The Waterside in Tendring

Classic seaside fish & chips place. Food freshly cooked. Takeaway. Decent range. Minimarket (offie) over the road. Service friendly but rather slow - a result of how busy they were. Lot of people milling around the service counter, in each others way; would advise them to try to organise a better waiting system eg give a number to each order? There are tables inside but seemed hot and noisy.

Tried to call ahead then got met with the owner Gokhan who was very rude shouted and then hung up on me, would never go again didn’t even get to have food due to him hanging up on me while asking a question

Excellent fish and chips from the friendly and helpful staff. Glad to see this wonderful little shop open again. We’ve always had excellent sit in and takeaways from here.

Visited here today we usually go to winkies in new street but to late for lunch and to early for dinner not disappointed. We had a lovely afternoon fish and chips the staff are really young but so helpful and friendly nothing to much trouble we sat in the window it was very hot and the blinds we couldn’t pull down ask to move and it wasn’t a problem just moved to the other side of the restaurant but was lovely to see the young girl wiped the table down that we had been sitting at very clean . It’s well worth a visit so nice that everything is cooked fresh well worth the wait delicious thank you

Nope, won’t be a returning customer. You’d think in this day and age the quality of your offering would be good. Chips were soggy. Raise your game guys.

Brought my Scouts here after walking into Brightlingsea whilst camping nearby. Really friendly service, food was prepared quickly and was excellent. Would recommend to anyone else in the area.

Beautifully crisp, golden, light batter coating most white tasty fish with a large pile of piping hot crispy chips by the sea. Exactly what you want.

Called in for a late lunch, 4pm. Both ordered haddock & chips. Fish was frozen and stale and the chips strange. Think they had been previously cooked and re fried for us. Not impressed and have had an upset stomach all the next day. Do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere.

The Fish and chips from this restaurant were absolutely delicious. We had a take away and ate them on the front at Brightlingsea. You must try this restaurant!

Went toilet and got a peak of where they cooking food absolutely disgusting rubbish and flies everywhere. The toilet smelt like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Bought 2 ice creams and they was yellow taste horrid had to bin them. You've been warned.

Went in, firstly they didn’t take cash and the nearest cash point is near the co-op. Secondly there is a huge menu with no prices on it, only prices once you get to the counter so you’re stood there faffing around picking what to order with the money you’ve got out at the cash point. Tables in there were all filled with peoples old plates of food, even though there was enough people to clear tables. Food was below average, thought the fish was covered in vinegar and that’s why it was soggy. No, just oil that they hadn’t drained off. Would have happily waited a bit longer for it to be drained and crispy. No salt and vinegar on the chips even though we asked for it, shocking from start to finish. Disorganised chaos.

We bought fish and chips to take away and sat by teh waters edge to eat. Both teh fish and chips were great quality and a decent sied portion for about £7 a head. All was cooked to oredr so nice and fresh. Be aware the shop is only open for teh summer and was due to cose 8 September.

I have been coming here for years, I can remember this was my Grandma's favourite chippy as well. So this place has been around a long time. I just wanted to write a review as of all the places I had fish & chips this summer this was the best. Crispiest batter ever! Definitely wort a five-star review, I rarely give anywhere this rating! :-)

Small plate of chips to eat in £2.90 and was a very small portion. Food was cooked fresh so hot and tasty. Be aware of the separate menu price to eat in. Think a restaurant that charges to eat in should be able to provide glasses for your drinks

We have visited The Waterside twice recently and both times enjoyed really fresh, crispy fish and chips. Thoroughly enjoyed eating them on the nearby benches overlooking the Hard, adjacent to the Marina.

Asked for two medium chips to take away .£1.70 each ..she put them in a tray and I couldn’t believe how small the portion was .a few sitting in bottom of the tray.i said is that the size ? She said yes.i asked for more .with a moody attitude she threw a couple more in there ..won’t be going there again .and to sit in .prices are so expensive !

Best fish & chips in Brightlingsea. Cooked to order, so food hasn't been sitting around. Very friendly staff. Just seems a bit strange that they charge more if you decide to eat in. Choose this take away over Winkies any day.

Super fishnchips cooked freshly can see why it's busy friendly staff and clean basic seating area. If take away provide a cardboard box which is more environmental friendly too.
