The Village Chinese Takeaway in Erewash

Fatty ribs- hardly any meat. Hardly any peanut flavour in the satay. All the other dishes ok. Avoid the ribs!! Oh and, duck cooked yes, but only just so very chewy fat. Not my thing, but maybe suits most ok. But urm, no, not the ribs!!!!

Extremely disappointed with this place tonight. Had West Hallam Chinese my whole life. Tonight we had ordered and collected. When it came to plating up at home, there was two portions of rice missing. Fair enough these things happen. The frustrating thing was, that when we rang up to report this. We were called liars and told we had never ordered them, and repeatedly told that he had read the order back to us. Which we told him, yes you did, but you read out the rices in this. He was very young and argumentative. Apparently we weren't charged for them, and wouldn’t have minded paying the difference. But the accusations that it was all our fault. When we had five people who heard us give them the order. Extremely disappointed, and time for a break from there I am afraid.

Great local take away. Very decent prices and food is always to a high standard. Collect is always super quick, around 20 minutes.

So disappointing! Used to be a good Chinese, now the food is stone cold, flavourless and boring.

Looking for a new Chinese. Reviews looked great! However, no website and no menus to look at! How does one know what to order if I can't see?! I rang to ask where I would find a menu and was advised "in the takeaway". It's no good being sat in there where nobody can read it!! It's the 21st century! You should have a digital menu available somewhere!!

The food here is excellent. However, in 2022 I find it bizarre that you can’t pay by card. Especially seeing as most people hardly carry cash

Best Chinese in ilkeston, we come from kirkhallam just for it, very lovely food and people. 10/10

Clean place, excellent customer service but we didn't like the food. I am really sorry, but the white gel style sauce in the house special chow main and house special rice was not nice, we couldn't understand what taste that was. This is the second time in a row the food tastes like this. We binned it, and I am only writing this review in hope the food improves so we can return as we want to support our local shops. We might try again in 6 months but for now we will go elsewhere.

By far the best Chinese Takeaway in the area. We had beef chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice and chips, the food was delicious.

Very efficient service ordered to collect and it was ready when I arrived 5mins later. Piping hot and lovely food 😊. Reasonably priced and convenient with lots of parking so close by.

Been coming here once a week for the last few years. Weekly treat for my elderly mum! The food is consistently beautiful, well cooked , fresh and piping hot. The owners are lovely too. Fabulous place!
