We spent only one night here on our England/Cornwall round trip, so in terms of food I can only rate the breakfast. That was indeed very good, freshly cooked English breakfast plus a choice of marmelade, toast, cereals and also fresh sliced fruits (different kinds of melons, grapes, madarines, ...). Very friendly staff and good location close to the motorway. We would choose it again.

The staff were so welcoming, thoughtful and accommodating. Such a friendly and comfortable stay while we were in Devon for a family wedding a few miles away. The staff were aware that my wife had just been made a ‘Queens Nurse’ and on returning to our room late evening there was a bottle on ice with glasses and a very thoughtful written card of congratulations, a real surprise!! ‘Billy’ the family dog brightened our mornings while we had the freshly cooked lovely full English breakfast!! We would definitely recommend this location for a stop over, the location is just off the M5 yet you wouldn’t know, Dee, Aaron and all the staff were always there if you needed anything. We will be going there again next time in Devon. Thank you for our stay!!

Came for lunch on a Wednesday lunchtime for my mum's birthday. Pub was quiet on arrival (only a couple of tables occupied at 12:30pm). I've lived locally for 40 plus years (Willand) and a lot of friends and family frequent this pub. We've moved away from mid Devon but drove from Chagford to meet my Mum who lives near Wellington. We chose this location as its in the middle and has plenty of parking. I've been here many times but must say our recent visit was a bit lacklustre. I try to be completely honest and not overly critical but the service was slow and underwhelming. Although both girls were very pleasant, there was no enthusiasm - maybe we caught them on an off day? It was not manically busy - so cannot blame it on staff being overwhelmed. The menu is very good and offers good choice - another reason we chose here. We all had main courses and the portions are very decent size. I had the vegan tart - it comes with chips and salad. It was tasty but very dry, this combined with chips - made the overall meal dry. Perhaps add some coleslaw or dip? My mum had the chilli con carne and she also complained it was lacking in sauce and dry (she said it had the appearance and taste it had been microwaved). I'm not a meat eater but it did look dry and there was little substance/sauce on her mince. Our husbands had the burgers/chicken stack and they were both thrilled with their dishes and ate every bit. We waited a good half an hour after main course and nobody came to take our dishes and nobody came to ask if we wanted desert, so we had to go and ask for a desert menu which was eventually brought to us. To sum up - decent portions, cosy pub but on our visit the food was bland and service slow.

We were traveling to Devon and wanted a pub close to the M5 as an alternative place to stop for dinner than the usual services. The Globe Inn was perfect. UPDATED - We indeed visited again and had an amazing stay. The team are second to none in terms of friendliness, creating special moments and generally being awesome. When they found out it was our son's birthday at breakfast he got a card and cake - brilliant thoughtfulness! We'll be back.

Had a delicious carvery here last Sunday with friends. The landlord & his staff staff were all very friendly and helpful. Service was quick. The beef was cooked to perfection, roasties lovely and crispy, good selection of veg and a giant Yorkshire pudd. My only gripe is it's piled onto a tiny plate. The gravy drips off the edge of the plate, and there's no room to spread your food to cut it up without mixing it all together. We treated ourselves to dessert, and they were delicious, I had a meringue with chocolate and a caramel sauce. We will be back.

Our first time at the Lamb for a while, and sadly it didn't live up to expectations. The pub had long been known for great locally produced food, great beer with a warm and lively atmosphere. We visited mid-week and found the experience to be rather underwhelming. The menu has some wonderful dishes on it, alongside some pub classics - not exciting, but a solid menu. We ordered a variety of starters and mains. The waitress returned to our table to deliver our food and told us there had been a mistake in the kitchen and that the mains were being prepared to come out with or before the starters. It seems to us that the chef wanted to go home promptly, as the kitchen closed at 8pm and this was as around 1945. My wife had the cod tacos and they were brilliant - tasty, well presented and truly creative. My children had the kids beef burgers and I had a chicken burger. The burgers weren't great. The children's burger was just a plain burger in a bap, (no option for cheese etc). They both complained the burger was dry. My chicken burger was tasty, but the chicken was overcooked and therefore quite tough on the edges. The chips were fantastic! Dessert was good. We were informed the kitchen had no cream and that meant a couple of the dishes were off/needing to be adapted. Three tasty puddings (ice creams and the sundae) arrived and were enjoyed by all. Overall it fell below expectations. Perhaps our expectations were too high, but it isn't a shadow of what it once was. I hope our visit was not typical. The Lamb holds a special place in my heart and it is painful to write a review that isn't gushing with admiration. But sadly it was the worst meal we had out this week. Another local pub the following night showed us just what was missing. A plea to the Lamb team - rather than defending criticism and feedback (which your reviews are full of), embrace it and improve. It's an amazing spot but it isn't hitting the mark at present. It can be so much more than it is today.

Telephoned to book and said that we may be bringing a dog. We were told that dogs were not allowed in the dining room which was fair enough, however we could eat in the bar. As there were 5 of us we decided not to take the dog and I rang and told them so and asked to book the dining area. When we arrived I went to the dining area to be greeted by a rather large dog, (which turned out to be the owners,) which was slobbering everywhere as it walked around the room. I then found out that we had been put in the bar. We then had to walk through the dining room to where the food was being served and then back into the bar which was becoming busy. We were sat around a table in the middle of the bar with people constantly back and forth. It was a nightmare. Needless to say we won’t be returning
