The Waterside in Warrington

On booking.com, the hotel said “breakfast included” but were told it was an error and got no compensation and instead just got very moody staff.

Rooms are dated and the Bathroom is falling apart. Warm watertap is not fixed and rotates 360., dangerous. It seems nothing is done to revamp the Bathroom and room, lampshade full of holes. Would not recommend staying here, not worth the price they charge and claiming three star. The real problem after reading other reviews that they don't are things seriously and try to fix these problems.

There for 2 nights. The room was never serviced had to get tea/coffee etc from reception.

Stayed in room 3 and found... The bed was brilliant - slept amazingly ✅ room quite nice but no plugs by bed a slight inconvenience but nothing bad... The bathroom ❌ really did let this place down... - Hairs in drain and plastic wedged in that I couldn't pull out - the plug and chain where snapped and It took a spoon a hairclip and 20 mins to get it out after a bath. - Bath enamel was chipped and cracked badly - towel rail with a 3 year out of date pat test - mold on tiles -carpet join to room lifted and possibly a nasty thing to catch your foot on. The bathroom NEEDS a upgrade and really let's this otherwise lovely hotel down. Staff where brill and the food and pub nextdoor was brilliant too so it's such a shame. 🙁

Food is nice, service is often slower than if like. Place is nice and clean. Staff friendly.

This hotel used to be a premier Inn about 4 or 5 years ago. I had a room on the second floor and it has had no work done on it since. Very tired and dirty rooms, although the restaurant was great and the breakfast was fantastic. I wouldn't stay here again.

We arrived upon our check-in time, 2PM after a 3 hour road trip, we couldn't wait to get settled. Check-in was smooth, we received the key at the desk and showed ourselves to our room. Unfortunately, the room wasn't what we expected upon seeing the Bar & Grill next door, also Greene King. The mattress on the king-sized bed had no spring and didn't give underneath your weight and there ware hairs in the bedding. In the en-suite there was mold on the silicone surrounding the bath, smashed tiles that were hanging off of the wall and could easily cause harm, hairs stuck to the walls and a rotten wooden bath panel. The door hinges are beyond rusted. The heating element had to have been older than me and didn't work, so the room was freezing cold, it didn't help that the window was wide open when we arrived, in the rain no less. The vanity chair was stained and the light on the headboard had no cap to keep the lightbulb secure. When I contacted Greene King I was offered a complimentary stay and breakfast at the very same establishment. I requested to speak with the main office and am still waiting on a reply. Our stay was a gift and we are sorely disappointed, as is the family member who purchased said gift.

A nice little place to stay, great location while visiting family and venturing further afield. The rooms were clean and tidy, just a little bit outdated. The bathroom was tired and could definitely do with a revamp. All in all, a nice clean place to spend a few nights. You can tell its an older building as the locks on the doors were accessible via an actual key! No problem though! Tv, tea and coffee facilities in the room and we were able to ask in reception for extra milks, and teabags. They were given by a friendly member of staff. We didn't have breakfast, I think you had to go across the road to the pub to have it. Good parking spaces for cars. We would stay again if we were visiting family in the area. Nothing to dislike really as we had no issues while staying, just an older building which could do work a makeover. The outside looks warm and inviting

Rooms and hotel could do with a refurb. Service and breakfast were good. Location is brilliant. Overall quality of the rooms is letting the hotel down.

Very much on the budget end of 3 stars. Furnishings in the room were stained and the bath / shower had similar. Comfy bed and friendly staff were the high points.

Parts of the hotel are tatty and could do with an update . Staff are friendly and welcoming

Rooms need updated desperately! Staff are very accommodating, although I had to wait almost 15min to check in. Pub next door serves good quality food including breakfast. I may not be stopping here again based on the quality of the rooms. Best of luck who are reading this review and looking to stop here.

A 1 night stay was ok. Wouldn't want to stay longer. Bathroom full of mould around bath, taps hard to turn on and off. Toilet leaked at the rear.

