They knew it was indercooked when they served it because I did as soon as I unwrapped it. Hot soggy flavourless mess and we were so disappointed after waiting in the queue Try Pauls on the seafront it is way nicer and worth the extra journey time instead. Less haste better cooking skills

Sadly disappointing chips. Stopped off for chips as just fancied some. Waited a while so was pleased to think they'd be freshly cooked. Unfortunately got home to find they were hot, but undercooked, some were practically raw, really disappointed, dog didn't mind them though.

The front of staff are always friendly and their service is great..the food is all pretty good and at decent prices. Andy though never seems to be happy and it's never a good idea to snap at your staff either infront of customers or at all..he seems to forget it's the staff that power the ship and not the Captain.

I had scampi and chips and my wife had battered sausage and chips. Now I suffer from IBS and sometimes battered products don't agree with me, but the batter on the scampi didn't upset my stomach. That deserves 5 stars.

Undercooked chips absolutely drenched in vinegar, wasn't even asked if I wanted it. Rather gutted. Sausage was alright.

Best fish and chips we've had in years. Not greasy at all (cooked in groundnut oil - may be this helps?). Freshly cooked in front of us. Very reasonable price too. Would definitely recommend.

Great rock n chips served at Andy's Plaice. The batter was perfect and the smaller portion of fish was perfect for me. A hidden gem. Will go again next time I'm in Clacton.

Soggy chips, too much vinegar and can't be bothered to take bones out of the fish or bothered to tell you making me nearly choke on a bone

Not very generous with the chip portions? Especially in the children's menu, hardly any chips inside box for the children?

Very nice food and cooked to order excellent value for money

I asked for a large cod and chips. The cod was tiny and full of bones. I wouldn’t even call this a regular size perhaps a kids portion. The chips were undercooked and greasy. Very disappointing.

Have been meaning to visit here for a while, eventually did on Saturday. Great freshly cooked food 10/10 not forgetting the A+ service. Very clean. All reasonably priced. Will defiantly be going back.

Have been a few times now, never disappointed, fis h is always fresh cooked so expect to wait while it cooks, it is worth the wait.

Abit of a wait but food freshly cooked and clean looking food and establishment.Parking can be a pain if busy in nearby shops but usually ok. I believe groundnut oil is used so not greasy food.

The food took ages as we was told it was being freshly cooked. The fish was over cooked and chips were raw. This was the second time that I've been disappointed in the quality of the food. :-(

Mushy cod like it was a cheap frozen piece cooked. Curry sauce weak and watery and only half a pot. Won't use again or recommend.

Fri night 5:45pm. Space to park outside. Helpful friendly service. Short wait but well worth it. Hot crisp chips and freshly cooked fish in crispy batter. Just perfect.

Emergency late dinner so needed quick service and good food. Shop was busy but friendly. Waited a little while as some items cooked to order. Everything was hot fresh and very tasty.

Best fish & chips we have had. They even took the time to check food for soya & dairy as grandson has alligies to these items.

Phoned ahead on a Friday night so I could pick up fish and chip supper without having to wait. On arrival was told I had to wait 10 mins. When I raised question about why when I ordered ahead I just got excuses from staff.

Lovely chippie mushy peas are great so is the scampi and all cooked to order 😁

I rarely eat chips as it's hard to find a nice chip shop that do good ones. These were perfect in my opinion. Best I've had. Haven't tried the fish yet but will soon.

nice people but i used this chippie when it first opened and it was lovely but the last three times the food has been terreible,the chips are reheated, the pies reheated,and the fish i had to throw away the last time i used it so i will not be going back.

The cod was actually nice but the chips could've been a little bit crispier since it was too soft. But highly recommend as they sell different sauces as well there but expensive, might as well buy the vinegar at Sainsbury's which is just to the right to it but good stuff.

Always cooked freshly, great portion sizes and the gluten free option is great for us on a Thursday, no complaints will keep returning...
