What a delightful little cafe. This is a family run cafe / shop and everyone was very welcoming. We arrived on our bicycles and the owner created a spot outside to leave them. Both of our baguettes were very tasty and plentiful. If you want a lovely sandwich for lunch and a nice cup of coffee this is the place to visit. They have plenty of seats inside and a few in the back garden. The perfect spot for a relaxing lunch.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Great selection of delicious finger sandwiches, scones a brownie, piece of fudge and a big slice of cake. Too much to eat, but were able to take it home. Friendly staff and good service. Thought it was good value too. Looking forward to coming back, hopefully when the sun's out - thank you!

Arrived on Tuesday to find the Village Hamper closed, however the owner appeared and opened for us and we were able to buy supplies for our trip. The Hamper caters to all tastes. The sandwiches and soups are all homemade and just perfect. Cakes are also all homemade with a varied selection and good enough to justify a lengthy drive to indulge myself. On top of the tasty food, the staff are all very efficient and friendly. I am always made very welcome.

We wanted a light lunch and saw the Village Hamper. Located on the High Street and a short distance from Thames it was ideal. As bright sunny weather we sat in the garden and had a Tuna and Mayo Baguette also a Fine Ham and Mustard baguette. The latte coffes were very good with good taste and appearence. A portion of cake to finished just completed the whole event

Whilst taking a break from walking the River Thames, we found this great simple village shop and cafe in the high street in Sonning. We had tea served from a lovely pot with simply super old fashioned patterned china cups and the most delicious homemade chocolate cake. The Greek salad was fresh and delicious. In fact everything was super yummy. The prices are reasonable. We were made most welcome, home from home. And dogs would be welcome outside

This lovely tea room ticked all the boxes for our family outing. They couldn’t have been more welcoming when our family arrived for pastries in the morning and later sandwiches and tea. We were not an easy group to accommodate, being a party of 7 plus baby and dog. They even produced a birthday brownie for our son. A cosy, inviting place. Lovely people, delicious fresh food and attentive service. I recommend to anyone visiting Sonning.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday - it’s a pleasant stopping point after walking from Reading. We have visited a few times before in summer & in autumn & also on different days of the week, for snacks, drinks or lunch, so we feel we know what to expect. It’s a pretty and cosy village tea shop with also great deli counter & takeaway drinks & cakes. We have always enjoyed it, as it’s warm, snug, and the food is fresh & tasty, but the service, at least on a Saturday, seems to have gone downhill a bit. The waiting staff were all pretty young (maybe students working part time) & perhaps lack coordination, speed or interest in the job. Although there were only 3 tables occupied we waited 15 minutes to place our order, and then another 10 minutes or so to be served with our food and drinks. We ordered 2 coffees & 2 bowls of tomato soup: they were all hot & tasty & the soup came with generous portions of seeded bread & butter which was appreciated. The food, environment & location are excellent but somehow/sometimes the slow inattentive service lets them down. We will keep coming back & will keep our fingers crossed for better service.

Actually I don’t agree with the previous reviews - this is an extremely small ‘room’ with a few tables and chairs and as soon as I got inside- the smell of food cooking/cooked hit me. I stopped by due to the reviews but was not greatly impressed.

Lovely village pub. Stayed here while on a cycle trip from London. Highly recommend! Comfortable room, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. I had to leave my bike outside for a few hours and when I returned to it, I found that they had protected the seat from the rain with a plastic bag and cloth - without me even asking them to!

Waited 30 minutes for 2 milkshakes. Went to the till to question and the cashier went out the back to say ‘ I need those milkshakes now’ 10 minutes later one milkshake appeared it was not what we ordered and tasted of milk. We asked for a full refund and left without drinking the milkshakes as they were not nice or made with care. The presentation was lacking. Long term customer of crumbs will not be visiting again.