I ordered the rump steak fondue, I was very disappointed as I feel I was robbed. I was expecting a fondue set, yet I received 3 sauces in little bowls. The sauces was actually nice, but my steak was over cooked. I ordered medium rare and received done/well.I also ordered the spiralised salad, yet not one piece of salad was sprial, this really confused me why call it that???I was overall disappointed with my meal, I would definitely not order this again.

Good varied menu, decent price. Food was presented nice, and quality of food was lovely. Nice surrounding and comfy chairs. Friendly staff. Nice little touch getting popcorn with drinks. Good Childrens menu. Overall delicious meal. Would return.

Went for lunch with the family party of six.. Made reservation on line in the morning for a 12:30 sitting without any problem considering it was a Sunday.. Very popular place but not overcrowded like some places where tables are on top of each other. Good variety of food, well presented, plentiful and of good standard. Will certainly go back.

Fabulous staff and service! Food was delicious and a lovely surprise to find our table decorated when we arrived. We even received a bottle of prosecco to help us celebrate the occasion in style.

Went here for a family birthday service was good ,but the food was not very good ,really over priced and the drinks to ,was quite disappointed would not go back there again .

This was our first visit to The Waterside since it has been updated. There was plenty of parking available and the restaurant is well situated. The staff are welcoming and friendly, advise was given on the menu and we were really pleased with our choice. The restaurant was clean and appeared to be well organised. It was a busy lunch time on our visit yet our meals came out within an acceptable time, they were and hot and well presented. The food was tasty and good value for money. Our waitress was attentive without being too in your face. All the staff seemed happy and relaxed which reflected on the service provided. We will most certainly be returning soon.

Went yesterday for a quick lunch and had the steak fondue, steak was cooked to perfection! Was really looked after by the manager Danny, we will be returning very soon.

We visited one evening with friends. The evening started well with great service at the bar. Value for money and chapter than many of the pubs. We were greeted and shown to our table by Becky. She was extremely professional and accommodated our wishes. In fact she checked on us all night, checking we were enjoying our meals and seeking our feedback about the new decor and menu (both of which we all thought were great). We all had different meals. I am vegetarian and opted for the Stuffed aubergine, it was delicious, and a welcome change for a fuss pot like me. My partner had the Mixed grill which he devoured, although he was fit to burst afterwards. Our friends had the cod and cheese burger. Their clean plates said it all! All the staff were efficient and warm, but a special mention goes to Becky. She was absolutely outstanding and really should be utilised in training the service industries in customer care! We had a great evening and will return soon. Thank you to all the staff, and in particular Becky for ensuring we had quality all the way!!!

One pub we’ve visited for over the last 5 years, always been welcomed by great staff, and served some lovely fresh & hot food, with our family & friends

The staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing, Nathalie was attentive. Cannot fault this restaurant staff.It will be even better after the refurbishment because it does look tired and in need of some tlc, we were unlucky to visit on the last night before it's closure.

Met up with my friend at her apartment and decided that neither of us had been to waterside for a long time . We had garlic bread for starters and my friend had salmon and I had fish and chips which was on the menu as cod and recommended by the waitress she said yes it's was cod and was lovely white fish in crispy batter when it arrived it was curled up soggy batter and the fish was yellow inside and did not smell fresh either I ended up eating the chips only my friends salmon she said was nice with veg I asked for the dessert menu and told the waitress about the fish she saw it and came back to me and said they would not charge me for that meal had apple crumble and custard which was delish us I am finding more probs with restaurants now serving pollack and not cod will not be returning to waterside again

We attended a wedding here and the day was great ... the staff were lovely and the food for both the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet was great.

I went with my partner. I ordered the pish pie.. it smelt so fishy but i didnt think anything of it.. Few hours later was being sick.. i cought food poisoning..never felt so ill. the veg was under cooks and my garlic bread was burnt.. would not advise 2 eat hear....

