Amazing service and food quality . Lots of improvement since last time we visited , the cobwebs are gone and the place looks very clean well done for that and keep up!

We had the carvery, but not very good as the meat section was poor, we were nearly at the e d of the serving, but were not offered an alternative. Went the second night and had a better main course. The sweet on the second day although the same sweet was noticible smaller and looked as if it had been thrown together!

Food was very good but take your own drinks in because bar staff make it look painful to pull pints 😞.

I visited this pub prior to lock-down and was disappointed with the staff attitudes and the cleanliness of the eating area. We resolved not to visit again, unfortunately the place where we arranged to meet was closed so for convenience we went here. So glad we did the staff were welcoming and friendly and the dining area was clean. We now plan to make this our preferred venue for meeting up. special thanks to Johnathon and Danielle who were very welcoming.

Popped up today for lunch 😋 and tried the new burgers 🍔 and must say they are the best I have ever had. And the service is 1st class

Fuming doesn't quite cut it realy, I'm seething,me and my partner have been regulars of watermead for a couple of years now love the food,the carvery which is why I (Booked) us a table for today to have a Sunday roast dinner cooked for us for a change, to get there at 3pm when my table was booked for, to be greeting by the front of house staff member who required I scanned my phone on the app on the way in for my details which I had already went through online prior booking, to be then told, find a table that isn't reserved obviously, do offs we trott nothing available unless u want to rub elbows with the table next to you, so only thing available was a table six foot high with two foot chairs basicly in the dark, and after a few minutes I'm thinking hang on I booked a table?????? To which I called the member of front of house over to ask why when I've booked do I have to just grab what I can get?????? Where's the table I booked? We don't reserve tables!!!!?????? I see around me reserve tables,???? Hmmmmm, to then be further told on questioning that little fact they are reserved because we have a leak, again hmmmm 💭, so are you telling me you have a leak allover that's a major problem, she then points out to me after me basically saying I havnt come to eat out the bins in the dark so pull up a chair anywere you can, points to a small table for the borrowers in the middle of the dining hall were you will have people walking past you from both sides, NO Thanks!!!!! I then say I will leave it, let's go, and upon the wat out of the door again get offered a more comfortable table which would have been good given as I've had a bad back due to a tendon injury, but by that time I wanted to leave before I'd have said something I might have regretted, you have reserved tables for boozers and pool players, come on!!!!!! Needless to say we won't be back!!!!!!! So anyone thinking booking a table, gets you a table, WRONG!!!!!

A few days ago I visited the pub and was delighted with the service I received by all staff. I was guided to my table by a lovely young lady with gorgeous curly hair, she then proceded to help me with how to order my drink using the new system and promptly returned with it(a perfectly pulled pint) and throughout my time in the pub consistently made sure i was enjoying my stay. I didnt get to try the food but the service was amazing, will be returning.

Very impressed with the Watermead. Looked clean and modern. Toilets were immaculate. Just the food let it down. Fish was not cooked thoroughly and peas were hard. Was offered a free ice cream sundae to compensate but declined. As fish and peas were not eaten, only the chips were. No refund offered sadly.

They now have a limited menu due to coronavirus and I was not imoressed with the selection As a result I just had the soup which didn't taste like it was homemade or fresh.

Stayed in the Travelodge opposite for work and have eaten here many times in the past. But this time the quality of the food was very disappointing. Salad had seen better days and the what should have been a rare rump steak was so over cooked it was pretty unpleasant. It didn't even look nice (see pic). On a more positive note, businesses like this have suffered badly so I didn't complain at the time. The staff, cleanliness of the place, floor markings, sanitiser etc could not be faulted. Hopefully once things get back to normal, the quality of the food will improve 🤞

My wife and I popped in after a long drive and booking into the Travelodge opposite, we knew we might not get served for food without a prior booking, but the wonderful lady doing front of house was wonderful she squeezed us in and told us we had a certain time to eat before she had to have the ‘reserved table’ that we were given, back. And then the young lady behind the bar/till taking the food orders was absolutely exemplary she is what all customer food serving staff should aspire too, absolutely first class place to eat/drink. The management should be so happy to have at least two exceptional members of staff working for them.

