The Villager in Tonbridge and Malling

A group of 15 of us booked in for 8:30pm on a Thursday evening, which is after the kitchen normally shuts. However, Jade, the manageress, was very agreeable to cater for us at that time, and the staff looked after us very well. Jade’s tasty food was scoffed by the hungry diners, and all seemed pleased with their evening. The Vegetable Curry was a great hit.

We stopped off after a walk on the Downs. Great food. Freshly prepared and served by manager. Excellent value for money.

We came here for a meal on our wedding anniversary. The pub/restaurant is situated in a little village location, on arrival we were greeted by very pleasant, welcoming staff. There was a good selection of choice on the menu and they also stocked one of my favourite gins which is always a plus! The food was lovely, everything meant to be hot was piping hot. The haddock soup was delicious and the sea bass was perfectly cooked. We were attended to by Alison for the evening who looked after us extremely well. Thank you again Alison. At one point the chef and manager popped out to say hello and asked how things were which is not something that happens often in any restaurant. We thought it was a nice touch which enhanced the customer focused attitude that was already evident. We would absolutely recommend this pub/restaurant from our experience and we will definitely come back again.

Me and my 5 friends decided to try this place for Sunday lunch and we was all blown away by the quality of the food and within 20minutes we had our food. The calamari starter was so tasty and fresh. The beef roast was to die for and we didn’t even need to ask for extra gravy it was brought out to us before we stuck in! We will definitely be back!

It's a while since we last ate at the Villager and since our last visit they have opened a really atmospheric dining room. We were with a large group but the food was all excellent quality, hot and served on time. Customer service was excellent also. We were very impressed. A good choice of real ales and wines at reasonable prices. Will definitely return.

Lovely Christmas meal for the family. It was 9 courses and really great value for money. Lovely atmosphere and really nice staff. All facilities were incredibly clean and we will definitely be visiting again

Why spend £35 on a Domino's takeaway, where you eat half, feel sick, and have to wash it down with luke warm coke, when you have a gem like this on your doorstep. I took the family in here on the off chance after a walk around the local woods. Getting some hunger (and sheer thirst) pains we spotted this pub from afar. We walked in expecting the worst to be greeted by a tastefully decorated establishment with some intriguing garlic esque smells emanating from the back room. We ordered our drinks, some amazing local ales on cask, quality juices for the children, and enquired about what was making my nostrils salivate (it's a thing I tell you). Turns out there is a new pizza oven out the back in the restaurant and they were making someone some cheesy garlic bread. Now this piqued some interest? Who doesn't want a pint of Perry Street Pale and a pizza? The pizzas came and I can tell you now that it didn't disappoint. Authentic tasting crispy thin dough with some flavoursome toppings. The kids devoured the peperoni like we hadn't fed them in a few weeks, and our margherita was gone before I was even half way through the first pint. If you like pizza. And you like beer. Please pay a visit to the Villager. An absolute gem.

We actually called the pub to see when the latest time they were serving food until which they said they stop serving just before 5 no mention that we had to book so we got there at 16.15 to be told they were not serving any more food not only were they not serving food they were so rude about it had only just started going there having not long moved in the area but we will not be going again

We had a lovely lunch today here. Food lovely and hot staff very good well set out dining area. Inside and out. In a nice area for a walk and dog friendly. Will visit again.

We went for an impromptu family meal with the children on Friday 13th May. Reviews looked great and the visit did not disappoint. Wonderful food, great portions and choice, excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. You have to try their onion rings! 😋

As you will see by my profile, I’m no stranger to reviewing. This venue, very very rarely, produced roast beef as rare as I love it. The king prawn provencale were delicious. Moving on to the main we both had the roast beef, each presented to our preference of cookery. Each element was perfect in cookery and presentation. Dessert, whilst almost full was absolutely necessary! Massively conflicted by too many choices I love but opted for the Eton mess, with Eton mess ice cream and a home made coulis. Every element is clearly home made to an exceptional quality.staff attentive and unrushed Well worth the visit. Strongly recommend you book. Ps Toilets clean and well presented too

Great food in front of a lovely fire. Friendly staff. We will return very soon. Huge very reasonable priced meals. Dog loves the carpet by the fire.

We had a very nice meal in the restaurant side of the pub which has been totally revamped and is very pleasant. The food and wine were beautiful. They have a Sunday lunch and kids menu too so we will definitely be back. I know that the couple that run it now have a very solid background in the trade and it clearly shows.

