COIN Hebden in Calderdale

We worked with Coin for our wedding reception. We’d had a difficult road, losing two venues to closure, and we were unbelievably lucky to have found Coin, a stunningly beautiful venue in the heart of Hebden Bridge. From the outset, Becca, Oliver and the team were on board and got things moving fast. With their help, we pulled together our dream wedding reception in 12 weeks. We literally couldn’t have asked for anything else. The venue itself is comfortable, warm and inviting, and the staff have endless passion for what they do, with a deep understanding of food and wine that shines through in both their offering and the space itself. Not that it’s important with such a high quality offer, but they’re also very fairly priced. Becca and Oliver in particular were an absolute blessing, helping us to plan an incredible evening, listening closely to what we wanted and making it happen, and taking so much strain off us, after a very stressful run. I could go on and on, but I’ll end by saying whether you’re visiting the town for a day out, live locally or you’re looking for an event venue, look no further than Coin. You’ll be welcomed readily, and have an incredible time with some of the best food, drink and service in the country.

I attended "Coin" last weekend for an event. The venue is beautiful, food was lovely and service, for the most part was exceptional. There was one member of staff, that I presume was the manager as other staff members referred to her, who was incredibly rude though. Upon ordering a glass of wine by name, this staff member responded in an incredibly patronising way, "look at you knowing what wine you're drinking, love that for you..." To which I was a little taken-a-back. I was also stood close to the bar when a gentleman ordered a cocktail from the same staff member and heard her respond abruptly, "I've just made you one". When he confirmed he wanted another she didn't look at him, instead sighed and said "guess we're doing that then". It left a sour taste, and I don't mean the cocktail and would honestly prevent me from visiting again. What a shame, for what was otherwise a wonderful day/evening and location. I would like to reiterate that every other staff member was fantastic, pleasant, chatty and welcoming, so thank you to them.

Attended a family wedding at Coin. The food was amazing, the service faultless and the atmosphere just right. A perfect evening.

Had a lovely lunch of cheese and charcuterie, with delicious sourdough bread. The service was friendly and efficient, the wine and beer selection was excellent, and the music was top rate. A cool and comfortable place on a very hot, sunny afternoon.

Amazing drinks, nice decor and brilliant service

Every mouthful is a taste explosion! Incredible food and great beer. Highly recommended to those who enjoy really well paired foods and a chef who clearly knows what he’s doing! Great atmosphere with really friendly staff.

A beautiful place built in an old stripped back bank in the centre of Hebdon Bridge, the food was lovely. We had a mix of the cheese and meat sharing plates. If we had to pick a negative if we could even call it a negative with the decor the plain jane white plates were a bit of a surprise with how stunning a place it was. On an entirely different note they also have Belgium and German beers too which made me happy! We will 100% be returning here. Thanks guys. 🖤

Really friendly, knowledgeable staff. Brilliantly paired food, wine and music. Deceptively very simple menu, which has subtly evolved over our frequent visits. Definitely worth a visit.

First time visit (May 2024) two adults and one child. Friendly staff, lovely decor. Excellent menu; sublime tastes. We had x2 drinks and three courses for 3 people at £125. Good value. Let the empty plates do the talking!

Had an absolutely fantastic afternoon at Coin on Sunday. 6 of us - we shared 4 Sunday fondues and then shared lots of small plates. Food was delicious. Cocktails too. Bloody Mary’s were top notch. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and we got great wine recommends from Chef. Couldn’t recommend Coin enough. Thanks

A good selection of small plates. The only downside was they'd run out of oysters, but we still had a great time and the food and service good.

Always a winner. Yes, it's quite expensive, but the food is top notch. Staff very attentive, especially great with the kids. Amazing wine & small, but perfectly formed beer list. When everywhere else we like is closing down (e.g. Moorcock, Good Mood etc) just grateful this place stays open. Long may it continue. x

The most wonderful oasis in central Hebden Bridge. The food, drinks and service are consistently second to none. Particularly recommend the savoury choux chips made with old Winchester cheese. They are melt in the mouth cheesy delights. Lucky to have such an amazing place on our doorstep. Well worth a visit.

It’s a nice place and I hope they continue to do well. My feedback would be to provide more than a single cracker for the cheese board. Despite spending £60 for two (one drink each) we were still really hungry when we left. We’ll be back for a drink but will eat before we come next time!

Dog friendly, great food and natural wine. A rare find

Lovely evening at Coin. We were well looked after. A few small plates of delicious food and a fantastic negroni was exactly what we needed. We will definitely return when we are next in town.

