We had two great family meals here while staying in Flushing. Fab location - ask for a booth and you really feel like you are on a river boat! Really friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and a good selection on the menu including daily specials. We can highly recommend the steak main course and the daily special fish fillet - both excellent. It was a pleasant surprise to find such good food within walking distance - we will be back next year!

This is the best "the Quay" has been in many many years, a real return to form. The fish is always the main to go for and on this occasion it was a perfectly cooked hake fillet.

We didn't think this looked too promising when we first drove up but further investigation proved us wrong. We sat at a table outside and enjoyed a drink while watching the ferry going backwards and forwards The menu at the Waterside has many tempting offerrings with an emphasis on fish. The host was very welcoming and helpful and although we were not able to stay for dinner that day its on our BIG "to do" list when we are in Cornwall later in the year. The breakfast menu looks fantastic.

Today our party of nine enjoyed lunch at The Waterside Resturant in Flushing. Everything was perfect made more so by the attention of waitress Annie and the company of Paul, the owner. Paul has revived the fortunes of this place and through his efforts he deserves to succeed. It's well worth a visit.

Good food, friendly and efficient service. I went there for lunch with a large group. We were welcomed and promptly made comfortable. I had a fish stew, which was excellent. Others were very pleased with their assorted fish dishes. Deserts and local cheeses also highly recommended. Wonderful waterside views in both directions.

This charming and original restaurant is particularly strong on local and fresh fish. The menu changes each day according to the catch. We had scallops in their shells with dashes of sausage and salad and delicious home cooked fish cakes followed by hake with spinach and a lovely paella (hardly any rice and mainly fish). Lemon posset followed as did a tray of yummy local cheeses. John is a friendly manager who manages to make you feel at home and makes helpful suggestions on the ever evolving wine list.

Visited Cornwall to see friends and came to the Waterside around this time last year and had a wonderful meal - the food was really delicious and the choice amazing! So I came back again with some friends and I have to say I was really disappointed. The menu was a lot more limited and there wasn't anything that special so went for fish and chips in the end. The meal was nice but nothing amazing. Not sure what has happened since I last came but a bit of a shame as the location is fabulous. Will come again next time I'm in Cornwall but more for a quick lunchtime bite than for a meal in the evenings I think. Sorry Waterside!

It's an unexpected find, occupying a prominant location on Flushing quayside. I have visited twice, and it's an ideal place to relax, take in the views, and enjoy good food.We had scallops with hogs pudding, followed by Szechuan Crab, which was one of the daily specials; a whole cooked crab served with a Chinese inspired jus, a side of green salad and fries. The service was friendly; emerging from the kitchen, the waiter warned us that our crabs "look like real beasts" and reassured us that they were open till 11pm if we needed extra time to finish them off! They were big, and had a lovely fresh sea-salt aroma. We made quite a mess cracking open the claws and picking out the meat, and it was very enjoyable. There is a good choice from the boards, and the drinks were reasonably priced, but we were too full-up to try a desert. Maybe next time.

Just came back from a week in Flushing and after eating our meal at the Waterside on the first evening enjoyed it so much we came back twice more before the end of the week. The people are nice, we liked the fact the menu changed each time - we had a great meal every time. The scallops were fab as was the crab crostini and we thought the prices were reasonable. The views from our table were lovely, we thought we were on a boat at times. Plus they are dog friendly and you can eat inside with your pet - bonus!

On a recent trip to Cornwall, staying in Flushing, we decided to try out the Waterside Restaurant, which is on the Quay side and were extremely impressed. The atmosphere was great, service second to none, and the food excellent with a wide choice of Starters and Mains - not sure about Deserts as we were too full to attempt them. We went on three visits during our stay, and without a doubt, it was the best restaurant we had visited in the area, and had tried quite a number!A truly, reasonably priced Restaurant, well worth a visit - we will certainly go back.

The menu was limited but with excellent choices, mainly fish, but we were not hurried in our choices. The food was freshly cooked and tasted very good. Everything was reasonably priced from the food to the wine and the port with our cheeses. The service was attentive yet respectful of needing space to decide. We were made very welcome from the moment we initially inquired for a booking. On arrival we were shown to our table with a lovely view of the village (attached). I'd noticed a cask of local beer and ordered a pint. Although unfortunately the cask was empty, the moment was well handled with good humour. Food was fresh and very well prepared. I recommend the scallops served on hogs pudding, a local variation on the black pudding, but more peppery with sausage meat. Both main course fish dishes were also first class. I'd recommend booking and one final comment - dogs are also welcome if accompanied by well trained adults

This was a very good place for an impromptu lunch. The staff were very helpful although the service was rather slow but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter on this occasion. The menu is very varied and food is fresh. We had very good scallops as a starter and a main in monkfish and scallop kebabs. The crab sald was a disappointing little pile of crab meat in a dressing. The views are very pretty.

My husband and I and our two children had lunch here and were disappointed with the food and attitude of the chef/owner. The moules marienere were just mussels in cream without any garlic or seasoning and after eating just two I sent them back to the kitchen. I was not offered a replacement dish and the chef did not think to come out and discuss with me why I was dissatisfied with the retrured dish. However, my husband did note that several of the kitchen staff had time to peer through the galley style window to see who had returned the dish. When the bill arrived I was shocked to see that the starter I had returned for being sub standard had been included. When I raised this with the waiter I was told I still had to pay for it. Obviously short term gain/profit of £6.50 was worth losing future business over. For the duration of our holiday we ate at the Royal Standard where the surf and truf was £5 cheaper and of much better quality. The Royal Standard staff have a great attitude to customer service that leaves the Waterside wanting.

