Service-fine Plenty of choice including game. Food-good but why be mean with vegetables? Vegetables are not costly so more than potato plus one green would be better

We were a party of 15 for an 80th Birthday celebration on a Sunday afternoon. The food was very very good. Some had 2 courses and some had 3. All of the starters were lovely. Some of the party had traditional Sunday lunches and they were really impressed. Some of us had venison and duck off the specials board which were all cooked to perfection. The desserts were also lovely. Simon and the gang looked after us really well, checking on us to make sure everyone’s OK and we would highly recommend The Vine. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

I've been coming here all my life. It's a lovely, dog friendly inn, in the perfect location for food before or after walking Clent Hills. The staff are friendly and the menu is quite successfully varied with things like Fresh Fish, Korean Fried Chicken, and Game options being present alongside the staple pub foods like fish and chips; all to good quality. Not much of a drinks person so I can't comment there, but I'd be comfortable in recommending the Vine Inn to anyone who is local and/or planning a trip to Clent Hills!

Having read the mostly glowing reviews we scrolled down to see the 1 star review from January - we were so impressed with the well considered and articulate response from the “lad” that we just had to visit! We had a lovely visit to the Vine. Staff were friendly and welcoming. My friend is a wheelchair user and they spotted that we needed the side door opening, asking if we needed a ramp and making very little fuss to ensure that the seating at our table was right for us. We ordered two of the specials (local sausage and mash and duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes) and the creamy mushrooms with ciabatta starter. We then followed up with the burnt basque cheesecake - which we can attest to the fact that it is not dry and is perfectly delicious, especially the accompanying blueberry compote and crème fraiche. I enjoyed one of the cocktails from the specials board and the draughty cider and beer was lovely. Overall we have absolutely no complaints (apart from the weather which prevented us from enjoying the nice looking garden!) and are very happy that the other pub we tried first had no available tables. A quick note on access: the main door is up a step - get the staff’s attention to open the second flatter entrance door. The ladies toilets have two very small cubicles, one of which has a handrail, but would be too small to get a wheelchair inside. We didn’t check if there was a specific accessible toilet on the premises.

I have visited the Vine on many occasions and have always enjoyed the service, surroundings and importantly the food. I visited again this Tuesday evening with a friend and enjoyed the most delicious Duck meal I have had in recent times. The service was excellent and the only down note was that with the cooler nights it was a little chilly. But I have been in the winter with a roaring fire and this is just an observation as the temperatures fluctuate. This is an exceptional place to eat and a particular favourite. I eat at Himley, Whittington and in Kidderminster at the Land Oak. All are highly recommended - however this Tuesday the Vine gets 5 stars from me

I've been to this pub since I was a child. Not always on horseback, but many a time. The staff are fabulous and helpful. No problem with you parking your horse rather than car 😉 🐴 There's seating outside by the carpark and a little stream. The horses love having a munch of grass, and my friend and I enjoyed a well-earned drink. Please note - only sat on the horse for the pic without my riding hat. I always ride with safety equipment. My shirt is high visibility. The local residents are superb around the lanes with horses and following the highways code.

Only review this restaurant with praise but not criticism unless you wish to be threatened with legal action. Not that it is unreasonable to wait over forty minutes for a quality meal. I didn't eat because I wasn't prepared to wait but was offered a table by the blonde barman with a minimun forty minute wait time. Great country pub serving great quality food. They specialise in game and fish but a lot of the specials that I would probably have chosen had already sold out unfortunately. The roast beef was excellent however, medium rare as I had ordered. My wife also enjoyed the mussels which came as a big pot with fries and bread, french style. There is no kids menu but they will serve a smaller children’s portion for half the price of the adult version. I like this idea as I’m dead against the normal kids menu in a lot of pubs which can often just be selection of UPF! Would definitely return and hopefully the venison will be on next time!

Just the best country pub! We always come to The Vine for family meet ups. The staff are friendly, accommodating and efficient- the welcome is always warm, not least because of the cosy fires! The menu is quite simply superb! Lots of traditional options, excellent light bites and an ever changing specials board with some really interesting dishes. The food is always cooked to perfection, the staff will often warn you that there may be a bit of a wait if it’s busy - it’s worth it! The pub itself is a wonderful historic building with lots of trinkets from the past. There’s a dining side and a bar side. The bar is perfect post walk over Walton and Clent and is dog friendly. There’s a lovely outside area for the summer and I have also stopped by on horseback in the past. In summary, can’t speak highly enough of this pub - I only wish I lived closer!

Had pudding and the sticky toffee pudding was lovely and it came with a small jug of custard on the side which was a winner for me because I like a generous portion not some dollop on the side. Nice selection of gin which went down well. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend. I returned again last night 30/01/24. I had the best meal I think I have EVER eaten. The pear, stilton, caramalised onion and walnut soup was stunning. Then I had hake with green beans and potatoes. The hake had the minutes touch of chili, which was so good. It just complemented the fish and did not overwhelm it. The chefs were on fire. Just keep doing whatever you are doing. it was amazing. I returned to this local gem last night 18/04/23. The specials last night were Halibut, Loin of Hare and Duck breast. Any on them would have been great, but I went for the Halibut with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. The halibut was a decent sized piece and was lovely. My wife had Much Wenlock pork, garlic and mushroom sausages on mash with red cabbage. I tasted the the sausages, and they were superb. Another hit from this gorgeous gastropub. This is a family run pub. Food is of a very high standard. Game is on most menus. For the quality and range of food the price is very reasonable, good value for money,, and less than many other local pubs. I returned 25/11/22, and again the food at this gastro pub was great. I like eating game. I had a pigeon breast starter which was lovely and a haunch of venison main in a cherry jus which was also divine. My dining companions had monk fish "scampi" in an amazing light tempura type batter. That was also good++. This place just keeps delivering and has a very talented chef in the kitchen. 02/08/2021, I have returned again today and had wild boar fillet with grilled apple slices, mash with lovely pickled red cabbage and pureed peas and pea shoots. It was lovely It is family run. The other point is that it is cheaper than the M&B group type pubs who use ping and ding cooking (microwave). The Vine's food is way better and cheaper than high end M&B chain pubs food. Pls support this local gem.

