Dower House Hotel Restaurant in Harrogate

Visited for a wedding, wow it is amazing, beautiful scenery, beautiful building. The ceremony was amazing and ran very smoothly. The canopies tasted fantastic with the evening buffet also was extremely tasty. All staff were polite and helpful. All in all a 10/10

The Dower House Hotel is something else! This was the only venue we viewed and fell in love straight away and knew we didn’t need to look anywhere else! I don’t even know where to start- everything about the venue was amazing from start to finish! Jade is an asset to the hotel and looked after us every step of the way! All my constant emails were answered with no bother! She made me feel so at ease on the day! Ethan was a big part of our day as well! He was there all night Thursday setting up and again there all day on the Friday! He really was a gem! The food was out of this world from our wedding breakfast, sausage and bacon butties and the breakfast the next morning! Everything was perfect! Every single guest commented how beautiful the venue was and how attentive the staff were! We literally couldn’t have asked for anything more! Thank you Jade, Ethan and The Dower House for the most perfect day!

I came here to celebrate a wedding and stayed in a beautiful room, the hotel is immaculate the grounds are stunning and the staff went above and beyond, i cant praise them enough nothing was too much to ask they were all friendly and accommodating, the food was outstanding too 5 out of 5 on every level.

Booked a private event room and was very very pleased with the room. The bar area was close by and was also great, soft seating, and bar seating. The service was great and prompt. The meal was great too. Our party no was 18. Highly recommend.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to fully put into words just how grateful I am to all the staff at The Dower House for making our dream wedding day a reality. Myself and my bridesmaids stayed at the hotel the night before the wedding and staff could not do enough for us, we had our breakfast served to us in the wedding dressing room and this was a fantastic start to what was to become to best day of our lives!! Throughout the wedding planning Jade and Max answered every single little query and always reassured me that everything would be fine! Which it absolutely was! Jade was an absolute star on the day and helped me more than she realised, when I was feeling nervous in the morning, she was always there to reassure and when I realised I’d made an error with where I’d put my parents tables, it wasn’t too much effort for Jade to come in and switch it over at the last minute, I will be forever grateful for that! Ethan was fantastic at the end of the night when we weren’t quite ready for the party to finish and he accommodated our late night drinks. The food was absolutely second to none, from the canapés, to wedding breakfast to the American diner buffet in the evening!! Compliments to the chef!! So many people have commented on what a fantastic venue we had, how amazing the food was and how accommodating all the staff were and both my husband and I would wholeheartedly agree! The Dower House have the very best team! And whilst we are sad our day is over, we couldn’t be happier with the venue we chose and would highly recommend anyone looking for a wedding venue to go and look at The Dower House for yourselves. It will not disappoint! Thank you very very much for playing a massive part in the best day of our lives.

Wedding event perfectly catered to, absolutely faultless. BUT ... my disabled sister found the disabled room in need of a few things, & the evening meal disgusting with no replacement/apology/money back - nothing 😡 she will be posting a more detailed review!

Stayed Saturday night for one night on a trip to the east coast excellent hotel stayed in the lodge, nice breakfast and very good staff, breakfast was quality ingredients and very well cooked

Unfortunately the room we were given had a large water stain with peeling paint over the shower and black mould around the bath, this room later had water pouring through the ceiling by the entrance door, luckily by this point we had asked to change rooms. The second room we were given had some mould around the bath/ shower area but not as bad, there was no toilet roll holder or toilet brush in the bathroom, no cushions or waste bin in the bedroom, it all felt like it had been stripped back to the extreme. We had to wait some time to check in due to no staff around when we arrived. The hotel is stifeling hot, the heating should be turned down a few notches. We were woken in the night by what we think was a stag calling, this went on for about an hour. The breakfast and dinner was good and service in the restaurants very good but this has not been the relaxing or enjoyable stay we expected or had hoped for.

On arrival at Dower House hotel, we were made very welcome at Reception. Our room was in The Lodge building, it was very clean and comfortable. New Year's Eve celebrations were great - meal and entertainment very good. Quality of food and service was excellent throughout our 2 night stay including breakfast both mornings and dinner New Year's day. We enjoyed being there and would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends.

Get a grip on your fire alarm management, was going off in the afternoon and has woke me up at 6:30. (There was no fire)

Beautiful hotel in beautiful location. Party of ten. We had 5 rooms in the coach house. All our rooms were large and very well furnished with lovely bathrooms. Spotlessly clean too. Cream tea in the afternoon, dinner in the evening and breakfast - all excellent Every staff member was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Ethan our waiter.

Perfect location for our wedding! The team at the Dower House could not have been more helpful, from the first meeting with Carolyn (their wedding planner) to discuss initial dates, through to the eventual wedding some 18 months later. We felt engaged with and in control every step of the way. Communication, mainly by email, was always efficient and engaging and nothing was ever too much trouble. On the wedding day itself, all the staff went above and beyond, taking the time to introduce themselves to us personally and making sure we wanted for nothing. The weather on the day was glorious (10th June) and we were able to get married outside under the folly - the most idyllic and romantic location. We loved the fact that we were exclusive, unlike some of the bigger hotels that perhaps run at least one other wedding on the same day. The food was beautiful and plentiful and all of our guests commented on the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff from the minute they arrived to the minute they went to bed. The following morning, all our gifts and things like left over cake, had been carefully packaged up by the staff and made us packing up much simpler than it otherwise might have been. We have been to other weddings at larger venues, where you simply do not get this level of service or personal touch that you do at the Dower House. Just perfect.

We wer delighted with the whole experience. The staff, all the staff, we're lovely helpful people. Food was plentiful and good value. Setting is a delight. We have booked for next year as soon as we got home.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the planning and execution of our wedding on the 29th of April. It was everything we could have hoped for. A special thank you to Carolyn who has been absolutely amazing from day 1, Ethan who is an asset to the Dower house for putting up with our drunken guests (bridesmaids). Didn't get to check in until after 7pm due to the room being a total disaster. Mess in the toilet - bathroom dirty towels and not cleaned- bed been slept in and cutlery around the bedroom. Management lied told me I'd get a full refund amd left his duty manager an order to only give £50.50p refund and until now I'm still awaiting a reply as I was told I would get a phone call . Also the out building don't stay in there constantly being woke up by banging doors until 2am . In reply to your reply I have a email from you saying we were being out in the out building away from all the noise so we wouldn't be disturbed.

It was quite expensive £28.50 each for a 3 course meal. The prawn cocktail was very disappointing and served in a drinks glass which made it difficult to get your cutlery into to access the food. My main course was chicken in a white sauce, which was served on a stone cold plate, making the food cold too. The chicken was very dry and overcooked and the vegetables which were served separately were also stone cold, and very few between 4 people. A lot of food was left on our table, and we agreed that if the WI booked next year we would not attend.
