The Warren Sandbar in Gwynedd

Lovely beach bar/restaurant on a wonderful beach. We had drinks and food on two occasions (casual outside) and both times very nice. Has full dine in restaurant too, which also looks very nice.

Enjoyed a great breakfast with great food and service was excellent from the staff. As the restaurant is based on the beachfront with great views of the beach we decided to go for a walk after breakfast while the sun was out

We have visited twice, both for lunch and for breakfast on this trip. The food was lovely and the setting was wonderful as always. We were looked after really well by the staff particularly Mags and Chloe. Their attentiveness and desire to make our meals special made all the difference. Thanks so much xx

My sister was visiting for the weekend and I had been recommended dinning at the Sandbar for breakfast. All I can say is they didn't disappoint. We were greeted by welcoming staff and after being seated were promptly bought the menus and served. Our requirements were met as we asked for a sparkling breakfast. The prosecco was lovely, crisp and fruity. We both ordered the full English, and we were very full English afterwards. We didn't have to wait long for our food, even though they were very busy. As can be seen in the photos, you get a very generous portion, for a very good price. The bacon was thick, the sausages were fantastic. Everything was well cooked. The staff were conscientious, friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this establishment for breakfast and will revisit myself again soon.

We arrived to The Warren for a hopeful tour, initially taking time for breakfast. We were nearly seated by a young lad but he then gave out menus to someone else and seated them before us even though we arrived first. 10 minutes later another waitress arrived asking us what we would like. We asked for menus and she said she would take care of it and took our drinks order. Another 10 minutes past and I went to ask for menus again, with the waitress asking ‘oh didn’t you get them’!? Our coffees arrived 30 minutes after we had initially sat down and guess what, they were cold. No sugar or sweeteners brought to the table, when asked it took another 5 minutes for them to appear and they were thrown onto the table, plus they were hard and unusable! We ordered our breakfast with the now new 3rd waitress, very simple egg on toast and poached egg on toast with avocado. 15 minutes later our breakfast arrived and guess what, it was cold! Scrambled egg had been sitting under a lamp and had a skin on! Poached eggs were cold! All in all very poor quality ingredients! There is literally no excuse for getting this kind of breakfast wrong. I have now read the previous reviews and wonder what the management are doing to rectify the poor way this place is being run. So far it seems no actions have been taken. On paying our bill we weren’t even asked how the breakfast was, which leads me to think that no one really cares about this place. This lead to us not wanting a tour and we drive away very disappointed and wondering why things can be so bad!? My recommendation is to avoid this place like the plague and there are many other much nicer and more attentive places to eat in Abersoch who deserve the money over this establishment!

Fabulous location, it was a gorgeous sunny day and I had brought my friends there as I am a regular visitor to the Sandbar, I always bring friends and family when they visit me in Abersoch. We were sat outside, the waitress came to take our order but I was extremely embarrassed to be asked to pay up front for a bottle of Prosecco and 2 pints of larger before they had even arrived. This has never happened to me before, maybe when the drinks had actually arrived but never as the order was taken. When I questioned the waitress she said it was a new manager and it was under his instructions as some people were running away without paying. This was very embarrassing for me as I felt that my group and I were being discriminated against and as we are in the elderly bracket and 2 of my group are disabled we wouldn’t get very far if we did try to run away. The said Prosecco took an age to arrive and as we were sitting waiting we observed that everyone else paid for their drinks on arrival and not as the order was taken. We also asked for a food menu which never arrived. We were going to have lunch and spend the afternoon there probably spending a fair amount of money as it is quite expensive but as the menu never arrived we changed our minds. My family is in the hospitality business and would never treat customers like that. It ruined my day as I have never felt so humiliated in my life.

On Monday lunchtime, my wife and I, along with her sister and husband, attended the Sand Bar. We boys arrived first and ordered two pints of cider, which we asked to be put on a tab. These arrived promptly. The girls arrived 10 minutes later, and we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and requested food menus. The waitress returned shortly after we’d ordered, to advise that we would have to pay the bill BEFORE (!) she could bring us the Prosecco, and when we exclaimed shocked disbelief, explained that this was new policy as people had been running away. We observed that since we are not very mobile, running away was a unlikely occurrence. We paid anyway, and waited for the Prosecco and food menus to appear. 15 minutes later, despite we had paid for it, the Prosecco was still not delivered, and we had to go to the bar to remind them. The food menus never did appear. While we were drinking our drinks, I watched the waitresses serving other tables, and not once did they request payment before bringing the drinks. I therefore went into the bar to ask the manager why we were clearly being discriminated against (I can only assume that it was because of our regional accents). He denied that this was the case, and said that I was mistaken and all tables had been treated the same way. I was not mistaken. We left shortly afterwards, never having seen a food menu. Had we have been treated fairly and properly, I’m sure we would have enjoyed a couple of hours lunch with drinks, and racked up a bill north of £150. In the event, that did not happen, and it’s most unlikely that we will now return. I sent an email to the venue, outlining our experience, but have not received the courtesy of a reply.

