A quick stop to this place for breakfast at our time in Derbyshire. Also brought toast and soup which we liked

Quirky tea room with excellent toasties and soup plenty on the walls to keep you entertained while waiting for your food to arrive... and if you fancied it you could probably buy the table you were sat at!!

I called in on a Saturday afternoon, for a cream tea and coffee. Very friendly service, good coffee and an excellent cream tea. The adjacent shop looked good too.

Helpful staff, wholesome food. Great soup and scone, and also a good toasted sandwich. Hidden but worth searching for just off the main shopping street. Beats the chains!

We called in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised with the menu. There was a good choice and very good value. We had bacon, egg, beans and toast with coffee for £6.95 each, it was beautifully cooked and presented in vintage crockery, and the service was very good and friendly. There was a little shop attached which was nice to browse around. Would go again if in the area.

Brought my daughter for a freakshake. I mentioned I'd seen a certain one online and asked for a menu, to be shown a box full of sweets to make a freakshake from what was in the box.We did receive table service but we were the only two customers in the entire shop at almost midday!.Upon ordering the shake my daughter saw a mouse run across the food pantry at the back of the shop... Now I know this isn't unheard of, but when I came back from getting cash, as it's cash only, the ladies daughter apologised and said it was her with a toy mouse..... My daughter is 9 and argued the fact it was real. Also saw the owner smoke a fag outside then come in and serve without washing her hands. Can't grumble the fact that my daughter loved the shake and it was really cheap. But cleanliness, safety and vintage where deffinitely not up to standards.

Nothing special about this place, over priced, poor quality...poor customer service. Never again. For the price I was expecting quality,I've visited a lot of tea rooms and this one is the worse.

This is the second time visiting since they have opened. Clean, bright and very welcoming looks like a proper teas room. The staff were very nice like the first visit. The food was amazing and so was the service. We only have to wait a little bit as they were quite busy which was to be expected but they made sure that we were ok and assured that they will be with us. Will return again soon.

I have visited the tea rooms twice since it opened 4 months or so ago. First visit I went with my very fussy eating daughter, my daughter chose what she wanted and ate every bit and loved her luxury milkshake. I ordered food and I must say it was amazing very tasteful. 2nd visit was with a friend same again food was lovely, staff were polite and met our needs. We now make it our monthly outing and we look forward to it.

Me and my partner visited here for our lunch, when we orderd it took just under 2 hours until we got our food. Aswell as waiting a hour for our drinks. The service was very very slow and i understand that it takes time to cook ect but when your a paying customer you expect to get what your paying for on time. Aswell as this, we didnt get what we orderd as they had ran out of what we wanted. However when the food came it was lovely. I just think somthing needs to be done with how long customers are waiting.

Visited with a friend on our visit to Shirebrook Market, after sitting down at a table and looking at the menu, the prices were like that of an upmarket coffee shop in London! I wasn't at all enjoying the experience here, staff were sharp and not very friendly at all, the food was overpriced and small portions, my salad looked and tasted like it was over a week old! Needless to say we won't be visiting again!

Me and my husband came here last Thursday for first time only to find it was pensioners day. Well let me tell you it was a lovely setting, the staff were excellent and the scone with jam and clotted cream with coffee was scrumptious. It was one of those times when I didn't want it to finish. We will definitely go there many more times. Thanks for a lovely afternoon tea.

Called in with a friend just for a drink, but were tempted by the cream teas. Had a Delcious fresh fruit scone each with jam and cream and a big pot of tea. Also noticed a great choice of cakes on display, which looked tempting. Very friendly service, made welcome and not rushed, plenty of people calling in while we were there too. Lovely vintage decor with China tea sets and covers on the tables (Nanas would approve). Really good value, Will have to call back for the afternoon tea soon.

We’d just had a doctor’s appointment and were looking for some late lunch at around 3pm on a weekday (Thursday). The staff were not actively unpleasant, but they surely were not friendly either- the level of service and welcome is much less than the other coffee shops in Glossop. We had the potato hash, which was very, very fatty - the hash is made of mince and usually ok, but this was very meat-heavy with very few veg, and it tasted overwhelmingly of liquid fat in the gravy. Having enjoyed it before, several times, this was diabolical - we’ll not be back. Especially as the food hygiene score has now fallen (currently a ‘4’). The service now became quite surly. By 4pm the staff lined up, clearly ready to go home. When asked, very nicely ‘are we keeping you from going home?’, they actually just said ‘yes’. No smile, no mitigation, no explanation, just ‘yes’. We drank our tea, paid, and left. There once was no competition in Glossop. Now there’s a lot, and that competition is friendlier, more welcoming, and- to be honest - seems cleaner also. And their food is now better also. We shan’t be back. This cafe does not deserve our business. I work really hard for that money and it can be better spent elsewhere.

Just popped in for a bite of lunch. The two bar staff were very welcoming. Nice selection of beers/ales on tap, and a good selection of alcohol-free bottled beers. Good selection of dishes on the menu. My wife and I each ordered one of the sausage and mash dishes. Got a choice of types of sausages, types of mashed spuds, and type of gravy. Food was delivered quite quickly and was absolutely delicious. Was a great pub to find and I would not hesitate to visit again next time we are back in the area.

Overpriced, underwhelming food. Portion sizes were appealing for the price. I won't eat here again. The quality was poor too.

We have been regular visitors to Hargreaves prior to Covid, it's our favourite eatery in Buxton and always look forward to our visit. We visited yesterday and what a disappointment. What was once an " Edwardian " tea room , now looks more like a works canteen. My favourite colour is green, but the plain painted walls in a drab olive colour just doesn't work especially with no prints to break it up. Tableclothes seem to have disappeared and the lighting looks awful. Oh and they have fallen into the trap of PC "Unisex" loos. Having said all that, the food was very good and the staff/service efficient and friendly. Sorry, these, I know, are difficult times and it is all a matter of personal taste, just not to ours. I wish them well but we will now have to seek out pasture new.
