The Kings Arms in Oldham

I frequently visit the Kings Arms for their light launch. Lady night I went for dinner with my brother and his wife. Service was good, as always. The food was excellent - decent portions served hot and very tasty. The staff were happy to turn down the "music"; my brother and I are both deaf and loud music makes conversation difficult. (Why is it necessary to have music anyway?)

Great meal for four elder ladies. Prompt service from drinks orders to food. Waitress was friendly and attentive without rushing us in ordering. The Early Bird menu has a great choice of dishes and at £20 for three courses is good value. Food was delicious and well presented. We will definitely return.

Start with the positives lovely food at affordable prices. 1st time been here and probably wont be a 2nd. Half of the party running a little late so was told will have to give our table up we only have it for 2 hours, then felt a little rushed when ordering and as soon as dessert finished was told to move as the table was needed for next booking even though there was plenty of other tables about. The lady behind the bar was lovely and friendly. When we paid and left a nice tip no thankyou or anything just found some of the team aliite abrupt.

Was so looking forward to trying here as I've never been before on entering there is a terrible small from what I can only think of was the toilets the place was fairly busy with scruffy looking lads at the bar maybe just Finnished work dogs seemed to be aloud in covered in muck on to the food which was not bad to be fair you do have to wait the girls seem happy enough but then I had a encounter with some mad thing with blond hair I was standing at the bar waiting to order a drink as I couldn't get anyone's attention she was so rude just told me to move in a loud voice I was so embarrassed with people looking at me i just paid the bill and left we didn't even get desserts and i paid for them will not be going back EVER

Great pub, great beer, very important in a pub, great food, very important in a pub restaurant, great staff, very important for it all to work

What a great place. Not been for a while and definitely wasn't disappointed. We were welcomed very pleasantly and seated. Waitress introduced herself and promptly took our drink order, she advised that if I was going to have more than 2 glasses of wine then it's cheaper to buy a bottle then take the rest home. We were left adequate time to make our food choices. Staff are absolutely fantastic, totally got our sense of humour, Thankyou so much😃. Food service time was as expected, clearly fresh cooked, it was delicious and great portion sizes. Staff came out with desserts and 3 of them sang Happy Birthday ❤️ . Would I recommend?, ABSOLUTELY! We won't leave it long before we return.

A bit of a wait between course's but to be fair it was worth the wait... Really good pub grub 😃

Great bar/restaurant with amazing views

The food is good, plentiful, lots of choice and the staff are attentive friendly and helpful. The prices are also extremely competitive, and the atmosphere is lively but not too loud. Had a good night and came away really full. I am certain that you won't be disappointed.

Had to wait 25 minutes to order food, which was meh when it finally arrived. Then took another 30 mins after getting the bill to actually pay.

Restaurant was very busy on the Thursday lunchtime that I visited on. Had the light lunch menu, 3 courses £19, though 2 and 1 course are available starting at £11. We both had the salmon fishcakes and though their were three of them with some salad they were only small. Nice though Mains were chicken burger and fish and chips, my chicken was large and tasty, fries were a bit of a let down though. The fish and chips were great, big fish and chunky chips. Puddings were Eton Mess, thumbs up for that and the apple crumble. Good atmosphere with plenty of senior citizens in the restaurant, waitress service was very good, no long waits and they were friendly. Been here a few times at lunchtime and will visit again.

An absolutely lovely little pub in the country 😀 we're from London and I asked google for the best place for a roast dinner and it gave me this place The King's Arms ,so we went there it was lovely inside, the bar staff were very nice and helpful 😀 the service was great and it was fast too, the food was amazing 👏 🤩 the bar staff joking said to us that most people don't get to the final course of the Sunday dinner menu ( you can have 1 course for 15£ , 2 course for 20£ or 3 for 24£ ) so we went for the 3 course and it was fabulous 👌🏼 I had the homemade soup and hot bread roll ,and he had hot n spicy chicken wings which was soooo good and for our main we had shoulder of lamb with roast potatoes, mash potatoes, mixed veg, and a massive Yorkshire pudding 🍮 omg our mouths watered at this with mint sauce I couldn't ask for more 😀 and dessert was Eaton mess and I swear it was the best I've ever had 💯 I would 100% recommend it if ur ever in the area to definitely get down to the King's Arms ,you wont regret it 👑😋🫶🏼🤤

We love the King's Arms and visit fairly regularly. The Early Bird / lunch menu is exceptional value. Food was a little slow coming out, however that's not an issue when it's clearly freshly made. Would definitely recommend booking as always very busy.

Called in for a drink, great staff and good back ground music. The food looks great so next time we'll book and give it a try.

The food is always cooked to a very high standard. Staff work hard, very friendly and efficient. Never had a bad meal in this pub. Always busy, so best to book in advance. They do the best fish n chips and the pies and burgers are also v good. 👌 I wish they would out the belly pork starter back on the menu!! Hint! Hint!

