The Wallflower Cafe in Canterbury

Just had an amazing Valentine's meal for two at the Wallflower. Fine dining at its very best, comparable to any London restaurants we have visited. This is the star of vegan fine dining, three courses that all delighted. Thank you for a great evening. The staff were friendly, engaging and delightful.

We went with our vegan son and all three of us enjoyed our lunches. Everything was fresh and tasty and service was pleasant. Nice atmosphere

Excellent food and well presented but a shame we had to wait one hour for our food order which was just two light meals! No explanation or apology for the delay. I would have liked to have given a first class review but the time delay and lack of apology spoiled my experience. I don’t think I will make a return visit and would be cautious in recommending to friends.

We stumbled across this cafe whilst wandering around Herne Bay. We are plant based so it was nice to find somewhere where we could eat everything. The place has a cosy feel with a handful of tables. Dog friendly which was a bonus! Staff were lovely & very attentive. My partner had their full breakfast, which for £9.95 was very cheap for the amount of food you get. Everything was fresh & cooked to perfection. I had their pancakes which were by far the best vegan pancakes I have ever had. We also brought a cherry pie & brownie to take away, which were delicious. Would highly recommend to any vegan/plant based eater but also to any Omni's We will definitely be back!

Another lunch time visit to this very special cafe. The food is fabulous and the staff are so caring. No matter what your diet there is something for everyone to enjoy. They were also recently rated in the top 10 seaside cafes in one of the Kent newspapers. Definitely worth a visit time and time again.

Firstly, I’m not a vegan, and I do not claim to be an expert on vegan food. However, it just wasn’t for us sadly. A nice little hideaway, friendly staff, but the food was, in my humble opinion, not as tasty as hoped.

Cute little boho cafe in Herne Bay which is impressively 100% plant based. Very relaxed atmosphere with super friendly team of people serving and cooking. Good menu selection with themed nights and a function catering service available. The bonus of being plant based, is that your four legged friend is welcome too.

I’ve been here a few times now and they have never disappointed. The food is always delicious and the staff are just so lovely and accommodating! The oat lattes are probably the best I’ve ever had. We love that they’re dog friendly too as the dogs love coming with us!

The food was fantastic, it's all vegan but there's things there for your friend or family who isn't vegan and guarantee everyone will be satisfied. But I'm not here to write about the food, other people have covered that. I don't do reviews usually (I think I've done like 5, because I was asked) but I was so impressed here that I downloaded the app, logged in just to write this review. I came in with my partner and her disabled dad who can't speak and has difficulty eating and drinking. The lady serving us was so helpful and struck a balance between being an absolute angel and not being condescending/speaking to my father in law like he was a child. We could tell he was happy to receive the help and adjustments made. What an amazing service they have here, they should be an example to all other customer-facing businesses. We had the vegan burger with potatoe wedges which was very nice, served in a cosy and relaxing atmosphere by the very friendly staff. Try the coffee-walnut cake and you'll be happy for the rest of the day.

I visited the Wallflower today for the first time with a family member (who's a regular). I will definitely be making repeat visits! The food was absolutely delicious, the flat white coffee made with oat milk was velvety and gorgeous. Helpings were generous, service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. Stopped for lunch with my veg-head mum and her dog the other day. I was dubious about the menu as I'm a very meat and dairy person.I had a chocolate brownie milkshake which was, frankly, better than normal dairy. My cream cheese and avocado bagel (with maple syrup and fake bacon) was delicious!! And finished up with a rocky road, which I devoured nuts and all (I hate nuts).Couldn't give better praise. Staff were lovely, place was comfortable, I watched them disinfecting plates and sanitizer was on every table.

Called in here yesterday. After days of heavy (but good) food I needed something fresh and tasty. I’m pescatarian and my daughter is a full on meat eater (disgruntled at going to a vegan cafe). We both LOVED our meals including puds! So much to choose from and all meals going out looked amazing! Freshly cooked, friendly staff and generous satisfying portions! Totally delicious. Only small portion of chips but really tasty and lovely aioli. Would really recommend this place. It's not romantic as overlooks a car park which you have to cross currently to get to the toilet, but it just feels so nice and homely there. We will 100% come back.

