We visited here to attend one of the Christmas parties and what an experience! The staff were amazing, the party was so well organised and there was so much to do for the price. Would highly recommend!!!

My Grandson aged 4 loves coming here because he is welcome to play with all the toys they have while I have a quiet cup of tea. Just a couple of points . When paying , no idea how much it was as the server didn't say " well that's... " and a receipt not offered . Also lots of flies which was a bit off putting , people kept leaving the toilet door open and tbh the smell wasn't pleasant . I wouldn't normally comment but for the price I would expect a slightly better experience

Walked past here while walking in town and had to go in to take a look! Amazing selection of cakes, brownies and more. I got a jammy dodger square (can't remember what it was called but was like a blondie and rocky road mixed together). Was really good. Large piece and lots of lovely sticky jam inside as well as chocolate, biscuit and marshmallow pieces. My wife got a piece of the Oreo cookie pie. Also very good. Would definitely recommend the treats here, and we'll be back next time we're in town!

I came here early March 2020 with 2 friends as a get together following a birthday. There were plenty of tables on arrival around lunch time and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The place filled up quite quickly but never felt overcrowded and spaces for new customers seemed to be turned around quickly as well. We all ordered a drink and one of the amazing selection of cakes, they are delicious but so big its hard to eat one in one go! Would definately visit again, whether for takeout cakes as a treat or part of a gift, or as a venue for a catch up. They mainly serve drinks and sweet treats, not really a savoury place apart from a soup option on the menu from what I saw.

Glossy trimmings (so called Artisan Clotted Cream and sliced fresh strawberries) cannot disguise or compensate for an awful main product (the scone). I don't know how old they were, but they could have done creditable service as ice hockey pucks. Also, when the young server keenly asked how were your scones (expecting fulsome praise) she became flustered and didn't know what to do with the answer 'freadful' OK ... it's dog friendly.

If you are in Uppermill looking for the Vintage Cup Cake Kitchen then you will have difficulty in finding it. Although they are still using that name on certain social media site the name over the door is now The Cake Kitchen. This was our first visit after being recommended by a friend. We went along with another couple who were not from the area but were visiting us from abroad. There was a good selection of cakes to choose from, in fact we were spoiled for choice. Some of the cakes were big enough for a couple to share at. We had a selection of drinks, English breakfast, green tea and coffee. There was also a selection of cakes and scones. All the cakes were enjoyed. Service was efficient and laid back. Can certainly recommend to those who love cakes.

After reading reviews on here, we thought we would visit whilst on holiday. This place is fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We all had scones with jam and locally produced cream. The scones were warm and tasted delightful. We had 3 teapots of tea which was also lovely and staff gave us a plate of dog biscuits for our four legged friend. The decor was classic and tasteful with real china used. There was a book exchange available for customers. The selection if available cakes was extensive. Outdoor signs read as 'Cake kitchen' so not sure if the business has changed hands. Definitely worth a visit. The staff are a credit to the cafe.

I used to be a regular here when it was first opened. It was a charming cafe with great cakes and lovely staff who valued customers. Unfortunately the last few times I have visited I have been greeted by surly uncaring young girls. Twice they have just shrugged and said there were no tables. On my last visit after struggling up the steps with a pram I was told the only tables were outside. I paid for a coffee and cake and asked how best to access the outside tables. I was just told with a shrug via either doorway, with no offer of help with the steps. I choose the nearest door only to realise the other door was better as I would have to go down all the steps with the pram, on to the pavement and then struggle back up the other set of steps because the entrance to the seating is via the second door. I pointed this out to the girl on the till, to which I got another shrug, one of the ladies I recognised as one of the original owners heard the exchange but did not intervene. The coffee and cake were lovely but I won't be visiting again.

Catching up on cafe reviews, so we visited a few weeks ago. After a walk up and down on a rare day off we popped in, little cafes are a favourite, for a treat. I visited late in the day with my mother and sister after seeing the cakes on social media. When we arrived the lady who served us was lovely and friendly. With a wide range of cakes we ordered quite a few: a millionaire cheesecake pot, flake cake, chocolate orange cake, caramac blondie brownie and a mini salted caramel cake. There cakes were beautifully presented and works of art, but no better than an average patisserie. The cheesecake wasn’t set, the cakes were basic, however the brownie was delicious.

