cheap nasty cheese. No where near as good as Weatherspoons margarita pizza. Tried some of the burger. The bun was stale and the burger had a weird tinge to it. I never knew a burger could taste so bad. Just remind you all this food came at a premium price. I cannot stress highly enough how much you should avoid this place. Overpriced, nasty horrible food.

Having visited this pub 18 months ago this was a more disappointing experience. The front entrance was tired, dirty and cluttered. The interior of the pub needs a lick of paint and a good clean. There was a flower vase in the ladies loo with murky water in it and no flowers. The blonde landlady or manager was lovely, friendly and helpful. However the place was deserted on a Friday afternoon. Our ploughman’s and steak baguette were tasty. This place needs some urgent TLC.

Ours was a late booking on Saturday evening, four adults for a 1200 carvery the following day. Unexpectedly on arrival our numbers had increased to 9😬 ie 2 children, 7 adults 3 of which were vegetarian😬 Not a problem …despite being busy, 2 tables joined...

A family meal was spoilt by the shocking attitude of the so called manager. No care given, avoid if you want to be treated with respect. On the plus side the food was good.

Was well pleased to find this yet another dog friendly pub, which I love. We ended up there two day on the trot and even got to spend some time with Poppy :) Staff I will say were friendly and helpful, we first had food...

M5 J28 stop off. After trying the publicised boat and anchor which was closed and looking mighty tired, drove a couple of stops down and went to the Weary Traveller just off J28. Enjoyable food and drink in nice surroundings. Noted away for next M5 journey

Just had a lovely family meal here. A lovely lady with short dark hair was so lovely and accommodating. We were starving and couldn't find anywhere open to eat (everywhere said due to staff shortage, everywhere we went we were told the kitchens were closed). This place stayed open and gave us service with a smile. Highly recommend 👌 Burger and chips were to die for!

A very friendly and thoughtful landlady was our first positive experience. The pub is very pleasant with outside space and a beer garden. We had a lovely lunch. My Stilton Ploughman’s was delicious and a generous portion. My husband enjoyed his steak and onion baguette with fries and coleslaw. Dessert was the New York cheesecake, also scrumptious with a choice of cream or ice cream etc. There is a large car park and the pub is sited just off the M5. It is certainly worth a visit.

Nos metimos en esta tienda de la granja mientras estábamos cerca. Tiene una preciosa selección de quesos. El staff es muy amigable. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita.

Telephoned to book and said that we may be bringing a dog. We were told that dogs were not allowed in the dining room which was fair enough, however we could eat in the bar. As there were 5 of us we decided not to take the dog and I rang and told them so and asked to book the dining area. When we arrived I went to the dining area to be greeted by a rather large dog, (which turned out to be the owners,) which was slobbering everywhere as it walked around the room. I then found out that we had been put in the bar. We then had to walk through the dining room to where the food was being served and then back into the bar which was becoming busy. We were sat around a table in the middle of the bar with people constantly back and forth. It was a nightmare. Needless to say we won’t be returning

Enjoyed a delicious meal at Penquen Fish Bar! The cod was enormous and perfectly cooked—so fresh and tasty. The chips were equally great, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Overall, a fantastic takeaway experience. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving quality fish and chips!"

Went here for a family meal. Six of the eight dishes arrived cold (hot plates, cold food). When we sent them back, they arrived at different times, and some were still not well cooked. One of our party ended up not eating at all. The chef was not at all interested in our experience. What was supposed to be a family celebration turned into an upsetting experience. We’ll never be back, and do not recommend.