Went to the wallflower cafe yesterday (Saturday) after hearing so many good things about it. The cafe is in a great location tucked away in The Mall and with plenty of parking options. Would have liked to have been given a heads up on wait times for takeaway food as it took almost 30 minutes for them to make the tofish finger sandwich with chips I ordered. I was with my sister and we went and browsed a couple of nearby shops to kill time but still ended up waiting for a while outside the cafe. It looked like the staff were really busy and I don't mind waiting for fresh food to be cooked (it was totally worth it in the end) but would have liked a heads up before ordering as I likely would have come back another time if I'd known it was going to be a long wait.

We were staying at a local campsite and walked to the 'Cat' and were very glad did. Haddock tart and scotch egg starters were perfect. Sausages, pork tenderloin and fish pie were top quality produce and beautifully cooked. The service was brilliant, no rush, no chasing and very friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking for a local pub with top food.

We had the meatball marinara sub and the Wallflower wrap. Both came with delicious thick-cut chips and vegan aioli, roasted veg and lovely fresh onion salad. Thoroughly enjoyed!

A hidden gem which we are so glad we found. Had delicious to-fish (tofu) and skin-on hand cut chips plus cauliflower buffalo wings, handmade coleslaw and yummy cake. Salads looked delicious and menu extensive so we need to have several repeat visits! Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic little place with delicious food, superb and super friendly service but most importantly for us it’s dog friendly and we had no problems taking our Great Dane there. Went for a weekend in Whitstable and drove there for a dinner on both days. Very recommended :)

En contrepartie, nous avons pu y trouver une table alors qu'un autre resto, situé en évidence dans une rue piétonne, nous avait refusé car complet.Pour mon entrée, j'ai pris la soupe du jour : une soupe poireaux-pommes de terre, très épaisse, très copieuse et bien fumante, mais classique, sans originalité gustative (pas facile de remplacer la crème fraîche :;-) 5,50 £Ma compagne a trouvé son sandwich délicieux… et pourtant, elle est carnivore et a choisi ce restaurant en tout (mé)connaissance de cause ! :;-)Mon plateau de mezzé (olives, pesto de noix de cajou, « purée » de betterave et houmous à 7,50 £) était bien consistant car servi avec beaucoup de bâtonnets de pain aux herbes aromatiques (et non du traditionnel pain pita) à défaut de finesse (j'ai mangé un meilleur plateau, plus varié et plus goûteux, au Seapot de l'île de Wight).Petite erreur de service : la soupe et le plateau m'ont été servis en même temps. Ce n'est pas grave en soi puisque le plateau de mezzé ne comporte que du froid mais comme j'avais très faim, j'aurai préféré avoir la soupe rapidement !

Whenever I come to Kent and visit Herne Bay I like to come to this Cafe for their delicious cakes and choice of teas. Today I visited twice - chocolate brownie for breakfast (!) and then I went back for Welsh Rarebit for lunch. Always tasty food in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Small cafe a bit out of the way in Herne Bay. Tasty all-vegan menu, really friendly and helpful staff. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Lunchtime or snack/coffee only (10 am - 4 pm from memory), but menu fits that well. Only criticism might be lack of variation of the menu, but there is a daily special on chalkboard and the standard menu is good enough to not need to be constantly changed.

Our first time in Herne Bay and we were looking for a nice cafe where we could get some gluten free food. We found The Wallflower Cafe on Trip Advisor and the pictures sold it. We weren't disappointed. A warm welcome from the moment we entered, sandwiches which could be made gluten free, and a range of tasty sounding specials. I went for the buddha bowl which was delicious. My parents had sandwiches and chips. Dad needs some persuading for most things, especially vegan food, but came away declaring it was the best sandwich and chips he's ever tasted (in fairness he's 75, so maybe the best he can remember, but still a great accolade). Generous portions and good coffee were a massive bonus too. The only thing is that it's tucked away in the back of an arcade off the high street, so you can easily miss it. My advice would be... don't.