Had a very warm welcome at the door, Staff were very helpful and friendly. Ellie and Jonathan served us and nothing was too much trouble . The food was excellent, all fresh and hot. The pub is clean with a simple arrow system to follow Will definitely be calling again

Been going here since it opened about 8.5 years ago and it has had good times and bad times. At the beginning of august we visited a few times for both drinks and food and the food had improved greatly since the new head chef took over. But the last couple of times we have been very disappointed with the service we have received from one member of staff who point blank refused to let us in even though, on one of the occasions, we had booked a table and received confirmation of said booking she said it wasnt on the list and wouldnt even let us get a drink. It was 8 o'clock and only a few tables in. On a previous evening she kept telling us the time to have the children off the premises even though we were eating and it was only 8.30. Such a shame as this was a lovely spot where we could walk to but sadly now have no inclination to return soon.

We visited as we were staying in the Travelodge next door, so the Watermead was a convenient dining option. This was the first time we’d eaten out since the lockdown, and we were very reassured that the place felt very safe with lots of space between tables and staff taking social distancing measures very seriously. We had to book our table in advance and were met by Jonathon, who was a charming host and explained to us all the COVID safety measures that were in place; one-way system, hand sanitizers, regular cleaning, etc. The menu was a little restricted but the food was good, well-cooked and extremely good value. The waiting staff brought our food and delivered it to an adjacent table to maintain social distancing. Overall a good experience.

Booked a table for our family..the food was absolutely disgusting.curry was a microwave meal with soft popadom warned up naan bread.burnt sausage..warmed up garlic bread..service was 1/10.never eat here again..

Went for a family meal, one way system in absolute chaos, doesn't work. People queuing at the bar blocking the way in and out. Kind of expected no carvery (even though it was advertised on their website) so was dussapointed. Asked at the bar as to why, and was told that they only do it on Saturday and Sunday, so comment was made is that vecause you are not very busy, I was told that they were fully booked! We finally ordered 2 x hunters chicken, never seen such a small 'half chicken' 1 x gammon, was OK, 1 x lasagne, nothing more than a microwaved ready meal, with loads of congealed sauce at the bottom, which made it almost inedible.Plates brought by 'non-visor wearing staff' and left on a table nearby, (the staff had cloths to bring the hot plates out) the customers were then expected to collect the hot plates from the centre table, with no protective cloths. An accident or burn waiting to happen.We had eaten at another restaurant recently, and alot of this was resolved by staff wearing visors and being trained on 'people management', Alas I don't think that this would improve the quality of the very poor food.Would give minus stars if possible.

We went to the Watermead on the 19th August when the food was excellent, piping hot and good service, we have been again this evening the 25th what a difference a week makes, I had the hunters chicken my husband had the scampi and both of us were served cold chips, the plates barely warm, yes the chicken and the scamp was hot but that was all. The previous week a waitress asked if everything was alright which it was, this week nobody came and enquired if we were satisfied. A most dissapointing evening.

Greeted at the door on arrival and was told about the COVID-19 measurements in place ... food was spectacular and the staff were so friendly and chatty whilst keeping their distance.. 100% recommended but would definitely book a table with how busy it is . Thank you all so much

hi Unfortunately we have had the displeasure of eating here over the last two evenings and on both occasions the food has been terrible and the beer expensive, this evening however the manager was rude despite us being the only customers they had, she explained how the kitchen staff had bent over backwards for us to eat there even tho the food was clearly microwaved and thrown together. I visited Watermead last night whilst staying at a nearby hotel.Whilst it was very busy (because of the 50% off scheme) they were able to fit me in without a reservation.The food menu has a good range of options. I had Garlic Mushrooms to start which were fine, followed by Fish & Chips which could have been better- the fish was rather rubbery and tasteless.There drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a decent range of draught beers.Theres plenty of outdoor seating which was a pleasant place to enjoy a few drinks on a warm evening. The service was exceptional from every member of staff, who despite being busy were friendly and cheerful. The extra safety measures which have been put in place were well enforced and make the pub feel safe, whilst not changing the experience too much.

