We were lucky enough to get a table here last week, and think it must be one of the best kept secrets in the Forest of Dean. We had chosen from the Christmas menu, every course was delicious, well presented on good china, and with decent cutlery - things that are an important element in a meal. It was lovely to see the students waiting at tables and cooking in the kitchen, whilst doing an excellent job. This restaurant deserves to be supported. We'll definintely be returning, and have already told many of our friends about it.

GC campus Cinderford students can be proud of their achievements and the beautiful setting of the new college restaurant. With Covid restrictions still in place, the staff are only able to accommodate a few guests but they succeed in making the whole experience memorable. Whilst the menu might not be extensive, the food is good value, delicious and well presented. I can't understand why anyone would give the students any negative reviews, they do a fantastic job. When you book, it's worth remembering that as a guest, you are helping the students to gain experience and improve their skills. If you only wish to have the finest dining experience and feel the need to critique the restaurant like a Daily Mail food reporter then perhaps you could leave the few tables available to diners who understand the value of a marvelous experience like the View.

Enjoyed our meals and the service and value for money are excellent. Unfortunately, there were very few customers and it is only open on Friday lunchtimes. Hard not to compare with the Beechwood Restaurant on the previous Forest of Dean Campus, which was open more often and nearly always fully booked. The themed evenings were fantastic and we really miss them. It is to be hoped that more people support this training Restaurant in the Forest. If you have not tried it then go along. £15 a head for three courses cannot be beaten and we need to support our caterers of the future. Sadly the restaurant lacks atmosphere at the moment, but more customers would improve that.

We booked and reconfirmed the table. Arrived to be told there was no booking. Repeatedly told us that there was definitely no booking. Begrudgingly told us we could stay and gave us a tiny table by the back door. Then said the kitchen was closing in ten minutes. We asked to see the manager, told him about his useless staff and decided to go home.

Tasty grub and plenty of it! What proper quality pub food should be. Flavourful and with quality ingredients without being faffy, and a lovely set of staff

My husband and I tried to get tea and cake yesterday afternoon. I am disabled and struggled into the garden to be met by a very unhelpful man who simply said 'its lunch' in response to my husband's polite query! When he enquired further, the response was: 'I'll get you a menu but if you just want tea, there's a tea bar over the road!' Needless to say we didn't bother or wait for the menu! Proprietor should remember it's the customers that keep businesses like this going and respond appropriately! Like another reviewer comments: Bring a packed lunch and enjoy the riverside beauty!!! The person we encountered was really rude and unhelpful!
