Six of us went for lunch had the 2 cource meal for was served quickly it was piping hot and beautifully cooked . Service was great. Will go again. M Hele and friends.

Amazing place for seafood! Portions were super generous and delicious and our waitress, Nikki, was absolutely lovely, helpful and diligent. 10/10 will visit again !

Always too crowded. There is never enough space between tables. The food is ok and there are lots of seafood options but it’s nothing special. The staff always hurry the customer

I'm not one to leave reviews often, but I was blown away by this place, and had to share it. Simply, if you're in Plymouth and want some high quality local catch, you MUST come here. I can't recommend it enough!

Went for my sons birthday food was great bit a tad salty and I like salt , the tall waitress was stern/ moody no smiles we felt uncomfortable such a shame as it let's the experience down the lovely blonde waitress was lovely so made up for it but if I had a complaint to make it wouldn't be about the food but the waitress sorry !!!

Ghastly food. Microwaved moussaka and incredibly rude staff when my wife returned the moussaka. Waitress became stroppy and rude and initially refused to remove from the bill. Avoid.

Lovely food in a friendly atmosphere.

Out with friends on entering the restaurant we were shown our table . Drinks menu came out when I asked if the Mythos was a pint or bottle a pint was the reply !! A bottle was what I got !! I ordered Mousaka with salad & side order of chips my meal came out but no chips then i was told the chips on the table have to be shared 🤷‍♂️ The Mousaka was dry & burnt on the bottom not what I expected from supposedly the best restaurant on the Barbican !!

Really good food, lots of choice, great price (£14.95 for two course lunch), friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back and will also recommend to friends.

Rushed, cold not what we ordered! We arrived a bit late. Table wasn't ready. We were seated, but everyone is packed in like sardines. My husband ordered kleftico which came out as a lamb steak with unpleasant gravy and I had a bland mushroom stroganoff. If you are running low on ingredients then take it off the menu and dont try to sell it as something else at the same price. We left a tip as we felt obliged to by the staff who were leaving and told us so! I doubt we will return as it was rushed, overpriced and not very tasty.

We were looking forward to a lovely meal with friends at The Village! We arrived a tad late (5 minutes) for our table which I think was given to someone else so we were stood in the middle of the restaurant waiting for a table. Once seated after a few brusk "your table is nearly ready" remarks we were seated. Our drinks order was taken as was the meal but it was very quick and we felt rushed. I had a mushroom stroganoff which was bland and my husband had a lamb kleftico which was nothing of the sort ( they must have ran out) he was given a lamb steak with an unpleasant gravy! All it all a rather unpleasant experience we won't be rushing back. Rude staff who decided to tell us all when they were leaving ( probably for a tip) ! We left a tip but it is an overpriced over rated restaurant! I think it is busy with regular customers all packed in like sardines. You cannot speak or move without the table next to you hearing or feeling you move the table as they go past. Surely this is not what it has come to on a Saturday night out In Plymouth? I have lived and dined out hear all my married life and was sadly disappointed with the food on offer this evening. They were running low on ingredients and you could tell as the food was rubbish. Oh well it is what it is, another once good restaurant off our list! Plus no napkins and unclean cutlery or menus.....we borrowed them from another table!!! Should be better!

We had past this restaurant earlier and decided to book for 8pm as it seemed busy so a good sign in our book. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table it was a little cramped with everyone around and try offered us another table which was much better and more room. We were given drinks and food menus to browse. Orders taken very swiftly wine prices very fair and nice wines as well. Starters arrived and a larger portion than we thought and excellent. We had a short wait for our main which was great main was delicious and the service throughout was impeccable we could have not asked for more our whole evening was great and would definitely recommend and will be back. Thank you to all the staff we had a wonderful evening in your restaurant.

There is no place in plymouth quite like the village restaurant. Been here quite a few times The food is very fresh and so tasty . The staff are so welcoming such a lovely place to dine in . #5star ##HappyCustomers

Absolutely stunning food/lovely staff and service

Lamb cutlets with chip shop style chips very nice but the other half had the vegetable pasta and although the portion was great it was nothing special and left us a little bit disappointed. Great service though however when busy this place can feel rather claustrophobic

Went for a wedding anniversary meal, it was delicious. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was fresh, hot and was presented beautifully. Really one of the true gems Plymouth has to offer if you want a fantastic dining experience.

