Top pub top food child friendly

Our 1st time visiting (family of 6) & can not compliment enough. Fantastic food, amazing decor & lovely staff, thankyou Ellie & team for a great lunch. We will definitely be back! 😊

I always fancied going in here. It always looked so cosy and was often very busy, when I drove past. I got the feeling it had been taken over, but can’t be certain, because the bicycle wasn’t outside. Maybe someone had stolen it! On arrival, I asked for a beer shandy. There were mostly lagers on the pumps. The lady behind the bar said ‘they are all beers’ (She obviously, didn’t have a clue, because beer is an ale, not a lager)! I had an IPA shandy. My husband had Stella Artois. My IPA shandy had a funny taste - not clean and even his Stella didn’t taste as nice as the lager in Germany, where we had been recently). I had a chicken and bacon Caesar salad and a burger with bacon and cheese and my husband had chicken Parmo. The chicken and Caesar salad was quite nice. It wasn’t massive, but kind of filled me up. I gave 3/4 of the burger to the dog, the burger had definitely been deep fried, because it had a crispy skin! The breadcrumbs on my husband‘s parmo, looked incredibly orange; (but I don’t suppose this was helped by a Red Leicester cheese that was melted over the top). The skinny fries looked awful - straight out of the freezer and tasteless. For £40, I didn't think it was worth it really. I wouldn’t return.

This was the best sunday roast ive ever had IN MY LIFE!!! Half a herby chicken, delicious thick gravy, mash, roast tatties, all the veggies. The vibe was unreal- fruit and vegetables growing everywhere, music, little coves outside to chill in. Honestly loved everything about this place. I would travel hours to eat here again.

Very nicely appointed pub. Nicely decorated and with outdoor space at the front as well as around the back. Just popped in for a quick drink. It wasn't fully open when I walked in but the landlord very kindly said I could stay and served me a drink. Will definitely pop in again to try something from the menu.

Regular here with friends and family. It's one of the first places we take our guests due to the range of food and drink. The muscles are outstanding and so are the pizzas. The seating options are excellent and you can still order food when not sitting within the restaurant part. Service is generally quick. The regulars can be loud and definitely enjoy themselves, as does every dog which has The Vic on it's walking route. The only thing I want to see change are the toilets**. Not a fan of the 'No Charlie in the toilets' sign on the front of the door (hard one to explain to our 10 year old), and the inside is also pretty dire. The men's resembles a Victorian latrine whilst the women's is full of self-loathing and sexualised graffiti... This doesn't impact the rating, but it's the one thing that could be improved. It does however have a 'don't press this button' button which gives everyone a surprise. **Edit 6.7.24 - toilets have been tidied up and are in much better nick. Visited on Friday and food, service and atmosphere was 5* as usual.

Food is fantastic, all freshly prepared and cooked. A little waiting time obviously, but good food comes to those who wait. The Wagyu burger is phenomenal. Service was brilliant. Highly recommended, will be going back to try the other delicacies

Fab lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. The food was absolutely delicious and Val looked after us really well, as it was my granddaughters 18th birthday Val put a Roman candle in her dessert and sang happy birthday with us. Thankyou so much for making the day special xx

Great Sunday lunch today. Food was top notch. We all had lunch with different meats all were amazing! Dessert was delicious. We were served by Ellie who was a great server and had a good laugh and joke with us while remaining professional. Thanks Ellie we had a great time.

Not visited here for some time however I doubt I would go back. 6 eating 5 meals delivered, after finally receiving the 6th meal once everyone else had finished there's to find order wasn't correct, ended up leaving. Would not go back

This venue has lost a 8+ years visiting customer for good for shier disraspect. I ordered food whilst at the venue at 11:55am on 7th April 2024. The venue was not busy, I waited 25 minutes with no one noticing I was still waiting for food, the venue filled and the whole venue had been served food before any of mine had arrived, I approached the manager who tried to initially say 10 minutes I waited, that was the forst instance of disrespect don't gaslight the situation and lie, bad managment, I advised him he was completely wrong and it was 25 minutes he agreed, not a single penny was taken off our bill which is so disrespectful regardless of the reson a customer should not have to pay the bill when there is a sheer lack of service, if the staff spent less time watching the football mabey they would have noticed. Such a shame when the chefs are amazing and the food is fantastic.

Very good Sunday roast this weekend - pork belly off the rotisserie, all the veg you could hope for, hearty portions, DULUXE chocolate fudge cake, fresh and foaming pints... good times!

Great food, but noisy because footy was on telly!

Fabulous Sunday lunch, lamb was so tender. Very spicy soup to start which seemed an unusual choice to pair with Sunday lunch but fine for me.

Nice and cozy place with soul atmosphere. The food wasn't something special but it was usual for pub. Service is fine. One thing why I gave 3 stars it's because in gents room the door lock are dangerous with sharp parts and damaged my hand (I hope I have a tetanus shot). I will try to make photo and add review later. It's realy strange that nobody say about it in reviews. So gentlemen will be careful when you visit gents room 😊 I will change rating if the pub improves this point ☝️

Festive fare last night at The Victoria for our party of 7. Food as usual was amazing! 7 of us so different options of starters, mains and desserts all beautifully presented! Staff were attentive and friendly and as it is the run up to Xmas the bar and restaurant were busy so there was a great atmosphere. We all agreed it was a great start to our Xmas festivities!

Food was beautiful but it was supposed to be for 4. 3 of us . 1 not a big eater. It was just enough. Vegetables not ideal . We don't really like peppers. especially green ones!!

If you haven’t tried Sunday lunch in the vic on low fell you are missing out big time we have loads of places over the years but this is the best

I went with friends for a Christmas meal, really nice , tasty hot and plentiful, the 2 course turkey dinner I had was lovely, lots of turkey, veg and all the trimmings, the berry crumble really nice too, staff very friendly and approachable.