We arrived on the Saturday to mixed weather. Having previously visited Flushing we knew this long stone hut, that isn't much to look at from the outside, is a gem and a great place to eat in with wonderful views of the river from both sides, that's if the fishing boat doesn't come in!We booked a table that night for Sunday lunch time and as we know from last year it can get rather busy. If the ferry isn't working it is only around 10 minutes drive around to Falmouth. The food was served prompt and well presented with good sized portions. My crab claws starter was a little too cold for my liking, I would have preferred them to have been cooked fresh rather than obviously been re cooked and then taken direct from the fridge. Our three main courses were good and very filling so no room for a pudding sadly.

Visited with my husband on our first night of a week in fabulous Flushing. We'd had a quayside coffee earlier in the day, sat out in the sunshine taking in the stunning view towards Falmouth. We'd found the staff (owner?) very helpful and friendly so decided to eat there that evening.Raised booths inside give excellent views over the water to Falmouth and to Flushing. Decor is a little country-kitchen for our tastes but pleasant enough. For starter I had garlic prawns - I'd expected fewer larger ones, but they weren't bad. My husband had mackerel pate which he says was tasty but not outstanding.I had fish chowder which was quite tasty, average really, but my husband's fish (hake) n chips he said were excellent and definitely recommended.Dog owners will like this place - canine friends welcome inside and out.

It was a dreary, drizzly lunchtime when we found this delightful eatery on the quay. The person who took our orders was a little reserved but pleasant and left it to Drummer, a very waggy black Labrador to welcome and charm the diners. I had scallops with hog pudding, which is a local pale spicy sausage, which was lovely and both complimented each other well. This was followed with a duo of halibut and plaice with samphire on green beans and new potatoes. Absolutely brilliant! Well cooked, a nice portion of both fish and very tasty. My wife had monkfish and scallop kebab with cassoulet and rice. Again, well prepared and the two fish presented in a more unusual way. I was not able to have my first choice of sweet but the sweet board was quite different from the usual lunchtime fair usually experienced. To comment on the ambience is unfair as it was lunchtime and very wet ouside and this is a quieter part of the Falmouth area. But it is, after all, all about the food and this was excellently prepared food from boats tied up to the quay outside. Thanks for brightening our day Waterside!

Small but utterley superb fish restaurant, located right on the waters edge where fish is still unloaded so basically much of what they cook goes from boat to kitchen in seconds. Don't be put off by the outside as although a beautiful location the building itself is lettle more than a shed but oh what delights await you. If you don't like fish don't bother as the only concession is 1 veggie choice and a surf and turf - otherwise it is fish all the way and soooooooo wonderfully cooked and presented. Went with a party of 4. 2 had surf and turf and 2 had lemon sole. A bottle of wine, an orange juice, a coke and a glass of beer, 3 had sweets which they tell me were superb, total bill £110.00. 5 stars all round for food, service, ambience and location. There is limited parking on the quay but if you are staying in Falmouth so much more fun to get the ferry across or call up the water taxi service.Dogs Welcome

I would just like to say this is my second time to the waterside, i love the sea views you are right on the harbour any closer and you would be in the sea.. the service is friendly and attentive we even got the pleaseure of meeting the chef, the sea food we had came off of the boat that was sitting outside of the restaurant (you cannot get fresher than that!) my wife is not a big sea food fan but was well fed with some of the non-sea food options. My advice, try the chefs own Houmous and make sure you leave enough room for The home made dessert! A welcome re-opening of a restaurant at this location. Food good, and a reasonable menu rotation, with fresh/local fish (and other produce) well represented. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who seem to care about what they are doing. From time to time proper beer. When the weather is right, the outside seating is a great boon. I'm a bit uncertain about the dog issue, but if you want your dog to join you in the restaurant, it must be a plus. A tie up with the Flushing Ferry would be a plus, but it closes down far too early in the evening to provide convenient transport. At least there is the water taxi.

This is the first visit since the closure of the old, excellent, "Sticky Prawn" at the same location. The reception was outstanding......lots of enthusiasm, warmth and excellent service. We were delighted to be able to take our dog who is an integral member of our family and was also given a warm welcome. The six of us tried a variety of dishes. For starters, there was a big demand for the fish cakes, which were universally given a thumbs up. My wife and I shared the shell-on shrimp which while excellent, were simply too small......our guess was they were 16/20s instead of a more appropriate 8/10's, which made them almost impossible to peel. For mains, we all chose the available fish....lemon sole, plaice and halibut. All were excellent and perfectly cooked. But oh, the veg had much to be desired. Strange, undercooked potatoes that appeard to have been boiled and then quickly pan fried (?). A small bowl of mixed veg did little to inspire. As fish lovers, we shall certainly return but hope that the quality of the accompaniments improves greatly. We shall certainly try some of the advertised "standards" such as the onion soup and mussels. There is no question that the idea is right with the core menu based around fresh catches, and the excellent service certainly is a welcome plus.

The breakfast I had here was by far the worst I’ve had in Falmouth. Cheap white bread for toast, sausages that were tough from being kept hot for too long, tired fried potatoes and the skin left on the hogs pudding, all heaped onto the plate. My family all had different meals and equally enjoyed their food. We live in London and eat out often. This was by far the best meal we've had in years.
