A couple of other recent reviews mention this is the ‘best’. I wholeheartedly agree. We had excellent, friendly and very prompt service. I felt that staff went out of their way to be helpful. (Service is so very important in my view). Our lunch was sandwiches/salad/coleslaw, all of which was superb. Great choice of breads and fillings. What a super little community café. We shall return.

Cakes looked lovely but didn’t try any , scrambled eggs watery and cold beans , tea so weak could not taste was like drinking hot water , improvements to be made , on the plus side the staff were lovely , could be a little gem of a place with a bit more effort

Would not recommend The Lounge as a place for adults only without kids. It’s very much a restaurant for pre-teens/children and is a modern atmosphere. The food is basic but up to good standard. Would also say times after school ends are busiest and definitely wouldn’t recommend going if you don’t like lots of noise!

Had a great cottage pie with root vegetables. Was provided with salad which really didn't go. A small plate if chips would be better. It did taste lovely. Great customer service and friendly atmosphere. Happy to recommend

We are a touring team of 28 U11’s players and their parent/guardians who were on tour to a Rugby Festival at Kings Norton Rhinos. We needed some packed lunch options for players and parents and could not find a local caterer in the area. I contacted the team via Facebook and quickly and efficiently they came back with options and prices and even offered to deliver pitch side for us at the festival we were attending - all planned in advance on a Sunday when they are usually closed. We were delighted with the food quality, the choice, the service, and the range they offered. As importantly we were also delighted that our commercial choice of partner put funds into a locally run venture in a local community. Great work team and thanks for all your help. We will use and recommend you again!

Great all day breakfasts. Plenty of other options and usually plenty of homemade cakes on offer. On a good day, if it's not too busy, they will let you take you pooch in with you as well.

I visited The Lounge with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago and we both had a delicious cooked breakfast - the food was cooked well, wasn't greasy at all and was sourced locally which is great! As I am quite a fussy eater I asked to have no mushrooms or tomatoes, to which the waiter said I could have an extra egg or piece of bacon, which was very kind of him! All of the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely and homely! Will definitely visit again.

This place has real personality (and a great breakfast) to it. It's a non-for-profit that puts everything back into the youth in the community. I'd fully recommend people to give it a try!

Second time we have visited, having asked for a reccomendation when visiting Alvechurch and this being reccomended as very relaxed. Service very friendly, quick & accurate if not necessarily slick (think cheerful 17 year old lads doing their best to not cause an explosion of smoothie with the blender) it's very endearing! Food is simple (Sandwiches, Jacket Potatoes etc..) but good ingredients & very well cooked, a sausage & egg sandwich sounds very simple but it's not always done very wellNice range of cakes and the chef is open to specific requests ie. Getting some gluten free bed from the coop next door. Good value I.e egg & veg sausage sandwich, kids jacket & salad, milk shake & Smoothie £8I have had a toddler in tow both times and there are a small selection of toys & clean toilets so very little person friendly.Would be nice to see a bit more info about the community projects the cafe supports, but that's probably me being too focused on the cakes.

Revisited with the grandchildren last week and was very pleased again. The little four year old had baked beans on toast which was served with the beans in a little soup cup and two pieces of lovely thick toast. The bacon sandwich had by my grandson was massive with loads of bacon inside. I knew straight away he would not be able to eat it all so took half home for his dad! Very much appreciated! The bread was large thick slices and very fresh. I had a sausage and fried egg sandwich. I had not realised that you now have to ask for the award winning sausages if that is what you want and there is an extra charge. I will remember next time as I just had the cheapo sausages.Lovely service from the young men on duty and very pleasant surroundings.

