Great little pub, with a relaxed atmosphere, even when busy. Authentic Yorkshire Tapas served, pork pie and a pint, who can ask for more? Huge selection of beers and truly a great experience.

Best bar in calderdale by far, lovely atmosphere and quirky interior, unrivalled selection of quality cask ales, keg, ciders, wines, gins and bottled beers, great selection of bar snacks and pies, staff top notch with plenty of knowledge and make you feel very welcome, a must if you are in the area, keep up the good work guys.

Love, love , love the Victorian Craft Beer Cafe. Really good selection of Beers from all over the world. Always something new to try. The staff are always friendly and happy to recommend a drink if your not sure what you want. Great atmosphere , plenty of space and seating available. Live music on a Sundays too.

No idea if it serves food, we just went for late night drinks. Great old world feel, very cosy, much bigger than we thought.

I’ve lived in the area for 4 years now and only recently discovered this place! I managed to pop in for the first time and it was lovely! Only had a couple of drinks and not food, so this review is based on drinks/atmosphere only A great atmosphere; lovely interior and a great range of craft beers available. I will be going back.

Chilled out oasis of excellent beers. If you like continental beers, this is the place to be. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Well what can I say about this bar. We went in there to celebrate my sons 21st birthday with family and his friend. When his friend went to the bar they wouldn't serve him becausel they said he wax too drunk. He wasn't drunk at all and all my family agreed that he wasn't drunk he was just happily enjoying everyone's company. Because they wouldn't serve his friebd my son went to the bar and ordered a drink for himself and his friend. He cane back uo the table with 2 pints of beer. Before we knew it the staff member who was collecting glasses took the glass away from him and we all had to leave. It was absolutely disgusting what happened because he wasn't loud or being a nuisance to anyone. We will never go to that bar again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Your bar is an absolute disgrace.

Saturday 8th July 2023 We visited tonight This superb Halifax ale house a multitude of handpumped ales on great knowledgeable staff on real ales good local following comfortable old fashioned pub on 2 levels a essential visit for real ale drinkers when in Halifax I would gladly give this place 6 stars😁 Wednesday 8th November 2023 We again, when in Halifax, came to this essential visit to drink a fantastic pint of hand pumped obscure brewed real ale This great pub always impresses me with its easygoing charm Great locals and visitors that were inside today and teally pleasent staff This place never lets me down Well done again, all involved with this grand real ale pub👍👍👍👍 Sunday 26th May 2024 This great pub we again visited apart from a great range of well-kept real ales on great people drinking them and great staff. A while ago wonderful pub. Great staff. Friendly and helpful. A dood range of cask and keg beers, well kept. A nice place to spend an hour or two.

The best place in town for a drink at anytime of day. Always a great selection to choose from. Also do a cracking (but hard) quiz once per month which comes with amazing food.

This beautiful building gets a 5+ for the beers alone. Head and shoulders above anything else that Halifax and beyond has to offer, it boasts a bewildering selection of beers; Trappist, Traditional ales (Tim Taylor Landlord!) great, straight up German Pilsners, and a host of IPAs. For a beer enthusiast, this is Heaven. God knows how they keep it all in tip-top condition....but they do! The staff are efficient and very friendly and helpful. But it is the place itself which really wins you over. It's all wood and leather and plush seats and candles and, it just keeps going over 3 levels! An absolute delight. A friendly crowd, more of your laid back adult crowd, its not a party venue in the modern sense. Having said that it hosts regular live music (which is great!) Along with pub quizzes. They don't have a menu but do ha e a wicked range of hand made pork pies. Take a good look at the pictures as they describe this place better than words ever could. Enjoy!

Stopped in here for a drink after a meal, never been before. It has a lot of what I like, many books and cosy places to sit. The decor has wood, wrought iron and stained glass, very good

Quirky bar, full of nooks and crannies in which to sit with local crooks and grannies. Actually, the clientele are generally young and polite but I can't resist a rhyme.

Cracking bar in the centre of Halifax. Serves at least 10 beers on hand-pull/key-keg, with loads more in the fridge. Prices are good, service is even better. The atmosphere is very casual & relaxed. A great place to meet mates, or spend with your significant other.

We love this real ale bar, there is always a really interesting selection of beers, stouts and lagers along with spirits and warm drinks. Cosy environment, nice atmosphere. Always look forward to going back.

Lovely pub and terrific pork pies

Always a huge range of beers and coffee with something for everyone. A superb sprawling extended seating area in different levels with plenty of cosy snug corners and also has huge tables to crowd around if visiting in larger groups. The decor is outstanding and the older features of the building which have been retained are beautiful. This is a jewel in the crown of Halifax and definitely worth a visit.

Dont go here. Its horrible. They serve beer and pies. Nothing good ever comes from drinking beer and eating pies.

I love the quirkiness quietness of this place. Bloody good beers, mightily expensive, but tasty. The toilets confused me, I can see it being an issue when you've had one too many...

I dropped in here for a quiet afternoon beer and that's what I got. Wide ranging selection of beers to choose from...and plenty of seating and corners to hide away in. It makes this venue a characterful pub.

Every time I go to this bar, I wonder why I don't go here more often. If you want a range of a score or more of craft ales, plus some very drinkable spirits, this is the place for you. Staff are welcoming and helpful. OK, not the cheapest, but it's about quality, not quantity. However, if you took the quantity option and binged out on some of these beers, you wouldn't be going home because you'd have forgotten what planet you were from, let alone your address. Summary: Go here, and if you weren't thinking of doing so (or don't like craft ales) then your mind will have been changed by the time you leave.

It's got a special cozy Victorian era ambiance to it. Good beer options from nearby breweries. Definitely worth a try

Just met the most ignorant man ever.Me and my wife bought drinks and stood at the end of the bar. A man walks up and moves our drinks to one side and makes room for himself. Apparently he turns out to be the manager of this establishment. What an ignorant man. We love this pub but I'm not sure we'll be returning. Disgusting man with no manners whatsoever

Great modern bar. It has about 8 cask ales, all well kept and about a dozen or so keg beers. Nice warm place with a good atmosphere. It's also near to the theatre and is great for a pre or post performance drink. It does food in the way of pizzas etc but I can't comment on the price or quality.

It’s an iconic ale house of Halifax with a unique interior and substantial beer choice. If you’re on the ale trail in Halifax it’s a must. Quite often we’ll finish here for a fine array of beer.

Great choice of beer and lovely atmosphere. Nice toilets. Can get busy and cramped so you sometimes have to push your way past in tight spaces, which with a drink is interesting!

A wonderful place, great beer fantastic decor and service. Was glad to have found it on my recent business trip.

A delicious wee pub on a quiet street full of period features and a glorious selection of ales and beers. Not a stop for any lager fans. Really impressed by the care of the staff to present well conditioned beer and was clearly popular with the locals. If I lived in Halifax, it would probably be my local. Banging.
