We won't be returning. Maybe we went with the wrong expectations... There was play equipment for the kids, which is why we chose it... but the kids didn't seem welcome... Our kids can be lively at times... But weren't particularly so today and they were constantly monitored by members of staff... Left us feeling unwelcome. Food wasnt anything to write home qbout, and wasn't cheap, but was ample. Hey ho. Hopefully the next person will have a better experience.

I was going on to Cumnor Village Hall for Scottish Country Dancing at 2pm. They offer a two course Pensioner's lunch for £15 on a Wednesday. I booked in, and got to the pub. I had made a reconnaissance visit, and the man had given a very good impression on this visit. I felt the place had old fashioned virtues, and was well managed -as if he had been in the forces, or knew how to do things. The table had a table cloth. A chicken course and apple crumble were brought, and were what I wanted. It gave me great pleasure to be there. I went away feeling it was a good place to go to, and so I thoroughly recommend The Vine Pub, Cumnor.

Lovely local pub. Great food at a good price. I'm astonished that a few reviews here suggest that the staff are unfriendly; I've been going to the pub for several years, and they are not only charming but also popular with locals. I can only think that disgruntled customers are more likely to leave reviews than the many happy ones.

I only had one bitter shandy and my better half had a few glasses of wine. My drink took a long time to arrive?? from a different bar (out of sight) and was extremely flat. It felt like slops of old or perhaps very little lemonade? I didn't complain as I'd already had a bad day.

Didn’t have pretty much the only vegan item on the menu. The substitute had a long hair entangled in the salad. The southern fried chicken goujons were just tasteless deep fried chicken slices dripping in grease . Chips were nuked and the onion rings were also just dripping in grease. Big dead daddy long legs on the table aswell that we relocated to the shelf next to us. Nearly £50 for the pleasure , well overpriced for bland tasteless overcooked greasy food that made me feel quite sick! With all that said The waitress was lovely and very friendly.

10/10 Roast dinner. Been struggling to find a decent one recently but this was perfect! The cauliflower cheese was banging and I left the plate empty. I’m a big fan of the veg and find a lot of places don’t put enough on (the same with gravy), but I couldn’t fault the Vines. Dessert was also great, I had sticky toffee pudding. As a local resident who would dearly love a friendly, cosy, community based pub the Vine is a shambles. Hostile management/staff, average food, no quizzes, garden events, music. Ultra bright lighting in the main bar. I know many local friends wishing the pub would up its game, maybe ask locals for feedback, send us a questionnaire- you could improve SOOO much (and make a fortune in the process), but instead you plod on, changing chefs every once in a while. This pub is usually empty, which is no surprize at all. Such a shame!!!!!!!!

staff members VERY rude. this has been my local for 6 years and never have i ever been turned away and huffed at for asking for food after reserving a table online. my mother and father come in here regularly and are appalled by my recent visit to the vine.(they went in for a drink the same evening and got completely different treatment)me and my partner went into the vine at around 2pm on saturday 31st of july. myself who is 7 months pregnant booked into the vine online (which we never usually do , normally just walk in) for some lunch as i hadn’t eaten for a few hours after shopping and needed to sit down. we stop at the bar to ask for our table and we are huffed at as if it’s a chore to seat us , when asked if we were here for food or drink and we reply with food , we are again huffed at and told they can’t seat us - baring in mind there was about 4/5 empty tables and many tables empty outside as there was only 2 of us. not sure what the problem is as we were just stopping for lunch but absolutely appalled with the mannerism and attitude from this place. the vine used to be a lovely & very welcoming place but now you get made to feel annoying due to wanting some lunch at your local. i was also desperate for the toilet but after we were made to feel like we were irritating bar staff by asking for some food i didn’t feel comfortable asking to use the toilet , which being pregnant is very uncomfortable to hold in as the baby sits on my bladder. we also were made to feel uncomfortable by the food runners as they were staring quite unpleasantly at us - obviously annoyed that we wanted food and it was just too much of a chore for them. in future - if you don’t have tables , maybe politely ask us to leave rather than huffing and puffing through your teeth. hopefully this helps. thank you.

Rude, patronising, unfriendly, and thoroughly over the top with Covid restrictions, which is ironic given the landlady doesn't wear a mask.Service is dreadful, even though the pub was virtually empty, and one or both of the management always seem to be standing around smoking.About the only good thing is that the garden is rather nice, although they have fenced off the children's play area, stating Covid as the reason, although I have not seen any of the play equipment closed in any other pub.AVOID!
