Always visit The Vaults bar when in Weymouth whether staying at the hotel (Cown) or not. We regard the staff and regulars as friends now and feel at home.

Excellent food choices, friendly, helpful staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Very attentive staff, nothing too much trouble, although they had been very busy at earlier sitting. Well done, will be back. ☺️

Of all the bars in Weymouth, this is our favourite. We look forward to seeing the regulars and staff, also it's the only bar that serves mild. Great atmosphere and comfortable. Though part of The Crown Hotel, the bar is public and easily accessed.

In a town full of bars, this is our favourite. A hotel bar but not obviously so. Never too busy. Always a flow of guests and some great regulars. The same friendly staff and always made welcome.

Very cosy and 'quiet' bar. Can get busy but never too busy. A hotel bar but not obvious once inside. The staff are brilliant. Obviously the bar is used by guests but there is always a regular flow of welcoming locals.

I have eaten lunch here a number of times over the last ten years. The last time I thought that my salad was a little sad, and lacked any dressing. The bacon and Brie salad has been downsized. Today it appears that most dishes have been downsized. The smoked haddock was the size of smoked sprat, and very dry. Based on current performance with this meal, there are much better places in eat in Weymouth, and you don't have to go far to find them.

Crown hotel We've visited this restaurant twice this week and the service is impeccable it's like stepping back in time Food was like mother used to make We had steak and kidney pie which was homemade with the loveliest pastry it was full of steak and kidney and a lovely flavourful gravy and the roast beef dinner , both were served with a selection of four fresh perfectly cooked vegetables and potatoes ( the roast potatoes were home make and just lovely ) And home made bread and butter pudding with custard was just too good not to try and well worth it ( took me back in time to when mother in law made it for me) If you want good value home made food served in a lovely quaint restaurant by fantastic staff This is well wort a visit we are going back this week just for the puddings.

A quick visit for a bite to eat. Friendly service. Limited menu but was sufficient for us. Rump steak was tasty. Small and confined restaurant, worth a visit if want a bit of peace from the main street.

We booked a family meal at the vaults restaurant. The home cooked food was fantastic, it was very busy whilst we were there as it was the seafood festival and I must say not once did the friendly waitress Paulette become phased by it, She was attentive, always smiling and extremely polite. 10/10

We eat here with our five month old baby boy and I cannot praise the place enough. We were shown to our table by a lovely lady who made sure we were ok with our pushchair, another gentleman again checked whether we needed a highchair. I ate the seafood Plater and my partner the mixed grill, both came with chips and a nice salad. The food was well cooked and just enough but I have to say our meal was made great by the lovely lady who served us who pushed our little man around the restaurant while we ate - absolute heaven. I must add we did eat early evening and the restaurant was quiet however this was over and above the lady's duties and made our meal. I cannot recommend this place enough, again great food, great value and lovely people.

I cannot rate this oasis highly enough. We had our wedding meal here in September and go regularly on a lunchtime. Cheap food, excellent quality, and excellent friendly staff. A 2* hotel and restuarant that is worthy of a 4* at least!! Mum stayed in hotel for a week when visiting us and she was treated like royalty.I recommend this hotel at every opportunity for food or a base for exploring the area. The room rates are very reasonable as well.

We've eaten here twice now and both times have been impressed. The food is home cooked and very tasty. The service is wonderful especially the young waiter. The only downside is, apart from every lunchtime, they are only open to the public on Fri & Sat evenings.

i was quite upset when the head waitress debbie raised her voice on several occasions to my two children, the waiters in the dinning room are fine unless you dare to ask them for something like chicken nuggets then they are not happy BEWARE THE WRATH OF DEBBIE she is the worst one

A great experience once again. 5th time at The Avenue and it never fails to deliver first class food and service. The students are a credit to the college. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail make the experience a real pleasure. We thoughally enjoyed the lunch and experience as usual and can't wait to return in the very near future.

Mixed review: A warm and friendly welcome, clean and tidy. Day one: breakfast was lovely, all appeared freshly cooked so it took a little longer, the food was nice and of great value. Feel like there was a whole can of beans for the 'beans on toast' and it was piping hot. The pot of tea was plentiful The 'coffee' milkshake was more like warm milk, not the best. Day two: ordered the thick shake this time - meant to be with ice cream and so thought that would make it cooler and tastier - wrong, it was the same as the previous visit with cream and sprinkles - not the best (if you want a nice thick iced coffee, visit the White Stones cafe). The food took a bit longer again as it was Sunday and busy. The mushroom on toast was cold but we were on a time crunch, so we couldn't send it back. The taste was nice, just cold and the black pudding was a bit on the rubbery side. Everyone else enjoyed theirs.

We stopped by Portland as tourists from the USA. We got a scone, slice of cake, and two coffees, and they were some of the best we’ve had in Europe! The staff were friendly and helpful too.