3rd visit each time ordering a sirloin steak , on 1st 2 visit the steak was beautiful left nothing but on the 3rd visit full of fat and unknowable. After saying the Manager was uninterested so won't be going back again now ! 😒

Visited the area seeing family and I can honestly say the food was outstanding, superb value and great location. When we next visit we will be back

The Barbican Plymouth has a great many restaurants to choose from. We live in the city and have eaten at most of them over the years. We think that the Village is the best for quality and value. Fantastic local food, huge portions and best value for money by far. Also probably the best Tiramisu in Plymouth.

Well priced with big portions, worth making a reservation though as it can get busy.

This little restaurant is fantastic.I have eaten in hundreds different places around the world and this is up there with the best. The seafood thermador was fantastic, sevice was great as well, and for the quality of the food very reasonably priced

What a place. It's cosy and a little snug but after a while you don't even notice. At first looking at the menu things can look pricey but trust me you get your money's worth. Look out for the special set menu. I had Garlic Mushrooms starter and Mussel and Calamari pasta. I was served a delicious plate of mushrooms. Not 5 or 6 but around 25 in a tasty garlic and buttery sauce. Then came the large bowl of pasta packed with mussels and calamari. The sauce was a tasty tomato sauce. More food than I could handle. There were 7 of us and I would describe us as foodies, we love a good restaurant. We all agreed this could very well be the best restaurant in Plymouth. Note, the word is out on this place so best to book in advance.

This is the first time that I have visited the restaurant and I can fully recommend it had an excellent meal and service thank you all staff.

Found the village restaurant by walking around the harbour looking for a place to eat, noticed how busy it was so tried our luck on getting a table without booking. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great, will definitely go back whenever in plymouth.

What a find, wondering around looking for a place to eat and found this place, going to be a must visit on our return.

Good service, great location , but actuslly the food was pretty basic. Fish pie was obviously heated up in a microwave and tastes like it was fron lidl or aldi. The chef needs to up their game!

This place just looked cosy from the outside and it was on the inside too. Very busy with lovely staff. My husband had fish and chips which was lovely, the batter so tasty and light. I had sea bass with chips and peas, the fish was so fresh and full of flavour. Very impressed!

Good price, huge portion. No regret to me to have dinner here.

Visited The Village yesterday for a meal with my husband and father, it was absolutely wonderful!! I can’t believe we have never tried it before, it was definitely the best food we have ever had on the Barbican. The staff were really friendly and attentive and we are very much looking forward to returning. My husband had the cold seafood platter and it was amazing and great value for money. He actually had a seafood platter at The Harbour on the Barbican the week before which cost £30 and it was absolute rubbish! So he was extra delighted when his dish arrived presented beautifully and tasting equally as good. I had the Moules and the sauce was delicious. Actually can’t recommend The Village highly enough!!

Absolutely loved the quality of the food and how nice the service was. As an Italian, it was like being at home

First time visiting and we’ll definitely be back! Great choices on the menu for lovers of seafood and also lovers of Greek food in general. We ordered the tzatziki starter and sea bass from the two course set menu, and also the Fisherman’s Platter from the main menu. Generous portions of delicious food, and very professional yet friendly staff made this is a really enjoyable evening. Thanks again!

Extremely rude cook, spotty guy, this isn't this first time I've herd this guy being rude to customers or to myself. Disgusting can't believe they have him still working there, really isn't good for business. Poor customer was made to wait for a chicken burger that he couldn't be bothered to put in then made them wait to then have no lettuce. ??? Disgusting

Was in Plymouth for the fireworks and had heard about the food here and gave it a try. I'm so glad we did!! Walked in without booking and got a table straight away, it was early though and really didn't take long to fill up. The staff were amazing, chatty helpful and cheerful. I had the crab and prawn cocktail for my starter and then tiger prawns scallops and monkfish cooked in ginger and garlic. The starters were really good and a good portion size. The main was absolutely incredible!! Definitely some of the best fish I've ever eaten and my partner said exactly the same. Will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

Service was great staff so friendly polite and efficient , the lamb dish I had was amazing it was so tender , will definitely be back next time in Plymouth , keep up the good work team 👏Nothing was a problem even tho they were so busy . Highly recommended anyone to go here

They accommodated a large family gathering for us, everyone really enjoyed the food. Some of the guests had a sea food platter for tow to start, there was so much to enjoy that they shared it with the rest of us. I’m not a huge fan of shellfish but I had a little taster and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and attentive, highly recommended!