Must have changed chef! Having eaten here lots of times this is the first time I was disappointed. It was a belated birthday lunch which made me not want to cause a fuss or complain on the day. I had the speciality pirk, mushroom and garlic sausages... 3 sausages no bigger than your little finger. All 3 were overcooked and tough, even burnt on 1 side. The mustard mash was hard and dry. The saving grace was the red cabbage and gravy, both delicious. My friends meals were ok, but the tandoori chicken was not tandoori. It was chicken tikka curry, with no rice even though it was very liquid with lots of sauce, served with a tiny naan bread. Her partner had ham and eggs his only complaint was the hard yolks. As ever the slow service was expected due to business being vey brisk but was very good. The drinks were top notch too. Its a shame this was such a disappointment as The vine is usually amazing. Lets hope it improves for my next visit.

We ate here on a Saturday evening recently, not having been here in a few years. We thought we’d give it a try, as decent places around here are few and far between. Our arrival wasn’t the best, more of a ‘what do you want’ type greeting by the lad behind the bar. We were made to wait until the booking time to be seated, odd as there was lots of availability on the website booking system. We were sat and ordered our food. Two of us had steaks, another had the fresh fish and lastly the monkfish. The steaks had all the classic signs of just being whipped out of the fridge, then cooked from chilled (1 medium, 1 medium rare). Big mistake, as the steaks became cold quickly, and they were very chewy and full of un-cooked grisle. Most of it was inedible. A steak cooked from room temperature has time to cook properly. The Turbot was smothered in garlic and swimming in butter. The advertised dauphinoise potatoes turned out to be just fried potato squares. The monkfish was odd – little pieces of fish, battered and fried, serviced with Cajun chips and a salad with olives, cheese, and sundried tomatoes? Not a good combination, and not one I would repeat. We had 2 desserts; one was advertised as burnt Basque vanilla cheesecake. It certainly was burnt, very bitter and not pleasant. The cheesecake tasted weeks old, all powdery and not good to eat. A smudge of strawberry squish on the side. The Vine is very ‘clicky’. A typical local pub, and in the 35 years I have been coming here it has not once changed, I don’t think it’s even had a lick of paint in all that time. Finally, we all spent time on the loo when we got home, I will spare you the details. This was easily one of the worst meals out locally in years; we will never return here and advise anyone else to be wary of going.

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch here yesterday. Food was excellent, staff friendly, don't expect fast food you have to wait while it's freshly cooked but worth it. Only downside was entering through the bar to the restaurant with a whiffy wet dog smell, but they...

We visited whilst walking in the Clent Hills. We had planned to visit having viewed the menu online but was tempted by the specials board. We shared a starter of Moules Mariniere from the specials menu which was delicious followed by the Venison Burger for my hubby (main menu) and I had the Duck breast, again from the Specials menu. Both our meals were outstanding. The quality of ingredients coupled with the skills of the chef made it the best meal of our holiday (and we'd had a few having been away a few weeks). The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. There was a great selection of drink especially real ales. Butty Bach was on when we visited but they also had Wainwrights. It was very quiet but it was a Tuesday lunchtime. The pub is quaint and traditional nestled in the Clent Hills. It is very dog friendly with water bowls and dog treats for pooches sitting in the bar area. There is also a large car park. We highly recommend The Vine and would like to thank the staff on that day for a great meal.

A very traditional inn with game / fish led menu. Nice open fires but lacks any real unique touches. Bread rolls with soup starters really tiny and disappointing, very average unfortunately.

Had a great lunch with friends here. The food was delicious, service was friendly and they were dog friendly too which was a great bonus for me as I brought my pup. Ample parking too. Just be careful of the narrow roads when driving. Can be tricky.

The food at The Vine never disappoints, reasonably priced and excellent service. Cosy with roaring fire in the winter months, the place is a little gem.

Awful! The worst fish and chip shop I have been to in a long while. Bought fish chips and curry. The fish was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside the chips were hard, bitty and few in number and the savoury curry was not nice and repeated on me for hours later, all in all an £11.70 expensive waste of money! Wish I had driven to Seavers.

The cafe is closed, this is now just a petrol station with a garage forecourt. Lorry park still open, charges £20 to park on a litter strewn yard, no showers and only one toilet in the garage which was dirty and had no paper when I called there. Owner rude and arrogant. Avoid unless you're absolutely desperate. There is space for a good thirty trucks there , there were about six when I visited which tells you everything you need to know.

Both bitters were off, some food was cold and undercooked, waitress very helpful, however let down by the kitchen staff.
