Went for a pint with local friends, they have a great beer garden which has a view over Bristol. It had a festive menu on, which I had a portion of roast potatoes, with gravy and truffle oil. Gert lush, it was.

I used to love this pub, but after tonight, I'm not sure I'll be back. We left the Victoria Park bonfire early to catch the pub before it was busy and treated ourselves to pizza (something we don't have the spare money to do often so this was very exciting for us). We arrived when it was quiet, ordered, and waited... and waited. After 30 minutes, I asked the waitress, who asked for our table number and told us there was just a 'slight delay.' I really did feel for her as at this point it was getting extremely busy. Another 30 minutes went by, and we finally had to go find the pizza ourselves—only to discover it was stone-cold, sitting in a box with my partner's name already crossed off. No one even brought it out or called for us, despite us being right in front of the kitchen- we were listening out the entire time and people around us who ordered after us had got there pizza so we would have noticed if someone shouted our name. But by then, the evening was ruined, and we had to leave so couldn't even enjoy the pizza. For over an hour's wait and poor service, we got no apology, no discount, nothing. As someone who works in hospitality, I understand busy nights, but this was unacceptable. Massively disappointed.

Used to be a lovely pub which as locals, we frequented regularly. The food is now really quite poor and overpriced. Pictured “three cheese mushroom bruschetta” for £7. As a result we gave up eating there but still came in for drinks. Now however they have installed giant tv advertising screens and any hope of atmosphere is ruined. Such a shame.

Roasts here used to be really good, place seems to have fell off Table of 10 and no one said their roast was good, just ok. poor servings, minimal meat/gravy, lack of seasoning throughout All edible but these are priced on the higher end so standards should be higher. The quality of the roast does not match the price of the roast

Booked for dinner and on arrival were shown our table. Had to run the gauntlet of prams/pushchairs to get there and told to order food and drinks at the bar. However, the bar was easily 4 people deep with one person serving. After waiting 20 minutes to be served all the on tap offerings were taken off. We decided to leave and go somewhere else. Disappointing.

£16.50 for a burger so I expected something decent but was disappointed. Tasted ok but was just tiny. Not full up at all. Girlfriend got a roast and again it was small. A few potatoes, one little bit of broccoli and only 2 mediocre slices of pork with some potatoes. Had to ask for more gravy. Good atmosphere but avoid the food. Far too over priced for what it is

Not normally one to post a bad review but the roast we had yesterday was mega disappointing. 17 quid for a couple slices of dry (saved by gravy) pork, two very sadd, tiny halves of parsnip and some equally sad carrots just isn’t up to scratch. Roasted potatoes and veg just tasted of old grease. One roast was served without a Yorkshire that had to be requested. Having run a roast service myself this just smacked of serving up the ends of batches that had sat around too long and low standards. Better score on service as the serving staff were apologetic and brought more veg when requested but honestly this just wasn’t good enough. There are many other roasts in the city that are way better, swerve this one.

Roasts have sadly gone downhill. A year ago they were great, but today it was subpar. Meat was cooked really well, but some of the veg was nearly raw. Roast potatoes seemed deep fried and not roasted as they used to be. Portions weren’t generous either. Service was really friendly and helpful though.

Not bad for a roast dinner. We booked a table for six, we were given a table for four so we had to pull a table and two chairs from the corner to adapt. Three of us out of six had to wait for our dinner, by then the other three had almost eaten theirs and our cauliflower cheese that was served with the others was almost cold. Apart from that the waiting staff were good.

Haven’t been for a few years and remember the roast dinner being one of the best in Bristol - unfortunately not the case anymore , such a shame. The veg was too mushy , potatoes were really bad , I had the triple roast and only received one slim slither of each meat . Also drink prices way off - a single shot of house gin was £4.95 , no mixer. The pub itself is lovely with great views and is dog friendly and staff were attentive. Bristol has now become very competitive with roast dinners and is your going to charge the money for them they need to deliver !

£7 for a pint of kaleidoscope is just unforgivable. Cask ales slightly more reasonable but still a bit steep at £5.something. Points to the barman for warning us how expensive the first beer was so we could change our mind. When the bar staff are warning punters off the beers because of the price you've probably got a problem. Pretty soulless atmosphere. Claws a star back for having a decent garden. Not tried the food.