We went to COIN on a weekday as a small group. The service was attentive and staff knowledgeable. The place was relatively quiet during our visit but there was a pleasant atmosphere around the place. Drinks were good, with a great selection to pick from. The menu looks quite exciting and when we inquired about a few of the dishes they sounded absolutely delicious. When the food did arrive, it was a mixed bag. Overall the quality of the ingredients was ok but the dishes were largely just a little lacking in flavour and in texture. I think if they get the food right this would be a wonderful place, they aren't a million miles away from it and the concept is spot on in my opinion.

Booked by my partner for a birthday treat. The food was amazing throughout and service was spot on. I messaged in advance to ask about vegan options and was given 4 different dishes to choose from as variations from the nights' menu, which made me feel really welcomed.

It was more of an experience rather than a superb meal out that we had and quite expensive too. But nice.

A good range of excellent wines by the glass is what drew us into COIN - not often I get the chance to drink Jura chardonnay. Lovely, friendly service from Katy. We didn't eat here as we had booked elsewhere for dinner but the dishes on the menu sounded - and looked - very appetising. What an amazing place - we'll be back..

Very rarely venture over to hebden, but this place will definitely make me come back again soon. Food is great quality, reasonably priced and the staff and atmosphere are excellent. Really enjoyed my evening here.

Stuck to cheapest wine at £22. Rest started to be very silly money.

Super place! Great food and delicious wine. The restaurant is beautifully styled, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and even our dog was made to feel so welcome. We had a fabulous meal and will definitely be back!

I asked for a glass of Chardonnay and the waitress brought me a glass, that looked unusually dark. When I asked her what it was, she point to the menu and I was shocked at the price. £13 for a glass of wine. I was even more disappointed that the waitress had not told me they offered 3 types of Chardonnay. She had purposely picked the most expensive. This is not how you treat Customers. We will not return.

Really nice place with a cozy atmosphere and helpful staff. The food was great, although the menu is a bit limited. BTW, the Brussels sprouts (yes, l know, not the most exciting thing to recommend) were amazing - couldn’t believe it how good they were. 5/5

Nice place, good atmosphere, a place that has kept table service so top marks. Worth a visit..

The food is made by an absolute legend, the drinks are off the chain and second to only 1 other place in town (the cocktails and wine are second to none, like) and the music is also the 2nd best in town. I'd pay any money for the knowledge, provinence and execution of this place. Best coffee in town too and its one of the only places nit claiming to be a coffee shop. If I could give 10 stars, I might!!!

Ok vibe… but… If you don’t order bread as an extra, how are you expected to eat the chicken parfait on the meat plate? With your knife and fork? Put some bread on the meat plate ffs Cheese plate is limited in that you can’t order individual cheeses. Put more flexibility in the menu. Charge per cheese/meat. Let people have the freedom to choose and taste the wonderful.

Lovely food, very knowledgeable staff and one of the rare places where you are not on a timer to vacate your table

We visited in the run up to Christmas. The staff were friendly and helpful, going off-piste to mix up a hot toddy fir my wife who was recovering from a cold. The menu looked amazing, and the small plates we ordered tasted fantastic. A tasty Belgian saison capped off a very pleasant experience.

Everything is fantastic - delicious food, great selection of drinks, friendly and knowledgeable staff, stylish decor - apart from the price. My partner and I paid £136 for our meal, including plenty of food, a bottle of wine and a couple of extra drinks. The quality is undeniable but it's a lot of money, especially compared to other places in Hebden.

First trip to COIN and I loved it. Beautifully restored bank building. The staff and service was impeccable. Incredibly knowledgeable and happy to help with any questions, giving detailed passionate explanations of the dishes and offering expert guidance with wine pairings. Could not ask for better service. The only slight problem was that all the dishes were brought out at once and not staggered causing the hot dishes to go cold. Other than that this was an amazing dining experience

Amazing place, Great drinks, awesome food and the best service.

Our party of 13 had lunch at COIN and had a great time. The food was delicious and the wine choices were brilliant. Coin were great at managing a large booking, helping to advise different options and make changes due to dietary requirements (including going out to buy additional gluten free bread). Would definitely recommend.

Spent the day at Hebden Bridge and going off reviews we tried Coin, we were blown away by their variety of wines (orange included) and dishes, we spent most of the afternoon gorging at what they had to offer, great place, amazing food and fantastic staff / atmosphere Thanks guys will be back in the future!

Extortionately expensive...£4.00 for 4 small pieces of bread...£7.00 for 5 chips and £7.00 for a pint of lager. Once we had finished and paid the bill...we went straight for a takeaway. Unbelievably over priced...we are not in Covent Garden guys...no wonder there was hardly anybody in.

Gorgeous place, great food, welcoming staff - this is a really lovely place - you can come for a drink, a snack, or a meal of small plates. The wine was well priced, and the menu creative and well thought out. Two of us shared five small plates which complemented each other so well - crispy jersey royals with deep fried parsley, burrata and vine tomatoes, celeriac and crab were stand out delicious. The whole experience was lovely, friendly and knowledgeable staff, this old bank has been renovated so well and the food the best we have eaten at a restaurant for some time.