The Lounge has a great atmosphere, and with a revised selection of food, it's becoming a lot more that just a cafe.Having a full breakfast, I had to opt for one of the smaller varieties, so I could take away delicious homemade cakes for afterwards. Nothing is too much trouble, and the service was friendly and spot on. Being a community hub, means that any profit helps the local people in the village, so not only a great place to eat, but with a moral point too

Went into the lounge last weekend before we went off on our tour of the alvechurch gardens. My friend and I both had a full English breakfast. It was cooked beautifuly and well worth the extra fifty pence for the award winning sausage from the local butchers. I would recommend to anyone passing through to try this place which has a real good community feel to it. Thankyou the lounge

It was my first visit. I took my young grandchildren for lunch but they are regulars. They went straight for the computers which are available for customers' use. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. The menu has quite a good choice of dishes which are basics such as a fry-up, sandwiches, jackets, burgers, hot-dogs etc. I think there was some cakes as well.the sausages and bacon are award winning ones from the local butchers. Our food arrived pretty quickly and was nicely presented. The children enjoyed theirs and so did I. It was just a sausage and fried egg sandwich but served in lovely fresh bread. Very tasty. The lounge seems to be very popular with the locals, some of whom were calling in for sandwiches to take out.Prices were reasonable and the decor, being like an old-fashioned diner was very nice. I hope to revisit soon.

Had a well earned cooked breakfast here whilst passing through on the canals. We moored on a quiet stretch near the motorway as Alvechurch moorings were full. The village centre was just 20 mins walk away. It was clear to see what this venture offers the community, it had a great local atmosphere. My daughter bought a couple of knitted pin cushions for 50p in fact the lovely lady who makes them popped in and topped up with her wares during our visit.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome at this local not for profit cafe. I visit often but have decided to review now so that I can heartily recommend the full English Veggie breakfast. Cooked to perfection, including sausage, bacon, egg, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, tea and 2 rounds of toast - I was set up for the day.If you live in the area - give it a try and be satisfied to know that all profits are ploughed back into youth and community activities

Lets start off by stating what this isn't. it's not a fancy Bristro where the food comes on a fancy plate, with some pretty sauce drizzled over the top and the prices to match. What you get here is good, honest food served by friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere where you don't have to worry if your kids have the fidgets and you're not in your Sunday best. The food is locally sourced, with the sausages coming from the multi-award winning Crowes butchers, just around the corner. The best part of this is the fact it is a local charity where all the profits are reinvested into the local youth, even the venue doubles up as a youth drop in on some nights of the week.If you're in Alvechurch and they are open, drop in and have a bite to eat, knowing you can get over the guilty feeling of tucking into a bacon and sausage butty by knowing you are doing your bit to help out.

The Lounge is a wonderful example of a community Cafe which serves the most superb breakfasts, lunches, cakes and drinks with everything freshly cooked using produce from local suppliers (village butchers, greengrocers, bakers etc). And not only is the food simply the best in the village, but every purchase made in this 'not for profit' cafe helps to support local youth Work in the village, and also wider community projects via ACT (Alvechurch Communities Together). What could be better?

You will not be disappointed with this cafe. It is a charity project for the youth and community of Alvechurch and surrounding areas. You will always receive a warm welcome. There is the added bonus of free wifi too. The food is locally sourced and the meals are well prepared and tasty. What's more, they are excellent value for money. There's little to add other than to say that I am well chuffed for it to be located in the village where I live.

We always try to support The Lounge because of the great food, and the excellent work that it does. Open in the mornings and early afternoons, we go in often for a delicious bacon sandwich, or full English breakfast, if later, a coffee and homemade cake, or lunch sometimes. If you want your bacon sandwich on brown bread and they don't have any, they will pop into the Coop and get some. The food is cooked on demand using local produce. The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. In addition to the food, they provide internet café function, and a play area for the children. The money raised by the café supports the youth facility the café provides in the evening. In warm weather there is an outside area to sit and watch the world go by.Highly recommended.

The cafe is closed, this is now just a petrol station with a garage forecourt. Lorry park still open, charges £20 to park on a litter strewn yard, no showers and only one toilet in the garage which was dirty and had no paper when I called there. Owner rude and arrogant. Avoid unless you're absolutely desperate. There is space for a good thirty trucks there , there were about six when I visited which tells you everything you need to know.

Awful! The worst fish and chip shop I have been to in a long while. Bought fish chips and curry. The fish was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside the chips were hard, bitty and few in number and the savoury curry was not nice and repeated on me for hours later, all in all an £11.70 expensive waste of money! Wish I had driven to Seavers.
