"Pie of the day" Turkey, Ham and Wild Mushrooms, with an open top. Sounded delicious. When it arrived it consisted of cubes of Turkey, like a stew, with two triangular pastry things placed on top. Removing the Pastry things revealed the meat. However, could I find any Ham or Mushrooms. Clearly not. So was this a Pie ? My wife told me to send it back but that would mean waiting even longer for replacement. We had after all waited long enough as it was as they were very busy. When paying the bill, in full, I said the food was alright but mentioned the lack of ingredients. Apparently the contents of the "Pie" are cooked in one big pot and spooned onto the plate. Surely the Chef at the Pass checks what is sent to the customer !! Anyway, this was NOT a pie !!

As usual the staff were very attentive and helpful, coffees were very good. We decided to have a light lunch, the Prawns in Rosemary sauce were very good. However the chicken burger was a disappointment, the chicken burger was a cheap supermarket produced item and was very small sitting in a bun.

I came here with my mum for breakfast. This place wasn’t busy few people sat outside. We sat inside overlooking the water.. we ordered our food, when ordering drinks I requested an extra pot of hot water to go with our tea. On arrival of drinks this didn’t come. So I asked again for a pot of hot water so we had a warm drink to go with our food. The waitress brought me the smallest jug of hot water! Our food came and I’d finished mine before my mum’s they came and took my plate away while my mum was still eating, not acceptable it’s very rude. And then they came and took my cup away while my mum still had tea. We were away on holiday and always visit the Waterside, unsure if under new management? The service was unpleasant and I won’t be visiting again. I couldn’t wait to leave. There’s so many lovely places to visit while in Norfolk in the surrounding area’s.

Lovely lunch. Although outdoor seating looked appealing, it was a bit fresh so we opted to eat inside - comfortable seating and dog friendly too. The other positive is that it offered separate gluten free menu which is a bonus as my husband is coeliac. Food was delicious and well presented. All staff were welcoming and friendly.

Called on our way from Suffolk to Norfolk, had a lovely lunch. We've been here before and had good food, but sometimes you wonder if it will be good again and we were not disappointed today. Fish Finger sandwiches - what a hit! Really nicely made, and very tasty. Took 2 cheese scones for 'laters' and enjoyed them with a cup of tea late afternoon.

Young staff charming, older supervisor rude! Vegan order of soup came with buttered sliced bread. Questened the bread and was abruptly told we should have asked for vegan. We had asked, it was marked vegan on the menu. Plain bread given, but it soured the lunch to have been told off and also - come on! - sliced bread pre buttered? The menu mention granary roll.... Such a shame, this restaurant used to be better than this.

This is a beautifully located café with a view over the lake which is part of the Norfolk Broads. Our full English breakfasts were very good as was the coffe. Service was prompt and chatty and the sunny weather made sitting on the deck very pleasant. This was a surprise find and needs to be widely supported. They also have whole cakes, and we each had a slice of the variety they had on offer. They do lunches too. Highly recommended.

Said 5-10 minutes… everyone else were half way through their meals so I said not to bother. They offered to cook something else but with a very restrictive diet for medical reasons I had chosen the only item I could eat. I listened to fellow diners. Some really happy others not. Lasagne that was reheated to rubber. Quiche Lorraine that had no meat only leek.

We had some tea and cakes after our boat trip. The ladies here are friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of freshly baked cakes, one being gluten free. I thought just over £11 for a pot of tea for 2 and 2 large slices of cake was very reasonable. We returned a few days later for a late lunch and sat outside. We had the fish and chips, with mine being a gluten free option. Both were crispy and delicious, the chips were great. I was recommended the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Lovely little café in a fab setting, lovely cake and the staff are pleasant BUT as a local I have been here many times and the food they used to serve was locally sourced and there was a good selection, now the menu is very limited to a few different sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones or cake. The bread definitely wasn't local despite it being a well filled generous sandwich. I feel like this change is such a waste of a wonderful facility and they appear to lose business with the limited menu (a few people turned up and left) especially as they could still be a tea room yet offer simple snacks like local bread, salads, jacket potato, panini, toasties whilst leaving the more substantial menu to The Boat House. There are some wonderful local food producers I hope this isn't a permanent change for The Waterside.

We used to go to the Waterside regularly for coffee and snacks but something has gone seriously wrong there and I can only agree with other recent reports. I know that they are struggling to find a chef following covid lockdowns but does that really excuse the poor quality cakes and sandwiches, let alone lack of ability to provide even bacon rolls etc? Very sad to see this in a place we've always enjoyed going to and which, being in such a superb location, should be booming.