When I questioned the amount of chips I had been given one member said “I could have given you less”£5 for a bottle of non alcoholic beer is embarrassing too. This place has the atmosphere of a graveyard. A freind bought a sausage for roll for £7…… expected a big one but it was smaller than a greggs one. Bad pub bad vibe

We came for lunch at The Victoria (22nd December) at a pub we have been coming to for years. The food used to be (5/6 years ago) excellent. Small menu, good food never a complaint. I think it has been bought by a chain since we first started going, and the food has steadily gone downhill until today when it was almost inedible. In fairness to the bar staff, they were really understanding and gave us a refund for most of the meal, but it was not good, a massive disappointment. My wife had falafel, she couldn’t eat it. My children had fish and chips. The chips were cold, fish greasy and we tried to order multiple items on the menu only to be told they weren’t available. It is a great location, amazing views and should be a brilliant pub, it once was, but something has changed and it is just sad. The place felt sad; it was empty. The kitchen was closing at 1pm on a Friday lunch, and I think it needs a new lease of life to return it to former glories, hope it does soon.

Sadly, one of the worst meals I have ever been served. We had the pie and lamb shank. The pie was clearly from frozen, the roasted veg and mash tasted like they'd been left out for hours, I've never eaten such unloved, unseasoned, almost uncooked cabbage before. We ate it because we were starving, and the staff kindly agreed to knock one of the meals off the bill - to their credit they were very open to the feedback. My partner and I celebrated our two year anniversary here. We wanted to write really to thank the serving staff for making it such a wonderful evening for us. Both our servers struck an excellent balance between pleasant chatter and leaving us to our evening. If the service was great, the food was even better. We both had steak which was recommended to come medium (usually I take medium-rare). Extremely thankful I listened. It came out beyond perfect. The fat had melted like butter and the meat was tender as anything. The icing on the cake for us was the complimentary anniversary platter which was brought out to us. Hand written "Happy anniversary" in chocolate. It made my partner cry! Couldn't have asked for better food, service or end to the brilliant night. Thank you to all involved from us both. Looking forward to this meal but very disappointing. The steak was request medium as recommended on the menu but served rare and too much fat on it. It was awful. The burgers were dry and tasteless. The sticky toffee sponge with custard was served tepid and the dishes were cleared away when someone was still eating. Warned that staff were miserable and they were. So to address your response. Firstly this is a very defensive response and explains a lot. The moment the chef took that steak out and put it on the grill, you know it’s a poor steak full of fat. Check the cctv for what was left on the plate. It was served rare, not medium or medium/rare. It’s chef responsibility to get this right. We were visiting family and didn’t want the occasion spoilt by having to complain. You don’t appreciate this sort of scenario in your response. You shouldn’t even ask permission to clear the table when someone is still eating. Again check the cctv. It doesn’t matter if you asked, another member of the group might not be aware. It’s your job to be aware. As far as grumpy staff goes you should talk to the female that I paid the bill with. Not a smile or a question about the meal was offered. We should have realised it was the end of the bank holiday and booked with someone else who would appreciate our custom more. All it would have taken is an apology and no excuses rather than look to place the blame on your customer. No we won’t be back.

It's a lovely pub. Plany of outdoor seating with heating. Not the cheapest one.

It's my hide spot 🫶 Delicious food – I have tried toasts, cakes, and soup, and also good options of tea and nice coffee. Quite place to read around books or work with laptops (sockets are available).

Ordered Stewed Beef with Sweet Potato Noodles (which I think the name is). You have to order by QR code on the table which is convenient. You can choose the spice level and I chose Level 4 out of 5. It shocked me at first to see the clear soup with chili paste on it but after mixing it well, it was okay. The soup is not only spicy but also a bit sour which I like. You can add more veggies toppings which I did not so there were only bean sprouts, coriander and spring onions. The portion was massive but I wish the dish originally included more veggies like bokchoy. Two noodle dishes and one fried squid cost around £30 for two people.