Lovely and cosy village pub feel. Good range of alcohol free drinks as well.

Good pub in Lowfell for food and drinks, bit of a challenge getting served with only one side of the bar serving on a Saturday afternoon and loads of people standing at the bar drinking!

Spent my Sunday afternoon at the vic yesterday there was a lovely young lady called grace who served our dinners. She was very helpful and had good recommendations on the desserts. The food was amazing too!!

Our second visit and both times the food and service have been excellent , our waitress Hanna was chatty and friendly and couldn’t help us more Very welcoming pub with great food at a good price highly recommend

Michelle was an absolute star of a server! She made the whole experience 10x better. We enjoyed burgers, pizza, the rotisserie and a lovely creme brûlée, all of which were delicious. Highly recommend!

Double stack burger,bacon,smoked apple wood cheese,and Chipotle sauce,skin on Fries and crispy onion garnish,has to be the best tasting burger I've ever had,nice place to eat,really friendly staff and great atmosphere,would highly recommend this place to eat and drink,also really good affordable prices.

First time having Sunday lunch here it was really nice plenty vegetables which I love chicken was lovely as well as the beef only thing was the plates could be larger especially having half a chicken on beside the rest 😋

I went today and it was one of the best restaurants I have went to, Vanessa and her daughter looked after me and my family and as an 11 year old child they were so kind. Truly something to be proud of as the restaurant owner you have got yourself a great bunch of staff, and I have a account on tik tok which I filmed a video for my account and it’s an account about food reviews and stuff they even gave me some ice cream with some concept sauce for me to try truly a great restaurant my tik tok is jld_takeaways great drinks to very friendly staff would 100% recommend for you to go Sincerely Daniel ward

First time, loved it, great food, I had the chicken gyros, superb, delicious! We were served by the lovely Lesley who kept us well watered, all staff super friendly and chatty. My only gripe if anything was the pint price over 5 quid is expensive for North East. We sat at a table by the bar which was nice as easy access to the drink! Lol some seating outside very comfortable. Will be coming back as soon as the wallet is topped is again. 👍😊 Thank you.

Visited for the first time on Saturday. First of all the food was gorgeous. I had the belly pork which was beautiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The music is good. I've knocked a point off for a couple of reasons most of which are easy fixes. The laches on the women's toilets don't stay shut. One of the girls had to put a sanitary bin in front of the door to try and keep it shut. I closed and locked the door to a different cubicle, did my business and when I looked up the door had unlatched when someone walked into the adjoining stall and closed the door. That was pretty embarrassing as someone could have seen me. Management please fix this because it's only a matter of time until more people will raise this since it's a pretty serious concern. Some of the drinks we got had the wrong ingridients, not a massive deal but both myself and my friend left our drinks half drank because they didn't really taste nice. Limoncello spritz are usually made with lemonade, the ones we got were with soda water. Again not the biggest issue and it might be a mistake due to the staff being overwhelmed at the time since it was busy but maybe if it's really busy allow for an extra member of staff on those days. The pub is very pretty but quite cramped which makes it hard to move around and might be an issue if evacuation is every needed. Might be worth moving some of the chairs around just to allow for more freedom of movement. Overall I would probably come back but not on a Saturday when it's so busy.

Always good value and usually generous portion sizes. Service is friendly and generally efficient, although the staff are sometimes overwhelmed at busy times, when the waits can be much longer.

Great place to eat. Can’t say enough about the place, fantastic menu, great price point, our new favourite place to eat on the doors.

Just had tea tonight. Absolutely beautiful. Starters were loaded skins and onion rings. Main was wagu burger and tacos. And the best dessert ever was salted caramel cheesecake and amaretto ice cream. First class service as usual. Well done The Vic x

1st time visit here with my husband we had the Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint the lamb dinner I had was amazing lamb was lovely and tender homemade roasties were lush. My husband had the chicken dinner and he was impressed ple ty of veg to go with it. Deserts were lovely mine was salted caramel cheesecake with cream while my husband had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream both were amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

I can not thank the staff more for their amazing manors and wonderful experience. I would personally like to thank amy for her amazing customer service experience she is a credit to the bar and one of the most amazing waitresses I have ever met. Will be back in a hurry !

As a vegan I would never go back by choice. No vegan option on a Sunday, and one main option on the normal menu that is not even nice or worth the price (a piece of cauliflower with some sauce, not at all avaialble on Sundays). We went on a Sunday and rang ahead to ask if they would have a vegan option. They said no problem just let the waiting staff know. When there, the staff asked if the vegetarian option would be OK. I said yes if its also vegan (duh). They checked with the chef and said they dont have any vegan options on a Sunday. They gave me a bowl of veg so I wouldn't watch people eat without anything in front of me. Not the meal you dream of when you eat out and was told they would have smth for you no problem. They were generous with the veg they gave and only charged £3 for it which was at least not a ripoff in addition to a disappointment.

Used the function room. The furniture in there was too large to effectively move around the room

Took our grandchildren again last night, great atmosphere,lovely food and fab staff .

At a wake. Was adequate room for size of mourners attending. Food was good and plenty of it. Could have done with a light above food as it was hard to see what was in the sandwiches, small criticism as on the whole good experience.

We have had Sunday lunch here 3 times in the last month. Service is very good, friendly and attentive. Food is average price at £13.95 for Sunday lunch. The food is nicely cooked, it came quickly and there is a decent choice. It's table service. They serve mushy peas with Sunday lunch which I find odd but it goes down well. The only minor thing that I'd say is that the amount of vegetables that are served separately aren't enough per person but this is easily rectified as more will be given at no extra charge. All in all I'd very much recommend this place. That's why we keep going back.