Had a great time, Jade very welcoming made us feel at home. As a support worker it is great when staff take the time and make it as easy as possible, food is great as well

Burgers are awful and overcooked, I’m sure the other food would be nice however the burgers are grim

This place is the best it has ever been, the food is brilliant and consistent, the service is excellent and the staff could not be anymore welcoming in these tough time. A big well done to Leigh and the team for turning this nightmare into the best pub in the area.

Myself and my dad visit here regularly and wanted to help with the eat in help out strategy. However we ordered two meals. We’re given two sets of cutlery. Two drinks. One meal came out and the other was nowhere to be seen. My dad went up to the counter and was told only one was ordered, no empathy, no apology as though it was our fault when he had clearly ordered the two meals. My dad decided he wouldn’t order himself a meal after this because it was going to take to long to make and that I would have finished by the time it came out. My dad sat there and waited whilst I ate my meal because he was offered absolutely nothing to make up for the lack of service. Gutted as we really like this place won’t be coming back for a while. We arrived and were met at the door and advised on the current situation. Found our table and enjoyed our meal. The staff were very friendly and made us feel safe and welcome. Ee were served generous portions and the food was fresh and very tasty.

We visited on the first day of the 50% deal. Everything was very well spaced out and explained well in terms of the one way system and where to order food and drinks from. The food was ok but you cannot complain at all for the price. The whole pub was clean and tidy with plenty of hand sanitizer stations.

Would just like to say thank you to all the team at The Watermead, Jade, Lauren and Jonathan who looked after us all so well today. Especially during these difficult times, when people are anxious re venturing out, but it's important to support your local businesses. We were greeted at the door and everything was explained so clearly, all social distancing and hygiene levels maintained. Not had a roast dinner in months. Appeared positive at first, was quiet and greeted at door & explained about social distancing lines on floor & exit to use etc. After that went downhill. Lines on floor were pointless, literally touching shoulders! Sat down, floor full of food under table. Ordered at bar, 2 people walked straight past me had just walked in straight to the bar. Realised carvery brought direct to table. Only had carrots, no cabbage, beans etc, no cranberry sauce etc. Came and yorkshire puddings dripping with fat with pool of oil at bottom. Yak! When asked if meal ok, they went & got me fresh ones, still caked in oil. Very disappointing, food always mediocre anyway, lot of stuff microwaved been told, which answers a lot.

We ate at The Watermead this evening .When we arrived the place was very quiet and I think we were virtually the only table eating so didn't expect to wait too long for our meals. Very few people were there drinking too so the staff were definitely not busy . We ordered starters and mains but it was an hour and ten minutes before the mains arrived. The children in our party were bored and hungry. When the food arrived it was paltry, I could virtually count the number of peas on my plate on two hands and the mash potato was lumpy,dry and very little of it. Very few chips with the burgers too. All the food was less than average which was so disappointing.We are not large or greedy people but looking at other reviews on here I was fairly amazed at what was put in front of us. If it hadn't been for my mother paying for the meal and not wanting to spoil the occasion I would have complained and I very ,very rarely do this as I do not enjoy making a fuss despite how this review reads.I hope the management of The Watermead read this and take note. Poorly cooked food, scant portions and slow service. No one bothered to ask if our meals were ok either. The food at The Watermead used to be rubbish and had a deserving reputation as such. I had heard it had improved under the new management . It hasn't . But go and make up your own mind . On the plus side the beer has always been good, just drink lots of it to make up for the grub. Its a takeaway next time .

Been here a few times since taken over, and the atmosphere was so relaxed and chill, the staff are so friendly so helpful and knowledgable and genuine. The food was piping hot, the drinks were cold and good standard. This is now going to be our local and look forward to walking down in the summer months!!

