Have spent a nice trip round the museum we stopped for a drink and a cake. Partial to an eccles cake and since they looked homemade I had one with my coffee, the lady serving was very pleasant and told me they make their own. This was probably the best eccles cake I've ever had, spiced to perfection. I ate it, went back and bought the rest of the stock to take home. Sorry if I left none for anyone else, but I wasn't going to miss out on eating more of them. If you like eccles cakes, come here.

Friendly staff, wide selection of cakes and drinks on offer. Plenty of socially distanced seating. Perfect place for a quick snack before or after your museum visit.

The food and drink is expensive - over £2 for a can of cola! I suppose its OK if you don't pay for admission to the museum - they have to get income somehow. Food quality was OK and the premises were clean.

The cafe serves good basic cafe food (we had the leek and potato soup and the sausage rolls) and there is not a lot of choice though if you are here with a family it is solid, reasonably priced and just what you need. Lots of tables too.

We took advantage of the Early Bird offer available before 11:00 which was a hot pastry and coffee. Although sold as a "regular" size the coffee was more than large enough.

We visited here before the museum and found a lovely selection of food on offer. I enjoyed a greek salad, my son had a chicken and bacon roll which he thoroughly demolished. My Mum had a tomato salad which on reflection was not the best choice as it was just tomatoes and she only ate half. Very efficient service and friendly staff.

We had a coffee and cake before going round the museum. It seemed a nice venue with plenty of room, but not too crowded on our visit. The staff were helpful regarding gluten free items and happy to explain what was on offer later for lunch. But due to other plans we decided to eat elsewhere, but nothing to do with the IWMN cafe.

Having joined a queue we were told there was nowhere to sit! We returned later and wished we hadn't bothered, although there were staff, only one person was serving so the wait was long. Salad that had sat there for a while was tipped into the fresh bowl, sometimes staff wore gloves handling food and sometimes didn't. The salad was odd looking and tasteless, likewise the bagel and blt. No menus were displayed, tables were dirty and sticky and it's not cheap. Frankly very disappointing.

Long, long queues on a Sunday lunchtime with only two people behind the counter. Even adding one more to manage the till while the others served would have speeded it up considerably. Then - sliced white bread straight out of a packet to go with soup? And a choice of tomato ketchup or brown sauce - no salad dressing or mayonnaise to go with the salads (which were actually quite nice). I thought British catering got better than this more than 20 years ago.

Went here for lunch for the first time - not a great selection available so chose the salad, which was served for me. None of the different bowls were labelled and I didn't ask (too hungry) so some of the contents remain a mystery! Still very pleasant, but would be good to have an idea what one is eating.

We didnt get very far into the IWM building before we got enticed into the cafe area for lunch! The staff really cared about the food and the service so some what different to other reviewers experiences. Its a little on the expensive side but they had all sorts of hot and cold food available - from simple sausage rolls to ciabatta sandwiches, and some great looking cakes (although over £3 a slice for some we thought was too expensive).

Arriving at the museum shortly after 2pm,my family and I were quite hungry as we hadn't eaten since breakfast. There appeared to be very little choice apart from cakes or crisps. I asked the staff for some sandwiches only to be told that sandwiches are not sold after 2pm. Incredible. A cafe that can't provide a sandwich is not a cafe in my book. Will not be visiting again.

I'm severely disappointed with my experience at this cafe. To start with the trays you are supposed to collect your food on smelt absolutely foul and I should have known this would be an indication for the rest. The food was way over priced and of such low quality, it was practically inedible. Along with this tables were not clean and I was sat at a table next to 4 different tables each with trays of dishes and rubbish in that we're not collected in the entire duration of my visit (please note the cafe was not busy, as a cafe worker myself I know it gets difficult to keep on top of it when the entire place is busy, but when the cafe is quiet there really is no excuse) the floor was horribly sticky and the windowsills would benefit from even a brief dust down. Overall I just did not enjoy my experience and I most definitely won't be visiting again, sorry to say.

This cafe is part of the Imperial War Museum. We had planned to eat in one of the chains in the Lowry centre, but popped in to the Watershard to see what was on offer. We stayed there and the kids had the 5-item "picnic" while we had the hot meal. We sat at a table looking out over the water, so all in all with the friendly staff a pleasant experience. Note that having bought a guide book (as a package including a Horrible Histories book) we got 10% off the bill - helped to pay for the book.I do have to say that the hot meal was a bit heavy on the salt - the gammon, the vegetables and the potatoes were all salty. If it wasn't for the salt I would have given 5 stars.

Touring a fascinating museum like IWM North means you're bound to be desperate for refreshment at some point - but the cafe is worth a visit in its own right. We had our last visit to the Coach House because it closes on 31st May 2023. We have been here several times over the years but had to come for our last lunch visit before it closes next week. Mind you we had enough points on our Bonus Club card to get a free bottle of wine, but we said our last farewell to the staff, especially Pippa & we hope she gets what she wants when the place closes. It does seem a shame to demolish this restaurant & the Premier Hotel just to extend the car park for the Trafford Centre.