Ronnie made my partner and I feel welcome straight away, made conversation and shown an interest in what we had to say! Food was quick to arrive too. Not very often you go out and get brilliant service so thanks to Ronnie and the team at Waterside, warrington.

My daughter arranged a Surprise 60th Birthday Party last Friday for me. It was held in the Marquee attached to the Waterside Inn and was a brilliant venue. The Marquee looked amazing from the tables, chair covers, balloons etc and we had a hot roast carvery, all of which was excellent. There was plenty of room for the 80 plus guests and has a dance floor The waitresses and bar staff worked hard to make sure we were well looked after. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for a special occasion. The staff who helped my daughter to arrange the party were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble, Thank you to my daughter Nicola for an amazing 60th Surprise Party and to the staff at the Waterside who helped to make it so special.

Stayed at the Premier Inn last week and visited a few times. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of options. Love the new Summer Special menu and happy you've brought back Prosecco Friday! We had a great meal every time we came in and there was a fantastic choice of Gins & drinks - food was lovely and Team were brilliant. Looking forward to visiting again.

Came in for a birthday party and booked in for 30 people as we weren't sure how many people were coming exactly. Ended up being about 20 of us. At first the weather was nice so we asked if we could have the outside area, the staff were happy to let us have it there and when it began to rain the staff were happy to let us all come back inside; which we greatly appreciated. There was only one person working on the bar which we thought wasn't really enough as there was quite a long wait for drinks. Later on we went to order food and found that they didn't have enough food to serve us a tray of sandwiches or chips. Didn't even have sandwiches or pizzas for the kids meals; even though they're on the menu. Thought the staff could have put some more preparation in, knowing that there was 20-30 of us coming. Overall a little bit disappointed as we didn't feel like the day was made special enough and the organisation was poor. Would be nice for a quite drink or so but not for anything more. What topped it all of is the fact that a waitress came over at half 6 and said that that we all had to be out in 10 minutes due to another booking having this area at quarter to seven; this once again refers to how bad the organisation is. The staff failed to mention this to us during the booking process as we would have definitely booked somewhere else! Completely ruined our night! Never again

Great location, good food and friendly hard working staff but on 3 occasions now myself and colleagues have left to visit another bar because there's only been one person struggling behind the bar. It's a shame.

Stayed at the nearby Village hotel and walked across for a meal on the 2nd night. Staff were friendly and food was gorgeous. We had 2 courses and both were fantastic. I would recommend the chicken skewers and the double chocolate brownie (the best I've had)Drinks were reasonable too. Would definitely go back.

We visited here around 3pm service was good as there was seven in our party all our meals came out at the same time. Food was hot and tasty.

I often stay at the Waterside premire inn on business and dine in the resturant, I've never had a bad meal or poor service. Every visit has been 5 stars, tasty hot food served by a warm and welcome team, a real credit to the owners.

Started to go back into The waterside after a few years. The staff are friendly and attentive. Food and drinks are good value. Great for a nice chilled out Afternoon.

After not being in the waterside for a number of years my and my girlfriend thought we would give it a try yesterday evening. We were not dissapointed. I had the black pudding starter with a poached egg.. which was superb. And the chicken and chorizo skewer with chips. A lot bigger portion than I was expecting for the price. Couldn't fault any part of it and the staff were excellent from start to finish. Will be returning again and again! Keep up the good work!

Picked off the 2 for £9.99 menu and worth every penny. Nice starter of calamari followed by tasty burgers. Drinks reasonably priced also.

We are staying in the Premier Inn adjacent and walker in to The Waterside this evening at around 6pm. I appreciate we had not booked a table but we were spoken to very abruptly and advised that we could only eat in the bar. We were disappointed but went to the bar. 15 minutes later some friends of ours arrived and were sat straight down - they had not booked. There was 8 of them. Another 15 minutes later more of our friends arrived and whilst they had to wait 10 minutes the waitress advised that she would sort them a table and push 2 together. There was 10 of them. Why were we not given a table? No reason except the waitress was obviously having a bad day and took it out on us. There was only 3 of us.

