Tea Junction Greenside in Gateshead

The best named cafe in the area but sadly far from the best cafe. That they don't serve cooked eggs pretty much sums it up.

Put off initially by the fact they are a cafe and offer an English breakfast but don't have the facility to cook an egg/ eggs. That's an immediate no-no for me. Virtually no child options so we settled on a sausage sandwich as you can't go much wrong with those. The sausage was overcooked and burnt (possibly twice) and exceptionally herby - pretty much inedible. Also don't even sell a Fruit Shoot or similar for a child. Served some orange squash in a small 'milk' bottle with a straw after struggling with a glass and that was an ok compromise but if it were my business I'd have a small kid's menu and Fruit Shoots like other cafes. The toasties were ok but just a regular bun rather than a panini bun. Came with plenty of crisps that tasted a bit stale and a small side salad with balsamic dressing. I didn't mind the dressing but my partner doesn't like it. Maybe it could be optional? Cup of tea was very nice and service was fine. Prices reasonable if the quality were a bit better. My meal I'd rate 3.5/5, partners 2.5/5 and Grandaughters 1.5/5. Won't be returning sadly as there are way better options locally.

Booked gentlemans and gluten free afternoon tea....did not dissapoint 😋. Everything beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Couple of bits we couldn't quite manage so no problem to get them wrapped up to take away! Lovely tearoom. Lovely ladies and nothing too much trouble for them. Have been before for a baby shower and will return again. Thank you 😊

Delicious, fresh food! We went for afternoon tea and it was amazing. A sandwich of your choice from the menu, cheese and fruit scones, brownie, pastry, cake and a big fat strawberry. Delicious. I had the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich - the bread was so fresh and it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Staff were a delight too. Definitely recommend.

Really disappointed as the only gluten free offer was soup of the day. Unfortunately it was a flavour I don’t like and there was no gluten free bread to go with it. The menu says if you have dietary requirements to let them know and the server will help with recommendations. They also made a point of asking about dietary requirements which is really good. Sadly they could only recommend the soup. As a previous cafe of the year winner, I would expect more choice. My family had lovely panini’s and sandwiches but it wasn’t fun watching them eat. A good option if you can eat bread.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea. Seph & Emily were so lovely and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Very friendly and welcoming owner...interior is most stylish and comfortable. Beautiful looking selection of cakes on offer. Myself and my niece chose from the breakfast menu which did not disappoint, accompanied by several espresso's for my niece served in a colourful quirky little cup...top nosh

Went on a long dog walk that brought us out at the top of greenside. We are locals so aware dogs are welcome here, our dog hasn't had a lot of interaction in public spaces so wanted to go somewhere quiet to have breakfast and see how she got on. Omg the food was to die for. My husband had full breakfast and I had smashed avacado on toast with bacon. Seriously was the nicest breakfast I've had in a long time. Think this will be our regular Saturday routine going forward, girls were really friendly and lovely and the dog was really calm and comfortable there. Caramel lattes were gorgeous too. They had cakes on display which I need to sample at some point and they do afternoon tea which we will also sample at some point. Thank you for such a warm welcome and wonderful food. See you again very soon.

Smashing Cafe. Lovely sandwiches snd cakes. Definitely recommend giving this place a visit. Staff are so welcoming.

Lovely staff and wonderful food. Chairs were a bit sore for someone who has big hips and chunky cheeks! Gave 4 for atmosphere due to that and no wifi despite v poor signal. Otherwise would be 5 all around

Lovely place, lovely food, excellent Hot Drinks. I didn't try the cakes as I'm on a bit of a health kick but they also looked great. I would absolutely recommend.

Had the pleasure of afternoon tea here recently and it was absolutely fabulous and good value for money, all 3 of us enjoyed it and will definitely return, the ladies working there are super friendly too!

Lovely dog friendly place to pop into for great food & a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Seriously recommend the bacon & maple syrup pancakes..so fluffy.