This is a lovely plant based café. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is great with lots of choice at reasonable prices. The food was excellent with good portion sizes and homemade in the café daily. I can highly recommend it to anyone who fancies some excellent wholesome freshly made food and drinks. We will definitely be going again 10/10!! Sorry no pictures of the food because we wolfed it down as soon as it came!!

We came across this lovely little restaurant by chance on Saturday as my dad used to come with my mum a few years back. What a difference! We didn’t realise it was vegan and felt a bit silly asking for eggs on toast! We settled for peanut butter on toast and a cup of Tea with oat milk. This was delicious and nutritious and we couldn’t tell the difference with the milk in the Tea! We are going back today for a delicious lunch with my hubby

Excellent little cafe. Great choices on the menu, and everything looks good! Today we had the bubble & squeak, smokey beans and wilted green and a veggie burger, both were yum! But the Welsh rabbit looked good going passed to someone else too, so maybe back for that soon.... Friendly staff. Dog friendly, our young terrier had a bowl of water offered before we even asked. For me this is a great place as everything is vegan and the choice is brill, and its so good it satisfies meat eaters too. Win win

Really enjoyed this tiny cafe, all food freshly cooked to order and a nice selection of tasty looking things I wanted to try. It offered something a bit different and i had smokey beans with wilted greens and bubble and squeak. Large portions so no room for pud. Really want to go back and work my way through the menu, I wish they were open in the evening.

Always looking for vegan cafe’s when out and about and found a lovely one in Herne Bay. The Wallflower Cafe a good selection of food and drinks to eat in or take away. I had the Wallflower rarebit, my partner had the Indian plate and nephew the veggie burger. All the food was delicious and good sized portions. Got a slice of cake and brownie to take away. Will definitely re visit to try other dishes and they do themed evenings Spanish tapas night soon so may try one of those, would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic late breakfast here! I had the yummy full vegan “fry up” and my partner had the hummus with cashew pesto and olives. Both meals were presented very well and tasted fantastic.

I love the Wallflower, I've lost count of the times I have detoured from journeys to Canterbury and Ashford just to fit in a trip to the Wallflower. The range of food is exciting, the smoothies are amazing and everything is vegan, meaning those of us that eat with compassion are catered for. Wallflower team if you are reading this please, please consider opening more cafes, one in Ramsgate or Margate would be very, very welcome!!!

Lovely food and lovely staff. Easy to miss, as it is at the back of a little old shopping arcade, or mall. But well worth a visit. I'm not even a vegetarian but there was plenty of choice for me, and I recommend it to vegans, vegetarians and others.

Whilst visiting Herne Bay for the day we decided to try something different and go to this cafe for a vegetarian option. We don't often have vegetarian meals but found the food varied and delicious and satisfying. We would certainly go back and recommend to others. It's a shame there are not more vegetarian cafes like this about.

I have been to the Wallflower Cafe 3 times now with various members of my family to sample the vegan food and it is delicious. The menu choices are fairly small, but I prefer this, with a choice of either light bites or a more substantial meal for lunch. The food is very tasty and freshly home made, with a good choice of salads, dips, stews, burger or Buddha bowls. There are always a selection of cakes or sweet items for dessert and I can recommend the smoothies. Friendly service. It is a great place for a casual lunch or tea and coffee with cake, at a reasonable price.

We went to the Secret Garden after a recommendation from a friend & we definitely weren't disappointed. There was actually only one vegan in our party of 6 (not me) but we had a fabulous meal with lovely friendly service from all the staff. Great that you can take your own wine (No corkage) They don't open every Sunday so best to check on line and we booked a table in advance. We'll certainly be back!