An excellent 2 hours spent at the Waterside with family. We arrived and got drinks and booked a table for 30 minutes later, we sat outside at the tables enjoying the company with family not seen for over 9 months. When time we entered the building and took our places, menu's then ordered meal's which arrived quickly and was very tasty.Service was great. a most enjoyable time.

Just been for a meal had the steak asked for medium not a drop of blood and very dry. My husband had the mixed grill soggy sweetcorn and salad . Won't be going back.

Good breakfasts, although not always as hot as I'd like.Bar meals and snacks are generally very good, they serve all you'd expect at a pub that is part of a national chain.They get very busy at times and are a little slow clearing away, but overall the pub is good value for money.

Food was amazin there were 19 of us an the service was excellent the manager kept on comin over makin sure every thing was ok well worth a visit x

I recently visited the Waterside on the 9th of June it was just a really lovely pub and even better atmosphere, it made my family and I feel very comfortable. The staff's performance was on point and I couldn't of faulted it, I will most definitely be coming back very shortly. Eaten here a few times over the years and the food is always good, the service is fairly quick despite it always being so busy. Cheap and cheerful, nothing spectacular but always reliable. My only real complaint is that they ruin the chocolate brownie dessert by putting nuts in it!!

I took a delegation of 9 European colleagues here yesterday for lunch. Sent two meals back that contained rotten meat plates not removed) and refused to pay for third. No apology, no offer of replacement, manager is rude. Was genuinely embarrassed that I had taken people from a foreign country here. It is really really bad

Went for lunch today - the chicken and chorizo stew seemed quite appealing only to be served in a bowl that you would normally expect to receive as a starter - totally inadequate as a main course Fed our comments back to waitress but I doubt they end much further up the management chain than that. Very disappointing ☹️

I had the pleasure of booking the upstairs of this restaurant for my mother in laws surprise 70th birthday party & everyone there couldn't have been more helpful. From there being no charge for the room hire, which comfortably held 40 people, to their many buffet options, the whole set up of this party was simple from day one! We didn't need the room until the evening, however they let us in at lunchtime to decorate the space and prepare the surprise. Everyone was lovely and bearing I was trying to organise this from 200 miles away in London, the manager couldn't have been more helpful. Really lovely place, tasty food and exceptional service. Thank you for helping make this such a wonderful evening for my family.

We've been here a few times as we work around the corner. The menu is very impressive, as a vegan I find it very difficult to eat out but to discover they do a vegan dessert was fantastic! We usually go for the fajitas and my only downside would be that the tortillas are so small so not a good fajita-tortilla ratio, tastes amazing though have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is always nice too.The past two times we've been in Courtney has been amazing and is a credit to the team! I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves as she is the reason I would rate 5/5!I'm sure we'll be back again soon!

Went here for dinner food was very nice started fine just let down by the service orders were taken fine starter came out very nice had to go the bar for my own drinks twice as wasn't asked then when the mains came had to go looking for cutlery the waitress was busy talking to her family on the next table then after the main still no service for a desert or a drink or the bill had to go the bar and pay could of just walked out and they wouldn't of noticed.

Menu seemed limited perhaps since it was a holiday. Wings were ok and the fish and chips were average. The brownie with ice cream was very very good. The staff was excellent. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Finished work early. Was particularly ravenous on this occasion.Arrived to see a business lunch in progress, meaning it was quite busy - Good to see.Was greeted by friendly staff. I asked for a table for one and immediately shown a table for me to eat at. Drink ordered and served in less than 5 mins, with menu readily available.Ordered an ultimate all day breakfast (think that's what it's called), which I opted to request more sausage instead of black pudding. Easily done.Arrived promptly. Fresh, tasty and filling.Had staff approach regularly asking if everything's ok.Price wasnt bad at all.

