One of my favourite local people watching spots. It's a lovely space to enjoy a coffee and a (delish) cheese scone. Staff are always friendly, and the place is always clean. Bonus of viewing whatever art exhibition is on at the time, and a mooch in the well stocked shop to find some great local artisan products!

I happened to search places to eat breakfast and the vestry came up so I tried it. It was a fantastic surprise. I have walked around this area and didn’t even know it was there. I think this place would be packed every day if more people knew about it. I will be eating here often. Not only was the food cooked perfectly it was a great value and the service was excellent.

Wonderful little cafe situated in an old church. Staff very nice and pleasant and was served by a young man on work experience called Jack. Best cup of tea of the day. Food choice on the menu is wide ranged at decent prices. Will be visiting again for sure.

I was served today by jack one of the students at catcote 6th form. I had the best poached eggs and crispy bacon muffin! Poached eggs cooked to perfection! Jack was polite and had excellent communication skills. Service with a smile! Well done jack. I will certainly be returning

Called in recently and had a delicious Tuna melt served by the very helpful Pam. Absolutely the best Tuna melt ever. Great to have a quiet place to unwind and eat. Beautiful artwork to view after your meal as well. Very good value for money. Hartlepools little treasure :-) Thanks.

I booked with a number of friends for the Afternoon Tea. We all enjoyed the setting in Christ Church which was converted many years ago into an Art Gallery and Cafe. The service was superb and the Afternoon Tea was first rate. All dietary requirements were catered for and the amount and variety of food more than covered our needs. We will certainly be going again.

Gem of a little café, (inside Christ Church, now the Art gallery) freshly made tasty food and the best latte I have tasted. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and the meals are very reasonably priced. There's usually some sort of exhibition displayed which is another reason to visit. At the moment there's some road work going on outside but it's still open and accessible. Parking available at the train interchange just opposite Christ church.

Most times when I visit my parents in Hartlepool we call in there to have a look around the art gallery and to support this fabulous cafe. Lots of the staff have special needs and come from catcote school. They are always so happy to be there and helpful. The food has always been a good and this time was no exception.Unfortunately they have less customers at the moment due to the amount of work being done in Church Square.Keep up the good work.

Great coffee in lovely surroundings. Friendly and efficient service. Quiet on a Saturday afternoon and you can contemplate some interesting art as you sip your cappuccino! I didn't eat in just grabbed a quiet coffee but the food smelled delicious and there was a good selection on offer. It cost me just £2.50 for my coffee. Run as a training establishment for local Catcote Academy special needs school, teaching real life skills to their students. It ticks all the boxes!

Set in an old church The Vestry cafe had a lovely feeling to it. Students from a local school are employed as part of the cafe team. The food was simple but very tasty, a good range of light bites. There was a range of delicious cakes on offer.

Lovely café in Christ Church which is now art gallery. Best coffee I have had in a long time and the food freshly made, tasty and is very reasonable. Staff are lovely always smiley and pleasant. Parking could be an issue for some people but we always park in Morrisons and it's a short walk to café from there. Can recommend, always art on display and nice gifts available to buy.

Food is excellent (home made scones, afternoon teas, daily specials) and very reasonably priced. Wonderful friendly service, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The Vestry has a wonderful ambience and feels very special. Just the place to relax and enjoy the unique and welcoming atmosphere. The café is an official Fair Trade cade and is open from 10am to 4pm, and specialises in afternoon teas and light lunches. This is a lovely little place, though I am not sure people realise that it is there. It is situated in Christchurch Church, which is in the the centre of Church Square Hartlepool. Lovely food, which is made and served by the lovely Pamela and Carol. There is also an art exhibition in the church at the moment. There is a gift shop near the front entrance, which sells nice jewellery ato a reasonable price.

Yet again the Vestry met expectations, good service, lovely food, good variety available & very reasonable with their prices, the setting is lovely & very serene, small niggle is the prices on the menu differ to those on the blackboard so do question what you're paying, other than that another enjoyable visit.

Excellent venue for a coffee, snack or lunch. Lunch was a bowl of delicious spicy parsnip soup, served with a lovely fresh roll and all for £2. Couldn't get better value. Other friends had sandwiches, served with salad and crisps, which were also great value. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was served very quickly. Would definitely visit again.

This is attached to the Art Gallery and was known as Christ Church several years ago. Its a lovely building and the staff are extremely helpful. Coffee and teas are made fresh and there is a variety of sandwiches, quiches, jacket potatoes and scones. Also lovely homemade soups. Couldn't fault anything. Also had afternoon tea which was lovely. Old fashioned customer service and good food. Closed Mondays though.

The food served is a mixture of jacket potatoes, paninis, quiches, scones, etc. I had a tasty jacket potato with cheese and my friend had the tuna jacket. The service was very swift with large helpings served with salad. There was a mouth-watering array of freshly baked cakes and scones. I had a fruits of the forest scone which was still warm. Delicious! I would have no hesitation in recommending The Vestry for a quick snack in unusual surroundings!

I visited The Vestry today as well as Catecotes Academy to see the amazing work the young people are doing both in the school and the community. The highlight of the visit was lunch at The Vestry where I chose the amazing bacon and Brie Panini. It was great to be able to talk to the young men who served me about their aspirations. Thank you for the hospitality.

I sampled Afternoon Tea at this lovely old church and it was really delicious and great value for money. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble even providing us with a box to take the cakes home that we couldn't eat because we were so full. I will definitely be paying several more visits in the future.

Used to come here all the time with my Mam before she sadly passed away 5 years ago , we used to come on a Saturday , since then to keep my Mams lovely memory alive i have been back on many occasions as this is not just a normal cafe it has a hidden secret - EXCEPTIONAL THAI FOOD , usually one dish a day and differs every day just look on the specials board , something like this is a hidden gem and the service is always fast and friendly , the owner wouldnt hold it against me if i said she was a bit loud lol but thats just her way - a very friendly soul and this place is very popular with locals and shopkeepers who order their Thai food as a Takeaway. I love Thai food at the best of time but to find a place that serves it at lunchtime is very very rare , and as i said the quality is superb , ive never been to Thailand but ive eaten in many posh Thai restaurants and the quality of food matches and beats all of them. Keep up the fantastic work to the owner and all your staff. See you soon.

Love it here. Amazing service as always. The coffee shop is part of the Huegh Battery Museum so all for charity. Hugh Battery Museum is spectacular. A great piece of Hartlepool history. Great bacon butties. Great coffee, great cakes. My dog loves it here. Especially the doggie sausage. She can try the ice cream in the summer. Only moved here late last year. This was an amazing find. Park nearby. Walk the headland then have coffee and cake. Or if early enough a bacon butties for a late breakfast. Just a shame closes December to February but will be a regular visitor at the weekends.

Pure chance we called in here during dog walk combined with pub crawl around headland. What a great surprise and find. Staff were absolutely brilliant friendly and amazing. We all ordered food which you know was cooked to order as it was fresher than fresh. The half cod and chips was ordered by two people and it was perfectly cooked with the most amazing home cut and fried chips (none of Yr skinny fries these were big proper chips). The batter on the fish was nicely crispy and not soggy. I ordered a parmo which was delicious came with chips and salad as it was so nice I devoured it like there was no tomorrow. One toasties was ordered and yet again was delicious. Finally a chicken fajita was brought out and so tasty it didn't last long. We all had drinks and all commented on how overall the service was great friendly and couldn't ask for more. All so competitively priced we will be returning Thank you all at the Victoria Arms