Its been a few years since we have last been here. It is now twice the size it was and still has the same friendly attentive service. I had the caramel cheesecake which was to die for- however it was really hard to eat it on the small wooden board it was served on- there was nothing to contain the crumbs which spread themselves over all four corners of the table. I ordered a scone for mun. what we got was 2 scones, a tiny jam, 2 small pat of butter and a small clotted cream. OK but way too much for her and.... after all this time they still cannot make a decent scone- way too dry needed at least 3 times the amount of butter- especially as they were served warm (had they been microwaved? Possibly) Mum reported that the coffee was lovely. i had a diet coke which is notoriously difficult to drink with a paper straw. I was not offered the option of a glass (at least it was not in a jam jar this time :) )

We loved driving through the scenic views of Saddleworth on a sunny day to visit the VCK specialist dessert and cupcake café in Uppermill. The village is quaint and has a relaxed atmosphere which the vintage cupcake kitchen fits into perfectly. Upon entering you get a welcoming homely feel even with it being busy with customers. The décor is charming, there's vintage china cups with sugar in on the table and its the little details like this that add to the character of the shop. We put our trust in the staff who recommended the unicorn milkshake with the milky bar cheesecake, to say that we were glad we went with their recommendation is an understatement. There are people that think all cheesecakes are made equally but there are some that rise head and shoulders above others and the milky bar cheesecake here is one of them. There was layer of white chocolate ganache on top which tasted like creamy milky bar chocolate and blended into the cheesecake effortlessly. The recommendation of the unicorn milkshake was genius, it was decorated with party rings and wasn't overly sweet so balanced out the richness of the cheesecake perfectly. The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen has lots of homemade treats on offer, cupcakes, shortcake, scones and chocolate chunk brownies to name a few plus an amazing afternoon tea that you have to pre book for. If you want to get away from busy city life its worth driving to Uppermill and enjoying something created by people passionate about what they are doing. Instagram: @foodshak

Very well presented & tasted great. The tea was lovely also. There is a fruit infused water dispenser inside which is free to use, you can tell the owner takes pride in the place. The cupcakes here are incredible. I'm a big fan of cupcakes in general and these are some of the best you will find in the North of England, if not the whole of the UK. They far outshine the cupcakes you can buy in individual boxes in Selfridge's as well. If it's a sunny day, grab yourself a seat outside and enjoy a nice cold drink with any of the cupcakes and that's a pretty amazing day right there. If it isn't sunny, enjoy a cosy time inside. The cupcake frosting is so light and fluffy and the flavour combinations are spot on. I shared a lemon meringue cupcake and a crunchie cupcake and both were fantastic. I also had a chocolate milkshake, which whilst also super-tasty, probably wasn't required (ok it wasn't but I got over excited) and you might be best selecting your drink with the flavour of your cupcake in mind. Really friendly and happy staff and a great place to go as a couple, with your friends, your Mum or pretry much anyone. Hell, treat yourself and go on your own - everyone deserves to enjoy at least two of these cupcakes!

I brought my Mum and daughter here for the afternoon tea last Saturday. I thought the whole place seemed organised and we were seated and served quickly but that was where the service ended. We ate all our food and drank our drinks. Not once did anyone come near us again, not to table check, clear our dirty plates or ask if we would like another drink (which we would have liked) At £18 a head so a total of £54 for me I would have expected a little more customer service. The food was just fine, not really anything special and the scones were very dry. I wish we'd just called in for a drink and a cake.

It was a busy sunny afternoon in a delightful village we were ready for afternoon tea. After waiting just about 15 minutes we were able to get a table outside at The VCK tea room. The service was wonderful - nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff even though it was an extremely busy afternoon. My husband went for scones which he said were the best he'd had in a long time. He was given a plate of two homemade scones, one plain and one fruit and alongside butter homemade jam there was also a small dish with the freshest and tastiest raspberries. He also chose a banoffee milkshake which was thick and the best I had ever tasted and you could really taste the fresh bananas.I simply had a toasted teacake and a cup of coffee that really tasted of coffee. We watched as other people got stuck into delicious looking cakes we we'd had enough. The VCK now do customises cakes for all occasions at really sensible prices. We will certainly be back - next time to have a cake!