Called for a drink and lunch, we finished drinks as food arrived 30 mins after. Cancelled second drinks after 25 min wait. Food was good and location great but service is awfully slow. It’s costing them money as we heard others being cancelled due to slow service. Shame

We've been regular visitors this week, just for drinks initially, but then decided to have dinner last night. I have to say the food was excellent (new menu). Burger, Duck, F&C all very tasty, and plenty of it! Staff were very attentive, friendly, and helpful as they have been throughout the course of this week. The high tide last night added to the ambience. Highly recommend and long may the positive vibes continue 👌

Stopped at this location a couple of times after spending time at the beach. Purchased several drinks each time and the service was quick and relatively painless - considering the Saturday was jam-packed with visitors including plenty of dogs. Overall a great experience with lovely views on the nicer days.

It’s had a lot of bad press recently through a very busy summer and struggling with staff and a good manager. The staff that are there do their best. We called on a quiet Monday, very friendly, sat outside and order lunch and it arrived quickly and was very nice. The views are fabulous and when the sun shines it’s amazing. No fault of the staff if they can’t get enough of them to keep up. Management of the Bar need to step up their commitment.

The sandbar is a fab place when the sun shines- amazing views, and watching the boats come in and out. The fries are lovely! Not tried anything else food wise. Service in the past not been the best but this weekend we did see a big improvement- there’s a new member of staff Anthony also who seems to be keeping everything in check and overlooking things and definitely there is an improvement, he’s also very friendly and helpful. The Sandbar kitchen team and front of house … 5 of us had a fantastic meal last night. All 5 meals were perfect and the serving staff did everything they could to make it a positive experience.

We stopped by for a coffee and unfortunately both the coffee and the service was terrible. I asked for a coffee with skimmed milk, which raised eyebrows and I was told they only do ‘normal’ full fat milk. I asked if they do milk alternatives and they offered up oat milk, which I went with. It was absolutely vile and tasted very sour. There was a single option for kids drinks - a J20. The service was dire and all customers looked completely fed up as they desperately tried to catch the eye of any member of staff. We couldn’t wait to leave. Never again.

Anthony is a breath of fresh air, he’s happy to help and is making a real difference to the level of customer service being offered. Well done Anthony, keep up the great work.

Awful service Slow & inattentive staff! Outside bar not used & they take around 20-30 minutes to serve one drink outside?

The service is hap hazard and slow leaving you a bit confused. There are lots of staff but they don't seem to be organised. The location is great but whether you are happy to pay the high prices is up to you. The children's menu is a bit expensive for what it is and the portions are not great. We got 8 chunky chips!! Ok for a one off, but only for the view.

This evening, we were greeted by Anthony, who was what the Warren has been missing for a long time. A people person who is customer focused. I found him pleasen and informative. Other supervisors on the Warren could learn from him.

After a stroll on the beach we stopped off at The Sandbar for an evening drink. After asking a member of staff how to get drinks we were told that it was table service and they’d come to us next. They then proceeded to serve 4 other groups, 3 of which came in after we’d arrived. We then asked another member of staff who said they’d be straight with us, then they also proceeded to serve multiple groups who walked in who they clearly knew. It seems to be if the staff don’t know your face then they’ll ignore you to serve their favourite customers. At this point we had to complain as that seemed to be the only way we’d get a drink. Thankfully Anthony the supervisor was polite, apologetic, and friendly. It’s a shame his customer service skills aren’t reflected by the other members of the team on duty that day. Anthony rescued what was blatantly rude and ignorant customer service - without this, we would be rating it zero stars.

This was a disaster. Menu given and then told we couldn’t have anything on it because you aren’t allowed cutlery outside on terrace?! Staff seemed confused by everything. We were then told that the reason we couldn’t have certain things was because the kitchen staff walked out?! Felt sorry for the staff in general as it just seems like sh*t show. The venue should be top class considering its location on the beach. Needs rapid improvement!
