A great place to have a cafe. Good view and nice set up. In the summer tables are set outside and a really nice . Even now we had a a thick hot soup and wholemeal bread . The menu is very varied and should make everyone happy. Toilets are clean and room is pleasant . Staff work hard to make sure customers are satisfied.

I've been passed this pub a hundred times and kept going. A simple white building next to Cattal railway station, just off the A59. The car park always looked full - a good sign. But I was never sure whether this was because of people catching the train or because the Victoria Pub was that little bit special.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch after turning up with no booking around 2pm.

The Alice Hawthorn

07/04/2019: If there was a village in Yorkshire that I’d want to live in its here. Beautiful with a fab pub. Only visited for drinks but menu looked great. We will be going back.
11/06/2019: A friend who grew up in York, knowing of my interest in history, old churches, and fine dining, suggested that I spend a few days exploring Yorkshire, which has so much to offer; my wife and I subsequently took him up on his offer to show us around. One evening he, his wife, and his parents hosted us to a dinner at the Alice Hawthorn Inn, probably a 15-20 minute drive from the center of York.

The Wakeman's House

04/03/2019: Day trip to Ripon, never been before, glad we came across The Wakeman's House, if only for coffee. The scones did however look delicious. We received a friendly welcome and the waitress noticing our tourist map kindly gave us some recommendations. Interesting reading about the Wakeman on the reverse of the menu. A very characterful building with good food and service.
21/03/2019: When you visit Italan restaurants you get Anti pasti, in Spain you get Tapas, in Yorkshire you get the real deal.