Had a great lunch today 6 of us were very happy with the meals we ate. Carvrey has improved and the atmosphere in the pub was nice and friendly. Rob was great on the carvery polite and really helpful what an improvement all around. Will be returning.

We live local to the Watermead and in the past havent had the best experiences. We came in recently as we heard it had new management and since then we cant keep away. Ive not tried the food yet but if you want the perfect pulled pint then this is the place to go. Fantastic service from the new staff also. Couldnt recomend it anymore!!

Came here tonight to celebrate my sons 16th birthday, haven’t been for a while as last time we visited it wasn’t good (this was a while ago!) however after hearing it had been taken over and refurbished thought we would give it another go. We weren’t disappointed the food was fabulous! My mum asked about the steak, which she thoroughly enjoyed and the chef (Rob) came to see her to explain how he cooked it! Sam the waitress was so very welcoming too. Can’t fault the service or the food, if you want a lovely meal out with a family atmosphere I would definitely recommend will 100% visit again soon!!! Stayed at Travelodge next door for for the week. Ate here every night except once. Dined early at 6pm and couldn't fault a thing. Easy to get served and find a table, drinks were great as was the food. Friendly staff. Good value too. Back next week for more

Came in December with 11 family members .......... visited yesterday with a group of 10 friends. Food was good, promptly served, with all meals coming out together. We had asked for and received a 5 minute warning for those wanting Carvery to get their meals.Desserts were fantastic! Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Visited here tonight and food, drinks and service was brilliant! Staff were very friendly and one of the chefs even came out to ask how our food was! Overall it was a great night with my family and will definitely be returning🥂

We came for an evening meal with my fiancée, daughter and grandma. We had 2 carverys, fish and chips and a chick ‘n’ mix. Jonathan who took our order was a nice bloke and took our order and got everything spot on including the amendments. Connor who was behind the carvery area is a credit to your team and a fantastic bloke. He spoke to my 5 year old daughter and asked her what she would like and asked her if she had a nice Christmas and complimented her manners. These little things made it a better experience because she was over the moon with his comments! Fantastic place with a great atmosphere and amazing staff!

Four of us came tonight and had a great meal and great service I would recommend definitely! The chefs were friendly and came to ask if we were happy!

After a wet and windy journey from Manchester we had a warm, friendly welcome. The food was excellent. Staff were polite, warm and friendly. Not been for a while but will definitely going again.

My wife and I visited the Watermead for the carvery lunch yesterday.

Not been for a little while and I was not disappointed. I was welcomed but two friendly men who went out of their way to assist me with my service users. The food was lovely and fresh and warm. But the one thing that stood out was the young man, Connor, who bought our food out. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and showed patience with my service users (learning disabilities) . He's a credit to the team .

Disappointed with the carvery today. Visited at 1.30pm with 84 year old mum and husband. Food was cold and the roast potatoes were inedible. Vegetables swimming in water. The turkey, however, was succulent and tasty. We have visited many times and everything is usually spot on, but today the food fell well short of your usual standard. Cost over £27 for 2 standard carveries and a small plate,including soft drinks. Will try somewhere else for a while.

If you come here for a meal, it is probably best to recognise that it is not trying to be an upmarket gastro pub with innovative food and outstanding service. It’s a chain owned pub, next to a Travelodge, and as such is aiming to deliver familiar pub food in a family friendly atmosphere. The menu contains most of the things you would expect to see - fish and chips, pies, burgers, chicken, steaks etc plus vegetarian options. It also has a carvery which oddly stops at 20.00, even though the rest of the food is served until 21.00. Why?! This would be a major inconvenience if a party had booked at 20.30 and some wanted the carvery....

Visited last night for a friends birthday meal (always chooses the Watermead). Food was fantastic as usual, always prompt and tasty and big portions. Was greeted and served by Jade who was so friendly and helpful, very welcoming. Lovely experience!

10/10 for the food and service. Mixed grill was perfect staff were great jade made you feel very welcome. Would definitely go back again.