Excellent food at reasonable prices (I recommend the Seafood Thermidor, which comes with sautéed potatoes and a fairly large Greek salad, for under £20). The restaurant specialises in seafood and has a touch of Greece in the atmosphere. The background music is not in your face and tends to have an ambient house style that can be appreciated without necessarily liking house music.

Consistently outstanding service and food. Best to book a table as always busy. Family run restaurant, so a warm welcome is always available. Good selection on the menu with ever changing specials board. Well worth a try.

Wow....popped in here today for lunch 7/7/24...2 courses for £15.00... I had Mousaka, salad, garlic bread, partner had sea food platter etc 1 word magnificent! Taste, portions, price outstanding!, served by Nicky and Sylyvia...customer service at its best. See you again...soooon.

Now this was a major discovery! It looks like an unsightly chip shop, but what delicious food! In Plymouth marina of all places. Service top, atmosphere top, always people in the shack. And very reasonable prices!

Impromptu visit, food was amazing, perfectly cooked seafood and steak. staff very courteous and attentive, lovely atmosphere would highly recommend. Was my first time eating here and will definitely not be my last.

Popped in to here as it was on the way back to the ferry to crwsand . What a little gem , service and food was amazing . To top it off the prices in this place are so reasonable. We had mussels, scollops, and king Prawn in ginger and chilli, came with a salad and chips !!! 16:95 . Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Food was edible, but no thought given to the presentation of the meals - the vegetarian moussaka was the absolute worst ( thank you for deducting it from the bill ) - other dishes were OK - staff were polite if a little" cant be arsed" - won't be returning which is a shame as this was one of the best places to eat on the Barbican

My partner and myself had our anniversary meal here on Friday and the food was amazing my steak was so tender the Stilton sauce was nice but I didn’t really taste the Stilton but still good and they were very accommodating to my shellfish allergy will definitely dine here again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This turned out to be a really good choice. It doesn't look like much from the outside, I don't think – it's certainly not the most attractive-looking restaurant on Southside Street – but they served me a well-done steak that was actually well-done, and chips that were still hot when they got to the table, and those things ought to be unremarkable, but I've eaten in places that couldn't manage either. It's the food that really matters in a restaurant, and they're getting the food right. Also, the price was remarkably good. You can spend a week in Plymouth eating in a different place on Southside Street every night without exhausting the possibilities, so we didn't come back here, but if we'd been there for longer I think we would have.

Amazing food and unbelievably quick service. Full on a Wednesday evening with a queue so you’re advised to book. Large servings and good pricing. Fixed price menu is vg! Voted as best fish restaurant ever by us all.

Wrong order again. tonight I ordered battered sausage but they were not battered when they arrived its not the first time either its 45p difference which isn't a lot but when it keeps happening it mounts up

We had a table booked for 7 people and paid a deposit, myself and husband had to cancel as I had covid leaving the other 5 going. the restaurant soon filled the 2 spare seats/table with people, But the restaurant wouldn't return our deposit shame on them. Maybe we should have gone and given COVID to the whole restaurant. WE WON'T BE RECOMMENDING OR RETURNING TO THE VILLAGE

Busy Saturday night, we asked on the off-chance they had a table for us, and we were lucky enough to get one, as someone was just leaving. Between the three of us we had the scampi, the lemon sole and I had the mussels mariniere. Chips and bread on the side. Absolutely delicious. The chips were almost like chip shop chips, but skinnier. Not oily or soggy, really decent. Mussels and sauce were cooked perfectly and it was incredibly tasty. Portion sizes were ample. Bill came to around £60 for three, including drinks, which I thought was very reasonable. The staff were diligent and friendly, despite it being very busy. I would not hesitate to recommend.

We were looking at the menu outside the restaurant and a customer who was having a cigarette recommended it. Which was really lucky because the food was great and the staff very nice. Will go back if we are ever in Plymouth again.