Fantastic building on a prime, waterside spot. Great car park, children's play area, tidy gardens + dogs welcome. So far so good. Sadly very limited menu of sandwiches, quiche and a couple of pasties/sausage rolls. We ordered quite a range and found they were all low quality, standard catering supply items, as were the cakes that followed. Portions also very mean. All problems aside, if you are going to open there really is no excuse for this - at this price point these sort of things should be home made. Please also train some of your staff to be good hosts - one server was laughably brusque to the point of rudeness.

Three of us went to Waterside for afternoon tea. When we sat down outside we were brought three tea cups, two of which were dirty. When new cups and tea were brought out, I poured my tea and something green came out with it! It was taken away and my third cup was fine, but I can't say I enjoyed the tea!We were served a two tier tray of sandwiches and cakes, plus a plate of three scones with jam and cream. The sandwiches were small and there weren't very many for three. There were both vegetarian and meat sandwiches touching. The cakes - small chocolate eclairs, one with no cream, two half-filled with cream, stodgy fruit cake, a strange cream and sponge thing with odd syrup on the top, and three tiny macarons - appeared to be ready made rather than freshly baked and were of poor quality. It was a real shame it was so poor - the view from outside is so lovely! The cost was £13pp which seems very steep for such low quality fare. I really hope this improves as it's such a good location, but we won't be returning any time soon.

We stopped here for lunch after seeing it in passing and thinking it looked inviting. The setting is very pleasant next to the water, and the cafe appeared nicely maintained. The outside seating area with views over the broad was particularly appealing. Staff were friendly and helpful, however, I was surprised that whilst sitting down at around 1pm, we were asked “Are you here for lunch?” Followed by “There’s no hot food - just cold sandwiches”. This seemed unusual, so I’m not sure if it was due to staff shortages or other issue, or, their usual menu… Either way, no reason was given. The selection of sandwiches was far from extensive and whilst they were pleasant, I didn’t feel that the quality justified the price. The coffee was nice and general environment was pleasant, particularly on a sunny day. We were disappointed, but I do think that some small changes could make this place great.

We used to love visiting The Waterside as a family. Lovely food normally and beautiful scenery of sitting outside. Unfortunately, the food was a real let down. We had already been informed it was just filled rolls on offer (very surprised why this would be the case even if there is no cook surely someone could make some nice baguettes or paninis) and cakes however, the rolls were just dry flowery baps, the tuna option had run out so two of us had to have a filling we really didn’t want. We waited ages for anyone to clear our plates afterwards and had to send my daughter to ask for cake options. The lunch was supposed to be a treat from me to my family and yet it was just very disappointing and very expensive for what we had been served. I really hope things are turned around to how they used to be as this was once a number 1 location for us.

After coming home so upset yesterday I had to voice my anger at how we were treated yesterday at Waterside. I phoned on the 14th October spoke to a nice lady and booked a table for 2 people by the window, explained it was a treat for my friends birthday. She said no problem look forward to seeing you tomorrow. On arrival (15th Oct) we were met by a very grumpy short lady with black hair who said ‘ no tables by window when it’s a busy lunchtime, when I explained I had booked she took no notice. She then said have you scanned, I had no idea what she was talking about, she just pointed to a board and said use COVID NHS app which luckily I did have in my phone. She then got really irritated when I explained I wasn’t sure how to do it and she had to show me. By the time we sat down the whole experience was ruined and we decided to leave. I understand times are challenging but there is no need to be so rude and just because we were only 2 people I still booked a table by the window so why should we be moved, we are still paying customers. My friend and I and our group use Waterside a lot and have never been treated like that before. So sad that one person lets it down like that, the other staff were very friendly. Elaine

We didn't plan to visit, but popped in while in the area. Best fish and chips I've had in years. Obviously fresh fish and made to order. Also huge pot of tea. Staff friendly. It's the little things done well that give it 5 stars.

While out and about during a few days in Norfolk, we came across the Waterside by accident. What a great find! The food was lovely, the staff excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot eat onion, so I asked if the sandwich could be minus the onion, no problem but what was was great was the salad garnish was also without onion. So many places will serve the dish minus onion but then salad garnish with onion goes o tnhe plate regardless. My only disappointment was I was too full to appreciate the lovely cakes!

We live the Waterside at Rollesby. Good food, great location and friendly service! We’ve made it a regular spot of ours and always enjoy our time there. Great choice on the menu and easy parking too. Recommended!