My wife and I were visiting family in the area so stayed at the Travelodge next door. We arrived late on the Friday evening and opted to try the pub for our evening meal. What? 2 meals for £11 - we thoroughly enjoyed the lasagne and a couple of Wainwright ales. Food was good and the service friendly and quick.

Went for Sunday lunch today 2/2/20 it was packed. The service was great and the carvery was excellent. We all had puddings which where fantastic as well. Front of house staff 10/10 Kitchen staff 10/10 Value for money 10/10 #bestcarveryinnorthwich😁

Was ok upon entry but after getting food we had to walk all the way to the cavery to get gravy for toad in the hole. Turns out vegetables were included but were told only gravy.

Tried the carvery following new management. Sunday tea time so obviously a busy day.first impression lots of tables not been cleaned or cleared. Bar staff struggling to find clean glasses behind the bar.as for the carvery, price seems really reasonable and plenty of quantity. Beef joint quality poor, pork and Turkey really good.somebody needs to teach the kitchen how to cook roasties.Cauliflower cheese should be called cauliflower in white sauce ( no evidence of cheese whatsoever)

We came here as we can charge the car. A new charger and we completely charged the car in an hour. It was free of charge so a bonus While waiting had a roast dinner, drinks. Good service. Very polite and made welcome. Good value.

Family meal tonight, kids meals were excellent. Service was faultless, all staff were friendly. Food was of good quality and value. Highly recommend a visit.

Was great food & brilliant friendly staff. Definitely recommend. The manager was very good with his knowledge of different gin and happily explained them. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

The new staff at the watermead are absolutely fantastic, such a big improvement from the last time we came. We came for a family meal today and were highly impressed with the quality of the food and the speed in which it arrived. Special compliments to Johnathan behind the bar and also to gentleman running the carvery stand at around 3pm on Sunday the 19th (unsure of his name), all staff have been incredible but these two in particular stood out to us. The food was piping hot and cooked fantastically. I highly recommend for an enjoyable meal for a reasonable price.

Just want to say Connor who served us our carvery is an absolute asset to the watermead. We visited today and weve had a really bad few days and he literally made every one of us smile with how polite, well mannered and chatty he was. He even went out of his way and came over to the table to check we were ok and did we need anything? Such a lovely young man. The world definitely needs more Connors in it :-)

this was our first visit ,it certainly won't be the last .we had booked a table in advance were greeted by a very friendly young man,who showed us to our table asked if it was o.k or would we like somewhere else as it wasn't too busy .Ordered food and drinks at the bar ,he was very helpful and explained about the carvery,which by the way was excellent ! Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly .we shared a combo for starters,presented beautifully and very well cooked.Chef served our carvery,she was also very helpful there was a choice of three roasts Beef Ham and Turkey,all cooked to perfection, a full range of vegetables and sauces with gravy available at a separate table.everything was perfect!! thank you all,you will see us again

We were regulars here and the standard of food and staff went down to an unacceptable level, we called in because we heard there had been a change of staff and a chef from elsewhere had been brought in to improve the food and service. Both have been achieved, the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent, probably the best carvery we have had in a long time.

My fiancee’s family, our friend and I all had a beautiful experience here at The Watermead. We all have very different palettes and dietary restrictions and we were all able to leave with our tummy’s satisfied.

We had not been to The Watermeade, which is our local, for some time as it had really gone downhill. It was always empty and the food was not good. However, we decided to give it another go as it is under new management and we fancied a carvery. We were not disappointed. The carvery was excellent. I had the beef and it was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were plentiful and varied. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and it was great to see the place buzzing again. We will certainly be going again . Thanks.

The watermead has improved massively in the past month or so, the food has improved and the new gentlemen behind the bar (Jonathan) gives you a warm welcome as you walk in and nothing is to much to ask.