I can tell what they are trying to produce with the food, but it does not get there, chef is serving food, owner is preparing food on the bar, they just have it all wrong.....I do wish them all the best....maybe rethink the menu and stop the chef smoking out front....it doesn't look good

Fantastic service and food was great. Served by Chloe who was absolutely fab. We pestered her most of the night but she was so gracious 👍🏾and the chef who brought the food explained whay he was bringing to the table. Staff, service and atmosphere definitely 5 stars only reason i give 4 is the wine was very expensive (for me at least) I will definitely bevgoing back

Decent, affordable wine collection and interesting food selection.

We were recommended Coin by the owner of Riverview, b&b, and were not disappointed. Very classy and yet casual and welcoming at the same time. The food was excellent, love the style of menu choices. The biggest bonus for us was it being dog friendly, having 2 greyhounds that isn't always the case. Good luck to you all.

5 stars - 10/10 A superb place. An ever changing menu containing a wide selection of food and drink, created and selected by highly skilled chefs and sommeliers. Great building and decor with a wonderful ambience, a relaxed atmosphere day and night. The fantastic knowlegable front of house team greet you so warmly on arrival and provide an outstanding level of service throughout the visit, extemely professional and attentive but stubtle. Very dog welcoming 🐾 which is lovely to find in a high quality establishment such as this. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a different place for hebden. Amazing staff that explain the menu etc. If your not sure what to order, they'll advise and are really good with their Knowledge, it a must try. Would definitely recommend.

Plates of meat and cheese bit of a let down. Nothing more to say Dissapointment

Myself and a friend have been in on two occasions and had to walk out due the smell of old cooking oil or fish. It really is rather off-putting, they need to sort this out as we did not want to stay with that smell... Tables also uncleared. Whilst offering a good selection of food and drink, their prices are very expensive.

Hands down the best dining experience in the area. Perfectly curated beer and wine selection. Great atmosphere and the staff genuinely know their stuff.

Absolutely amazing here the food is fantastic some exciting and new flavours on the menu. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and a chilled atmosphere if you have not paid a visit it's a must.

I had some beautiful oysters and a great wine to match. I love the vibe in here, it’s an asset to Hebden Bridge. Will be returning regularly

Such a lovely find! We called in as this bar was part of the craft beer festival. Had a great selection of beer and other drinks too. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Building had a great atmosphere and had been well decorated. We had just eaten so weren’t after food but the food menu sounded very tasty. We will be coming back!

Fantastic spot. The drinks are very good, I had a couple of glasses of an outstanding Austrian red, and the food is very good too - the cheese and meat plates are excellent. All the staff are super friendly and helpful, and it has an excellent vibe overall. The best bit is Jess the dog, who definitely loves the attention she gets!

I really liked this place. A good choice of beer and wine. Unfortunately I was the designated driver so I made do with a pint of (very good) weissbeer but the choice of wines looked very good. We had a selection of the snacks, aperitivo, a cheese and meat plate between three. I was hungry but there was more than enough food. The braised lamb shank was probably the best plate of food I’ve eaten this year. The table service was extremely good, very knowledgeable of their menus and you can tell they’re happy to be there! They’re extremely dog friendly too, most of the groups at tables had dogs with them and our waitress even bought a blanket for our whippet to lay on! The space itself is lovely and their taste in music is good and played at just the right volume. I highly recommend COIN and will come back soon when I’m not driving!

Absolutely love this place. Casual atmosphere, top notch food and service is fantastic. We've eaten almost everything on the menu - faves are oysters, choux chips and any of the croquettes, but to be honest everything is delicious!

First visit. Bit pricey on drinks - £9.00 BT La Chouffe!! Didn't eat on this occasion. Will visit again.

A long abandoned Lloyds bank transformed into a foodie paradise Perfectly executed small plates compliment the well thought out drinks menu of wines (classic and natural), beers (the best of UK and Belgium) as well as some exciting soft drinks and classic cocktails Chloe and Oliver (previously of the phenomenal Moorcock Inn at Norland) curate a precise menu of very fine food - happy little bites such as their floofy cheese choux things, also serious business such as the top level charcuterie and cheese boards, which showcase some superb, well chosen products (rare breed mortadella anyone?) from all around the UK and Europe Finish your perfect afternoon with one of COIN's signature Tarte de Santiago with clotted cream and honey

It's always nice when a bank closes it doors and is transformed into a place where parting with your money is a pleasure for you as well. A cosy triangular building stripped back walls showing brickwork and of course the old safe doors giving a nod to its past. Very nice selection of beers and wine, table service as of writing and a very nice local beer 'bread and butter'.
