Accompanied my dad (85 yrs) on the railwaymen’s Christmas lunch. Quite a number of us and we all ordered at the bar as planned and ate upstairs in a private room. I was amazed at both the logistics of the meal, the efficiency of the staff and the quality of the food. There were lots of people eating and drinking downstairs, the ambience was great. If you are looking for a good old fashioned pub with good old fashioned customer service and great food, this is the place!

Went here with a friend last night (30th Nov 2024) to see a live Irish band called Kelly’s Heroes. Had such a great night. We weren’t locals but the place and staff were so welcoming particularly John the barman. Reasonably priced drinks and although we didn’t eat there, we wish we had as the menu was really interesting and the food looked great. Would definitely go back and highly recommend for a visit.

Delicious home cooked food and a great selection of ales. The service was very friendly and it was great to be in a traditional Nottingham red brick pub. It was recommended to us and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to you! It was busy so would suggest you book a table to be on the safe side.

The place has a strange smell when you enter. Wasn't fond there was a menu on the wall in small handwriting and no paper menus to see what was on the menu properly. But, on whole, staff was great, food was nice.

Good food, prompt service and a lovely pub inside. The garden has been ruined by the permanent covering so no chance of sunshine in the summer. The beer is best described as pedestrian. They'll have 8 beers on and there will be 6 between 3.8 and 4.2%. No big breweries. Not a pub for finding exciting new beers but perfectly serviceable if you go for a meal.

Went to the Vic with my wife and some friends as we have done many times before . I had just bought a pint of Exmoor Gold , which I have drunk many times in various pubs , when I found it didn't taste or smell right . My mate agreed with me . So I took it back to the bar and told the barman . He went to check then came back with the drink and said " they were only halfway down the barrel and others were drinking it with no problems " . No offer of a replacement . I said I don't want that pint . Once again no offer of a replacement . I have never come across this anywhere else , ever ! What happened to the customer is always right ? If others were drinking it , then they obviously like bad ale . My wife and myself will not go there again . We'll take our money elsewhere , where customers are properly treated .

Used to be a regular haunt but this was first visit in a while. Glad to say the Victoria is reassuringly the same. Great selection of beers and wines. Food choices are great, plenty of veggie options and not a freezer to fryer meal in sight! Between us we had chicken curry, sausage and mash and burritos, all of which were tasty and well presented

Excellent whiskey and local/guest beer and cider menus and the food alone is worth the trip. What a shame, once a great pub for real ale and good food, our experience this week was disappointing. Food was overall enjoyed. Soanakopitta was tasty, the Jamaican chicken with rice was certainly the best and envied. My seafood risotto with scallops was tasty, but felt portion size was a little small. Overall, good food mostly with salad. Desserts we all felt were on the small side. Again, tasty. Probably get 5 slithers from a quarter cheesecake. Overall, I'd recommend. Prices are reasonable and fair.

We visit the Victoria multiple times in the year, Vic Feast, and many other seasonal occasions - we also dine there on occasions with friends. The pub is second to none, the drinks choice is extensive, and the food is exceptional. However, sadly, we visited yesterday to dine, booked a table early in the week, and again no booking existed. I know mistakes happen, but this is the third time - last time we were shunted into a corner was on Burns Night, when again our booking did not exist! Just wondering what is going wrong!

Disappointed 😞 my partner and his mother rated it but hadn't been in a while, well 3 veggie sausage, mash & peas & carrots with watery gravy without an onion in sight dispute it saying onion gravy. Bakewell tart bland with cheap bland custard. Irish trifle wasn't the best either. Also the staff we're quite rude and looked fed up to be honest. Busy tables packed in and very noisy.

Great pub with a nice atmosphere and plenty of choice of beers. First time eating here and my sandwich (Victoria club) was nice. However, my partner ordered the “Hungarian vegan goulash” and I don’t think it could have been any less like goulash (my grandad was Hungarian and I’ve been to Hungary numerous times). Bland, tasted as though it had no paprika in it at all (this is literally the most important ingredient!), and was served with garlic bread and rice. Never seen goulash served this way in my life. It’s supposed to be a soup. In short, I have no idea why this is on the menu when the place can clearly cook decent pub grub. I wasn’t expecting anything truly authentic given that it was vegan, but it was honestly an insult to Hungarian cuisine 😅

I love this traditional pub. Original features, unpretentious decor and set adjacent to platform 1 of Beeston Station add to its charm. Sunday roast is consistently of a high standard, the lamb is perfectly cooked medium rare and is always succulent, tender and beautiful flavour. All the elements to the roast are done to near perfection with a homemade quality. And with a great atmosphere and quality beers it is the most authentically British of settings to enjoy Sunday afternoons. The pub seems to attract such friendly patrons too, so you'll always feel at home. Pubs don't get better than this!