Had bacon chop meal (sun 18h)the onion rings and pineapple were dripping grease when I "tried"eating them the plate had grease on underneath food...disgusted.My granddaughter s fish was over cooked if we had not made arrangement to meet my grandson we would not have stayed.Its a few years since I was in there it will be quite a few more before I do so again.As a matter of interest I worked in catering for a number of years,cooking and serving so I do know what I'm talking about....ps all the excess grease caused an upset stomach..my fault for attempting to eat meal

The food was delicious yet again. Doesn't matter when you go food always great. We had chicken and chirtzo wrap chips and salad.

Great place for really good food and very reasonable we ate off early bird had two starters two mains four drinks 43 quid can't go wrong oh and views to die for

My wife and I had a roast lamb Sunday lunch and a steak, after salmon & dill fishcakes with beautiful salads. A really fine meal, served by attentive and friendly staff. Many years since we went there- we'll be back again soon though !!

Excellent pub/restaurant, good food and always a nice atmosphere. Dog friendly areas both outside and inside too.

Food is fantastic, staff are great, come here regularly for meals. But THE MENS TOILET HASNT HAD A LOCK FOR 2 YEARS please this is such a simple thing to fix but it's an absolute nightmare if you need the loo, please just fix this it cannot cost more than a tenner

Called in yesterday with my friend on the off chance. Having already been previously we both knew we was having the Cheese and onion pie, certainly did not disappoint. Undecided on dessert however gave in and had the white chocolate toffee popcorn cheesecake ... absolutely delicious... never before have I left a dessert till yesterday, not due to not liking but as there was alot of it. If had a lighter meal this would if all been devoured.

What a lovely place celebrated my aunties 70th birthday had a meal for 8 of us and its got to one of the best meals we have had out in a long time. The staff sre amazing as well so accommodating and food is 5 star highly recommend

Food was lovely. We had a birthday family meal. 4 generations. The Kings Arms catered for a gluton intolerance, 1 x children's meal. Service was quick and friendly. We will be back. Nice meal for two this time. 3 courses all very good. Guinness and wine went down a treat in a lovely pub, friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

My favourite place for a Sunday dinner, the service is excellent, the food is fresh produce and absolutely delicious, the garlic mushrooms are amazing. The set menu is great value for a 3 course meal on a Sunday. Drinks are reasonable price, location of the pub is lovely set in the countryside side, the bar and restaurant its self is immaculate and clean. Definitely 1 of my best places for a Sunday dinner and it’s well worth a visit you will definitely want to go back. My advice book a table if going on a Sunday to avoid disappointment

Food good staff all had smile's on there face's and very pleasant

Chicken skewers, Pak choi and Thai green curry - quite spicy 🥵 Scampi and chips - very enjoyable Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream - what more can I say 👍🏻 Apple and pear crumble and custard - lovely

Main meal was full of oil. I complained and they still put it on my bill even though I didn’t eat it. I said I don’t want to pay for it they said I had to. Really big shame as the other staff were lovely.

Food not great. Service slow and unattentive. Took 20 minutes to get attention from 1 out of 3 members of staff just to order a glass of coke inbetween courses. Spuds were burnt with foil stuck to the bottom. Salmon very dry, left out under warmer. Unnaturally small chicken wings used for the starter. Must have got them from a Chernobyl chicken farmer on his uppers. Staff pleasant enough, not their fault entirely, but wouldn't return or recommend. Toilets are great but there's a bolt lock on the outside of the ladies door so just hope no comedian locks you in on the way out of the pub

Pleasant environment, nice and smiley staff, but, and it's a big but! Amazing food, and really good prices. We had a huge chicken burger, salad, coleslaw, 3 half's of bitter shandy, braised steak, mash peas and gravy, and I finished off with apple and peach crumble with custard, total cost £27. Two of us have had a bowl of soup, 2 coffees and not much more for £20+. We will be back and recommend you to try it. Large car park, outdoor eating and drinking area Nice country setting. Been back, just as nice.

Amazing food and service. 2 course early tea 5-6pm £16 attended friday night Starter … Bbq chicken wings - really succulent not dried up. Garlic creamy mushrooms.- would definitely have again. Main… Scampi , battered haddock both with home-made chips - both tasted very fresh. Staffed run-off their feet, but very attentive Would definitely be returning into this place again

Fabulous food could not fault the roast dinners,the lamb was perfectly cooked. The staff and service is outstanding.

Nice place to eat and have the odd pint. It's not bad priced as 2 pints of Guinness cost 8.80, where my local is near 10 quid. There are not enough tables to sit at if you're having a pint and a snack. We sat in a room with Not one table, only 8 wobbly pump up stools. They may be in the process of buying some tables, but it didn't feel homely where we were sat. But overall, it was a nice place to visit.

