We met up with family we had not seen for over a year. We chose this pub as it is equidistant for both us and our family. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent (personally speaking, the best fish and chips I've had for ages...proper Yorkshire batter !) My family were equally pleased with their choices, The service was friendly and efficient; what more could you want ?

We had hoped to eat on Thursday night. We called in but they were full so we said we would phone in for a reservation. The following day I tried to phone but the phone wasn’t answered and the phone message was out of date - referring to a bank holiday 2 weeks ago!I tried again the following day with some success and booked for the Saturday. We arrived early, had a couple of drinks and the staff kindly brought over some lovely home made rosemary bread to keep us going. It was however absolutely freezing as the Windows and doors were propped open.We eventually had to move to the other side of the restaurant.Other guests were wearing their coats! The food was excellent- mussels for starters, Cumberland sausage , chicken burger etc.Very good service.Thank youWould have given a 5 rating had the phone reservation and heating gone a little better.

I was going to say “It’s back!” but actually through a year and more of lockdowns, the Bay Horse hasn’t stopped. It provided food and drink from a takeaway menu as well as also offering groceries for delivery. The pub is now fully open and we are getting back to normal (although the staff enforce the COVID rules). The food, as always, is consistently good. There is a good array of drinks. The regular house bitter is Taylor’s “Landlord” accompanied by a guest beer from breweries like Daleside and Pennine. The staff are the best in the area; friendly and welcoming.

Absolutely lovelySo welcome to be able to go back to the Bay Horse. There was lots of outside room (front and back) and it was all really well regulated from a Covid perspective. But what really stood out was the EXCELLENT burger (and the mmmmmm fries) and the quality of the beer served. The warm bread and the tasty butter were a nice touch too. It was so welcome to be able to enjoy the Bay Horse. Thanks also to the great staff.

So what can we do to cheer us up - a meal out would be good but out of the question at the moment. So, if we can't go out for a meal, let's have one delivered.

Disfrutamos del pan de romero que nos sirvieron después de tomar nuestro pedido. in these times of Lockdown we had a flyer through our door promoting the Bay Horse @ Kirk Deighton & the Fox & Hounds @ Walton...so a Friday night treat. Ordering was easy & simple - were told delivery would be about an hour - perfect! paid via direct bank payment. 4 burgers - totally delicious, a juicy thick burger with cheddar cheese, grilled onion, mustard mayo, lettuce & slaw plus chips ...it was big & it was beautiful. It is important we support our local businesses & ensure they are still there when normal returns. A fantastic meal & service experience.

This is a pub that I would heartily recommend for Sunday Lunch. The home-made black pudding starter is exquisite. I had the roast beef which was not nearly as pink as I would like but, despite being over-done, it was tender and flavoursome, suggesting that the beef was very good quality to start with. The one oddity was that the Yorkshire Pudding served with the beef was dry - not filled with gravy. Which seems slightly odd in the heart of Yorkshire. Next time I will stress that a want my beef pink and request extra gravy.

Really good starters, I chose tempura prawns, my husband had homemade black pudding with Guinness. Our mains were exactly what it said on the tin, ribeye steak and belly pork. My husband did not want the rocket salad and as no alternative was offered his plate looked a bit bare and it would have been nice if more beetroot puree was served with my pork instead of just a stain on the plate. My husband finished his meal with a good portion of apple and strawberry crumble. Overall a tasty meal if a little on the expensive side.

The Bay Horse has now been under new ownership for just over two years and it has gone from strength to strength. The food is consistently good with a menu which has something for most tastes - Sundays get very busy. There is a wide choice of drinks including 4 cask ales (which change regularly and feature many local brews), lagers, Guinness and lots of spirits. The staff are all polite and friendly and the pub welcomes families and well behaved dogs. Every other Sunday there is a very popular free quiz. Other events such as wine tasting and theme nights (Hallowe'en etc) are crowd pullers too.