Family came to visit from Essex and had a really beautiful meal, staff very efficient and lovely, will definitely be returning to sample other stuff on the menu, everything cooked to perfection.

We recently visited family and went for dinner at this friendly pub. We sat in the restaurant area. The service was great and food was beautiful. We would definitely go back.

Great Meal fantastic selection and staff were very attentive. It was extremely clean . It was my first experience back into a restaurant and they really helped with ensuring safety and making sure we were all ok .We ate in the new restaurant all with different tastes but they didn’t let us down The whole experience was excellent from booking to leaving Highly Recommend let’s hope the village keeps this lovely pub/ restaurant

Been recently refurbished and truly nicely done and do such lovely food, friendly service. Will definitely be going back.

We went with our club to lunch this week.we had a roast dinner & sweet.The staff were great and nothing was to much trouble. Give the place a try 12.50 2 courses.

Although living locally I had not visited this pub for about 4 years. Last weekend we decided to walk down and have a look as we heard it was under new management. Very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere and decoration are good with comfortable armchairs and a blazing log fire.This only improved when I saw their Ale selection. 4 excellent beers on draught including my favourite, Betty Stoggs. We will return shortly with family and try the food but I am very hopeful.

As the pub has recently been refurbished and is now serving food throughout the week we decided to give it a try. We chose their recently introduced Steak Night - Sirloin or Rump steak with all the trimmings plus a bottle of wine - £34.95 for two! The quality of the whole meal was exceptional and the steaks were two of the best we have tasted for a long while. Service was excellent and we really like the new decor. Definitely worth a visit. They also do Curry nights and are gaining a reputation for Sunday lunches - see another review.

Having just completed a refurb, this pub come restaurant had definitely improved an enormous amount! Having drunk here during the old regime where it was friendly enough for a regular drink but never ate here, we've now been for Sunday lunch and it was awesome!Great choice on the menu, good food served and portion size was great. Lovely choice of gins. Very friendly, lovely bar staff, huge improvement and will definitely be visiting again

Was driving through Vigo one evening, and saw this hidden gem on my right... So worth pulling over for a pint! I believe I was in the back bar of the pub and immediately greeted with friendly locals and the song, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. Was a great vibe.A real mix of culture and personalities. Some people were working on laptops and sharing statistics of sporting performances to other locals. One local giggled to himself every time a ball went into a pocket in pool. On chap was practicing darts left handed as he could no longer accurately throw right handed. Another fella was, and I quote, “shadow batting” in the corner. It got very lively in the evening and the bar staff were very polite in dealing with customers, as one chaps asked “do you do extras”. As one lad put 50p in the jukebox and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” came on for the 7th time in the 45 minutes I was there, I decided to call it a night and all locals were very pleasant in their goodbyes.Will define you return again.

We stopped for a drink towards the end of a sixteen mile walk. The barmaid obviously recognised the signs, and served us extremely promptly. All I wanted was a coffee, but she offered me the choice of a cup or mug, showing me the sizes so that I could better make my choice. Not only that, but she insisted that I go and sit down, and she brought my coffee out to our table when it was made. And she gave me two biscuits!

Ella nos daba más comida porque habíamos estado caminando un largo camino y había construido un hambre. Ella fue muy amable y nos ofreció ninguna comida que habíamos pedido y ella incluso nos preguntó si queríamos llenar nuestras botellas de agua antes de que nos fuéramos a continuar nuestra caminata.Debe visitar este pub. Local pub really enhanced by excellent Thai food.Fabulous flavours and quite a range on the menu.If you like Thai food this is very good but portions could be larger. Cheaper than high street restaurants. Recommended. Check opening nights as may be limited to Friday/ Saturday.

El restaurante pequeño (capacidad para 20 personas) está escondido en la parte del bar y se siente bastante aislada. La comida es auténtica cocina tailandesa y calidad excepcionalmente buena. Las porciones no son enormes, así que aquellos con un gran apetito de mayo deseo compartir un extra de plato principal. El menú tiene carne, pescado y platos vegetarianos y símbolos chili así que saben lo que están recibiendo en! Este es un ambiente de pub, así que no esperes el ínfulas y adorna de un restaurante de mercado - es honesto comida de buena calidad a un buen precio. La cerveza es buena!

Comimos aquí el domingo. Una pequeña zona de comedor - tal vez media docena mesas - y muy cómodo, relajado y acogedor.