Mine and my wife’s favourite for lunch or a special occasion. The front of house is friendly and efficient backed up with fantastic tasting consistent good quality pub grub . Oh, what a treat. We visited on what we thought would be a busy Saturday afternoon. No reservations but we were seated immediately. The decor is pleasant and the place was kept at a nice temperature so we were comfortable throughout. Service was prompt and courteous. We were just getting to the point of asking where our food was as it came out. That will be complaint 1 of 2 very minor complaints. 2 of the 4 had starters. A cheesy garlic bread, and I had the garlic mushrooms... dracula no longer stands a chance near me. The garlic bread was truly excellent. It's amazing how most places can choose the wrong or poor bread on a dish with bread, this place did not suffer from this. My mushrooms came with some toast to dip in the sauce and silence befell me. It was delicious. Beautifully cooked and strong but not overpowering flavours. Mains were the salmon, some chicken and 2 burgers. Both burgers on brilliant buns. They weren't tight with the cheese and the chunky chips were to die for. We all ate with gusto then moved on to desserts. Which were a mistake as we were so full but sticky toffee pudding, Eaton mess and Apple crumble were all mercilessly devoured. Here's the second complaint. When we got the bill my son had ordered cheese and an egg on his burger. As stated earlier they weren't tight with the stuff but an extra pound each for the cheese and the egg is a bit of a pickle take if you catch my drift. Besides those 2 very very minor issues, the 4 of us were very happy and very well fed for "only" £106. That's coffee's, pepsi's and all 3 courses. I and my family would wholeheartedly recommend anybody to go here. It's definitely worth it!

The food was good and the service. A head torch would be useful at some of the darker tables. Wear some thermals if visiting during winter.

Ordered small fish and chips..... just the right size for us and very friendly, speedy service. It was a quiet lunchtime when we visited so don't know what it's like when busy.

6 of us went. Service very slow . Waited long time for starter then main. Fish overcooked . Be a while before go back

Always excellent food and service

We travelled some distance to the King's Arms after telephoning to enquire about the Friday fish and chips. The girl on the phone said the fish and chips are served all day, only to arrive there and told they stop serving at 3 pm and re start service at 5 pm , we was not informed this on the phone and has it was around 3.20 pm we was not prepared to wait around till 5 pm, total waste of a journey, think the girl in question needs a lesson on how to answer enquiries. It's really annoying.

Had q fantastic night, lots life food was fantastic. Bar staff proper! You will be well looked after at this pub.

First time here will call again food and service were all of good quality didn't have a drink so can't comment. Everything was well priced all in all well worth a visit.

Had Sunday Lunch with my son today. Excellent food, Great service. 10/10

We have eaten here numerous times throughout the last few months, and will continue to do so. We absolutely love the food, especially the Harbenaro Wings, not for the faint hearted though!

First visit. Very impressed. Picked Sunday lunch from the extensive menu. It was hot, delicious. Would definitely go back again at some point next year whilst visiting our granddaughter.

This is only a 15 minute drive and I can’t believe I’ve not been before. Went on Christmas Eve and service was good despite being busy, excellent food and at a decent price too. Will be back again soon.

Had a fabulous lunch today. Atmosphere only got three because it was a bit cold, everything else was just what was needed. I had my husband on crutches and the entrance was very slippery with the rubber ends so would recommend a mat at the front door. Thank you.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was tasty and well presented. Dad and I will definitely return to this local eatery.

Went here today to meet our daughter and her boyfriend for her birthday meal, decided to book here rather than go into Manchester as easy access of the motorway and dog friendly. We had booked a table but managed to snaffle a seating area by an open fire so stayed put for the meal which was really cosy and and roomy. My wife and I ordered the lamb which was fantastic large piece of shoulder of lamb that melted in the mouth complete with large roasters, and veg and home made Yorkshire pudding was fantastic if I'm being critical could have perhaps done with a bit more gravy (but I'm from Yorkshire!). Daughter and boyfriend had chicken breast which was also nice but for me the Lamb was much better. Then for pudding the home made apple and pear crumble with plenty of custard , portions were decent and it was delicious. Staff also very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return soon.

Waited a while for main. Food was ok a little dry and overcooked. Our waitress was pleasant but whilst drinking our coffees another waitress butted in our conversation and asked us to move because she had other customers! When we asked if we could just finish our coffee she implied I was being difficult. We asked her for the bill but she refused to bring it, twice we asked her but she ignored us. Felt very uncomfortable. Rude, impolite and very unprofessional!

My wife and daughter had the hotpot and thoughrily enjoyed it, I had fish and chips the batter was overdone for my taste and chips like Jenga blocks not happy.

Limited choice for vegetarians. Cheese and onion pie very dry. The chips were frozen and again very dry. The rest of the group enjoyed their food. Service was ok. At the end of the evening, they basically asked us to leave as the were shutting. It was a cold night, they shut the pub and we had to wait outside.

Food and service great as always. Still good value for money as well.