At last a pub that does an excellent lunch at a reasonable price. We were three for lunch as guests of our friend. We had been before but in the dim distant past, so a revisit. What a lunch, the best I've eaten in many years. This small village pub serves magic food. My wifes' and our hosts' fish pies were a feast of salmon, prawns and beautiful white fish served really hot, My proper 'pie of the day' pork, black pudding and apple, with beefy chips and mushy peas also served at scalding point, What a change from the usual tepid efforts. The mains being so good, we must try the sweets, Our host had local berry fool with a touch of almond liqueur, me, I love cheesecake, so passion fruit and vanilla it is, exquisite, the only fitting description. All properly homemade. All accompanied by a carafe of good French red. The bill which I surreptitiously calculated will not offend anyone. We shall certainly visit again and soon.

What a bit of luck it was. Upon opening the door and looking around we thought yes . The manager is a great bloke and couldn't of been more helpful . My wife is a little fussy and he let us take our time looking at the menu . My wife always says " If it isn't a mish mash of this and that" Plus not a huge choice chance is it's good . Well she was right I had the Fish pie to die for and she had a very different type of pie ( Lamb) This was top quality too . Served with very fat home made chips and lovely gravy . Booked a meal for my daughter’s 25th birthday on a Wednesday early evening. There was a nice atmosphere and it was much lighter and more spacious than I remembered. There were tables set up for dining but also an area to sit if you were just having a drink. There were a few tables outside at the front of the pub overlooking the Main Street. We were welcomed and shown to our table by Alice who looked after us and took our order. The menu had a good choice of meals, nothing fancy just reasonably priced pub grub. I ordered the fish pie. My husband and daughter ordered the homemade pie of the day (lamb) and my son had the burger. We all enjoyed our meals.. The fish pie included a variety of fish including salmon and prawns in a tasty sauce. The dessert menu looked very tempting too but we didn’t have one on this occasion. Overall I thought it was good value for money with the four main courses and two rounds of drinks coming to £72. I noticed that dogs are welcome in the pub so we will be taking our dog Monty with us next time.

A new team from the Fox and Hounds at Walton has taken over and are taking strides to make this a destination eating place. We have visited previously and scored 4 out of 5 making adverse comments around the experience through poor service. As villagers we gave the establishment second chance with friends on a horrible Windy and Wet Saturday evening. As last time the food was excellent and this time the staff were warm and welcoming with very good customer service suggesting "a visit to the charm school has worked". Finally the Bay Horse is as good as it it should be. I remember the good old days of it being a real 'destination' restaurant. This incarnation isn't fine French dining (which was wonderful there at its height), it is everything a modern British pub should be. It has been very nicely renovated inside, but the real highlight was the food. Starters for all of us were perfect. I'm often reluctant to have beef on a Sunday as I'm usually disappointed. This was spot on. Generous portion, beautifully rare, and tasty! Really lovely mash too with the vegetables cooked just so. I'm not really a pudding fan, but the crumble was excellent. They have a very good chef in there. Lovely staff too. A new benchmark in Wetherby.

The food was excellent, the experience leaves a lot to be desired and the value needs improving. We arrived around 20 minutes ahead of our booked table time intending to sit outside and enjoy a drink before sitting down to eat. At the bar I advised we had a table booked, the moody looking restaurant manager(ess) immediately took us to our table which over road our plan to sit outside. within 2 minutes of being seated she returned looking for a food order which was not forthcoming at that stage. When we did order she dis not know what the asterisk meant against a gluten free option (one of our party being a coeliac) and likewise did not know what the soup of the day was. Following placing our order she returned to advise they had run out of gluten free bread (bearing in mind a good % of the menu is GF this is unacceptable bearing in mind this was early Friday evening) reulting in the starter being served in part. The food served up, both starter and mains was excellent however when I viewed mine (steak at £19) I looked at the overall portion sizes on the plate and thought " is that it". When we asked for the bill it was evident we had been overcharged for drinks we had not received, the waitress at this stage (not the manager) took the bill off me and questioned the manager re the incorrect billing, she simply responded " table 1", no apology was forthcoming or indeed what the course of action was. I subsequently returned to the table, with a few minutes a new bill arrived net of the overcharge but with no adjustment for GF aspects net of bread. I subsequently paid the bill but did not leave a tip which in all honesty is the first time in a number of years I have not left one. The visit was definitive in terms of understanding the establishment in terms of placing a further booking for a larger number of people. the end result being we will be going elsewhere, likewise as a villager i will not be rushing back, as stated at the beginning the food was excellent however the experience and the value both require working on. In summary, must try harder.