The location is beautiful but we were desperately disappointed with our afternoon tea.The brochure looked lovely as was the discussion on the phone and we were looking forward to this birthday celebration. However, the fillings in tbe sandwiches were ordinary no salmon here! The bread was cheap and poor. The scones were small and burnt and the portions of jam, cream etc were meagre. The cakes were dry and uninspiring.Considering the cost we were very very disappointed.

Not much more to say really. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, they kept the place beautifully clean, served the food really quickly and made our afternoon tea altogether lovely. Thank you so much. I watched you work extremely hard to satisfy all the customers. The restaurant is a credit to you

Found this place driving back from Winterton-on-Sea. The chocolate cake can definitely be recommended and the staff, who were working incredibly hard in the heat, were attentive and couldn’t be more helpful. Tables were cleaned before we sat down, our order taken within minutes and tea and cake served soon after. A really lovely venue made special by the great staff. Thank.

Living in Ormesby I have visited Waterside on many occasions. Whilst some staff are very pleasant, others leave a lot to be desired. I arrived with 2 friends at 1.30 for lunch and selected an inside table. The restaurant was very busy and they appeared short staffed with only 2 ladies on the floor serving customers that we saw. The lady that took our order rushed through everything and clearly had no time for any pleasantries. When we asked for sugar for our drinks we felt we’d asked for the world. Our food arrived and we were asked if we wanted anything else. My friend asked for vinegar and the waitress was off before we could add and some mayonnaise. Not exactly great customer service! I must add at this point that the food was excellent and a good size. We had to ask for our table to be cleared so we could have coffee and at the time most other customers had finished and left so they were not overly busy. It’s not the first time I’ve found the staff here to be short of pleasantries(and believe me I’m not a difficult customer). After yesterday’s experience I shall not return again. That’s a local you’ve lost and I will not recommend you either.

Was booked out when we called, but they have lots of tables outside available for walkin'sWasps were a pain as could see a nest in the boathouse next door, but they are doing all they can with these little pests.Partner had the best gluten free fish and chips she has had (they said pretty much everything on their menu could be made gluten free, which was refreshing), and my scampi was good. Chips were fantastic, large and crispy.Service and COVID measures were first class, and they seemed very well drilled.Lovely view of the lake too and the sailing boats.

Visited with our grandchildren. Full when we arrived so we were shown outside. Unfortunately we were plagued by wasps which upset our grandchildren. By then a table inside became available and the staff quickly cleaned and reset it for us. The food was ok although a fruit scone was more like a rock cake, but actually very enjoyable despite that.We were impressed at the contact and safety measures taken, and when it was time to pay were surprised that 50% was taken off the bill without any mention of it being made. We had forgotten about the offer and had not given it a thought. All in all a pleasant experience

Really nice breakfast here today, great service and felt very covid secure. Very good value with the Eat out to Help out. Had hoped to sit and look at the water as per the pictures but just got some very tall reeds which is a bit of a shame. Was nice to sit out in a natural setting nonetheless. Staff were brilliant.

We loved our lunch here! Everything was very fresh and homemade. Chips were chunky and crispy and delicious. Ploughman’s platter was very good (I asked for an extra pot of prawns as I really fancied some). Others had the ribs (lovely and moist), scampi (good), and bacon and Brie baguette (also good). Portions were generous and prices reasonable. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. Lovely decking area with outside tables overlooking the broad. Definitely hope to come back.

Visited after a morning on a boat on the broads and had a lovely meal. Despite being busy and dealing with the dreaded Covid changes, the service was friendly and speedy and the food was really good quality. Our two older kids (3 and 6) shared an adult burger and they were completely quiet for 10 minutes so that’s praise indeed. Shame the kids park isn’t open (another Covid victim) but was really enjoyable lunch. We will definitely return.

We often stop here for a coffee and snack and it's always good with very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Beautiful setting beside the broad and we always sit outside if weather permits.

This was our first time here and it was really impressive. The setting is lovely with a view of the broad. Most impressive was the staff's attentive service. They really took good care of us. The food was very well cooked and big portions. All the Covid precautions were thorough and very reassuring. We'll definitely be back!

Fantastic afternoon tea for 2. A selecton of very fresh crustless sandwiches, fresh fruit tarts, carrot cake, fruit cake, lovely chocolate eclairs, fruit scones, jam and clotted cream, all decorated with fresh strawberries with a lovely cup of tea or coffee if you prefer. This was amazing and with the help out to eat out it was under £14 for the 2 of use, Well worth full price will definitely be going back when we are in the area

Bit of a last minute decision, but fancied a Sunday roast and the PotP usually delivers. As hoped for it was excellent. Almost too good as I had no room left for the apple pie and custard ☹️, maybe next time.