If you don’t come here for food don’t bother coming to Plymouth

Had a wonderful meal there last night. Excellent menu choices all cooked to order. Staff friendly and efficient couldn't have asked for more.

We went for the first time while visiting Plymouth and had an amazing experience. While we did not have a reservation, they were able to take us in. The food choices were abundant and the servings were massive! It was also fabulous, as the food tasted fresh and well made. Highly recommend and will be sure to return the next time we are in Plymouth. Based on the food and quality, might be worth booking a reservation in the future to ensure a table as this place appears to get popular very quickly.

We were visiting Plymouth with the family and we wanted to try good restaurants, we tried on Sunday night, and it was fully booked, but then we booked it for Bank holiday Monday. We thought the food was amazing and the service was really good, and Sylvia was a great lady who treated us very well. We were visiting from london, and oening a bar and a pub ourselves in London we were impressed with the delicious food we found here. Thank you and hope we will visit soon again.

We have been eyeing this location for a while now and we finally booked in for dinner on a Sunday evening. When we arrived the restaurant was packed and there was a queue outside as well. Since we made a reservation our table was secured. The restaurant was busy. The staff were working super hard trying to get everything rolling. We ordered a bottle of wine while we wait for the food. Food took a while to arrive which was understandable with the amount of orders they must be dealing with. From the starter to the mains every dish we ordered were very well presented and flavourful. Portion size was really good as well. More than the food we were both amazed by the service we received. Despite how busy the restaurant was the staff didn’t forget to ask every single table how their food was and whether they needed anything else. This was some exceptional customer service and I am not surprised why there was a queue to get in. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

Normally I will find something wrong no matter where I eat. With my partner being a chef I'm very fussy about my food. This place however had me stumped. I couldn't find a damb thing wrong. The food was amazing, service was excellent and it was very reasonably priced, I'll go as far as saying cheap for what we had. Will go again in a heartbeat..

An absolute gem on the barbican. A Delicious, fresh menu including some fantastic locally caught fish, Greek dishes and vegetarian options too The two course special is great value for money. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are so friendly and attentive. Support this local restaurant. I highly recommend it

After many wonderful meals, both eating in and take out, over the years, I was looking forward to my favourite, lamb kleftiko to arrive to the house after my wife ordered it on her way back from work. Unfortunately that excitement quickly turned to disappointment on it's arrival. Bearing in mind, this dish is normally served on 3 plates, I was met with a stone cold, over seasoned and dry cut of lamb, 2 shrivelled pieces of cauliflower, a sad looking, lonely broccoli floret and 4 slices of carrot.(again stone cold). I was initially happy with the potato portion, to realise it was meant for 2 (accompanying my wife's shrivelled up moussaka (not a euphemism)). A phone call to the restaurant was picked up by a female staff worker, who couldn't sound less interested to resolve the issue. Over £30 on 2 kids meals. Wish they refused my wife's request for takeout. Shame, as it used to be a wonderful family run restaurant that cared.

A group of 4 of us visited the village last Sunday at 17.00, on our way to the ferry port. We couldn't find fault with anything. It was busy, but the staff were friendly and attentive, and the meals were promptly served. The food was excellent, and the size of the portions was ample for all of us. We would certainly visit again and would be happy to recommend it. The recommended fish dish was great.

Really great food. Unless you are really starving or can eat a horse suggest you stick to a main course as the portions are more than adequate. You might then just be able to squeeze in a pudding....

Try to avoid busy times, as you may have to wait. Its gets very crowded busy and noisy. There appears to be too many tables crammed in a small space, waitress kept bumping into my chair as I was eating. Probably better on a quieter night. Food very good tho.

Food was excellent. Good sized portions and reasonably priced, as was the wine. Service was good but the tables were too close together for comfort and had to ask for the music to be turned down as it was impossible to hold a conversation . It was lowered , at which point the couple at the next table said “thank goodness, it’s far too loud” but it crept up again. Probably would not visit again for this reason .

Delicious homemade food and great service in such a small, bustling and cosy restaurant! No wonder it is so popular even on a Monday night! Portion sizes were fantastic too and a great evening meal deal of 2 courses for less than £16. A little gem highly recommended. We had the taramasalata and pitta, garlic mushrooms (which was served with dipping bread and butter), traditional fish and chips, and the homemade fish pie.