Called in for a Sunday lunch having heard that Bay Horse had reopened - we had driven past previously & thought it looked smart from the outside. Clearly been revamped, decorated & a fresh start once inside. Between us we had roast beef, Fish & chips, steak & ale pie and poached salmon - followed by chocolate brownies- all 4 plates were completely cleared & compliments from all - I thought the vegetables were cooked to perfection - if there was a small criticism it would be the service was a bit slow & the bar left unattended for long periods - fully accept it just opened & going through a learning curve - judging by our meals it looks set to become a regular haunt for us - well done - keep up the good work- definitely recommend

Lovely welcome, and flexible with arriving near to the kitchen closing time! So pleased as we had travelled from Southampton and the journey had been a long and arduous one!

So pleased to see our local has reopened. Had the salmon and husband had bangers and mash. The food was delicious and very well presented. I couldn't manage a pudding but the sticky toffee pudding went down a treat with my other half. Excellent value for money. We will be back soon!

It's good news that our village pub has reopened again. The place is now free from tie and is owned independently. It used to be an Enterprise Inn and, so like many PubCo pubs, opened and closed down frequently and provided little by way of value. Anyway, it's now free of tie (although the prices are no cheaper: £3.50 for a pint of Theakston's bitter) and has been done up in an attractive manner. At the moment the menu is limited whilst they find their feet. It does offer steak pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips etc for about £12. Starters are about a fiver. I haven't yet eaten but the food looks good. The staff are all pleasant and helpful too. Hopefully, it will stay open.

We went for an evening meal and were so pleased that The Bay Horse has reopened with new landlords and staff. It has been comprehensively redecorated and it looks beautiful inside and outside. The decor is contemporary and fresh. The menu is limited at the moment but the locally sourced food is all freshly cooked on the premises and it was all delicious. The bar is well stocked and there is a very good wine list. We will definitely be eating at The Bay Horse in Kirk Deighton again.

We dined at the newly re-opened Bay Horse which is now under the ownership of Alan Lamb of the Fox & Hounds, Walton fame. The building has been completely refurbished and the ambience as you walk through the door is extremely welcoming. We dined with another couple and everything we chose to eat was beautifully cooked, extremely tasty and well presented. All in all, it was a perfect meal and we wish Alan every success in his new venture.

This place seems to open & close with monotonous regularity. Had high hopes of the last owner/manager. Has been closed for quite a few weeks but now has scaffolding up. Is it going to open again or is it being converted into housing. I'll keep watch

A friend and I travelled separately from Newcastle and Derby to meet at this pub, go for a bike ride, and then enjoy some good food and drinks. The reviews had looked good and the menu looked better so we thought this area would do nicely. Sadly, when we got there, on a Thursday during half term there was no sign of life, no sign to say we weren't opening or that we were opening late and from the website it should have been open at the time we were there. Really disappointing considering we'd travelled so far. It's good to support local businesses but unfortunately we ended up going to a brown signed competitor a few miles north. Consistency with opening times is really important, or at least a warning.

Seeing that this pub/restaurant was open for business again, we decided to visit for a midweek lunch. On arrival shortly after the advertised opening time, we were advised by the chef to take a seat for few minutes and our orders would be taken by the Manager/bar personnel. We examined the menu and "specials" board but it became evident that the Manager had been delayed elsewhere when he arrived between 5 and 10 minutes later, and had to still carry out some preparation at the bar. By this time a small number of customers were waiting and orders were eventually placed. When the food was served, the portion size and quality was very good, served on nice hot plates. The price for our meal and drinks was slightly expensive, but the main issue related to being unable to place orders.