Popped into The Waterside after a meeting with colleagues in Warrington. Nice central location with a very reasonable lunchtime lite-bite menu.Had the fish and chips, and a drink. Staff were very pleasant, food arrived very quickly and was cooked to perfection! Yum!Would definitely return when in the area. Only downside was that the toilets could be cleaner....need a bit of tlc.

It's cheap enough but nothing spectacular! Don't think I would risk a proper meal as the wrap I ordered was cold and came without the tortilla chips stated on the menu. Each round cost different dependant on who served you! Probably should be addressed

looks smart from the outside so sent girlfriend in to check out the menu,( she brought it to the car ). she said it looked just as smart inside, if you can afford a tenner for burger and chips your ok other wise do as we did,,, MCCDONALDS...

We had my in-laws' 50th Wedding Anniversary party at The Waterside. From the moment we made the booking all the way through to paying the bill, the staff went absolutely over and above our expectations. There was simply a feeling of "Can we help in any way." Typically, once a booking is made, the staff treats you like any other customer. But the staff really looked after us. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are planning an event.

Attached to the side of a Premier Inn just outside of Warrington centre, i wasn't expecting much but i needed to eat after a long drive.Staff were really pleasant and showed me to a quiet table. Menu choice is good and the food is well cooked and will presented.I was so happy with my first night, i visited the next two nights too. I felt no need to stay further.Recommended.

Had a meal here with my husband as we were staying in the village hotel oppositeWe really enjoyed the food here and found the price to be excellent value for money £9.99 for 2 courses, either starter and main or main and desert. I can recommend the pepper mushrooms with Stilton and the calamari. The bitter was very nice too.Staff pleasant would definitely come here again if we are in Warrington

Went to surprise birthday party in marquee which you can hire for private parties. The decor was very good with chandeliers and red stove lights about twelve tables with ten people on meant it was packed . Tables are quite large and it made moving around very awkward. The bar was quite small at the back of the marquee and so people used the bar in the main restaurant. The buffet food was early and good hot chips and chicken as well as cold buffet . Plenty of deserts. Good venue for a celebration.

From the word go I welcomed the service was exceptional and the food was also the staff are well presented I was looked after by a lady called Ronnie who was very good....

I was there for 3 breakfast and 3 dinners. All tables are sticky - not very hygienic. Staff was OK and food quality for the price was fine too.

Another great meal at the Waterside. Excellent service. Food was fabulous. All the staff that waited on us were friendly and professional. A big thanks to Becky who was, as always, dazzling!

Exelent value and lovely service. Would recommend to anyone. Kids eat free on breakfast too. It's also all you can eat but full English is cooked to order.

Just been for a Sunday dinner. Food was awful. Been here a few times but won't be going back. Left most of the food, paid the bill and left. Didn't want to order a dessert.

Food here is delicious, had fajitas for main and cookie doe cheesecake for pudding which was gorgeous! I'm a regular at the Wednesday night quiz, it's fun with a nice atmosphere. Decor of the place is very nice too and has efficient, friendly staff.

Stopped for lunch as we were staying at the hotel nearby. Our food was lovely. Service fantastic and my wine chilled to perfection. Would definitely return.

We came in for a meal and we were hosted by Courtney who came off the bar to take us into the restaurant. If this was anywhere else I doubt it would happen!!! she seated us and took our drinks order, went back to the bar made the drinks and brought them over so quickly. We was then served by Jodie who was very polite. We cannot fault the staff as their willingness to help and sort any issues was amazing. It makes a big difference. The quality of food was great and the kids menu is perfect as they wont eat large portioned meals. Also the Luxury Hot chocolate ordered took a whole to come to the table although understanding it was busy, when it did come over it was well presented, looked amazing for the price and I can tell there was effort put into making the drink. Absolutely amazing, will be back for sure!

From the moment we walked in we felt a nice welcoming atmosphere. The staff couldn't of been more friendly and helpful, we were served by Ryan who couldn't do enough for us. All 3 courses of food were piping hot and delicious, something I haven't experienced in a long time. Excellent value for money and will definitely be returning on our next visit.
