Unfortunately, There are very few pubs like this one left. It’s a real pub with real characters - and it hasn’t been titivated up and sanitised to please the masses. It may be a bit rough around the edges but this adds to its charm. We have been here on a few occasions as we visit the area regularly. Once when we called in, there was a retirement do for one of the locals who worked at the dockyard. We were made to feel very welcome and included in the local banter. On another occasion, there was a wake - again everyone was extremely hospitable. We got chatting to the ex-husband of the woman who’d died, he was there with his new wife, both very well-oiled - and tattooed - he said that although he couldn’t stand his ex, he still wanted to give her a good send off! I have been to many pubs over the years, but I will not forget this one - long may it last.

A small local pub by the Cremyll Ferry. We were greeted by a very large but friendly dog. Friendly barman and beer kept well.

Not visited for a while but did enjoy a game of darts and pool and a couple of gin and tonics. Had a great afternoon of gaming entertainment. Just an old fashioned pub with friendly staff.

I visit this pub quite often especially if I have to catch the Cremyll ferry. I always get a friendly welcome from the manager and bar staff and the service is always swift and efficient. It is a good old fashioned no-frills pub where the beer is always good.

Stumbled across this pub on route to a restaurant in the area. Really friendly locals, smashing greeting by the bar lady and great to have some loud music on the jukebox. Yes..its not plush (by any stretch!) but its a decent place for a few beers and a good time.

Run down and smells musty. I went for a meal and pint and the company was awful. I chose not to eat and drink there. Run down and in need of some attention. Nice dog though but it is a shame. Sorry but this corner pub is not somewhere I would recommend.

I absolutely loved this old pub. As soon as I saw the battle-scarred and hung-over old landlord smoking on the doorstep I knew I was going to love it. Craig is not that old really but he is well-worn. The lines of his face tell a story without you asking, but ask and he will tell you. He's an ex-marine and a man of many adventures. Inside you are greeted by the pub dog - an enormous German Shepherd. He looks fierce but is in fact gentle and friendly (like Craig I suppose). Craig told us over pints of Guinness (very well served) that he 'recently' commanded one of a fleet of landing craft during the filming of Private Ryan. He has lost all sense of time and he is the better for it. Twice when we passed the pub during the week it was not open on time, but finally we found it open early. We guessed that it is a matter of how Craig is feeling each day. Or perhaps his locals (who make up 99% of his custom it seems) just knock the door when they want him to open. The conversation in The Vine was great and so was the beer. We were treated to a hilarious sideshow of Craig on the phone to his beer supplier (he is a Freehouse) trying to negotiate deals in a halfhearted manner. In the end he simply said "Oh f*** it send me what you've got!" There is other entertainment to be had. Two of his regulars, an older couple (as most of them are) had brought their equally ageing camper-van and parked it on the doorstep. At some point the old lady downed her cherry brandy and announced she was off to have a lie-down for the afternoon. Judging by the response of the others this is a regular occurrence. The pub is well located next to the little ferry stage and adjacent to an excellent greasy-spoon type (but spotlessly clean) cafe which does good breakfasts. Go here for some local colour and a good pint of Guinness. Toilets are old but clean and they do food (curry etc) sometimes. The doggy aroma comes free! Highly recommended. I wish I had a pub like this local to me.

We were thrilled to stumble on the Vine whilst we waited for the ferry back to Cremyll. The place is so welcoming, without being over the top, that we missed three or four sailings...so stumbled even more so when we finally did leave! It's a small place with interesting and amusing pictures, newspapers and books. And the gorgeous and very friendly German Shepherd had the biggest ears I had ever seen! I didn't know that food was served here, so we didn't ask.

Bit of a locals' pub marked lightheartedly as the first and last pub in Devon because it is just short of the Cremyll passenger ferry which leaves from Admirals' Hard 20m down the road for plymouth people using Mount Edgecumbe Park or kids commuting in to plymouth Schools. Passable but unexciting functional pub. Quite small inside but a safe bet if you are parched. Never thought to eat here.

A small quaint pub that serves traditional pub grub and good beer that the local fishermen and boatmen use. Don't be put off by a slightly shabby exterior as inside is full of interesting memorabilia including an aerial photograph of Plymouth taken by the Luftwaffe during the 39-45 disagreement. Craig the landlord is a mine of local historical facts about the pub and the local area and his dog Billy is quite friendly - but big! The locals are very friendly too. The pedestrian Ferry from Cremyll, just across the River Tamar, lands its passengers just a few yards down the Admiral's Hard from the pub so you can watch all the visitors arrive or depart. Well worth a visit if you are using the ferry.

Over 2 hours for delivery of 4 dishes. I could have walked the 2 miles there, ordered it and walked back in half the time. Poor. Update. Delivered wrong main dish, offered a free dish next time, which we refused. They did deliver the correct item 25 minutes later which made it close to 3 hours before my wife was able to eat. Shame because the food was good, however I won’t use again.

The best takeaway we’ve ever had. It’s now our takeaway of choice. The sag aloo is sublime. Bengal curry is fantastic. Really happy service too. Think they are great

I have had donuts, coffee etc from this little food hall, great friendly staff and loads of choice. I had an egg and bacon bap this morn which I enjoyed but could with the egg being runny and whites of egg not burnt and bacon slightly more cooked but still enjoyed it. From the looks of the egg white the pan needs cleaning more. Still enjoyed though, but egg should b runny