Me and my daughter came for an early Mother’s Day afternoon tea and were not disappointed. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was beautiful. We were offered a choice of sandwich and once served, this was the biggest sandwich we’ve both ever seen. We had a cake selection which included: macarons, brownies and a huge piece of Victoria sponge! We also had a slice of quiche and a fruit scone. Needless to say we could not eat it all and came home with some goodies for later. We have been to quite a few places for afternoon tea and both agree that this was our favourite by far. We could not recommend this place enough!

Called at Tea Junction for mid afternoon lunch, on arrival told, in no uncertain terms, that there were no hot or cold sandwiches available, no cakes left and that they were closing in the next half hour. The owner, that's who I'm guessing it was, was very sour faced and looked very put out that we had arrived to eat and give us custom to her business!!! We ended up having a hot chocolate each, drinking it off as quick as possible and away we went to another local cafe, who gave us a lovely welcome and fab food. I certainly won't be back to spend a penny there!!!

Lovely place for cake and a coffee! Large selection of cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, aswell as breakfast items, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Sadly there is limited parking nearby, but there was ample visitor spaces in the housing estate close by. Would recommend 😍

Superb breakfast. Really good quality food!

Called in for a cuppa and sandwich to meet a friend. On entering was told in an awful tone that they would be closing in half an hour, then told that there was no hot food or any cold sandwiches with chicken available, it was mainly chicken sandwiches that were sold cold !! The owner had a terrible attitude but don't worry.....no cold chicken or hot sandwiches needed because I certainly won't be back, shame on you Tea Junction.

UPDATE: Kids are now 10 and 6. We've had afternoon tea here a few times now and always thoroughly enjoy what is served. We had that again today and our kids had a kids afternoon tea too. Again, amazing food and well presented, and most of all ... super tasty!! Keep doing what you're doing as it's working well 🙂👍 A big thank you from me and my family. I always have the same, a bacon and sausage sandwich. The food is good quality and cooked well. My wife often has a panini and that too is a good sized portion and cooked well. We really like Tea Junction and our 5yr and 2yr old kids always enjoy it too. Keep up the good work folks!!

Fantastic little cafe serving beautiful sandwiches and cakes. A little gem of a place with friendly staff.

Disappointed if I'm honest. Ordered a Bacon sandwich & sausage sandwich bacon very fatty, could of been cooked longer was undercooked in my opinion. Breadbuns was ridiculously big. Would of been better smaller and better quality. Unfortunately won't be returning!

Take the challenge to finish the Afternoon Tea!!! Fantastic choice of sandwiches, savoury sausage roll, scone and the biggest piece of cake I've ever had. Plastic boxes for the leftovers. Brilliant. Nicely decorated too!!

Lovely feeling and looking cafe but sadly second tine we visited (both around 12.30) and second time lack of stock prevented us tasting the menu! Everything we ordered was not in stock!

We stopped off at Tea Junction for a quick takeaway. Exterior looks inviting and since it was a bit of a rainy day, we decided to take a break. Came inside, decor cute and quirky. We were seen to almost immediately, even though they were serving somone else at the time. Staff were friendly and attentive, and service was quick and efficient. Very generous serving of cake, and good hot chocolate. The cake was cut right in front of me and the food prep area looks clean. The pricing wasn't the best but not the worst either. Our total for cake and hot chcolate came to £6.00 which is about £3 a piece. I would normally expect to pay a bit less but the cake was definitely worth it, and there was plenty of it! All in all, I think I'll go here again. I've heard good things about the toasties and the afternoon tea. I would definitely reccomend!

Lovely tea and a falafel and onion chutney toastie, with side salad and crisps. It was very good. For the crisps, I'd probably have gone gourmet on those if it was my tea shop but that's only a small criticism. My friend also enjoyed her bacon and sausage sandwich. Lattes were very good also.