Came for a pre-Christmas lunch, what can I say made to feel welcome from the second we entered. The food was absolutely faultless the lady on the carvery (think her name is kelly) is a credit to the pub & the company all the food was fresh piping hot & can NOT fault anything at all. Would have had deserts but had no room left. Will be coming back very soon. Keep up the good work thank you your doing a grand job

Visited today for lunch the gentleman behind the bar (think it's Jonathan sorry if I got it wrong) was very welcoming & friendly when we walked in. After much deliberation decided on a meal choice the carvery was absolutely superb, piping hot fresh ingredients & the beef is to die for melts in the mouth. Kelly the carvery lady was wonderful very knowledgeable & professional with a happy cheery personality. The young lady that did a check back was very nice too. All in all today's visit was more than excellent no complaints at all well done today's team thank you so much we will definitely be back. Keep up the good work & keep smiling you are a credit to the pub you should be proud of yourselves xxxx

Had Christmas Day meal , food was great but atmosphere not as good as previous years , had meal tonight , food was spot on and staff were really accommodating, best we’ve had for a long time hopefully feel like things are on the up x Jonathan very experienced and good host x made us feel very welcome x definitely be back .

Went in today (1pm) for a Sunday roast and was left very disappointed. The staff were friendly and the carvery meat was tasty, however, the mashed potato tasted artificial, the cauliflower cheese was mushy and tasteless and the roast potatoes were half cooked and coated in black pepper.

Having visited a few times we have seen the watermead at its best, we have seen it go down hill. I am now pleased to say it seems to be returning to glory! We had a great visit. Food was hot and fresh and the service was second to none. Well done and keep up the good work.

About 6 weeks ago myself and the family walked out due to the service.

Took our grandchildren this morning to the Watermead and I’ve got to say it was an excellent breakfast, really well organised with Santa and a children’s entertainer ... all children got a small selection box which was a lovely touch ... Kate one of the waitresses is always happy, polite and hardworking we always love to see her in there and the new manager also very approachable and friendly...

We had carvery today the price is good and the quality is excellent the chef (Kelly) has done a great job since joining it is always fresh. It seems to be getting better each week the staff seem to be enjoying their work again.

OK we're just 14 days away from Christmas and the place was D.E.A.D.

We went for a carvery on a saturday and it was busy so we couldn't sit in the restaurant area so we sat by the bar. The staff were lovely and brought over our knives and forks and offered us sauces and even asked if we wanted more gravy. Genuinely warm service making it a nice visit, we will be returning when we are back in the area

We visited with friends and family and ordered off the 2 for £11 menu. You don’t expect too much from a meal this cheap but we were pleasantly surprised. What lovely service from mark and the young lady bringing food to the table. We were asked to leave a review at the till to enter a competition but we lost the card we were given. We will be back to book a table over Christmas

We had an impromptu family gathering - 11 of us........ not all the family but too many to cook for at home on a Sunday afternoon! We headed off to The Watermead, having warned them we were coming. We were greeted and shown to a ready prepared table in an area with plenty of space for the younger members to play a little without disturbing other diners. We all had the Carvery and every plate was cleared - it was delicious. To see everyone enjoying their food and eating it all was quite an achievement - so it must have been good. Staff were helpful, cheerful and friendly. The atmosphere was lively without being too noisy (although we probably raised the noise level ) ........ we had a fun time and will be returning. This is a place for a chaotic family get -together not for a quiet romantic meal! Arriving for a booked table we were pointed in the general direction of relevant table not greeted! Food came quickly and was good value and acceptable though not spectacular. Kids enjoyed play area. Our waitress delivered meals cheerfully and in a friendly manner. Everyone was happy with meals. Not our first visit and probably not our last!

Came in for something to eat around 2pm on a Monday afternoon. It was quiet and relaxing and the staff were very helpful. I had a carvery which was absolutely delicious and great value for money. There was the usual good choice of beer too. I will make a point of returning when I am able to.

Nice quiet relaxed pub. Staff very helpful and friendly lovely meal and really helpful with my vegetarian husband.

Visited as know Marstons pubs well from previous experience and could view menu prior to visiting. Staying in travelodge opposite so convenient.

Disappointing meal here Friday night with family.
