The chips have always been good but have got better and better. my wife Loves the Gluten free menu. Had a wagon wheel stack burger tonight and it was lovely . Great service and great staff

Absolutely appalling meal. The food was uneatable. The chips in particular were dry, chewey, and brown but were grey through the middle. Extremely expensive family treat turned into a heated argument with staff. Will not be going here again! I will be reporting this company to Trading Standards, the Local Authority, as well as VISA as the partial refund offered doesn't even come close to compensating for the food thrown away let alone the experiene! Zero Stars. Go Elsewhere..

Was in Cornwall a few years back and looking for places that do gluten free fish and chips, and there were plenty. Cut to coming back this year and going back to the same places and none of them do it anymore. Then to my surprise a Google search brings up The Wagon Wheel and even then I'm sceptical. Because I Google search the others and they still mention gluten free, so why not the same here. To my surprise the Wagon Wheel has a fantastic and simple to use website, and it lists the GF options. It's clear to order and all their chips are automatically GF as they are friend separate. I place the order, it's confirmed, I then go to pick it up. Then low and behold I come across an lovely fish and chip shop, with excellent staff, fantastic and friend customer service. I took the fish and chips home and had it for dinner. It was smashing. Filled me up and tasted great. I couldn't get through ALL the chips, so have saved it for the next day. Can't recommend this shop enough!

The only thing that I have to complain about is the size of the fish, I ordered 3 large cod, and compared to other places, they were medium sized at best. That doesn't take away how good they were, the fish and chips were very tasty and so was the curry sauce that I had

So sorry to say this as the fish and chips are usually good 👍 but my husband has just bought some home and the chips had to go in the bin. They were so hard we could not eat them.

Nice friendly staff and our order was done quickly but we were so disappointed with the food. Fish batter was undercooked and raw and the fish was dry. Chips were stale and tough and obviously refried. Sorry, but we won't be visiting here again.

I don’t usually leave detailed reviews, but I'm making an exception because the owner asked why I gave a 1-star rating. To give some context, here's how I rate: 1 star means I hated it, 2 means I disliked it, 3 means it's okay, 4 means I liked it, and 5 means I loved it. We ordered the cod, haddock, and a cheeseburger. The fish was underwhelming, but by itself I'd probably just round it up to a 3-star rating. However, the cheeseburger was truly terrible — probably the worst I've ever had. To be clear, this isn’t about personal taste; the burger was just poorly made: 1) The meat patty tasted like it came from the frozen section of a discount supermarket — processed and flavorless. 2) The bun was dry, grainy, and stale. 3) The condiments were bland and added nothing. 4) The cheese wasn’t even melted; it was just cold, grated cheese sprinkled on top after cooking 🤦‍♂️ To make matters worse, I had my 4.5-year-old daughter with me. She finally agreed to try a cheeseburger after years of sticking to plain ones. After trying this one, she claims to hate cheeseburgers. Now I'm going to have to work hard for who knows how long to convince her what she tasted wasn't a cheeseburger.

Friendly service, decent size portions. Everything is fresh, the cod is fantastic. There isn't a thing on the menu that isn't delicious.

We are lucky to live within walking distance. We have never had a bad meal from here. It's the best around

Absolutely lovely fish & chips, the batter was lovely crispy, the chips were lovely too, and definitely an excellent portion size, we had a snack box too with lovely onion rings, nuggets, beautiful spring rolls and lovely chunky cod bites, and all served with a lovely smile and great service, well done to you all I shall be returning as very close to where we were staying, 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👌👌

Absolutely delicious food…. We decided to visit here as all reviews were great. I went in to order to be greeted by welcoming staff and such a clean restaurant. We ordered fish & chips which was absolutely delicious… bacon cheeseburger ( son loved it) …. Sausage…. And the chips were gorgeous! Oh and battered mars bars!, which the kids loved! The lovely lady brung our order out to the car to us! Thank you so much! ☺️

Such a lovely cozy place for an evening meal. Really friendly accomodating staff (despite two rowdy toddlers) and honestly, delicious food. Hats off to the chef! Will hopefully one day get the chance to return

We ordered haddock and the box came labelled as haddock but i do not believe it was haddock. It had a much more delicate texture and was possibly basa or something similar to that. It was fine (the batter was very good) but I really don't think we were given what we ordered and paid for.