Bought the chicken, avocado, nacho etc sandwich, it was honestly one of the nicest if not the best sandwich I have ever had

This was organised for our 63rd Wedding Anniversary by our daughter, the food was delicious, couldn't find fault with anything. More than enough to eat lovely and fresh. The sandwich fillings were more than generous and scones so light; first decent scone I've had for a long time as far as we were concerned 10 out of 10 for everything.

Staying safe. Excellent service, great coffee and fab cakes.

Just ordered take away batternburg cheese cake,lotus cake and caramel slice. Batternburg is very delicious and bake off worthy. Customer Service is 10 out of 10. The cafe is had covid measures in place

Been a few times now, excellent coffee and delicious cakes, my wife hasn't got a sweet tooth, it's all about taste and presentation, delicious, thank you.

Abit pricey but worth every penny!

We've been to Tea Junction a few times now, mostly for takeaway cake and treats but have sat in before and it was a lovely experience. Yesterday we popped in for a sweet treat and finally got to try one of the cheesecakes in an Easter egg that they do this time of year. I had the biscoff one and it was the lightest cheesecake I've ever had! Really tasty and such an original idea. We got a few tray bakes to take away too which I'm sure will be amazing too. The thing we love most though is how lovely the owners are. Everytime we've gone we have a lush welcome and a little natter. You can't put a price on good service! Hoping to try the afternoon tea soon.

We called here for lunch yesterday having seen so many lovely and enticing pictures of what they had to offer on Facebook. We weren’t disappointed! From walking on we received a lovely warm welcome and the ladies serving couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. The food was just as lovely as it looked in the pictures. My partner had the all day breakfast sandwich, which looked delicious and he said it was. I had a chicken, bacon and avocado...... all delicious and the buns were lovely too. The array of cakes was fantastic. We didn’t have room for one but couldn’t leave without one as they looked so tempting, so got one to take away..... couldn’t resist having some tonight and it was lovely, moist and tasty. Too big to eat in one sitting though so more left for tomorrow. Go to this place if you’re on the area and haven’t been. It’s a real hidden gem.

Had a lovely lunch here the other week with my family. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. the cakes looked amazing as well!

Not sure if this is the right page but I can’t find another one. Surprised the cafe has only had 2 reviews if I’m honest. A really nice cafe which always has a great selection of cakes and traybakes, scones etc. A nice menu including a good selection of toasties etc, as well and lovely hot drinks. We’ve also had cakes/traybakes to take away as well. A couple of seats outside for the summer, it’s small but cosy and always a warm welcome.

I was in this cafe for lunch.I ordered a jacket potato with cheese. A small, very pale potato arrived, no baked skin, very wrinkled as if zapped in a microwave.The cheese was cubed, plonked on the top. At about £7 it was a disgrace, ok there was a bit of lettuce. The tea pots are stained and chipped. Service, miserable with attitude. Apparently this place has won an award ,im not sure what for.Most items are bought in, sickly cakes, stale scones and even the pancakes.Wont be going back.

Been here quite a few more times now since my initial review as it's a few minutes' walk from home. Emily and her team are absolutely lovely and always make us welcome, whether I'm visiting on my own with some work for a change of scene, or when my partner, kids and dog are with me. Little touches like providing a bowl of water and treats for dogs show that the team really think about how they can make people feel welcome. The food is always great - I've had breakfast butties, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, cakes... Keep up the great work, ladies!

Driven past this place several times and finally got round to calling in. Glad I did and no doubt will be visiting again.

Good food, large cake portions, big cups of tea and odd decor. Has an award on the wall for best tea room 2019 so someone else likes it too. Dog friendly.

Great cafe, friendly atmosphere, amazing cakes - worth a visit ! The afternoon tea looked good and they had a few different options for light lunches on the menu.Parking is available across the road and looks like regulars park down the road on the main road on the side of the cricket ground.

Had breakfast here, was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
