Arrived before noon for an impromptu lunch not sure if they would be serving food, received a warm welcome and a chap even helped us up to the garden play area with our two large buggies, ordered Jacket Potatoes which were delicious with plenty of filling, salad, and homemade coleslaw. Children's area in the garden was lovely, clean, tidy, with plenty to keep little ones entertained.

We went for the Sunday carvery we thought it was a normal type of carvery where apart from meat you served you but it was not it was a carvery they plate up for you they give you a set portion, not if you want small or large amount. The meat is very poor quality,It is not worth £16, it would be better rather than queuing they come to your table ask what meat and veg you want.;also with pineapple juice it would be good if ask if you would like slice of lemon as due to food allergy I am not allowed it

Upon arrival it was very busy in the bar due to a 60th birthday party and we were given a choice of table to be further away from the noise, which was a very nice gesture. Whilst being seated, I said that I was Coeliac and they were very attentive to my needs, even confirming that they have separate fryers for gluten free food, so as to avoid cross contamination. I had the Gluten free Pork au Poivre and it was absolutely delicious! My husband had the Fish & chips and I honestly felt jealous! The size of the fish! Wow!!! They also serve it gluten free!!! We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Not often I leave a poor review but my word I would not recommend staying here at all. The fire alarm went off FOUR separate occasions in the night. Each time it was considered a “false alarm”. No apology from the manager which is also completely unacceptable. I don’t know how frequent this issue occurs however I will not risk staying there again for it to happen and enjoy 20 minutes sleep in the night!!

We visited today on my husbands birthday with our 9 year old son at lunchtime. I’d heard of this place before as we live only 20 mins away in Exeter but had never got round to going. Today we decided to do a walk along the canal and pop into the pub for lunch. We hadn’t booked but there was a table free for us. For a Tuesday lunchtime post Christmas there were a fair few people in there eating which is always a good sign. The two young guys who served us today were fantastic. Smiley, upbeat, helpful and service on point. They truly are an asset to the pub. The food was incredible and the look and feel of the place was wonderful, it’s a real gem. I eat out regularly with various groups of friends and family and will definitely be back many a time again. Thank you for a fantastic visit.

The glove is the cornerstone of Sampford Peverell, it's a lovely place and the owners always do their very best to make you feel welcome. They also provided a huge amount of supported during the COVID lockdowns, delivering food to the vulnerable and other services. Service is super fast, in most cases you don't even need to visit the bar. Very busy on a Sunday for the carvery so make sure you book in advance, there's lots of parking at the rear which backs onto the canal for amazing walks.

Arrived here for Sunday lunch as part of a party of 50+ on a vintage double decker bus. Had a large room at the back where an additional carvery counter had been set up. Although it was very crowded, and I understand that The Globe served at least another 100 covers besides ours that lunchtime, the staff coped magnificently although under pressure. The food was superb - one of the best carvery meals I've had in ages. Service was well-organised and waiting times were not long, so that were had plenty of time to get back on the bus to Tiverton Parkway for our journey back to London. I have eaten at The Globe before, on my own, and was really looking forward to eating here again. I was not disappointed!

Came for lunch on a Wednesday lunchtime for my mum's birthday. Pub was quiet on arrival (only a couple of tables occupied at 12:30pm). I've lived locally for 40 plus years (Willand) and a lot of friends and family frequent this pub. We've moved away from mid Devon but drove from Chagford to meet my Mum who lives near Wellington. We chose this location as its in the middle and has plenty of parking. I've been here many times but must say our recent visit was a bit lacklustre. I try to be completely honest and not overly critical but the service was slow and underwhelming. Although both girls were very pleasant, there was no enthusiasm - maybe we caught them on an off day? It was not manically busy - so cannot blame it on staff being overwhelmed. The menu is very good and offers good choice - another reason we chose here. We all had main courses and the portions are very decent size. I had the vegan tart - it comes with chips and salad. It was tasty but very dry, this combined with chips - made the overall meal dry. Perhaps add some coleslaw or dip? My mum had the chilli con carne and she also complained it was lacking in sauce and dry (she said it had the appearance and taste it had been microwaved). I'm not a meat eater but it did look dry and there was little substance/sauce on her mince. Our husbands had the burgers/chicken stack and they were both thrilled with their dishes and ate every bit. We waited a good half an hour after main course and nobody came to take our dishes and nobody came to ask if we wanted desert, so we had to go and ask for a desert menu which was eventually brought to us. To sum up - decent portions, cosy pub but on our visit the food was bland and service slow.

Quite hard to rate this tbh. Despite the lowest rating I would stay again. The pub itself is excellent with excellent well kept ale and a nice atmosphere. The accommodation was a little more hit and miss. The room itself was absolutely fine, warm a good size and we were shown how to use the thermostat. Lights were subtle and pleasant though one side light didn't work, but equally it is cheap and affordable. Not enough towels provided, but on request we got more of these. No coffee in the shared kitchen and the WiFi was patchy to say the least. The boiler makes a low humming at night, so if like me these things bother you, worth investing in earplugs, but it didn't bother the rest of the family. However these are all fairly minor details and not something which bothers me overly with cheaper accommodation like this. The main issue was being locked out of the rooms on the evening of Christmas day alongside the other residents staying at the same time. That was pretty poor, but we did get it rectified fairly quickly; within about 45 minutes, it did help having local connections here as the other residents had been waiting an additional 30 minutes at least and had no such luck. Tbh makes an amusing story at least.