I love going to The Vic for Sunday lunch, it's our local and we are regulars. They are great for gluten free with different options available on the main menu. For Sunday roast there is lamb or beef available as gluten free. It does not have a Yorkshire pudding but you get extra roast potatoes. They have an extras board which includes gluten free cauliflower cheese which is delicious. From the main menu there are always a couple of options labeled gluten free and often if you ask, they can adapt dishes so they can be made gluten free. The kitchen really understands cross contamination and I have never had an issue with my food. The dish comes out with a gluten free marker on it.

As usual, the choice of drinks and the friendly staff were excellent. For the fist time in many years of frequenting The Vic the menu choices were disappointing. This was because at least three of the vegetarian options contained chilli or other spices which, for someone who is allergic to certain spices, made choosing difficult. In addition the beef bougignon was very peppery - also surprising. We hope that this trend for lots of spicy dishes is not permanent!! We’ll be back to try again soon - if only for a beer. Thanks

Our Teen lads hated it. Didn’t like the taste of their food, didn’t enjoy the working man’s vibe or live music. Building has allergens causing nasal irritation the entire time I was sat indoors. As soon as I left the premises my nose stopped itching, although remained inflamed and red the next day and I had to take antihistamines and hydrocortisone cream 🤧 We felt uncomfortable as soon as we entered because we are not regulars or locals to this pub so were stared at by people throughout every room we entered or walked through. The building smells like a time warp to yesteryear🍺 Won’t be returning or recommending to anyone 👎🏼

The Vic was recommended to us by a friend back in the US who studied at Nottingham, and we're so glad he did 1) because the out-of-the-way location meant we never would have found it, and 2) our experience was superb across the board. Wonderful Victorian (appropriately) atmosphere, extensive menu, and a very decent beer selection. Food was excellent (we had the lincolnshire sausages and the paella) and arrived in a flash. The staff were very welcoming, even to us clueless tourists, and there were plenty of dogs in evidence (always a good sign.)

So very dissapointed this was a second visit in a week for me. 1st visit Tues 12th Dec table booked for 12pm. We didn't get our mains till 1.20 we hadn't pre ordered so I was hopeful my second visit would be better as we had pre ordered our meals- how wrong I was! We arrived Tues 19th Dec our table was booked for 4.30 the table wasn't ready, not a problem there was plenty of room downstairs, it was pretty quiet. Our starters didn't arrive until 5.25 then the mains started arriving 6.45pm ! we had to chase the deserts at 7.20 by this time a few people had left ! When we asked why the delay, the female who had earlier been behind the bar was very rude and condescending. Her reply: -We should have informed them if we were in a rush and they may have been able to ask the chef to prioritise our order ??? - We need to understand that we were not the only people there that night and that there were people downstairs that ordered food too ! - That all food is cooked fresh to order and so takes time ! - 3 hours was not an unacceptable length of time ! At this point I would like to point out that the Turkey dinner was microwaved veg and frozen potato's the turkey, pigs in blankets and stuffing were certainly not cooked fresh to order ! There was 27 of us, and over £600 spent. The food was of a very poor standard the staff rude and obnoxious. The only good thing about the experience was the young male waiting staff, they were pleasant courteous and apologetic to us (something that was lacking from the two females ) and these young men were an absolute credit to you ! Don't take bookings for groups if you can't handle them.

Visited for a work Christmas meal, I was aware another team at work had visited the week before and had waited an hour and a half for food, but as we had pre-ordered we thought our experience would be a lot better. Unfortunately it wasn’t, when we arrived our table wasn’t ready - this wasn’t a big issue as the pub was empty at that point so plenty of space for us to sit down whilst we waited. Our table was booked for 4:30 and we didn’t get our starters until about 5:30, with the mains arriving approx 6:15pm. By 7:20pm our Desserts still hadn’t arrived and by this point people had already had to leave without having the desserts they had paid for! Disappointingly, when we asked how long the desserts were going to take the female server was very rude, suggested that 3 hours was more than reasonable to wait for a meal and that we should have let them know if we were in a rush! No apologies were made at all. The food itself was just average. I’m pretty sure the roast potatoes were frozen Aunt Bessie roast potatoes and the veg wasn’t fresh either. It would have made sense for the kitchen to have been prepared and serve our food when we got there when the rest of the pub was empty as they didn’t appear to cope well or deliver a good service at all. Unfortunately the last time I visited The Victoria with a friend and also found the service to be extremely slow. Such a shame it’s gone downhill as I have visited alot with friends and family over the last 15+ years. Tips for management - train your staff to have better customer service skills and don’t take on too much custom that you can’t handle
