The Wainhouse Tavern in Calderdale

What a lovely pub and really friendly staff. Made to feel welcome and nothing was too my hto ask. Thankyou for a lovely evening. Even tried the Yorkshire curry....who would of thought a curry in a Yorkshire pudding?? Amazing.

First visit, as my son plays for the pool team. Very nice pub indeed, and good atmosphere. Didn't eat there, but apparently the food is excellent.

First time after 5 years of almost making it. Didn't disappoint. Really friendly service, fab selection of beers. And the food.....just awesome and in EPIC PROPORTIONS. I love my yorkshire puds and the loaf pud was delicious 😋 just don't expect room for a main meal after this bad boy! Will definitely be returning soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Always a friendly welcome from the staff. They take card payments for food and drinks which is so useful. A great range of ales largers alike , all of them well kept I'd say. Dogs and children welcomed. Live entertainment included with football on the menu today.

Despite spending a while to get served by a very inexperienced bartender, the pub was great. Very friendly people. The whisky tasting evening was a treat. I am booked on to the next one. The soup supper was lovely too

An old building up a cobbled street serving beer and food. There's car parking over the road. Inside the décor is traditional rather than the modern generic beloved of many pubs today. And it's better for it. Food is good. The roast is well known for the quality, portion size and value. The staff are very good and helpful. Beers, well there's a great selection of cask beers that are well kept and each has a distinct character. There are the usual lagers and draught beers too. Prices for both food and drinks are reasonable.

The best pork roast dinner to date the food was amazing and better still it was on a Saturday so didn't even need to wait until Sunday you will not be disappointed 😊

My wife and I visited today for the first time, pies ordered were beef and mushroom and chicken, chorizo and bacon. Happy to say that they were both the best pub pies we had ever eaten, along with superb hand cut chips, tender garden peas and a jug of gravy. The food was complimented with craft beer. I would not hesitate in recommending The Wainhouse Tavern and would return again when in the area.

Strange pub took 10 mins to get serviced and there was only 10 people in the pub and only me waiting to get serviced only me the bar , no bar staff around Not ideal if you are running a pub

Fantastic Sunday lunch, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings. Hot and delicious, would highly recommend. Very busy with a lovely atmosphere.

Bit of a clique atmosphere. Nice selection of beers. Limited seating in the "bar" area, though big communal room with darts, pool, food.

I find it odd that I have come across this place before, but here we are. My son's band played for a private function, and so I found myself searching this place up. I was driving, so whether or not it had great beer was not at the top of my list. First of all, I have to make a comment about the outside of the building, which is amazing. In the shadow of Wainhouse tower, which looks down majestically from higher up, lit beautifully as usual on an evening. A nice quiet neighborhood, with a good sized car park nearby. Inside it's got so many lovely rooms, which I didn't get chance to fully explore. Whatever you want, from traditional booths and rooms to a small function room at the back, all nicely decorated and cosy. But then they've got good ale! Four casks on in the back room, and plenty of other options. The food we had was catering for an evening, and it was spot on. The front of house team were all friendly and helpful, and looked after all of us brilliantly. All in all a great evening, and I would love to come back for a future visit (although next time I'm sure as hell not driving so I can have some more of the lovely beers!) Additionally, I think this would be an excellent venue for surviving the zombie apocalypse. From great vantage points to defendable structures, this place could easily be fortified against the coming hordes. A true Winchester, if ever I saw one!

Popped in after a walk to Wainhouse tower, so glad we did. The food is so good we visit as often as we can. Its a must try.

This place is a hidden gem, the food here is on point, good choice of beers and ales, helps that they know how to pour a pint of Guinness 👌, with a pool table and darts it's good for a quick fly by refresh after a walk with the dogs.

Absolutely spot on Sunday roast. We will definitely be back.

Went after I mistook it for the Acapulco club, was initially disappointed then I asked if they could throw me down some stairs to simulate the experience and they did FREE OF CHARGE! Food is good too

Fantastic Sunday dinner. Lots to choose from on the menu. Had the lambs liver this time. Perfect. You definitely walk out stuffed that's for sure. The beer is great. So are the locals and staff. Definitely be returning again.

The Wainhouse Tavern catered our Group meal for about 20 people and it was great value ! we thoroughly enjoyed the variety of menu choices and all the food was beautifully cooked ,presented and very well catered. I would definitely recommend this for any meals in future.

Went for Sunday lunch it was really lovely apart from the Yorkshire pudding which wasn't nice it was very doughy in the middle however I would go again the beef melted in my mouth.

I got a Sunday roast in a big Yorkshire pudding it was absolutely amazing ,the beef was very tender and I also got extra gravy for no charge .

After a long walk called and had a sunday roast, very tasty and lovely staff.

Absolutely gorgeous came here on the 22nd for my mother in laws birthday & had a beef dinner the amount of food you got was just amazing & it taste soo good. Even children's Sunday dinner came with loads I ended up finishing my son's but what he ate he enjoyed. Will definitely be coming again very soon

Had the wainhouse tower burger and it came with pulled pork, bacon and cheese on it. Served with home made chips, onion rings and some coleslaw, it was amazing. Big portion too, I couldn't finish it all. They have a selection of great guest ales here too, all served by friendly, helpful staff. A proper pub with great food, you can have a game of pool or darts here too.
