Called in for Sunday lunch. The most unappetising meal I have ever been offered. I ordered chicken breast in a peppercorn sauce. The plate arrived and I immediately noticed the frozen packet veg, the chicken was in a separate dish - all chopped up, mixed with the sauce. It had obviously been cooked beforehand and just warmed up as it was very stringy. It came with dark skinned whole potatoes which looked like they hadn't been washed with separate individual portions of butter. I tried, but the peppered sauce it was so, so hot I could only eat a couple of mouthfuls, my friend also tried it and she agreed. In the end I swapped it with my husband's roast beef as he can eat anything hot and spicy! I ploughed my way through the - not so tender beef and hard sweetcorn but mentioned it to the waitress who agreed that the chicken was far too hot for her too! I enjoyed the "bought in" sticky toffee pudding but will not be returning and would not recommend.

We've been coming to this pub for a good few years as have our caravan locally. Carol and Paul who ran it until recently we're absolutely lovely hosts serving great food, as most people, we were unsure how it would be under the new owners. We went last night for a meal, Sarah the landlady was very friendly and welcoming, as we're all the staff, the food was absolutely delicious and it was great to see and chat to Tracy who's been there years.

Its a little way out, right next to the river. Dogs welcome. Food, which I understand was prepared by the lady of the house was really, really good. Both of us had steak, one with veg the other with salad and it was the best cooked steak I have ever had. Unfortunately it was beaten by the sticky toffee pudding for desert, which was the absolutely best I have ever tasted and I have tasted quite a few. We all left with full tummies and a promise of returning the next time we are close by. Well done to the owners you do an absolutely fantastic job as hosts.

*You’ve only gone and done it!* You’ve officially created *the* best Amaretto coffee I’ve ever tasted. I’d say the best in the world, but not having tried every coffee in the known universe (I’m trying), I can’t realistically confirm this. I do however suspect that it’s unsurpassable. I previously ordered a mocha and a hot chocolate to go from here, which were both very nice but not necessarily out of this world. I don’t order beans at the time, but the staff were so pleasant and friendly and the shop was so nice that I decided to return. I’m an absolute fiend for marzipan, cherries, almonds and amaretto flavours of any kind (I almost perished out of sheer delight when I first tasted Opies amaretto cherries), so I had to try the Amaretto Royale coffee beans. I was not expecting it to be so fragrant, honestly, it would work as a car air freshener if you left the bag open and smells like the best Battenberg cake you’ve ever had. As soon as I got home I brewed it - pour-over as I wasn’t sure if the moka pot would bring out the flavour as well. It made the whole kitchen smell delicious, and I thought it would never be able to taste as good as that scent. I was wrong! You get the beautiful coffee notes and then a gorgeous rush of Amaretto flavour afterwards. I couldn’t be more impressed, and I doubt that I’ll ever be without this coffee now. It’s absolutely perfect, like adding a flavoured syrup to your brew but without the cloying sweetness. I also bought some Colombian coffee bags, and I will update when I try them. I have no doubt that’ll be every bit as delicious as the Amaretto beans. I can’t wait to try every flavour in your shop! Update: Colombian coffee also delicious! Went back to grab some new flavours and remembered to take photos.