Not the same standard they used to be. The chips were dark brown and tasted like they had been reheated and cooked twice. This was Friday around 5pm. We won't be going back.

Been coming here for a few years. Unfortunately, the past few times the food has been disappointing. The chips are dry and seem like lunchtime ones reheated.The pies are dry and the chicken burger is a frozen chicken burger, tasteless and not enjoyable. Nice staff.

Tried click and collect. Got there and was served straight away by happy and polite staff. Food was ready bang on time. Food was absolutely delicious. I had the cheese burger and cheesy chips. Wife had gluten free haddock and chips ( yes, they have a gluten free menu). We were both really impressed our meals. Even had pineapple fritters which were perfect. Couldn't fault this place at all. People need to go here. Well done to all the staff, you're all great at your jobs .

Cute little building, service fantastic and great fish and chips. Fish was very fresh and batter was crisp and just the right amount. Partner had the (massive) Bigfoot battered sausage and said that was really good too. Reasonably priced and good portion size. Would recommend going here ❤️

Very good. Sat down and eating our meal within 15 minutes. Great standard all round . Mrs had the half cod and chips which I’d say is fine for a small appetite. The piece of cod was s good piece too. I would have expected a tail end ,but she got the top end of the fillet. My tower chicken burger was lovely. I have a large appetite,but was full after my burger and chips. My stepson had 10 pieces of scampi and chips. We all had drinks and 2 sides between us. The entire bill was £40 ,which I considered good value.

Wish we had taken photos of the food. Best fish and chips we have had in a long, long time. Wish you were our local, but we are here on holiday. We travelled about 10 minutes with ours, and the food was still hot and the fish still crispy. The chips were amazing, not greasy, and proper nicely cut and cooked chips. Portions were very good too, and the service was very friendly. Nice chip shop style currys sauce. Couldn't fault one thing.

Was desperate for some gluten free fish and chips before we departed Cornwall, after searching high and low we found this place, just 10 mins from our hotel! As vegetarians we obviously didn’t have the fish, but we had a brilliant portion of gluten free chips, mushy peas and gluten free pineapple fritters (would have had pea ones, but they’d ran out!) they even had GF vinegar 😍 we drove the chips down to Carlyon Bay and scoffed them whilst looking at the sea view 🥰

This chip shop is far by the best in South Cornwall,food is well cooked and so tasty, and the cafe sit down is a must fish,chips,mushy peas bread and butter and a cup of tea, what is not to like,the staff are so good and helpfull go out of the way to help you,if you do go their pea fritter is a must try, however available at the weekend.

This place was great, best gluten free fish and chips I’ve ever had (lots of options were GF - can recommend the battered sausage!). Dined in, staff very welcoming. Even had a gluten free pineapple fritter with ice cream for dessert. Can’t recommend this fish and chip shop enough, prices also very reasonable.

Placed the order online then rang up to confirm wasn't a dodgy order as our home address is Derby, but holidaying in Carlyon Bay. Great customer service and the gluten free fish and chips are superb 10 out of 10. Best we've ever had.

These were great fish and chips cooked to perfection. My one reservation was the rather small portion of cod I got served. Maybe I was unlucky. The fish was cooked nicely without skin or bones. The medium chips was a generous portion.

Honestly the best Fish and Chips around St Austell! The fish is always cooked fresh and the chips are both crispy and fluffy. The staff are very friendly and venue easily accessible.

It was great! I had gluten free cod, chips and mushy peas, they reassured me it was safe and in a separate frier, I felt fine afterwards and I’m very sensitive to gluten as a coeliac.

Easy to order over phone. Had 2 cod and chips. Was ready when I got there. Fish was lovely and so where chips. Staff friendly. Will be going back Just revisited 20.07.23. Ordered on phone, where ready on collection. Unfortunately got back to car and clutch had gone. While I was waiting for the RAC which let me down. The staff asked if I was OK, the manager let me use the toilet and offered me a drink. What lovely food and lovery people. Many Thanks

We placed a large order tonight including gluten free and steamed fish. All of it was perfect. 5 separate orders for 9 people all coordinated very well and still lovely and hot when we got it home. Highly recommend.