Been wanting to visit the VCK for a while and managed to make a booking for Mothers Day. I've had many afternoon teas but I think it was by far the best. The savoury food was as lovely as the sweet, particularly the ploughman's scone and the pastry on the spinach tart. Cakes were fabulous and plentiful as was the tea. It irks me when tea isn't hot but it was piping the whole time (4/5 cups of tea for 2 in one pot!) . The staff were very attentive and service was great. The only issue we had was we had the small table facing the wall which I didn't like but just moved the chairs round so it wasn't too much of an issue. We took some cakes home which were lovely and will definitely be returning as soon as possible. Fabulous!

Such a lovely little cafe and amazing food. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for me, however I couldn't help overhearing how the managers spoke to the waitresses! They were really quite rude and unprofessional. Perhaps a little more respect could be paid to these hardworking girls to make the customer experience more enjoyable.

Took my toddler here as he loves cupcakes. We decided to sit in and ordered some lunch with a quite abrupt waitress. The lunch was nice but a little pricey compared with other cafes in Uppermill. There was no fresh fruit juice available only a bottle of apple squash drink. After lunch, we had a cupcake, which was lovely but, again, pricey for what it was. The cupcakes and cakes are lovely so I think in future we'll get one to take home instead.

Another fantastic trip the the most delightful place in Uppermill. The vintage cupcake kitchen is my total favourite! We booked for afternoon tea for adults and the children had afternoon tea with juices! Eyes popping out of our heads with the variety and the deliciousness of every tier! The adults afternoon tea was Devine, a delicious tea cup of homemade soup with a dainty roll, cucumber and cream cheese finger sandwiches, potato skins and mini tarts. The next were amazing scones with cream, jam and fresh raspberries! If that was not enough the cake tier was out of this world with salted caramel mini cupcakes, chocolate brownies, white chocolate meringue and the icing on the cake for me giant dipped (very well dipped ) strawberries! All of which was served with a pot of tea for me and coffee for the others. The surroundings were fantastic and since my last review they have extended giving even more space for even more happy customers. The children had a vegetarian option selection of sandwiches jam and cheese and toasted tea cakes crisps and again delicious cake, mini cakes, scones and brownies they were so happy and loved every bit of it.Loved every second and every bite!!

I visited with my two daughters after hearing lots of praise about the tea room and I am so glad that we did! It was really yummy and we were spoilt for choice, the cake portion is so huge that I only managed a third of it and brought the rest home in a beautifully presented box, my girls had the scones and these were delightful and wonderfully presented with little buckets of fresh strawberries and all the staff were very polite and friendly and We can't wait to come again

This is a beautifully presented place with an incredible selection of cakes and pastries all made on the premises. It has the largest selection of cupcakes I have ever seen. My only criticism is there could be more savoury options but their motto is cakes not sandwiches. You can take your dog in and there are free newspapers. My wife and I had what seemed the only savoury option of soup of the day, in this case tomato and red pepper, which was absolutely delicious accompanied by a mini loaf and a generous helping of butter, thankfully not wrapped in foil. I was very tempted by the Terry's Chocolate Orange Cheesecake but managed to resist. Definitely a place for those of you with a sweet tooth and there is an interesting selection of soft drinks.

If you want a really nice drink and fantastic cake then go to the Vintage Cupcake Kitchen in Uppermill. You can sit inside or outside and watch the village life. There is a great selection of drinks and cakes on small snacks. It can get busy but it is worth waiting for.

Had the pensioners special(even though not officially a pensioner I is over 60's, Small plate version of main meal), nice tasty food. 2 courses for £6.50 bargain. Very attentive staff and a friendly clientele.

Ordered a sausage butty and a latte as usual... asked for extra butter as I don't have sauce and the woman in the back that wasn't serving me jumped in and said extra what? So I repeated extra butter please and she said they are only supposed to put a certain amount on. Luckily the woman who was actually serving me ignored this pathetic statement and did give me extra butter.
