The Victoria tea room is a charming place with plenty of choice, cattering from specialist teas to a hearty breakfast. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Best Mocha in my opinion. Highly recommend.

Lovely friendly place, can get rather búsy though. A proper pot of tea, with a pot of hot water as well. Also serves the nicest fruit scones I've had - and I've eaten a lot of them over the years!

Wonderful food and friendly, welcoming service. Fabulous homemade cakes, all incredibly tempting - you just look at them and can tell straightaway that they're all home baked. The teacakes looked fab and huge. They serve breakfasts all day, which you can eat in or take out. I had the veggie brekky at a very reasonable £5.75, including toast and butter. Large breakfasts at £7.25. Very reasonably priced menu. Assortment of teas available. Afternoon teas. Gift vouchers available. Loos are upstairs. Some more seating upstairs. My green tea came in a highly unusual and very cute angular teapot. Extra hot water provided without asking. Berry cheesecake and the fresh cream mini Victoria sandwich cakes looked totally yum. Genteel little caff. Highly recommended. Shall revisit when next in Barnsley. Staff were lovely.

Lunched at the Victorian tea rooms yesterday with friends. We arrived at about 12.00 and there were plenty of tables but within half an hour it was packed out so locals obviously appreciate this venue. The tea rooms are very clean smart and welcoming (as are the staff)! All staff were dressed in black dresses and white aprons harking back to more gracious times- very effective look. The tables are quite close together because it isn't a large venue, and they are all dressed with linen cloths and flowers, completing the pleasant ambience. There are also three more tables upstairs which seemed to be quieter if you don't mind being next to the kitchen and toilet.

I am a regular visitor to these tearooms, and the surroundings, food and staff are excellent. I have, I believe I have just about had everything on the menu and never had any reason to complain. I attempted to visit the tearoom today to meet with my Mum who was already eating there. As a mum to a young baby I had my son in his pram and by the time I got to the tearoom he was ready for a feed. After wrestling a crying baby and a pram up the step to the tearoom, finding my mum and trying to organise myself to breastfeed my baby I was informed in a quite unsympathetic manner that I was in the way. The tearoom have rammed so many tables into the small space that apparently there was no room for me to be in there with my pram. Barnsley isn't a place to leave your valuables outside so I had no choice but to leave with my hungry baby to try to find somewhere else to sit and feed him. Very upsetting for my poor hungry bany and quite humiliating. It looks like such a lovely place but clearly more concerned about the quantity of customers than the quality of customer service and experience. I will never visit again and will be sure to share my experience with all the other mums I know so they don't have the same awful experience.

Visit this tea room regularly whilst doing my weekly shop in Barnsley town centre. Homemade meat & potato pie, homemade steak pie with mushy peas, great homemade cakes, tried them all and never had a bad meal yet. They also do great sandwiches, which I have had in the past. Coffee is a good quality coffee and not bitter or nasty as in some other places. Also had their hot chocolate with cream and not been disappointed. visited the tea rooms last Saturday lunchtime. It was a very busy time and some customers who entered had to leave as no tables free. However, the tables are quite closely situated together and would not have catered for more. The amount to customers who visited the tea rooms suggests that this venue has a good reputation. We ordered a salmon and broccoli home-made quiche which was lovely and a good portion size and a Panini which was packed with tasty filling and quite huge. The food was of excellent quality and tasted wonderful. The menu provides a good variety of food catering for various tastes and the list of various teas and coffees was impressive. The service was good and the only small 'niggle' was that we had to ask for milk for the tea as this was not brought to the table - the waitresses were new recruits and so this is a very minor issue. All staff were friendly and helpful when advising about the food on offer. We would certainly recommend this venue to our friends and will be returning again

The food is very good, a limited range as a tea room should have. This is not a fast food joint nor a cafe. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back as it would have been in the Victorian age. This remains a traditional tea room despite the modern music backdrop! ( It would be much more in keeping, in my view, to have music such as Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to give it the proper atmosphere.) We dropped in on The Crown Inn, and was pleased to see such a nice cozy local pub still operating and serving good food. Next time we will pop in for a bite to eat. Well stocked beers and 3 pumps dedicated to guest beers. V.happy. Service was lovely and healthy banter and discussions with the locals. Keep up the great work.
