This small village shop is amazing! We stopped for a drink and cake before a walk and came away with some great second hand books, a good pair of gloves and a feeling of being in a really friendly place! The staff are lovely - mostly volunteers I think - and the prices are similar to other supermarkets. If you visit the area, please visit and support this gem of a shop!!

Whilst out on a walk we tried to stop at the Red Lion however we were turned away due to being with a child. We were starving and had walked 8 miles and went into the the shop for a hot drink to decide where to go to eat. When we walked into the shop the Lady who greeted us was so helpful, she offered us a table inside and helped us to make our own indoor picnic. The food in the store was lovely and all was local and amazing. The homemade cakes are especially a treat and I would definitely recommend anyone to try them. We stayed in the shop for 45 minutes and had a great conversation with the lady about the local area and learnt a lot more about our stay. The shop is by far a great asset to the local area. Thank you for your help and cheering us up after our frustration at our plans being ruined and giving us Brilliant service

Visited to use the shop. This is a community shop run by volunteers, so the selection of items is limited. However they are very helpful and will order in things if they don't stock them. Small Post Office here too that is generally open in the mornings.

We were visiting the area, out for a walk and looking for a coffee and cake stop. In our home area we know the coffee stops and can easily tailor our walks and runs with a pitstop in mind. The village shop is a community run post office shop and cafe. The cakes were top notch and could grace any eatery, a selection of tea coffee and shop drinks to choose from. A great little place an oasis in an increasingly bleak landscape for small shops in rural communities.

Having got lost on our walk, neglected to bring any supplies, we detoured to this wonderful community shop. We could rest our weary limbs, quench our thirst with tea and savour wonderful banana, cranberry and walnut cake. Now, that cake may not be nectar from the Gods, but it came somewhere close. Long may it continue. Use it, or lose it.

This is the only shop in the village! It is run by a rota system of volunteers without whom, I suspect, this essential part of village life would 'founder'! A newspaper was ordered for us daily although they are not newsagents. A post office counter operates for 2 days of the week and the shop is also a tea coffee and cake shop in addition to selling a selection of essential groceries. We enjoyed tea, coffee and cake here in addition to village chat. It is a testament to the tenacity of the villagers of this small derbyshire village that this essential shop survives. I take my hat off to them!!

We visited here at the start of our walk and bought homemade Eccles cakes & fruit & seed flapjack for our walk. The choice of cakes made it difficult to choose. Both cakes were absolutely delicious. The lady behind the counter was very friendly. They also serve hot & cold drinks if you want to eat there. It’s a community based shop/ cafe so great to support the locals. Highly recommended

We stopped off here on a bike ride last week, the coffee and cakes (raspberry & pistachio for me!) were amazing. We had a chat with the local community treasurer, this shop supports local playgroups etc, sadly this cafe has had very poor trade this year due to the weather. If your ever nearby this lovely village make this your cafe! Treat yourselves and support the community

A super community shop run by friendly volunteers. They have most of the basics that you need to get you started for your holiday etc. Note that they close at 4pm on Saturdays so if you are arriving for a 3pm check in, get to the shop ASAP. They also only take cash.

We came the other week for a walk and we'd forgotten to pack Our gloves. Although we didn't think we would need them. The shop was a lifesaver with a basket of magic gloves at only just a pound. It is really nice to see these local shops keep on running and let's hope it continues.

Stopped off here on a long bike ride. The shop is small and doesn't really have any indoor seating, so they have tables and chairs outside on the village green. For £2 I got a big homemade chocolate brownie and a pot of tea from which I must have had at least 3 or 4 cups from! The staff were lovely and down to earth. The range of food and drink is very limited but if you want a snack and a refreshing drink without paying gastro-pub prices, come here. The countryside is stunning too.

Recently had a brilliant stay at Crina Bottom B&B at the foot of Ingleborough (one of the 3 peaks). It is entirely off-grid but the owners have done a terrific job in making the property comfortable, clean and very attractive. The bedrooms have been furbished to a high standard and you are guaranteed a sound sleep. The en-suites are large and are like those found in a good 5 star hotel. The chef produces great breakfasts which are substantial enough to set you up for the day ahead. I would thoroughly recommend this superb B&B

This place is in a beautiful location. After a hard day cycling, we we had run out of water and food. Although the tea-room was closed we asked if our water bottles could be topped up. The lady who owns the place was busy but she could not have been more kind and helpful. She brought us delicious home-made chocolate cake and filter coffee and stayed for a chat. Absolutely amazing customer service and saved us that day! Thank you!

Any time this place is open, do take the chance to pop in for a drink, snack or meal....a very friendly place with a good choice (including vegetarian) on the menu; the family team are happy to speedily prepare and serve just what you order in a quirky, well presented small cafe. Excellent value, quality food!

What a lovely quirky cafe. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. We had hot chocolate and scones with jam and cream and both the drink and scones were delicious. Best hot chocolate drink we have tasted and in a nice large cup too. There was lots of cakes to choose from and they all looked delicious. We will definitely return for lunch as the menu was very appetising.