The food is amazing but the staff keep us coming back time and time again! Remembering a customers name and preferences as well as making a special effort to interact with our children is priceless. Yesterday my food was brought out to my car before I’d even pulled up! Keep up the fantastic atmosphere Wagon Wheel you ladies are amazing.

Forget the so-called 'celbrity chefs' chippies, this place beats them hands down! First class skinless cod and chips, nice crispy batter, not soggy like some places really nice chips, very generous portions and at a decent cost.

We are on our honeymoon in Cornwall and have been trying to find a good chippy. We tried here and it is the best chippy we’ve been to in a long time! The food is all cooked fresh to order and is lovely! The staff are very friendly too, I would definitely recommend coming here!

We popped in and were lucky enough to be able to be squeezed on a table in as very busy and customers having takeaways non stop. The meals came out very quickly with chips not too greasy, fish well cooked and reasonable portions. We would recommend so thumbs up from us

I went out of my way to call in and try the wagon wheel fish and chip shop based on the reviews. I'm pleased to say the reviews are well deserved! I received a lovely welcome upon arrival and chose a spot in their restaurant area. My order was taken promptly and was freshly cooked. The restaurant was quiet but there was a steady flow of customers coming in for take away, all of which were dealt with in a friendly professional manner. I noted that several customers were called by name. A nice touch for regular customers! I was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant area and was pleased to see that when the plates were cleaned away from another table it was properly cleaned as well. The food came out in a timely fashion and was well cooked and nicely presented. I had a pot of earl grey tea for a drink. There is a really nice vibe here, marry that with the good food, cleanliness and lovely staff it is a pleasure to come here. The wagon wheel fish and chip shop certainly gets my recommendation.

First time we have been to visit. Will certainly be back when we visit Cornwall next. The best fish and chips we've had in Cornwall.

Update May 22. The quality of the cooking still can't be faulted!!! A price increase and now the portion control has gone off the scale and not had a nice flaky HEAD end in ages so now cannot justify 5 stars you do not get a great portion of chips even if you ask for Large so not worth it now only very special treat, To OWNER "BEN"? u need to look at other shops around portion sizes, previously I said Always very good quality fish and chips excellent CRISPY chips so mega if you HATE soggy chips. can be a tad tight with the fish portion though.

Staying in the area and found this place when searching for a chippy to eat in. What a find. Had the set dinner of cod and chips with mushy peas and bread and butter. The food was piping hot, the fish batter was light and crispy and the chips fluffy. No grease on anything. Well worth the visit!

My wife and I have just had the best bit of fried fish we have ever tasted. It was the Wagon Wheels gluten free battered haddock. The fish was so fresh and the batter was so crisp and perfectly seasoned. Even if you do not have to be gluten free try it …you will not be disappointed Thank you wagon wheel staff for taking the telephone order efficiently and friendly and than having it ready at the allotted time. THIS REALLY WAS FISH CHIPS AT ITS BEST. Nb do not spoil the crispness with vinegar, although my home made tartare sauce complemented the fish

Gluten free chips were really nice and not greasy as most chip shop chips I’ve had tend to be.

The fish was absolutely beautiful as was the curry sauce. Service was top notch and served with a smile.

does what it says on the tin, perfectly, delish food with great prices and massive portions. Parking is a little bit of an issue but can be forgiven for such yummy chips on the way home.

Went last week whilst on holiday in Cornwall, the cod was outstanding & really tasty, the best I have had for several years and the portions of chips were VERY generous and tasty too, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definately recommend this shop fish & chip shop, you won't be disappointed.

Staying at hut and hound locally....got fish, chips, onion rings and curry sauce as a treat for us and Bigfoot sausages for our dogs. The curry sauce was one of the nicest I have had in a long time

Just visited this chippy with the family for a quick portion of chips before our day out. What an absolute scandal - £32.30 for 5 portions of chips and 4 cans of pop. They are charging £2.20 for a can of pop - when the van itself says 65p on it!! Daylight robbery. Food was ok - chips are chips at the end of the day - but I’m afraid it’s a zero for value for money. Stop ripping off your customers. We won’t be returning.

Still good quality and choice available. Came in with less than half hour to go and asking for a haddock was no issue. They even on this occasion delivered to car. Friendly staff.
